No way. NO WAY! Definitely not a 3+ star experience. Lets start with the bread. The bread is like the epitome of American processed breads. yes, it's soft, but flavorless and SMOTHERED and DESTROYED by the excessive amounts of mayonnaise they put on. The meats were mediocre at best. They didn't skimp though, so that's a good thing. I got the Sub King Cold Cut to share with my GF. As I've mentioned there was a generous amount of meat. The sandwich was 6.50ish (more or less). You know what, usually I have so much to say about a place - whether good or bad - but I don't know what to say about this place. The veggies were chopped up -- ugh. I like my tomatoes sliced, not diced up. Same with my pickles. That way I get an even bite every time. Oh yeah, and no lettuce. Man, I don't know if it's purists that don't eat their subs without lettuce or what, but I need some lettuce on my sandwich. Maybe you had to ask for it? But how should I have known. There was no description on what toppings were available - nor differences in bread. I noticed someone got a wheat sandwich - I def would've opted for this had I known. I just can't get enough! I just can't get enough!!! A local favorite! I have been coming to this place for as long as I can remember! Anything and everything will satisfy your cravings. My go to? The sub club 3 turkey, bacon avocado...I prefer mine on wheat bread, dry with no bacon but everything else. The bread is soft, the turkey is thinly sliced but packed on heavily. I came here because I saw the reviews on yelp. First off, customer service was god awful. I was never greeted but with a "can you close the door". The door stayed open and we didn't realize it. We closed it no problem. Once the girl came to the front she never said anything but sat and stared at the tv. I asked questions since I had never been here and she had very short answers like I was bugging her from watching soccer on tv. This makes me never want to come back. We took our sandwiches home and my sandwich had cheese and I asked for no cheese. So strike 2! Overall the sandwich was pretty good except the cheese that I was trying to take off and save all of the other ingredients. The bread was soft and seemed fresh. Subway's got nothing on Sub King! I started eating at Sub King more than 10 years ago, and have not found a better sub anywhere else. There seems to have been a change in management (or kitchen staff) at some point, but the quality of food remains the same. I can understand some of Darren's criticisms; I think being a regular definitely helps you when it comes to ordering your sandwich the way that you want it. I've never had a problem with the customer service, though. Prices are very reasonable -- I used to get coupons in the mail, which gave me an even better deal, but I haven't seen those in a while. Simple but Amazing!!! Cheap cheap cheap I love that . I had the Sub King Number 3 that was a really good sandwich nothing to fancy but lots of meat loved the diced onions and pickles gave it a nice crunch the bread was soft but held the sandwhich nicely .My lunch was under 10$ I can't wait to come back and try the menu if your in the area and want something delicious and filling check it out . I thoroughly enjoy Sub King. I don't know if it's their onion-tomato mixture that just really seems to understand me or if it's the fact that it's always kinda dead when I stop in... But whatever it is, I like it (call me an introvert for either fact-- see if I care!). Bread quality is good, though I do wish they had a whole-wheat option. Not exactly crusty, so don't come expecting that. Meats are pretty good/ staple-- nothing crazy; I can say the same for all the other toppings. The best part of SubKing is that they're always offering deals-- 2/ $12, which is TOTALLY worth it, and I think a deal via Yelp Check-In. Subs are a decent size, though they aren't really filled with a lot of greens. Just some good meats, cheeses, meats-- you know, the "tasty" stuff. Every sub I've ever ordered (I've typically done the "staple" subs-- no tuna or chicken for me, though) has been pretty bomb-tastic. My only complaint is the sodium content, but that's kinda to be expected. I mean, this isn't a juice cleanse... And I think that's what I really love about SubKing. It's nothing flashy or fancy. It doesn't pretend to be healthy (heyyyyy, Subway...); it doesn't pretend to be more-than-a-bomb-sub (heyyyyy, Quizno's!). It's an understated staple place that does subs solid. You're pretty much a "go" for anything on the menu, and with the good deals, it's totally worth a try. read more

This is by far my favorite local sandwich shop in the desert - hands down. I have been coming to Sub King ever since I moved out here in 1990 and it has never changed. Usually this place is aight. At lunch they half step on service and the register people are dumb as rocks. The Asian guy that seems to be runnin the joint is a jerk to customers too. I ADORE SUBKING! My brother said he would give his left nut if it was required to keep this place open. That says a lot... My brother and I make a trip to Subking every time he comes home to visit (he is in northern CA currently). I live in Riverside and will drive the hour and a half just for a sub sandwich at Subking. My brother and I even made two trips to Subking in one day (once for lunch and once for dinner lol). I LOVE the aroma of the place upon entering - savory Italian is what comes to mind. I always order a large turkey avocado with Italian dressing (instead of the mayo). The BREAD is amazingly soft. Everything tastes fresh. Sandwiches are packed full. So my office relocated out to Palm Desert for the time being and I always try to find the best spots to eat at with reasonable prices. Sub King definitely fits the bill for my lunch time fix. This place was recommended to be my another co-worker. The decor on the outside isn't really appealing and when you walk in, it gives off a "hole in a wall" feeling. They make the sandwiches pretty quick but their service is a bit on the mediocre side. However, you will come back for the sandwiches! I usually get the Sub Club 3, which is the avocado, bacon and turkey sub. It comes with lettuce, tomato, onions pickles and mayo but I exclude the onions and pickles. They haven't messed up on my order yet and I am thankful for that. The white bread is fairly soft and easy to chew. The ingredients used taste fresh and they give you a good amount of meat in the sandwich. I usually don't get chips so I get to fully enjoy this sub. For the amount that you pay, you get a lot of sandwich. There is a subway literally across the street but I'd rather go to Sub King any day. Ahhh Sub King, truly the king of subs. Religiously ate here about 3-4 times per week during high school and make sure to come back for a sub whenever I am back in the desert. I normally get the roast beef, avocado, and swiss with lettuce, onions, tomatoes, and pepperoncinis on wheat with light mayo and mustard. The meatball sub is also very delicious and highly recommended as well. What sets this place apart from other inferior sub joints is the bread, diced toppings, and the avocado. There is something about the bread here, it's nothing too fancy but I love how it's a little chewy. They mash the avocados (like guacamole except without the onions, tomatoes, etc...) which is a brilliant idea. This insures an even distribution of the awesomeness to every bite, and also prevents from avocado slices squirting out the bottom of your sub when biting into it. It's around 5 dollars for a small (6inch) and 7 dollars for a large (12inch) which is not too bad. Also you get free refills here and they can make Arnold Palmers, which is the perfect compliment to a Sub King sub. They changed management last year but rest assured all the trade secrets have been passed along and nothing really has changed. The only difference I could tell was the lettuce was shredded slightly thinner than I remember. So I highly recommend this place for an affordable and oh so delicious lunch, and after you can mosey on over next door for a drink at The Hood. read more
