We have an old tulip tree whose branches had grown too heavy in one direction and reached far over our roof in the other. The tree is loved by the whole family and we needed trustworthy care to ensure its well-being in addition to our safety. This team took care to only do the work we specified, respecting the tree's natural wildness and shape while also providing practical thinning. The heavy branches were removed and the roof is now clear. What stands out is how a neighbor described watching them work - he said they were like careful artists, choosing between even the smallest shoots. Another friend said the result was similar to the trimming of a bonsai master. Our tree is much happier, relieved of potential breakage, and we still have the shade covering needed as the front of the house faces West. As a lovely touch, my yard and driveway were left cleaner than before the work had started. We used the same tree service for 8 years and when they became too expensive, we decided to get a few other bids. Seattle Tree Care was reasonably priced and provided some of the best service we've ever experienced. Connor came to our home to provide a bid, gave us recommendations in addition to addressing our requests. He was very knowledgeable, knew each type of tree and the best approach to caring for them (I also loved how the bid had photos of each, which limbs outlined, it made it easy to understand what was going to be done). STC had a slight delay to get on the calendar (busy summer season), but the three arborists that came to our house did a *phenomenal* job. I work from home, and when I went out to walk the dog, they'd ask questions and explain some of their decisions, and the amount of clean up they did was incredible. I was shocked at how my yard (which hadn't been landcaped yet, since we just moved in months prior) looked so much better. These 3 were thorough, careful with the *large* limbs they had to remove off our very mature trees, took down a couple of dead trees and hemlocks that grew too closely to our home, among many other things. They were here two full days, if that gives you an idea of the scope of the project. If I could give higher than 5 stars, I would. Thoughtful, polite arborists, that did an absolutely fantastic job, and went above and beyond on clean up. We have so many varieties of trees, some that had a lot of dead wood, some that had heavy, large limbs that hung over our house, some that needing sprucing up. Highly recommend. read more

Jason Harmon from Seattle Tree is about as incompetent as they get. He gave me a bid for a project shortly after a storm knocked a tree onto my apartment building and mentioned it would be a few weeks until they could get to it. I was totally fine with that schedule. A few days later I called the main office to see what forms of payment they accept. Immediately received an arrogant text from Jason cancelling my project and accusing me of "trying to sneak onto the schedule". In the end I am SO GLAD I didn't go with Seattle Tree Care. Found someone else who finished the job a few days later at half the cost. I own a lot of property in the Seattle area and I'm very active in the real estate community. Seattle Tree Care responded quickly when i called and sent out Sarah, an Arborist, and then with Mike who did the work with a colleague. Update: STC have redeemed themselves. They immediately responded to my complaint and were very apologetic, accepting full responsibility for having dropped the ball on amending my bill in a timely manner. They gave me the discount for the damaged bush as well as a discount for the trouble I went through. Mike Lair came to see me to express his regret at what I went through and said he was hoping to win back my trust in the company. He had an opportunity to do that today when several very large branches from the cedar fell on the sidewalk, luckily not doing damage to people, cars or property. He responded very quickly when I contacted him, took care of the fallen branches and came up with a plan for how to address keeping the tree healthy and safe. We all make mistakes. My garden had become The Secret Garden as it was so overgrown, to the point where I couldn't deal with it anymore. I found Seattle Tree Care via Google and did my vetting: A+ BBB, Reviews were awesome--so I called for a consult. Dylan and his 'tree climber' associate were very nice, very informative and listened to all my thoughts adding in their thoughts when needed. The day came for the garden renewal (mind you, this was a Fir Tree, Magnolia, Rhodies, two Japanese Maples, taking down a small Yew Tree, and a few other large bushes that had become trees). Four people came, the site manager took me around to show me their plan, prior to lunch break she did the same to ask what I thought and my thoughts for the rest of the work that day. At the end of the day, once again the walk around, with me claiming my amazement at their work, how nice it looked, the plants were all light and airy now---it truly was a huge project done very efficiently and with very nice workers. Since I did not obtain other bids, I can't speak for value--but I can say that the cost seemed in alignment with my prior pruning of only two trees in the past. I did not think the cost was outside of an acceptable range. I would highly recommend this company based on my experience. I know there are other not so great reviews on YELP; but my experience was totally their opposite. The staff was responsive, great at communication (I was notified by text the team would be arriving 10 minutes earlier!), stellar work and they cleaned up the property of all debris created and just general tree debris. At about 7 pm on a dark and windy Thursday night, a very large red maple cracked in half and a good portion of it fell onto an adjacent tree and a fence with our neighbors's cars barely missed. The next day, on a Friday afternoon, Seattle Tree Care was in our backyard inspecting the tree, determined we were in a really hazardous situation and provided an estimate. I accepted the estimate late that afternoon and on a Saturday morning a very capable crew, including the owner, was on site with all kinds of equipment including a major chipper. By the end of the day, the entire tree was removed, the stump was ground down to grade and the site was raked clean. For us, avoiding damage to our house and two adjacent condo complexes was of tremendous value. While I would never wish this experience on anyone, we feel very fortunate to have found and used a company with this level of expertise and service and would recommend them whole heartedly. read more

