I received a notice in the mail that said I am past due with my payment. I paid the day I received the bill in the mail. I called the local office and Anthony said "we don't hang the invoice on your door no (sic) more". How am I supposed to know what I owe before it is considered late? I can only wait for an invoice. Not happy at all. read more

Seriously! They no call no showed me three times. Finally showed up, then the invoice came in wrong. Not sure how they can operate like this. I'm suppose to be on a service route where they check my tank and fill it accordingly. They have never come back to check it, it's less than 40 percent and I'm debating telling them to not fill it, when it goes empty I'll have a new company come in that actually cares about service. And now they robbed me. Why I wasn't home they came and filled my tank. Changed 4.50 per gallon when all there competition is charging a dollar less per gallon. Never come on my property again. You are not welcome. I will switch to a competitor asap read more

Had some significant issues to start with but all was fixed and they gave me some free gas. Thankful for the help and kindness of the manager on the Grass Valley office read more

We almost ran out of propane and Migi made it a priority to come out and make sure we had propane and did an inspection for us. He was very thorough and answered any questions or concerns we had. I couldn't thank him enough for the help, he very nice and professional. Thank you Migi! read more

This review is about the service we received yesterday when we had a leak in our valve. Ryan, Aaron, and Angie from Grass Valley all supported the fix and did so in the most prompt and professional way. They were super thorough and made sure our propane situation was safe now and also proposed a longer term solution. I couldn't be happier with how they handled. Everything. Thank you!!! This is a tough job, people get very nervous about not having heat for their home or having a leak. The team was awesome and so glad we have you here to support us. read more

First, I'd like to mention today is the day before Thanksgiving. We had a gas line burst in the most recent storm due to unforeseen plumbing issues which caused our entire propane tank to deplete overnight. We found the leak last night, got a plumber to come out today and make the repair, which just leaves me with an empty propane tank. I called suburban and Charles very promptly answered the phone with eagerness to help. I explained that I understand it's a holiday so wanted to get on a waiting list for the next available fill (assuming we would wait up to 2 weeks) Charles took all of my information as a new customer very efficiently and asked me what was going on. He stated he wanted to help my family as we didn't need to be going without our heater or hot water and placed me on hold because they are booked out. Upon his return, he said he was able to get us on the schedule for THIS FRIDAY. The day after Thanksgiving. I was genuinely surprised and ultimately overwhelmingly grateful as I'm very pregnant and have a toddler at home. These nights are getting colder, too! We then discussed rates. Charles gave me a rate, price matched other competitor rates, and then lowered it again as a first time customer. Filling a propane tank right before Christmas could make you the Scrooge but this experience has just made me grateful. I cannot recommend Suburban Propane enough and their attentiveness, kindness, and compassion during unforeseen circumstances. GREAT WORK CHARLES. read more

Suburban Propane has done a commendable job of improving their service after a challenging couple years with not having enough drivers. I have been impressed and grateful for the professionalism and promptness all the deliveries have been this past year. read more

Very difficult to get ahold of office in Grass Valley. Had to schedule a fill up with National call center. Made nearly $700 payment for fill up. Was told I'd have to wait 7 days for service. That's ridiculous! Well day 7 rolls around and nothing. So I called National call center and they had to create a new delivery ticket cause their was no delivery scheduled. All this after I already paid nearly $700 for a fill up. How do you Gail so hard and doing your job? You took my money but failed to schedule my fill up? Get it together! I also had to wait nearly a month to have someone come out and inspect equipment. That person never filled his paperwork after inspection and I had to wait almost another month for fill up. I def do not recommend this business. Absolutely horrible company! read more

listen. let me start off by saying that I have been a propane user for 40 years and Suburban is the biggest bunch of morons in the business. they pride themselves on customer satisfaction when in fact NO ONE has great things to say about them. they are overpriced, unreliable and inconsistent. they are good at blowing smoke up your ass and your tank empty. I have had to set up auto fill and a payment plan 29 times in 10 years. I get on the phone tell them I want autofill and payment plan they take my information and guarantee its all in the system and then. I never see or hear from them. the reason I like auto fill is so that it doesn't get to empty which makes my bill REALLY high. but no... they say they put me on auto fill and they don't ever come and my tank goes to zero and THEN they want to charge me a $250 emergency visit fee for something they should have alredy taken care of! this happens every 2-3 months like clockwork and no one at suburban can do anything for their lack of customer satisfaction, failure to deliver and putting me in a financial bind every single time... And do you know how hard it is to speak with someone in my local Grass Valley office? Every number that they give you is a call center somewhere in the universe with customer service people reading from scripts. it's literally a joke. the entire company. find another propane provider folks read more

i called Suburban Propane to request them not to enter via our private back/side patio. The tank is on the complete opposite side. Last time our large dog was sunning on the patio and got spooked by the technician who than kicked him. When I called the rep said she would make a note but could not promise and said "sometimes its hard to know left from right". Tank is on the left-private patio on the right. read more

