We heard about Apical Tree Services from Plant Amnesty…read more(http://www.plantamnesty.org/home/index.aspx). Plant Amnesty only recommends people who are ISA Certified in tree pruning and actively concerned about tree welfare (something about not topping trees?). We have three massive Big Leaf maple trees on our property on a steep hill. Apical Tree Services came by and provided an estimate for our trees to clean-out the deadwood and clear the lower branches that were too close to the sidewalk. They were very conscious of the privacy that we want to maintain with the tree branches. They worked for quite a few hours with a guy crazy high in our trees cutting out the deadwood, and a man below (who had set up cones to keep passerbys from getting hurt) who would send the branches through a large wood chipper. They cleaned out a ton of dead wood, and the trees looked fantastic and healthy afterwards. The guy (maybe Andrew?) also walked around the trees with me afterward to explain the health of my trees, and a few problems that I should keep my eye on in the next 5-10 years. Professional and I would totally work with them again!

Wonderful service. My former arborist retired so this was my first time working with Apical,…read morerecommended by my mom. Rodger was very easy to communicate with, helpful and kind. It was so easy to get a quote and work was done very timely. I had a large dead native cherry removed from a very crowded neighborhood in NE Seattle. As requested, they took extra care not to damage any of my many plants surrounding the dead tree and also removed all the rounds and branches. My yard looks pristine after the removal. Will definitely use them again. Price was comparable to other quotes I had. A great value for the quality of work.

Trent stopped by to take a look and was an absolute pleasure to discuss the risk posed by the tree. You can tell he lives, breathes, and loves trees. I asked a lot of questions eager for his expertise. We left feeling extremely comfortable we can keep our tree, with good homework on how to gauge future risk. Thanks Trent and NW Arbor!

We've used NW Arboriculture several times over the years, and they've been consistently honest,…read moreethical, competitively priced, and skilled. After our most recent project with them, I decided it was finally time to give Trent, Heather, and their outstanding team the great review they deserve. For this project, we obtained bids from three other companies in the area while waiting for Trent to come out and bid the project. (NW Arboriculture's only drawback is that they typically book out pretty far in advance, but I'll explain why that may be a good thing a bit later.) Two out of the other three local companies counseled us that we needed to remove a couple of very large trees (that we hadn't been worried about) - at a cost of thousands of dollars per tree - that were in danger of falling down due to disease or damage. Interestingly, their recommendations for which trees needed removal were not identical. The third company's estimator did not recommend the same removals, but the post-visit bidding process was strangely non-specific, and he contradicted himself multiple times during a single conversation. As we were still waiting for NW Arboriculture to come out and bid the project, we hired an independent arborist for a couple hundred bucks to come out and evaluate every tree and shrub on our property. That was money well-spent. He explained why much of what the first two companies' estimators told us was completely wrong. I suppose the generous interpretation is that they just didn't know what they didn't know. The less generous interpretation is that they're frankly unethical. When Trent from NW Arboriculture came out to bid the project, he told us the same stuff as did the independent arborist, which was tremendously reassuring. Further, the great thing about NWA is that the person who bids the project works the project. We had so many items on our bid, that I don't think things would have gone as smoothly if one of the other companies (which don't necessarily have the estimator on the job site) had done the job. Anyway, this is part of the reason why it takes so long for NWA to come out to bid; they have to balance giving estimates with actually doing work. But it's worth the wait. With respect to the work itself, the team was able to take down a bunch of trees without damaging any shrubs that they promised in advance to not damage. I think one had to be sacrificed, but we were counseled about that during the bidding process. They also were very patient and easy to work with during the trimming of some large trees, as we gave them feedback regarding the look we were trying to achieve. About 4-5 hours after starting this sizable project, they wrapped up and cleared away all debris, to the point where our driveway looks more pristine than it has all year. Then they moved on to my neighbor's house and spent the rest of the day there. I asked him if he was happy with their work, and he responded that they did outstanding work for him as well. In summary, I may not even bother with multiple bids in the future, as this process has proven that NWA is clearly one of the best tree removal companies, and unfortunately some of the others in this area are either less knowledgable and/or frankly unethical.
