We had Jeff come out and grind the stumps of a mountain ash tree and a holly tree. He did a wonderful, efficient job. I had him grind down the roots of the mountain ash tree in my neighbor's yard too. They were protruding above ground and were a trip hazard. Excellent and quick work done at a fair price. A few weeks after Jeff came to our house for the mountain ash and holly tree, I had him come back. Our huge pussy willow tree that was only supposed to be a shrub but had grown to 35 feet or more needed to come down. It had grown into our sewer line and its roots had filled the line. After the plumbers left and I'd taken the tree down to a stump, I had Jeff grind the stump down 1 foot below the soil. Again, he did an excellent job with his custom equipment, making short work of a stump I never want to see again. Great work, with fantastic economy of motion at a very fair price. Jeff is such a professional. We called Monday evening, he returned the call Tuesday morning, said he'd stop by Wednesday & could probably get the work done while he was there. He gave us a very fair quote, which we accepted & he got the work done that very day. The part that makes him stand out from the rest is that our job ended up being WAY bigger & WAY more work than he could have known or seen. Someone had poured cement around the tree stump below ground, so he didn't find it until it broke one of his blades, and caused him a lot of hassle. Jeff being the pro he was didn't try to charge us more, or walk out on the job. I was very happy with the service I received from Stump Grinding Northwest. I called them around 8:30 in the morning and asked for an estimate. By 10:30, I received a call back saying they would be there at noon. They arrived promptly, gave me an estimate, and were ready to do the work right then. Jeff was great! I had three tree stumps, two of which were located in particularly challenging locations. He has a special hand-held (very heavy!) machine for stump grinding in tight locations, and was able to get the job done within 1-1/2 hours. He gave a discount on having three trees removed at once, and the overall price was very fair. I was referred to Jeff by a friend who used his services and neighbors on the Nextdoor app has had good things to say about his company so I thought I'd give him a ring. I was very pleased with the business side of things as well as the work that was executed. He grinded down four really big and hardwood stumps and four smaller ones. I thought I'd come home with wood shavings 'all over my yard' but that wasn't the case. The wood material was left in a neat pile in the hole it would have created when the grinding was one. He was here promptly and got the job done quickly. Jeff has done three jobs at our home. He's removed the stumps of a cherry tree, a tree of heaven, and a butterfly bush and a small holly. Last Monday, June 8, 2020, he removed two stands of bamboo that were spreading toward our house. Jeff does excellent work, besides being timely and courteous: it is a pleasure to work with him. I had an enormous uprooted stump from the recent windstorm. I called Jeff who returned my call the next day. He came out assessed the situation and gave a very reasonable estimate. A couple of days later he was back. He ground the stump a foot below grade and chased down large and distant roots. He went above and beyond! Very impressed with the speed with which Jeff returned my call, was able to come out and give an estimate, and schedule us in on short notice (we were in danger of a construction project being held up; he squeezed us in). He was able to maneuver in a challenging space and was very mindful of not damaging the roots of a nearby tree, which was a concern he raised himself but was able to work around. I emailed Jeff via Yelp and he replied that same day. Came out to my home within 2 days and very quickly took care of one stump by grinding it down. The other stump was not a good candidate for grinding without damaging the scrubs around it so he cut that stump down as far as he could so and with time it will not be seen as the scrubs will grow over it.
