If I could rate this place negative stars I would. The staff are rude, specifically the older ones. The place is a walking health code violation. I saw them use used tools. Going from one person to the next. The nail jobs are sloppy. I had the polish come right off my acrylics, when I came back the next day to show them they laughed in my face and tried to blame it on me. I went to them for months because it was simply convenient. But I would rather go out of my way to go anywhere else from this place. My new tech was in awe of how bad of a job they had done. Do not waste your time or money!!! read more

In LOVE with these nails! The service was quick and efficient, and got exactly what I asked for and more! My nail tech Vivian was so kind and friendly, would 100% recommend seeing her! Thank you!! read more

Work on nails was satisfactory, however customer service left a lot to be desired. Technician was gruff and rude. Felt like it was a bother for her to work on my nails. She also left me for a long time under the lights, while she went on with another customer. I finally had to check my own pedicure and leave the premises. WILL NOT GO BACK. read more

This is my first time at the salon. New set acrylic nails for $67 45 minutes. Nails are very uneven. Shape is all over the place. See my thumbs! Nail polish is not evenly applied. Very, very thick nail polish overall. Thought is was a bad idea to go to a salon in the mall but I was there and was short on time. Will not go back again. read more

Been going here my last 4 times to get shellac mani and they are the bomb! Not sure why they rated so low, I only do see one person when I go there though. Please go see David, he is THE MAN. Only person I'll let touch my nails from now on, he's very articulate and always does a once over to make sure my nails are good. I wouldn't say this is a place to go and relax depending if you go on a quiet evening night. It is in Kingsway mall so there is quite a bit of traffic, the clientele is a mix of every age and gender, which is great. But like I said, not somewhere to go to relax. Good place if you need in and out quickly. The place generally seems clean, I've never had any issue with my nails afterwards. They follow mall hours (Mon-Fri until 9pm, Sat until 6pm, Sun until 5pm). For removal of old shellac and new added it was $42.00. Love this place! read more

If I could put 0 stars I would overpriced to the nines and have never felt so rushed .... Even just to pick a nail color I felt the need to hurry up even this we were only about 5 min into my pedicure but surprise to me my pedicure was almost over .... LEFT WITH WAX RESIDUE ALL OVER FROM EYEBROW WAXING ... I use to really like this place but will never return EVER AGAIN read more

I am not that hard of a person to please and rarely ever give my toes the pampering they deserve, so I will admit my feet needed a lot of work. The lady helping me clipped my cuticles and was so rough with this task that she had me wincing. however that was not the reason for this review. I was still happy with her service when I left the salon. it was a couple days later when one of my heels ended up getting the worst possible crack I've ever seen. It was excruciatingly painful and extremely hard to heal. It's been almost a month and it's still not gone. really harsh! How do I put a -5 star because I don't even think this place deserves even one ? read more

the woman who did my nails said a fill is $55. I showed her a pic of what I wanted which included 4 "gems" she said that will be $85. after asking her to explain why ... didn't really get a direct answer. During the time she was doing my nails I asked her to take a pic so she could have it handy , which she did. Then she continuously asked me to pull up pic. I was getting irritated. She made it seem like I was bothersome which I didn't appreciate. I would not recommend this establishment. I don't know or care if $85 is the normal rate but seems a bit outrageous . Regardless . This was my experience. The nail tech had glasses. Would not recommend or repeat . read more

You win some, you lose some at this Studio Nails. I guess I win more than I lose because I do keep going back. Is this called gambling? For the most part I have had gorgeous mani pedi's done here - I get the full salon pedi with the 3 treatments - a scrub, a cooling mask and then a moisturizer. The massage is thorough and they are always concerned that I am retaining water in my ankles and so they really work me over to get the circulation going. The shellac nails are amazing. I get so many compliments on my nails after I get them done there. It is a bit harder than average nail polish so I don't have to worry about breaking nails while I am doing the aggressive crafting that I do :) There is a lot of chitter chatter in a language I don't speak, so I always wonder how much is about the customers. The one thing I don't like is they use the dremel to take off my shellac and it should be done with acetone. I don't really enjoy getting my lovely nails shaved off. My Mani/Pedi took almost an hour and a half last night but that was due to a pretty thorough massage on my legs, ankles, feet, hands and arms. Cost for full spa pedi, nail polish and design on toes, wax eyebrows and shellac mani came to $110. There is rarely a wait and if you want the full service without them being distracted - I say go on Monday to Wednesday. Kingsway Mall is usually a ghost town during those days anyways. read more

