Just moved out after 3 months. This place is WAY overpriced and terrible. It's literally 120 degrees in the unit in summer time, they don't run fans, the lights don't work half the time so remember your headlamp. Im not sure where all the money they get is going as the facility itself seems to be falling apart. The lady in the office in nice enough, just a woman doing her job but the management is obviously greedy and not present in the running of the business. I do not recommend this place but unfortunately there's not a lot of options in town. read more

It would appear that this company has outsourced their phone lines to another company. I have tried to get through several times and I sit on hold with their corny music until their phone line eventually disconnects me. Not worth having to drive to their location to get help, so I'll just go elsewhere! Update: the company reached out for me to call them... and provided the same phone number I already called several times but found it transferred me offsite and hung up on me. Rented unit # 359, it had a massive leak in the ceiling. Turns out the unit next to it was leaking also. There are units located above these two, so it is likely they were leaking also. I notified the management, they had me move to another unit, #104 in a different building. Went there today and it is leaking from the ceiling also. Given that there are multiple units getting water damage, in different buildings, this is due to management's lack of proper roof maintenance. When I was there moving my stuff from the leaky one (to the next leaky one) a women moving stuff out of her unit yelled out because there was a rat in one of her boxes. read more

This review is more directed at the management or headquarters of StoragePro. My partner and I secured a storage unit to hold a few items of ours while we moved across the country for a bit. We left November 2016, and returned around the end of May 2017. When we returned, our storage unit was almost completely empty, minus a few empty containers. We were clearly ROBBED. We reported this immediately to the manager who took pictures and we called the police filed a police report. We filed our claim immediately with corporate. We had some family airlumes stolen, as well as some expensive power tools. It is now May 18, 2018, a YEAR later, and we have STILL yet to be fully communicated with in regards to our claim. I have been given the run around, and NO ONE is responding to my calls or e-mails. I spoke with the VP around x-mas time 2017 who assured me he would look into this for us, and again..here it it..MAY, and multiple unanswered e-mails later, no one is responding to us. If you value your items, DO NOT trust this company, and do NOT purchase the insurance. Clearly this was a waste of money, and now our stuff is GONE! read more

Price increased after like two months, there was evident of a rat or mouse in our unit during move-out, and then on top of that when we called to notify them of move-out on the 2nd they told us we would be charged for the whole month anyhow (29 additional days) anyhow. OK, what everyone else has said ... they keep increasing rates. 3 times now in 16 months which has increased the rent nearly 50% since StoragePro took over. There is no way their 'expenses' are climbing that fast. Look at the dates and you'll see their reviews have tanked since StoragePro took over. read more

I have never seen a cleaner more well-run storage facility as Grass Valley Self Storage. The layout is great for big trucks or trailer and everything is actually spotless. The management goes out of their way to help and make any adjustments necessary. Moving and storage tends to be kind of a stressful time so when the storage place is secure, clean, well lit and everything works well we feel most secure and relaxed during the transition. The rates are also very good compared with others and the location is very nice amongst big trees and fresh air. read more

Watch them. They are very money hungry. We moved from the bay area and rented two storage facilities. Noticed they billed early for next month, then made late payment demands on the first so I started paying for a month in advance. I vacated on the 27th of the month of December. When I did the manager noted I was entitled to a refund for the month of January (because i paid It in advance). On beginning of February I remembered I hadn't received my refund and called. After two phone calls during which they were given the date of the payment they said they would have to look into it. I expressed my concern that their records must show my payments, and that I was suspicious that they were trying to take advantage. Still no payment. Called again, was told it was being reviewed by accounting. There is nothing to review. Their 12/1 bill showed I paid through 11/30. I have the banks photo of the check paying for December and January. They just hate to give money back. read more

