Went in about a year ago to get a tattoo. I was eager, so even though I didn't know anyone who had gone to this shop I saw the good reviews and took a chance. A few things to know about the shop: it's open concept, this made privacy non existent. It also lends to the artists chatting with one another in lieu of their clients. If you're on the quieter side, you either need to be comfortable speaking up in your appointment or find another place. I've seen them put some good work out, but my experience was awkward at best, and I really wish I'd had the chance to speak up make some changes to the design rather than feeling steamrolled. read more

If you're thinking of a place to get your first tattoo, I recommend this place 100%. Everyone there was so nice and welcoming. The artist I got my tattoo done by was Gio, I recommend asking for him although every artist there has so much talent. Even though I have 7 tattoos, this was my biggest one so I was pretty nervous. But the way their studio is and the way everyone is so friendly, it didn't even feel as if I was in a tattoo studio, which calmed my nerves. Gio is actually the best tattoo artist I've had. He does his lines so perfectly, even the shading. He works with a light hand so you literally cannot feel much pain, although everyone has a different pain tolerance. This was my first time getting shading done as well, but because of Gio I honestly did not feel the pain one bit. I walked in today without an appointment and was immediately welcomed in by the artists. The environment in the shop was relaxed and very friendly. I was asked what I was thinking of getting and when I told them I wanted a cicada tattoo (which I honestly expected a bit of a chuckle from them) and they really hyped me up and made the whole experience so much fun. Jonathan put so much time into drawing my tattoo with all of my references in mind and asked me tons of questions about different elements of the tattoo I wanted included. I had a few ideas before going in but was completely blown away by how much detail and effort he took to make it exactly what I wanted. He made sure I was comfortable and really took the time to make sure I didn't feel rushed or anxious. The tattoo came out absolutely beautiful and was perfect in ways that I couldn't have imagined beforehand. I would highly recommend going here and will definitely be back! We have used Dixer tattoo for five tattoos in the last 6 month. I scheduled three more appointments for my daughter, husband and myself. We brought in our own artwork, got quoted a price of $400 for my husband's tattoo and $350 for my daughter and my matching family tattoos. We paid the $100 deposit for each of our appointments. We show up today for our 5pm appointment to be asked to wait 30 minutes while they eat dinner. Okay got it, a man's got to eat! We come back up and immediately we are asked what we were quoted. I shared that dixer himself quoted the tattoos and his wife scheduled them. Dixer proceeds to tell my husband and I that our tattoos would be at least another 200 each. Mind you, my daughter went in for her appointment the week before and paid 350 for the same tattoo I am now being told was 500-600. Dixer told me that I was quoted 500-600 for each. I have a picture of theor calendar with the notes stating the prices we were originally quoted. So we decided we were going to jist leave. We walked out, my husband left his sunglasses, went back in to grab them right in the middle of a lime by line conversation stating that I was right. The calendar said $350 & $400. My husband looked him right in the eyes and turned around and left. I have the proof if anyone would like to see it. I will say that we always use Exposed Temptations but gave a new artist a try at Dixer. We did like the work done thus we made more appointments. But honestly if you would rather your artists sit around for 2 hours instead of bringing in $750 plus we always tip 35%, well good for you. We will not be back for our full back pieces but we will continue to follow our tattoo artist we love there and wait for them to move elsewhere to go back. Shady does not even begin to describe what went down today. I wish your business the best of luck and I will miss chatting with your amazing wife but honestly, be honest. If you made a mistake on the quote two weeks before than say it don't try to lie to your customers. read more

So they were running a Friday the 13th special on tattoos and piercings. I decided to get a piercing and I've been wanting my daith pierced for a while. They opened at 11am so I got there at 10:50 to allow plenty of time for the wait since I figured the day would be busy. Everyone waiting already wanted tattoos, so I was the only one waiting for a piercing. When I got called back for it I told the woman I wanted the daith on my right ear pierced. She was flustered setting up because she was also trying to work the door and people coming in. She initially walked around to my left side and I had to reiterate I wanted it on my right side. Not a big deal, it's opposite of your persons side and I get my right and left mixed up too. When she got everything set up she then just pierced my right ear. No pen mark to make sure it was even or in the right spot. Nope just going straight in for the hole. Then putting the earring in she kept dropping the rings and balls. Again, wasn't a big deal. She would get clean ones out and try again. I know those things are small and tricky, so as long as clean ones were being used I wasn't bothered by this. Then I got to look in the side mirror instead of a hand held mirror, which really should be used for ear piercings for a closer look. The ring used was massive so I thought it looked in the right spot just big, I didn't want to touch my ear. Once I got in the elevator I took a picture of my ear for a better look and guess what I realized. She pierced my rook instead of my daith. So as anyone who gets or gives piercings should know these are two very different spots and don't even sound similar. I understand they were busy because of the special, but I said I wanted a daith twice and it's a well known piercing. This kind of thing shouldn't happen in a reputable and professional place. I am so glad I opted against getting a tattoo as well. Will not be going back to this place and already warned others who were planning on going against it. So they can learn proper piercings I included a photo to put up in their establishment so hopefully this doesn't happen again. Also I came home and removed the piercing immediately so hopefully I'll have minimal scaring. read more

Dixer will put in the work but you have to be aware that his pricing is EXTREMELY high, even for the NOVA area. His hourly rate is outrageous and the work, even though acceptable, is not commensurate to his pricing. I can not honestly recommend this artist due to his pricing. To put it gently, you can probably get an equally good (or even better) tattoo, for much less and still have enough money left over... a few hundred bucks actually! read more

I trusted him then by letting him free hand the whole sleeve and he did an impeccable job and I trusted him just recently by letting him do a portrait of my mom. The outcome was more than I expected.
