I've been a patient at this office for over 10 years, but unfortunately this will be my last visit. I purchased a one-year supply of contact lenses after being told multiple times by the front desk staff that I would receive a $400 rebate. The cost of a full year supply is significant for me, but based on that information, I decided to move forward with the purchase. When I later went to submit the rebate, I discovered it was only $250. I contacted the office to address the discrepancy and was very disappointed with how it was handled. I was told it was not their responsibility, and the receptionist was extremely rude, dismissive, and unwilling to acknowledge the mistake or even offer a simple apology. While I didn't expect them to undo the purchase, I did expect some level of accountability or customer care. I followed up with an email to express my concerns and was completely ignored. It's incredibly frustrating to be misinformed about something that directly impacts a costly decision, and even more frustrating to be treated so poorly when trying to resolve it. Because of this experience, they have lost not only me as a patient, but also my husband. I would not recommend this office based on their lack of professionalism and customer service. read more

Ill qualify it by saying I had 3 vaccine shots the day before (yes I know, what was I thinking) and was feeling less than stellar and the entire staff was super kind and thoughtful. My appointment with Dr. Yaz (Dr Yazdanmehr Emetisse) who is full of that kind of empathy you wish every physician had, was full of grace, she chatted with me - i direct commercials and I showed her one I did for bausch and Lomb which she loved - and made me feel very comfortable, gave me an in-depth assessment of my prescription choices and never pressured me for any kind of purchase. DO NOT GO HERE. This place is the used car lot of eye doctors--pushy, overpriced, and all about the upsell. I went last year and immediately felt like I was being sold to, not cared for. I dropped thousands on overpriced glasses I don't even like, but let it slide because I had good insurance. The entire thing is set up like a sales pitch. Not care. Fast forward a year: I run out of contacts and call to (1) reschedule my annual exam so I can order more and (2) ask for a sample box to get me through. They flat-out refuse to give me a few contacts to hold me over. After all the money I spent here, they won't give me a few trial lenses to hold me over? I am almost blind and can't work out in glasses. Also, despite spending THOUSANDS of dollars on them here, they are ugly. So I called my previous eye doctor - the one I stupidly ditched because this place looked "nicer" (spoiler: it's not). - and they immediately said, "Of course, come pick up 14 contacts today." Bottom line: this place is crowded, overpriced, aggressively salesy, and couldn't care less about your actual needs. The vibes are bad. Stay away. read more

TL;DR: severe suffering for a year until I got new glasses from a different optometrist. I will never return. Nor will other members of my family. --- One star due to increasingly frequent headaches and escalating levels of eye discomfort, strain, and pain since June 2023 due to eye glasses prescribed and made for me by this optometry. The reason I am now so sure my prolong suffering was caused by Studioeyes eye glasses - I went to a different optometrist for a second opinion and have been COMPLETELY HEADACHE and EYE PAIN FREE since I received my new glasses on 8/13/2024. I was a Studioeyes customer for years. When I first became their customer, the single vision eye glasses they prescribed me worked just fine. They did not cause me headaches or eye pain. In June 2023, I received a pair of progressive lens glasses from Studioeyes after they performed all the necessary eye exams and updated my prescription on 5/30/23. Unfortunately, I could not do my work on the computer with the progressives since I had to constantly push the glasses all the way up in order to look through the bottom of the lenses to see the computer screen. I was getting headaches and nausea from doing this. I contacted Studioeyes multiple times over the next a couple months regarding the issues I was having. They initially remade the lenses for the progressives. However, that did not resolve the issue. In September 2023, I called and emailed them again stating I was still having the same issues. This time, their solution/recommendation was for me to pay and acquire a dedicated pair of single vision computer glasses. On 9/9/2023, I took their advice and paid for another pair of glasses based on their prescription. What followed was even worse! Ever since I started wearing the dedicated computer glasses Studioeyes made me, I started having an increasingly frequent amount of headaches, neck pain, and escalating levels of eye strain/fatigue. Sadly, for 11 months, I didn't connect the dots and I was at a loss as to what was causing my suffering. I tried different things like resting my eyes every 20 seconds, looking in the distance, dry eye drops, warm compress, using a humidifier, etc. Yet none of it made any difference. In Feb this year, I went back to Studioeyes for another eye exam. Again, they reassured me both my progressive glasses and my computer glasses' prescriptions were correct. Towards July and August this year, I was getting a very bad headache EVERY SINGLE DAY after wearing the computer glasses for between 30min to 4 hours. I was worried I couldn't work anymore as my work is entirely on the computer. At that point, I had had ENOUGH!! As a first step to pinpoint the problem, I went to my PCP, who suggested I saw an ophthalmologist as well as a different optometrist for a second opinion on my eye glass prescriptions. On 8/2/24, I went to a highly rated optometrist in Burbank that I found on yelp. He thoroughly examined my eyes and issued me an updated prescription. Even though I was still skeptical about what difference a new pair of computer glasses could possibly make, I went ahead and purchased a new pair based on his prescription. Boy am I glad I did! I have been wearing the new computer glasses daily for 6-10 hours a day since 8/13/24 and have NOT had any headaches, neck pain, or severe eye strain/fatigue symptoms. The RELIEF is beyond what words can describe. To give credit where it's due, Studioeyes' staff provided friendly service. However, every time I think about how much I suffered and how confused I was about the state of my eyes, I remember why, as far as I am concerned, they do not deserve any stars at all. read more

