The entire experience with Northwest Arboriculture was top notch and I would highly recommend their services. I had eight trees removed from my property and my experience with Northwest Arboriculture was an excellent one. The entire crew of six were highly capable safety-minded individuals who showed up on time and were extremely organized and efficient in their methodology in removing the trees. They moved the cut trees safely to the wood chipper and cleaned up the property so no signs of debris was left. The team was very friendly, respectful and efficient at every stage of the process. From the initial call to the owner to schedule the bid, to the estimate visit from Matthew was a positive one that made me feel confident with my selection of this company. I think the pricing was extremely reasonable for the amount of time and effort to remove the large cottonwoods and maple trees from my yard. We've used NW Arboriculture several times over the years, and they've been consistently honest, ethical, competitively priced, and skilled. After our most recent project with them, I decided it was finally time to give Trent, Heather, and their outstanding team the great review they deserve. For this project, we obtained bids from three other companies in the area while waiting for Trent to come out and bid the project. (NW Arboriculture's only drawback is that they typically book out pretty far in advance, but I'll explain why that may be a good thing a bit later.) Two out of the other three local companies counseled us that we needed to remove a couple of very large trees (that we hadn't been worried about) - at a cost of thousands of dollars per tree - that were in danger of falling down due to disease or damage. Interestingly, their recommendations for which trees needed removal were not identical. The third company's estimator did not recommend the same removals, but the post-visit bidding process was strangely non-specific, and he contradicted himself multiple times during a single conversation. As we were still waiting for NW Arboriculture to come out and bid the project, we hired an independent arborist for a couple hundred bucks to come out and evaluate every tree and shrub on our property. That was money well-spent. He explained why much of what the first two companies' estimators told us was completely wrong. I suppose the generous interpretation is that they just didn't know what they didn't know. The less generous interpretation is that they're frankly unethical. When Trent from NW Arboriculture came out to bid the project, he told us the same stuff as did the independent arborist, which was tremendously reassuring. Further, the great thing about NWA is that the person who bids the project works the project. We had so many items on our bid, that I don't think things would have gone as smoothly if one of the other companies (which don't necessarily have the estimator on the job site) had done the job. Anyway, this is part of the reason why it takes so long for NWA to come out to bid; they have to balance giving estimates with actually doing work. But it's worth the wait. With respect to the work itself, the team was able to take down a bunch of trees without damaging any shrubs that they promised in advance to not damage. I think one had to be sacrificed, but we were counseled about that during the bidding process. They also were very patient and easy to work with during the trimming of some large trees, as we gave them feedback regarding the look we were trying to achieve. About 4-5 hours after starting this sizable project, they wrapped up and cleared away all debris, to the point where our driveway looks more pristine than it has all year. Then they moved on to my neighbor's house and spent the rest of the day there. I asked him if he was happy with their work, and he responded that they did outstanding work for him as well. In summary, I may not even bother with multiple bids in the future, as this process has proven that NWA is clearly one of the best tree removal companies, and unfortunately some of the others in this area are either less knowledgable and/or frankly unethical. read more

I needed a Tree Service to take down some trees. I had a couple tall trees too close to my house. They were shedding huge limbs during snow and wind storms. Each time a limb crashed down it was causing damage to my roof and gutters. I like trees but sadly these particular trees had to come down. I own a chainsaw but no way was I going to attempt this - time to call in the pros! Northwest Arboriculture is a small professional, efficient, courteous crew of tree professionals. It was amazing to watch them work. I got a free zero-pressure estimate which ended up being the least expensive of the three quotes I received. On tree cutting day they showed up on time and got to work immediately. They climbed the trees and limbed them on the way up. And then cut them in rounds from the top down and pushed them off. They chipped all the limbs and cleaned up everything like they had never even been there. All of them treated my property with the care I would have myself. We had a 75 foot branch/co-dominant trunk break from a 130 foot Douglas fir near the bluff in Edmonds during a wind storm. The branch fell on my home, my neighbor's home and demolished the fences in between. Thankfully, no one was injured. We needed help in a hurry and this was a complex, dangerous job in the middle of COVID19. We interviewed several outfits and it became clear Trent was the man to take on the job. I should have written this review years ago. In 2012 we had a very large cedar that cracked and needed to be removed before it fell onto my house. This was not a straight forward job. The cedar spit into 3 and the part that needed to be removed cracked off of the main base. The section of tree in question was 80+feet tall and 5 feet in diameter. Trent and his crew has to use a crane to secure the tree, cut, and then lift each section over my house. The process was exciting and terrifying to watch. The guys were amazing and left my house looking like nothing happened. read more

They pruned our hedge with an artfulness that exceeded my expectations. After pruning, they hauled away a huge amount of greenery and left our lot looking fantastic. We first used NW Arboriculture in Seattle around 13 years ago. Trent trimmed and stabilized a beautiful redbud that was starting to lean over the rockery above the sidewalk. We have continued to use the company every other year since moving to Bothell. Trent prunes and thins two lovely cherry trees that frame the front walkway, and he and his crew prune the maple trees and keep them away from the roof. The crew cleans up everything before leaving.