We have been using Suburban for years and becoming very unhappy with their prices over time. There are other companies charging way less & we're considering changing very soon. read more

I called the local number to check the price. I pushed button after button and got recording after recording. Then there was an option to have them call me back and not lose my place in the ON HOLD line so I took it. The call was supposed to be in 7 minutes. Within 5 seconds of when I hung up, the phone rang and it was them, I answered and it was another recording saying stay on the line and that it would be 8 minutes.. Are they freaking kidding with that NONSENSE? I never did get a price but I did place the order with a better company and got a GREAT price.. I guess when you are a big company, people without brains purchase your product and do not understand that you are a HORRIBLE Company.. All I can say is that I hope they get everything they deserve and people become a lot smarter.. read more

Suburban cannot remotely measure an installed tank capacity and estimates delivery refill under their automatic delivery program based on refill delivery/consumption trends. If a Customer wants a delivery they can repeatedly call the Grass Valley office and hope the call will be answered within 20 minutes or more in queue. Their answering service can only send email messages to the Grass Valley Office and cannot remotely see delivery driver's scheduled route by your address. They will not refill your tank until you reach 10% of tank capacity. Start calling fir delivery beginning at 30% and escalate your delivery on a weekly or daily basis. Repetitive poor business practice(s) exhibited for last seven months. read more

Please don't use this company for propane they are horrible in every aspect. We stop their serves because they are impossible to get a hold of ( phone rang & rang) and they left their propane tank in our front yard for over 7 months! My husband had to take work off and drive there to request them to get the tank and the lady at the front desk was not empathetic and very rude. read more

Negative 500 stars. We're supposed to be on auto delivery and for the last 2 years they let us go to empty. And every time it's during a snow storm. We don't have a fireplace or stove so our home gets to the 30s. Every time I call they ask how much of an emergency is an emergency.. having no heat in a snow storm is an emergency. With 3 little kids and no hot water or heat.. no, I can't wait 7-10 days. I hate hearing "were short staffed".. but if I'm on auto delivery it shouldn't get to this. I f*cking cannot stand this god damn company. I'm ready to fork over whatever it takes to switch to feral gas. These people suck. Their customer service is friendly but it doesn't take away from the fact I'm currently in an ice box of a home. read more

zero rating! I'm without propane for 4 days!!!! calling everydaysoooo cold! horrible service Sharon in lake wildwood read more

DO NOT use this company if you want any communication from them - they just don't bother. You have to call them and go through their ridiculous phone system. I wish I had read the ratings by other customers before I decided to call them. I was going to open a new account with them and spoke to Charles who told me someone would go to the house check and the situation out and get back to me the next day or the day after. 4 days later I still had not heard from them so I called back (after a very long wait on the phone). He said he was sorry no one called and arranged at that time to have propane delivered the next day. My house is up for sale and is vacant and a week later a Realtor called and told me when they entered the house it was freezing! Obviously they had not delivered the propane which meant the gas furnace couldn't turn on to heat. I called Charles and after 'checking' he said it turns out the technician had a problem installing the tank. Really! After a whole week, do you think anyone called to let me know that? They have terrible customer service, they don't bother to call you and you are forced to call them to find out anything. read more

Went to fill a tank today. They can't fill tanks cause only one person working. Great business plan! I won't be returning.

Anthony showed up on time and fixed our personal tank. He was thorough and very informative.

I ran out of propane one Sunday night. Called the next morning and they had someone out within a few hours. Great service. Great prices.

We canceled our service with Suburban Propane and arranged to have them pick up their propane tank back in August. It is now almost January, and it still sits here. On August 15, I was told they would pick it up in 2-3 weeks. They never came. On September 16, I was told they would get the tank the week of October 7. They never came. On November 15, I was told they would DEFINITELY get it by the end of the month because we were "on the schedule". They never came. I called again on December 15, and it's still sitting here. Every time I call, I'm given an excuse. Suburban charges a fee to lease their propane tanks. I'm thinking I need to start charging them a fee to lease the property that their tank has been sitting on for almost half a year. Do not use this company unless you want to waste your valuable time making call after call after call only to be lied to over and over again. We've been more than patient. read more