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY HERE.. I've been going here for about 10 years now and it just gets progressively worse with each visit. Today I called about a scratched lens I want to have replaced. The first person who answered my call was able to find me in the system right away but then transferred me to another gentleman who couldn't find my file because I apparently have two different accounts due to the spelling of my last name. I wasn't even frustrated at first, but he kept repeating "I realize you're frustrated ..." He tried to tell me I didn't use my insurance the last time I bought glasses there, which is absurd. He then said they couldn't just replace one lens because it was "corporate policy" and suggested I go to a "mom & pop shop." I calmly asked him how much it would be in any event and when he told me the price I said it's a shame they just can't replace the one lens. To which he then replied again, "I realize you're frustrated but . . . " After a few more exchanges I told him I'd just go to the optometrist in my building. He said, "I think that would be best for both parties." WTH?? I know who this guy is btw. He's a little fellow who follows you around the store pressuring you to buy whenever you go in. This is just the latest of several bad experiences I've had over the past 5 years. From glasses that made my eyes even more blurry and caused headaches, to multiple different prescriptions trying to get it right. And of course, the constant upselling. I never walk out of there without paying WAY MORE than I expect even with insurance. Usually, $500 or more and I don't even get very expensive frames. If you're still reading you'll see I'm not alone by the multiple 1 star reviews they've received. I wouldn't have bothered to even leave a review but the dismissive, sarcastic and snippy attitude of the little man on the phone pushed me over the edge. read more

