Took the truck back and Dave worked his magic - helping me get into the correct truck for the job without additional charges/fees. He's professional, pro-active, and has a problem-solving mindset. My daughter and son-in-law lost their Colfax home in the River fire in 2021. They have just been able to rebuild on the site and have just moved into their brand new home. Some of their belongings are very cumbersome and heavy so I thought having a truck with a liftgate could make all the difference. The closest one was at Penske in Sacramento. At $0.80 a mile plus gas, driving it up from there was a non-starter. Dave at Springhill suggested I call the Penske regional office. They agreed to send a liftgate truck up to Grass Valley. The kids picked it up as planned on Sunday morning and finished their move uneventfully, thanks to the truck. I can't say enough about how helpful and friendly Dave and Penske have been. I started renting my unit about 4 and half years ago. It has been the best thing for me. Having a secure place to store belongings while trying to move has been a big help. Spring hill storage is clean, dry and very secure. The staff is great for any questions or help. Very friendly keeps the property very clean and organized. I was able to take advantage of a Penske discount for April which was nice. I checked in at Springhill a day before to confirm my pick up and drop off and the next morning the manager walked me around the van. I noticed a couple dings and scratches he didn't mark on his sheet. When I was ready to go I didn't see a parking brake. I went back into the office and he pointed out the electronic brake left of the steering wheel. No big deal but it was part of a pattern of being a bit lax in the checkout process. The van itself drives well enough, certainly much easier than a truck to handle. I was hoping for a backup camera but sadly not the case. The side mirrors had a top normal mirror and bottom wide angle mirror so distorted as to be useless checking the blind spots which are pretty bad. I was saying a little prayer every time I made a lane change. The van was good for moving my 1 bedroom of stuff. It has a high extended ceiling if you need it. Van has a big sliding side door which is easy to open. I found the step up the rear bumper was too high for comfort. Maybe there's a ramp you can rent. The 70 mile trip cost me about 55.00 in gas. read more

The facility, the units are clean, well-maintained and secure. The manager Dave - and frankly everyone of their personnel - have been great: always helpful and considerate, as well as making sure everything has gone smoothly throughout my stay. I've used their Penske Truck rentals, as well, and it's so convenient to have that service right there. I have been living out of the country and Dave has always been responsive to my inquiries. Great storage. Clean and secure. I rented a unit here for about 5 months and I was very pleased. The manager Dave was always very helpful. I had a POD container delivered on site when I moved in and Dave made sure everything went smoothly. They also have a Penske Truck rental on site which made moving out very convenient. I have been using storage in various states for about four years now and have to say Springhill has been my favorite which is a saying a lot for a service which can be as mundane as storage. Best value I have found for the amount of space and cost, they happened to have a unit available the day I came in and the people who run the facility actually really care about having you avoid late fees and get your payments in on time. Unlike most facilities which count on profiting from late payment fees, Springhill does everything they can to ensure that you know when your bill is due, and have AMPLE opportunity to get it in before acquiring late fees. When combined with generous billing dates, outstanding security, very open and honest communication about the additional services they provide, Springhill storage is second to none. This is a great, conveniently located self-storage location with good prices and great promotions (first month for $1)! Very friendly and accommodating management. During a terrible divorce I needed to find a place to store my belongings...I can't begin to convey to any one who's considering or looking for a SAFE and CLEAN place for their storage neeeds. I was treated with respect and kindness and they were so helpful to me when I was under the stress of moving. I have used other storage units in the past...one in Chico and the other in the bay area...I swore I'd never store my things again because of all the dirt and the heat and cold...mice etc..but NOT @ Springhill...go 4 it U won't be sorry...p.s. they have the BEST prices on boxes around..bar none... read more

This facility has been amazing - super helpful staff and have always taken the time to give me a courtesy call when my rent for my unit is due. The site is clean and secure - during the time of year when it is dark in the early evening I feel safe when I'm accessing my unit where normally in that situation I would feel uneasy. I have never had any problems with their service or their facility. It would be nice if they accepted PayPal as a form of payment but the fact that they don't doesn't lessen my opinion of them the slightest. Highly recommend this facility if you are looking for a place to store your belongings. read more

I wish I could give no stars. Horrible customer service, the guy at the desk yelled at my 50 year old. We left some packing peanuts in our truck and they made us clean and sweep the entire truck. I have had a storage unit at Springhill for about a year. All of my belongings are still safe and in perfect condition. The facility is safe, clean and nicely located. Most of all, the manager, David Dixon, is a wonderful person and a very helpful and caring manager. He is very personal, always professional, repectful and kind. I can tell that he cares about me as a person and a customer, as well as the security of my belongings. Just moved to GV and needed a small unit for a few weeks until our rental home was ready. Easy access right off the freeway, clean, well lit, and when it came time to move into the rental and out of the storage, Dave the manager was great to work with and totally accommodating. I cannot speck for the self storage part of this business, but the Budget rental sucks. I reserved a truck 2 weeks in advance. When i went to pick up my truck I found out they had given it away to someone else. I was forced to rent a smaller truck at an increased rate, and not all my belonging fit in the smaller truck. The employee did not know how to ring up the contract correctly and we had to do it 3 times to get it right. And then when i dropped off the truck after i was done with it, it turns out that she didn't even write the milage down correctly. Would not recommend. Go to UHaul. read more
