He is an experienced arborist and has been caring for the trees of the Northwest for many years. We have had Robert and his team do tree work for us two times this year at different properties. Timely response for an estimate, Robert was professional, friendly and informative on what my tree needed for pruning which was exactly I was projecting. After a large tree branch came down in a recent windstorm, destroying a backyard gate, I looked for an outfit to remove the branch. I contacted Arborist Alliance and within an hour Robert came by to assess. And within an hour after that he had a crew onsite to remove the branch and debris. They also checked the other branches for stability. Fast, efficient, and knowledgable. Robert and his team did a terrific job-Robert came out and gave an estimate for the removal of a very large broken branch that was over the roof of the house and was quite frankly scaring the heck out of my 90-year-old mother. After the estimate she asked to have a 2nd branch removed from a 2nd tree and they were more than happy to oblige. I used this company a few years back. Most of the work was done while I was at home on a Saturday. Not the best job in the world, but decent. The issue came because (silly me) I PAID them with a check for the full job, and they were supposed to come back the following Monday to remove the giant stump in the middle of my yard. They didn't come Monday or Tuesday and no call. I called THEM on Wednesday and was told they'd be out the following day. Repeat this scenario about 3 or 4 times with them never showing up. They'd already cashed my check first thing that Monday morning and so weeks later I had paid about $1200 paid for the entire job, which included stump removal, yet still had the stump in my back yard. My calls eventually went completely unanswered except for a brief conversation with his wife, who hung up on me. I was frustrated and angry, and very surprised at this treatment since they were supposed to be ISA certified arborists. I called the ISA and found that the owner was not a member. I wrote ISA a letter and received no response. BEWARE because Apex is now doing business as ACTION TREE SERVICE LLC with the same owner, ROBERT GANDT (his name is on their promo material so not breaching his privacy). Watch out - and at the very least, withhold payment until the job is completely finished. read more

Our neighbors had Robert and his team out to do work for them, and we asked for an estimate for trimming our trees, too. Robert was speedy with the estimate. He had to reschedule due to a tree emergency (I was glad that he took the time to help out someone else with a dangerous tree), and he came out with his team the next day. They trimmed 3 trees, roped one together (better for the tree than a cable), and removed two trees that were too close to the house. And cleaned up so well that you wouldn't have known that he was there - except that my trees look great and my house has a LOT of additional light! read more

Beware!! Robert Gandt also goes by Apex Arboriculture and Action Tree Service. His bill has the ISA logo on it but he does not come up under ISA certification. This company chain-sawed away the lower third on just one side of our healthy, beautiful Deodar cedar - except for the branches that hang over the neighbor's yard, which can be legally removed. Also, I later found out Deodars should be left in a natural state. I thought they were going to remove one lower branch. Their website states they thoroughly discuss all intended work with the owner but this was not the case. Our tree looks lop-sided and terrible. Now instead of beautiful green outside my window I have noise, dust, lack of privacy and no shade. Watch out if you love your trees! read more