A business relationship is always great when it starts. I'm giving Suburban propane two stars because two years ago when I moved into our new place they saved us. They were able to come out and put a tank in for us so we can have hot water and cook the next day. The company that had the tank with the previous owner require us to go through a credit check while we were stranded. But our business relationship has come to an end with unfinished business. A few months ago, we noticed that the rate per gallon has went up. It was almost up to $5 a gallon. I have called Suburban about the rate in pricing and was told that the manger will give me a call. So i waited and week later, nothing. I called again and was told that my information was still on the manager's desk. That tells me their customer isn't really important. After waiting a few weeks i search for a new propane company. In my search i discovered their companies was charging half the price per gallon then suburban. So i called and set them up. suburban was supposed to come pick up their tank on the 4th of march 2020. I am writing this review on April 1st 2020. Their tank is still sitting in my driveway. I was so lucky that the other propane company was able to moved Suburban tank out and install thiers in because i be dead stuck using suburban still. I haved called Suburban and asked why they have missed to pick up their tank. Thier excuse was they had an emergency to attend to. WHich i can understand but it has basically been a month since the tank been sitting in my driveway. While meantime, I am getting calls and letters from their collection dept saying that I owe $600.00 for the last fill up. The tank still got 65% in it. I know i do not owe $600 but they have not been here to pick it up to confirm the amount. I have talked to the collection agency and they said they will call the local Suburban. That was two days ago. I am still waiting for a phone call. As of right now... Suburban Propane tank will sit in my driveway as a driveway ornament. read more

I am looking elsewhere I have been waiting over a week for them to come fill my tank, 6 telephone calls always "He is on the way don't worry, BS" The ladies in the Grass Valley Office do an excellent job covering for their poor service and try to sound upbeat. One cannot get the Grass Valley Suburban Propane to ever answer the phones. The call center isn't a whole lot of help, either. I was told I'd get a delivery a couple of days ago. It didn't happen. The tank is now down to 10% with no delivery in sight. In addition, there's a leak at the tank, so I'm being charged for propane that I'm not even able to use. Moved and cancelled service two months ago. I have called more than 5 times now to resolve a billing issue about a rental fee and now late payment. No answer ever so it goes to their help center who takes a message and assures you a call back to get your issues resolved. Even the call center that the call gets forwarded to says they've made notes in my account and that the issue is resolved but I keep seeing the bill in the mail. read more

Suburban propane is a joke. They state your delivery date and never show up. Our neighbors received propane and billed us. What a mess trying to get that straighten out. Will not recommend this propane company. read more

After purchasing a home, there was some confusion over which company owned the propane tank attached. In the end, it was determined that Suburban owned the tank. They arranged to come out and do a "New Customer Connection Check". That was actually an excuse to disconnect the tank in an attempt to obtain payment... the propane was not theirs -- it belongs to the previous owner. It had been my plan to complete payment when I got paid -- 6 days later than the day of the "New Customer Connection Check." The way this was handled was underhanded, sneaky, and dishonest. I would recommend any other provider for propane. You just cannot trust Suburban. read more

I ordered propane mid February, so far I have called 5 times and still nothing. I DO NOT BLAME the local office. How the corporate office did not plan for these storms that the entire nation knew how bad they were going to be and NOTHING was done to make sure their clients had the propane they needed is unbelievable. They really need to be held accountable. I will be looking for a replacement company. read more

I am new to propane tanks. The first time, they never showed up a few times and I thought it was a rule. It seems to be the norm. My last fill up they showed up as planned, and proceeded to charge me 3.91 a gallon........ what a rip-off. My neighbor paid 1.77 from Ferrell gas at the same time. I sent a complaint, never heard anything back. Needless to say, I will be switching services this year. If you need a propane company run away, fast from Suburban. And look at all the one star Yelp reviews, that says something!!! read more

I recently moved into a house that had this company tank and the we went to do an inspection before buying the house. The company filled the tank to full when we asked for only a little. The seller was in charge of the payment for this. After 6 months of being in the house the company showed up and shut off our gas without telling us. When I called they said there had been no payment from the past owner and they cannot turn it on till we set an account up with them. When I said we can do that they then told us we would have to pay for a pressure test and we would pay for that. They then proceeded to say it would be 30 days before they could do that. So the company turned our gas off without telling us because of the previous owner not paying for it and then told us we have to wait 30 days before they would send someone out to get ours back on. Also the rep was extremely rude and would just keep cutting me off while assuming it was my fault that they did not try to contact us in anyway prior to shutting off the gas. read more

Even with all the craziness, as a result of the awful storms we have been having, and the overload of work Suburban currently has, they earned a 5 star rating today. The driver (Eddie), who has been pulled in from Texas to help, arrived within an hour of my calling in to request a fill because we had gotten very low with the cold temperatures. He was friendly and professional and gave me some advice and tips. Nancy, who answered the phone was also very friendly and expressed appreciation for our business.
