Western Hemlock Tree & Stump Service - Hedge trimming with a bucket truck

Western Hemlock Tree & Stump Service

My neighbor and I hired Western Hemlock Tree & Stump Removal to do selective pruning on a shared…read moreWestern white pine, and the result was devastating. We agreed to pruning after a branch had previously fallen on my neighbor's house, so we wanted the work done responsibly and according to an arborist's recommendations. The tree is also classified as a Tier 2 tree under Seattle code (previously called an "exceptional tree"), which made it even more important that the pruning be done carefully and conservatively. Before any work was done, I hired an arborist to evaluate the tree and provide a report, which was referenced in the contract. Unfortunately, it became obvious afterward that they either never read the report or completely ignored its recommendations. The tree was massively overtrimmed and heavily underskirted to the point that it now looks mutilated. I am genuinely depressed every time I look at it. What was once a beautiful mature tree now looks stripped and unnatural. The company never communicated with us directly before doing the work and instead coordinated only with my neighbor while I was out of town. At no point did they review the plan with us, discuss the arborist recommendations, or confirm the scope of pruning before cutting. To their credit, they did provide a partial refund afterward, but it does not make up for the irreversible damage done to the tree or the distress this has caused. We hired professionals because we wanted careful, informed tree care -- not permanent damage. Extremely disappointed.

Treee133 thoroughly impressed me; I was extremely pleased with the every aspect of our interactions. Everyone involved was knowledgable, professional, and very friendly, from initial contact through the free assessment/estimate and finally to the work crew who came out to handle the job. They were prompt in all their responses, showed up when they said they would, and finished the work quickly and cleanly. I could not have been happier with the outcome. I will not hesitate to call them again If I find myself needing similar services.

They weren't the cheapest or the most expensive bid we got for the work; but they were the most professional, the most organized, and the most focused on both the aesthetic work of the trimming AND the health of the trees. They are a great company to work with if: you want the work done well, the first time. You want your trees and property to look better afterwards. You don't want to worry about a person accidentally catapulting off a hundred foot tall Douglas Fir on your property. You value arborists that show up on time and are a well organized, detail-oriented team. On my research: One company reached out to us for tree work when we first moved in - their quote was triple what Tree133 ended up charging, so I put the work off for a couple of years. When I decided to get quotes for the work: another company was nice, but did not show up when we asked them to for the quote because I wanted to walk through the work with them, took a week to deliver the quote, and was half of what Tree133 ended up charging. A third company didn't even call us back. A fourth company was so disorganized that we couldn't even set up a time for a quote.

The on-site crew- Brian, Donnie and Tyler-were great. They were on time, kept me continually informed of their process, made suggestions and improvements to prevent future damage, answered any questions I had and were always polite. The cleanup was nice as well. This was my first experience with a tree service and would hire them again if needed!

I really appreciated how they owned the entire end-to-end process, including coordinating directly with the city on the permit. That made everything much easier for me. The crew did an amazing job on both visits. Their pruning work was incredibly precise, and everything looks beautiful. They also did a thorough job cleaning up afterward, leaving the yard in great condition. There was a minor misunderstanding between myself and the project manager initially, but Eastside Tree Works handled it exceptionally well. They followed up with me, took the time to listen and understand exactly what I wanted, and promptly sent the crew back to complete the additional work. The crew truly went above and beyond. This was my second time working with Eastside Tree Works, and I would absolutely hire them again. I continue to recommend them to others. I really appreciate their customer service and love supporting small businesses like this. It's not always easy to find companies that care this much about doing great work and making sure their customers are happy. Thank you! And, extra shout out to Amanda. She is the best.