Staff here is wonderful. I came in for a routine eye exam, and they were so welcoming. A disclaimer I am a medical field professional myself and I know Dr. Yaz personally. With that said I still would like to express how knowledgable, caring and communicative she is when it comes to her job in a time where most medical professionals just want to move from one patient to the next patient. I might be a bit bias; however, it is evident from her interactions with me and others when I was waiting in waiting room that she is one of the best in her field. We purchased my daughter's glasses here and we've had a great experience. They have a good selection of frames overall and a good selection for children. I was surprised how difficult it is to find kid's frames (my daughter is under three years old), but StudioEyes was one of the few places I could find that had kids frames at all, much less a good selection of them. We had a great time coming in and having my daughter look at, try out, and select the frames she wanted. The representative did a great job working with my daughter and keying in off of what she liked and what she was interested in. The frames and lenses were reasonably priced (partly due to insurance I'm sure). And we have absolutely loved them. We have come in on two separate occasions since we got the glasses. One of them was to get them adjusted (kids grow), and that process went extremely well and smoothly. We came in, didn't wait long to be seen, and then got the adjustments done that we needed. The second time was to get the lenses repaired. The lenses were pretty scratched up and the lenses include a one year warranty. We ordered the new lenses over the phone, got a call when they were delivered, came in, and they installed the lenses while we waited (it took about 10 minutes maybe). Overall, we couldn't be happier with the experience that we've had. My daughter loves going to the the "glasses doctor" and every time thinks that she gets to pick out new glasses. tl;dr: Expect zero human touch or loyalty from these folks. I was a patient for well over a decade but will never go back. The story (not particularly scintillating, but hopefully informative): I just switched insurance. My new insurance is paid up and effective as of yesterday, but I'm not showing up in their system yet. I had an appointment with StudioEyes today for an eye exam, a contact lens fitting and a contact lens purchase. Probably $5-600 all in, which my insurance covers. But StudioEyes says I need to pay all of it, out of pocket, TODAY, and there will be no way to be reimbursed, or otherwise allow my insurance to retroactively cover this. Again, I am covered by this insurance, I've paid for it on time and in full--I'm just not in the system...until TOMORROW. Doesn't a business owner who cares about a longtime loyal customer find a way to avoid a completely unnecessary and unwarranted $5-600 charge? This would have been resolved literally a day later. (I can't do another appointment for a month, and I need the lenses.) These folks really, truly do not care about you. If you don't mind being a pair of eyeballs and a credit card, I guess they're fine. If you prefer being a human being, you will definitely want to find another provider. read more

I've been going to Studio Eyes for years and usually have good experiences but today was a joke. I made an appointment in advance and gave them my insurance information which they verified. Then last week they emailed me for confirmation of my appointment for today. Then today they texted me confirmation again. So imagine my surprise when I showed up for my appointment only to be told that because it hadn't been a full year since my last appointment that I wasn't eligible for my eye exam. Now I get that they have no control over the stupid rules my insurance may have, but I gave them my insurance in advance and they confirmed it. Why not tell me then, or one of the 2 times that you confirmed my appointment that I wasn't eligible for my exam?!? Did they not confirm my insurance in advance like they said they did? When I mentioned that I wish they can told me I wasn't eligible for my exam until after I went in for the appointment, rather than apologize they gave me a dirty look! Like I said, I have gone here for years and in the past always had good experiences, but today I did not see one person who I have seen there in the past so maybe they had a big turnover in staff and the new staff is just horrible. Either way, when I am eligible for my exam I will be finding a new eye doctor. read more

I've only been to the optometrist maybe 6 times in my entire life but my visit to studioeyes was the most pleasant and thorough. The doctor was patient and explained everything procedure in detail. They also had an iris dialator machine that doesn't dl our your eyes like traditional eye drops which insurance doesn't cover but they were very upfront about the additional $39 cost which I appreciated. The optician was very kind as well - first time I'd dealt with an optician really outside of talking to employees at Warby Parker. She showed me frames that were covered by my insurance and didn't try to upsell me on expensive frames and even had a frame in mind for me which is the one I ended up going with. While the office was beautiful and clean and the staff was courteous, but that''s where it ended. I felt deceived when I set up the appointment when they did not disclose the special $49 treatment. It was either $49 or come back so they could do the dilation of the pupils. Who wants to come back twice? I was so upset and flabbergasted that I had been blindsided by this that I just bit the bullet and did it. And then there were the charges. Good Lord. They must only cater to the rich and famous because an average person like me could never get the add-on they suggested. Oh, and I almost forgot. They send out SMS message to either confirm or reschedule the appointment and guess what... they never respond! I wanted to reschedule, but since I NEVER HEARD BACK FROM THEM, This office needs to work on its honest business practices and their follow-through. PISSED is an understatement. I paid full price for glasses here, and made an appointment for contacts and paid out of pocket. I didn't ended up ordering contacts right away through them. I waited a few months and was trying to order contacts though 1800-contacts with my prescription. Turns out I'm ONLY prescribed to a Daily - AKA more expensive contacts instead of Monthly. And a more expensive brand!!! I've NEVER bought contacts in my life before this so It's not like I specifically knew if I needed monthly or daily.. but came to find out these daily ones were more expensive. 1800-contacts said I should contact my eye doctor to have the brand changed and I called and basically they said I would have to pay for another appointment...?????? What was the reason I paid for the first appointment? So my money was wasted?? Great. read more

