I got my third lobe piercings done at Studs last week. It was my first time visiting, and while the front desk staff were very kind and welcoming, I left feeling disappointed with the piercing experience itself.
The biggest issue was that my piercer didn't provide the professional guidance I was hoping for. Rather than offering recommendations on placement, she mostly said, "It's your body, so you should get the placement you like." While I appreciate respecting a client's preferences, I was specifically looking for an expert opinion. I would have appreciated guidance on typical third lobe placement, balanced spacing between piercings, and what would best suit my anatomy.
I asked her to remark the placement several times because I wasn't fully confident in the positioning. While I was deciding, she mentioned that she had other appointments behind me. I understand that appointments run on a schedule, but that comment made me feel rushed during a decision that I had been carefully considering for months.
Unfortunately, after the piercing was done, I felt that the third lobe was placed too close to my second lobe on my left ear, and the spacing doesn't match my right ear. I left the appointment wishing I had spoken up more, but I also wish I had received stronger professional guidance to help me feel confident in my decision.
Considering I spent nearly $400, I expected a more consultative experience. Instead, I left feeling like I would have been better off going somewhere like Rowan. That's especially disappointing because this was a piercing I'd been excited about for a long time.
On a positive note, the jewelry change was quick and easy, and the front desk staff were friendly and helpful throughout my visit. I just wish the piercing consultation had included more reassurance, expertise, and guidance so I could have left feeling excited about my new piercings rather than uncertain. read more