He was resistant to my questions on the phone, resistant to visiting in person to diagnose the problem, and gave me patronizing "Don't worry, I'm on it, you'll hear from us" attitude before finally disappearing without doing the work. Another great job by STC at my house yesterday, pruning 4 trees (including a giant cedar). Especially notable: QUALITY/THOROUGHNESS. Prior to performing the work, STC sent over a certified arborist for a free consult with me about what I wanted and what was best for my trees' health, appearance and maintenance. I got a written estimate and knew exactly what would be done. On the project day, the team was careful to follow marked-up photos by the arborist (e.g., showing what limbs to remove) as well as to check in with me to confirm that I was getting what I wanted. VALUE. 6 hours by a skilled 2-person team - including climbing that cedar in a harness - cost me a little less than my other go-to landscaping company, and much less than other companies. This was a lot of work for a reasonable fee. Even if I'd DIYd the portion of the work that within my skill set, it would have taken me several weekends; STC did it all in half a day. They even offered a discount for pruning done in this dormant season (Jan/Feb). COURTESY. As usual, STC sent me a week-before reminder email & day-of text to confirm the day and time. Responsive, polite, and great job! Labor Day I got home from a hike at our small condo and I hear a bunch of cracking and popping down on a hillside on Fremont Ave. This tree looks awful and I show some neighbors around and we all freak out it's going to fall onto the street and crush a car or person. I called the emergency number and someone on call answered and came out in 30 minutes! (I do live right up the street from their HQ.) Peter(?) is wearing a mask and immediately takes a look and says the tree is "actively failing" and needs to be taken down ASAP, because it could fall on Fremont Ave like we thought. He rushes back to get a crew together (on Labor Day evening) and comes back about 2 hours later to cut down the failing tree with another guy, using a different truck that had a long cherry picker. It took them about 30 minutes to cut it down. All neighbors were out watching for the excitement. All were impressed. They left the trimmings and left open the side walk that night. The next morning they came back and chipped all the rest, sweeped up all the saw dust, and left us some cords of wood for us to use in our fire places this winter. It wasn't cheap, but in a crisis scenario where we needed it taken care of immediately, they were very professional and easy to work with! We had a neighbor two properties down sued for everything he was worth because a tree fell on a lady a few years back on Fremont Ave. He ended up having to sell the property to be able to pay the out of pocket costs! This was not going to happen to us, thanks to the emergency response by Seattle Tree Care! read more

I recently purchased a home and there are 2 large trees on my property. They look fine to me, but I am no expert. I asked to have someone come take a look at them and assess whether or not they are healthy or if they need to be taken down. Their response: "In your area, we typically only take on large projects that average ~$3k-5k." It's icky to me that a company--no matter how good they are--would throw out numbers before even seeing a project. It makes me feel like they would charge $3000 even if it's only a $500 job. I certainly would have no issues with paying $5000 if that is what it costs, but... I have no doubt that they are very good at what they do. They are obviously busy and can afford to filter out jobs: I get that. But don't pretend like it's anything but insulting to try to filter out the poors. read more

I wish I could write a positive review about Seattle Tree Care because in the past years their service, professionalism and diplomacy would have warranted 5 stars. We share a common area with our neighbors one street above us. (We live on the west slope of Queen Anne). So, they want the view and we want the privacy. Seattle Tree Care has been very good about accomplishing both goals. This year our portion of the invoice increased by 55% over past years' invoices. Our neighbors' invoice increased by a commensurate amount. And, to be clear, this year they did much less work. You should be aware you will be charged for travel time, lunch time and breaks. While I understand businesses wanting/needing to make up for their lost revenue from the pandemic, it is worth noting Seattle Tree Care worked throughout the pandemic (they performed our trimming last summer as always). So, it is both surprising and unfortunate they have decided to gouge us their loyal customers. When I questioned the invoice, I was met with an arrogant and condescending attitude. We will, of course, pay the invoice. But, the good news is there are other tree services in the Seattle area from which to choose. Seattle Tree Care has now lost two formerly satisfied customers. read more