I won't be returning that's for sure. Front desk staff was nice, office was clean but my interaction with Dr. Dubick was less than pleasant. I came in with both eyes having multiple styes over the last three weeks, watery and sensitive dry eyes tacked onto my already sensitive eyes year round. Dr Dubick stood in the doorway of the exam room (I get it, social distance but I was just at urgent care Friday and the doctor at least sat down to talk to me and look at my eye) basically said "I'll give you antibiotics and you can schedule a regular exam once you're done with those." I asked if he could recommend anything I could use or do to help prevent this as I'm already diligent about washing my face, I don't wear makeup, I spend all day outside working with horses so I'm very aware of keeping my face and eyes clean and clear and also asked if he had any idea why this was happening as much as it is. His answer? "You may have a medical condition you need to address but that's out of my scope of practice." UM AREN'T YOU AN EYE DOCTOR? I'm asking you about MY EYES. I'll take the antibiotics as instructed but definitely won't be coming back to this establishment. WOAH, that never happened to me in Los Angeles, honestly It was a pain, but not their fault, my insurance uses a terrible lab, but these people went a step up to help me out. Great integrity. This is my second year with Studioeyes, he first year I was dissatisfied with how things went. Two weeks ago I was there again, the same people there, same doctor. The Doctor is the doctor, he's not there to make friends like some of these review people think. He is matter of fact-- but a good doctor! I rarely take to yelp and probably should more often for more positive reasons- but I felt the need to share my experience! I will not be coming back here. I gave 2 stars because the staff was fine, the place was clean. I left in a rush however (without trying on the free glasses I'd get with my plan) because I was afraid I would start to cry- the doctor was so rude and condescending and made me so uncomfortable. He was actually making fun of me for getting a glasses prescription because my prescription was so light. I wish it was in jest. It was one comment after another like "I wouldn't prescribe this low of a prescription to anyone, unless it was maybe a race car driver and then still maybe not." Or "don't be surprised if someone tries your glasses on and is confused." It just kept going. ??? Who cares? I like to see as clearly as possible when I'm driving and watching tv. I've been prescribed multiple times before by eye doctors who didn't say anything or pass any judgement. But, I lost my favorite glasses and my prescription is expired. Normally I wouldn't get so worked up by someone like this but really didn't expect it from... a new eye doctor! If you go here surely don't expect any bedside manor. read more

I came here for a new glasses/contact prescription and prior to the appointment my experience was mostly favorable. Dr Dubick was brusque and did not give me the prescription I normally have because I have been wearing a stronger prescription than I need for probably a decade. He met me in the middle though and this is the first eye doctor I've been to that was able to get me closer to my actual prescription needs. The selection of glasses was a bit limited, or maybe trying them on was awkward because of covid but I found frames I really liked and ordered special lenses. The real problems began after I picked them up. I had the glasses for two days then decided I wanted a slight tint on the Lens in addition to the transitions tint I got. I also wanted anti glare coating on my other frames. I called to ask if this was possible and they told me it was. I went back with my glasses to drop them off, paying for the tints and postage as I was leaving town and would need to have them mailed. After this their communication was terrible. I called a twice over the next month to inquire about the glasses and asked them to let me know when they shipped. I called again and they told me they had shipped. I asked them for the tracking number. When the glasses finally arrived there were no glasses-it was a box with only lenses in it. When they sent the box there was no tape on it. It's obvious it was never taped because there is no tape, nor is the box ripped as it would be if there was ever tape on it. I told them this and their response was that they definitely taped the box even though they clearly didn't. So they said they would replace the glasses. This took another 6 weeks because they could not get the frames I initially ordered. Every time I called to ask where they were in this process I felt like I was annoying them. Eventually they called me and said they would overnight one of the frames I ordered. This was not the case and the package came a week later. I had to call to get the tracking number of that package as well-it was not immediately provided. I asked them to please call me when they finally received the second frames. Only when they had the new frames did they finally tell me that it isn't actually possible to tint a lens with a transitions tint on the lenses as well. WHAT?! This was the whole point of me bringing the glasses in the first place! This is also my first time hearing this so then what did they send me in the first package with the glasses that fell out of the untaped box? I'm really confused. So they sent me two sets of lenses-one with a tint and one with the transitions. They told me the package would get overnighted but when it arrived it said 3 day shipping. And I again had to request the tracking number. Communication at this place needs work. I called to speak to a manager about it and no one called me back so I guess they don't care. They could have saved us both a lot of trouble if they had told me in the first place what I know now-you can't put an extra tint on transitions lenses. read more