After sending this letter, I spent months talking to Storage Pro managers, most of whom did not return my calls. Mr. Stephen Mirabito Storage Pro P.O. Box 459 Walnut Creek, CA 94497-0459 May, 26, 2018 Dear Mr. Mirabito: I am writing to make you aware of fraudulent practices being practiced at your Grass Valley self-storage facility. I rented a storage unit from your Grass Valley facility (Grass Valley Self Storage) from 2011 until early this month. When I first considered Grass Valley Storage in 2011, the price I was quoted was higher than several others in the area. The manager told me they would offer me a "competitive price". I rented the unit because it was close to my house and because I was offered the lower price. Over the years I rented from Grass Valley, I was unhappy about the steep increases in rent that came irregularly but frequently. I protested the price increases in writing to the managers several times but received no responses to my e-mails. As I was living in San Diego, it was inconvenient to move to another storage facility, so I remained with Grass Valley Storage. Finally, after yet another rent increase this year, I researched other storage facilities in the area and realized that I was paying more than I would have at any other facility I contacted. I move my belongings early this month. It was not until I spoke with someone moving into a neighboring unit to the one I was moving out of that I realized the fraud that had been perpetrated on me by the Grass Valley facility. As you will see in the attach e-mail from Grass Valley, my rent for my 10' x 20' unit was raised to $239 in December of last year. The person I spoke to who had just rented a unit next to and identical to mine told me he was being charged $179. Curious, I looked at Grass Valley Storage's web page on May 11th of this year, I found that the advertised price of the unit I was renting was, $172 (reduced to $165). When I then called Grass Valley on the same day and asked what it would cost to rent a 10' x 20' unit, I was quoted was $165. When I looked that the website again today, the price was $228 with a "web rate" of $221. I have to conclude that the management at Grass Valley uses a bait-and-switch technique of luring people in with low rents and then jacking up the price. I am not a lawyer, but I am advised that that this is a clear-cut case of fraud. Whether that is true or not, it is certainly unethical. I am giving you and your corporate management the benefit of the doubt assuming that you were not aware of these practices by your local management in Grass Valley. Other storage facility managers in the area were amazed when I told them what Grass Valley was doing. All of them assured me that this was very unusual in the industry. Nevada City storage has a policy of never raising a client's rent once they sign a contract. Others said that rent increases of 3% to 5% annually were more the norm. Over the time I rented from Grass Valley, my rent increased an average of 12% per year - and this was at a time of practically no inflation in the economy. In 2017, Grass Valley Storage increased my rent over 32%. I am taking the time to write this letter because I believe that Grass Valley Storage should be punished for their deceptive practices. The minimum I believe would be fair is for your company to reimburse me for the total amount of rent I have paid above the either agreed on amount or advertised amount for the entire time I rented from Grass Valley. I hope you appreciate my revelations and l look forward to your response. Should you defend the managers of Grass Valley, or tell me that this type of deception is your standard corporate practice, I assure you I am not one to walk away from an injustice such as this. The positives...in-town location is great and facility is nice. We have had storage here for 3 years and just gave notice. Ever since the new Storage Pro management took over a year+ ago, our rent has skyrocketed multiple times. 2-3 rent increases last year (and they are significant increases.. $20+ per month) and just received a notice for a $50/month increase! Heck no... we're out! They say "Supply and Demand"... we say greed and highway robbery. The previous owners/management company was super pleasant to deal with and used to be "in line" with other storage in area. Now I think they are way out of line... find elsewhere unless you are desperate or wealthy. read more

I have used a several storage units in Grass Valley for extra inventory for our business. This is by far the worst place I have delt with in Grass Valley. The staff is unbelievably rude. We have had problems with mice and lizards in our unit as well. If you are looking for storage I would stear clear of this place. These people need to smile a little more. The location is good but I believe this is also the most expensive place in town. read more

Almost 4 years ago, when it became necessary to move and we needed a truck to use, the managers at Grass Valley Storage allowed us to use theirs free for the entire day and we filled 2 storage units. Whenever we visited the property, which was often, it was clean and secure, and cleanliness included the rest room. The folks are friendly and helpful, and when moving out last week I was given the truck to use as a gesture of good will, since I had been a customer for so long. Thank you GVS, I would store my belongings with you anytime, no hesitation, and my husband Frank Bordieri feels the same. 5 stars!! read more

Do not do business with this company. We have been there for 8 years and they keep increasing the rent. We started out at $185.00 a month and now it is $356.00 a month. We are on S.S. and I get paid on the second Wednesday of every month. All the other managers that were there would waive the late payment for us if we paid a part of the rent on or before the 10th of the month. then pay the balance when I got paid. Now they will not work with you any more. All they care about is the almighty dollar. Now it cost me over $400.00 this month because she would not waive late fee. They are higher then any other storage around. Go any place but here and save your self lots of money. They just don't care about helping the customer just want your money. read more

I have rented the largest size unit they have here for the last year. They are very nice and clean. Staff is helpful and willing to work with you if you need t stay late after the gates close. The only thing is the price is a bit steep, but otherwise, I would recommend them. read more

Rented a unit and vacated it a month early. It was prepaid a month ahead. Was told by Manager Susan Walker on 5/31/2016 that $200 refund would come in a week or two from office in San Francisco. 5 weeks have elapsed and all I get is excuses and no refund after repeated phone calls and messages left. Susan quickly became offended that I came in person to check on refund status and declared the conversation over and requested me to leave. If activity and effort don't yield results, next step is small claims court. Not personal, just business! read more