Absolutely unpleasant experience. I went to this doctor for the first time, and meanwhile male nurse was doing first exams using different machines, by the end of this exams he asked me how do I want to do the last test using eye drops or their machine, I said that I have no idea and told him to do what is best. And he did use their machine without saying anything...after I went to see the doctor and left. Front desk girl ran after me and said that I have to pay $39, I was obviously confused and said that I provided them my insurance, she said that it was for that machine that this nurse used and that he told me about this $39. Of course no one told me and who would agree on this unnecessary test for $39?! Obviously no one, that's why they are not mentioning that I'll have to pay for it out of pocket. I absolutely refused to pay because it's just %100 scam and dishonest behavior. Well, it for sure is simple way for them to make some cash for office stuff and that's ok, just tell people beforehand. So highly disappointed with this absolutely absurd and unprofessional behavior. Would not suggest this place to anyone!! It's not professional doctor office it's a circus. read more

The only downfall (which is why I didn't give them a 5 start was because the doctor seemed like he was in a rush and would of liked a little more of his undivided attention. I finally had my last straw yesterday and I'll no longer be returning to StudioEyes. After being a patient for 4 years, I have had a chronic issue for about a year and half now and Dr. Dubick has been nothing but dismissive and condescending. I finally got a second opinion after my last appointment and was told that not only should this issue be given more concern and attention, but that it was being treated wrong as well! In addition to that, Dr. Dubick was always rude to me throughout my time with them. I tried to ask questions and prompt for a long term solution, a plan to get to the root of the problem, but I was always swiftly billed and sent right on my way immediately after he looked at my eyes and gave me a prescription (a short term treatment of the symptoms but not a solution for the cause). All I received for my effort were lectures about how I was being problematic for not seeing him on the onset of an episode (which was largely for financial reasons as I made clear to him) and returning for multiple, unnecessary follows ups (all of which I was charged for). In return I was ridiculed in front of the staff for my tight budget when scheduling my next appointment and receiving my prescription. I have never felt so embarrassed, frustrated, and upset when dealing with a medical professional, nor such relief when I finally found a doctor who listened to me, explained what was happening to me, and offered me proactive steps going forward. DO NOT GO TO THIS DOCTOR. I do want to acknowledge that the support staff has always been kind and friendly and this is not a reflection on them, but at the end of the day, I need a doctor that will look out for my health. read more

They are always willing to answer my questions and concerns. When I expressed that I was nervous about wearing contacts, I was reassured by Dr. Dubick who was very patient when instructing me with how to properly wear contacts. Tried to make an appointment when my girlfriend couldn't see out of her left eye. We were very concerned and placed a call to the office first thing in the morning. We were told Dr. Dubick would call us back and he did. It's when he found out that we were new patients that his demeanor changed and he turned into a dick. Melissa, the receptionist and assistant is the best part of this practice. I'm so unhappy. Dr. Ellen Shuham was extremely rude and the staff called my one year old "terrible" while he was sitting on my lap quietly drinking water(huh), and when I mentioned it, she giggled and said it was a joke. Note: this business is not kid friendly so if you happen to have kid(s) find another practice you'll be happy you did. First the aesthetics - there are no windows, very dark and non welcoming. Second: we were running behind I called to reschedule, the staff suggested coming in, but when I did the doctor stressed she didn't have time to be thorough. She said, "we don't have time." This review is regarding Dr. Dubick and Barbara the office manager. Dr. Dubick is the most condescending and rude "doctor" I've ever encountered. He has no regard for bedside manner nor does he make any efforts to make patients feel welcome or comfortable. When I went in for an annual eye exam, he tried calibrating my prescription on the lens machine. When I told him it wasn't clear and that the border of what I was supposed to read was fuzzy, he just nodded and said that it was my glasses prescription. He completely ignored any of my concerns and proceeded to talk about billing. When I told him one of my eyes was drier than the other, he told me I had a form of conjunctivitis that he hadn't seen anyone have for years. He prescribed me eyedrops which he emphasized multiple times "it's generic and cheap." I proceed to go to CVS and the eyedrops are $100. When I go back for my "follow up" with Dr. Shuham, which is really just to finish my eye exam that they didn't complete the first time, she tells me it's not conjunctivitis, it's a cyst and I need to see an opthamologist. Complete lack of care, misdiagnosing, carelessly prescribing drugs is just the tip of the iceberg. When I ask for them to reverse the claim to VSP given that I didn't have a proper eye exam, nor did I receive any prescriptions, I get a call back from Barbara who berates me and is even ruder than Dubick on the phone. I tried to reason with them and explain the situation and in response, she literally told me to go ahead and call VSP because all that's going to happen is VSP will call them and they'll tell VSP the same thing so nothing will change. For anyone else considering this place, stay as far away as possible. Rip off artists who will take your money and give you an attitude for it. Also for what it's worth, they price their lenses and contacts 50-65% higher than competitors. Truly amazing that they are still around. read more

I've been seeing Dr. Dubick for about 4 years now and recommend him to all of my friends. He's straightforward, quick, and friendly and I always leave feeling confident that my eyes are taken care of. The office staff is always really helpful when I pick out new frames. If you read my earlier reviews, you'll know that I'm a little wiggy about people messin' with my person. The only truly *positive* eye exam experience I've ever had was in Oakland at Ursula Montgomery's office. So I'm probably harder on any person who comes in with the intention of poking, blowing in, or otherwise disturbing the sanctity of my ocular area. That said... I'm definitely a fan of their assistants. If they ran the show, this would be a 5 star review for sure. Gigi found me glasses that looked pretty awesome and comparable to the totally rockstar glasses that I brought in (though was unable to fit with prescription lenses -- wah). The doctor, though, was a little weird. He went on about his pride in customer service and how it only took 15 minutes to get a customer and how he went to get his MBA to learn this, but then went on to kind of be kind of rude. I asked a well-meaning question (do I really need to wear sunglasses?) and he dismissed it as "just ridiculous." He then went on to laugh about the whole premise of the question as I struggled to explain why I wasn't sure about the value of sunglasses. Honestly, I left feeling like not wearing sunglasses if only to defy his dismissive, patronizing attitude. I'm not one of those "the customer is always right" people when medical issues are concerned, but there are kind ways and there are rude ways to handle a bumbling, unscientific patient. On the plus side, he said my prescription was probably fine to stick with, which eliminated the need for that sucky re-adjustment period when I'm always falling down stairs and stuff. All in all, I left making a mental note to come back as infrequently as possible, despite the cool assistants. Ah well, it's not like I'd be there all the time anyways, considering how much I dislike eye work. On the other hand, like I said, I definitely do not like people in my eyes, so I'm sure I was predisposed to be anxious around this. UPDATE: this time the eye doctor asked if my eye "were always buggy like that." Really? You want to give me a complex about buggy eyes? Not only that, if they're buggy now, they were buggy a year prior when I saw him before. So YES, they're fucking ALWAYS buggy like this. read more