I went to get a acrylic fill she replaced three of my nails totally different shapes than my previous set mine were straight these were curved I got one nail done half two colours and two nails with a couple gems when I asked the price she said I don't know Ill have to check she charged me 90$ for the worst nails I've ever had and for a fill?! Terrible! My boyfriend was kind enough to take me to get a mani/pedi, it was a great day until i looked into the water and it was full of skin and other floaties. My boyfriend even noticed and sent me a text saying "the water is dirty". The ladies there were super rude when they found out we didn't want any of the add ons, going quickly, cutting my toes, barely getting off dead skin. Anyways i asked for french on my toes and the result was horrible basically an uneven white line, i still have white in the creases of my toes, no cuticle removal and very rough. I was so disappointed with my pedicure that i couldn't contain it in my face, i basically wanted to cry, i felt overwhelmed and disgusted, looking at my toes, i wanted to walk to the bathroom to gather myself. My boyfriend even noticed and asked if i was ok, i put on a fake smile and said i was ok FOR HIM, (if i was by myself i would tell her to redo it , it was horrid u guys)! Now time for the manicure i asked for an ombre french and she told me she didn't know how to do it like the picture i had shown her cause the picture had a filter (i've gotten this done many times, know the technique, love the results from the guy i normally go to who btw only charges $50.00). It looked cheap you guys very unattractive dark pinky color spray painted with white. Did i mention my nails are sore and cut ??? Yeah she cut me twice and blamed it on the fact that i was moving. Thats not even the worst part, when she was finished my with nails and asked me if i liked the result i said yes with a smile because i didn't want to disappoint my boyfriend (wanting to pamper and make me smile), plus whats the point other than to cause a scene. She then exclaimed "before your girlfriend was very sad", "she was like a big baby", i turned bright red, (i wanted to punch her, but instead laughed). My bf didn't even regard her because he thought it was very rude of her to say. Oh and last but not least this was the most expensive mani/pedi i have ever gotten. A whopping $165.00 for mine and my bfs pedi and then my gel french nails. RIP OFF! I wish i would have said something, looked at the board and broke it down, but i didn't want to be "that girl", so i shrugged it off! I really tried to not let them ruin the day! Worst mani/pedi! BTW I am so scared i got an infection from the cut in my pinky finger as it is inflamed and red still and they don't wash their tools, as you can see from the other reviews. DO NOT GO HERE!!!! read more

HORRIBLE HORRIBLE PLACE. I STRONGLY recommend that you DON'T go here. I was VERY disappointed. I was rushed into a seat and the station was dirty. Everything was covered with a layer of dust from filing gel and acrylic nails. I was rushed to pick which tips I wanted for acrylic nails and the first 2 tips I chose weren't in stock. I got my nails done by the male (David). He didn't say anything to me the whole time, but sure had a lot to say to the other employees in Chinese (which I found really annoying and unprofessional) He rushed to do my nails and when they were done they were different lengths and jagged at the tips. I had to go home and file them myself to even them out. Tell me WHY I should have to go home and do something I PAID to get done there!? The part that made this experience the worst was that when I went to pay they charged me for gel nails instead of acrylics (which is over $10 more than what acrylics are at that place!). They charged me $68 !!!!!! I thought this was normal but then I spoke to my sister who has had them done there before and she said when she got acrylics done they were $55. They KNOW they are ripping you off and they could give less than 2 sh*ts that they are doing it. In my opinion this place should be closed down for stealing money and for the poor services they provide. I know I'm not crazy. Every review on here says it's an awful place. And it's TRUE. 10000000 thumbs down. read more

Horrible!!!! I went here for years and each time I got a fill they ripped off my nails and did a new set, because of this I lost a whole NAIL!!! When I complained none of them spoke proper English and could understand what I was saying. They also charge you for gel nails claiming they use gel powder however after tons of research and talking with knowledgably people I learned gel is a gel and not any other form! Overcharged, crappy art, don't speak English and lost a WHOLE nail. read more

Oh boy do I wish that I had read the reviews ahead of time and taken them to heart. My friend and I decided to grab a pedicure after work today, and even though we usually go to a place on Whyte, we decided to give the place in Kingsway a go, as it was closer and more convenient. BIG MISTAKE. Neither of us is a rookie when it comes to pedicures, and we're not particularly picky either. We know we're not in for a spa experience, but we expect what most people expect, and what you SHOULD expect from a service that you're paying for: cleanliness and some actual time/ effort put in. The "spa pedicure" at Studio Nails was basically the equivalent of ordering fast food and then getting food poisoning : it's quick, but you spend a lot of time regretting it after. Unfortunately this mistake came with the outrageous price tag of $50 (we usually pay $30 and the pedi is 1000x better) . Now let me tell you what we received for our grand total. -A 20 minute pedicure that involved: - Nail tools shoved under my toes painfully - next to no attention on cuticles - a half-hearted scrub of my callouses (they do not shave them here) - a bunch of sketchy products slathered on my legs and then washed off - a paint job that I could have done at home - gross, used sandals to put on after The ladies also started up selling us on other services as soon as we sat down, and did not even let us stick our feet under the dryers before they were whisking us off to the register to pay. All in all, a horrible experience. I may have been inclined to give 2 stars instead of 1, had the price not been so high, but this gets 1, because that was by far the worst $50 I have ever spent. read more

i got a pedi, no appointment was needed so that was a + , got seated immediately . i got designs down for $5, that was the average cost of designs anyways. So i didn't mind & she scraped off all the dry skin off my foot - didn't even ask if i wanted them done. whatever though, i went to pay & she ended up charging me for taking off the skin off my foot. not i minded, but i was a bit surprised when the total was $50 . Now less than a week, i feel a nail poking the side of my toe .. apparently she didn't do a good job cutting ; they were crooked, that i didnt mind as much but she didnt even cut the sides of my nails .. also the nail polish is beginning to chip & she didn't do a good job painting all my nails the sides still have my old nail color . :( the only good thing was, she told me how long till my nails were dried & offered me flip flops to go. read more

Don't go to this nail salon they charge everyone a different price and they don't sterilize their equipment. I am doing a formal complaint about these people. charging too much for their services and using files without disinfecting the area or dremels. I would not recommend this place or visit again. Didn't clean under my nails our even push cuticles back. While at Kingsway Mall, I went for a pedicure and was totally disappointed. I was asked if I wanted to upgrade to the spa treatment and I said sure. It would be nice to sit and relax and have my legs massaged. Well I sat down at 3:27 and I was walking out the door at 3:55. How fast would it have been if I didn't upgrade. Not what I would call a spa experience. Also, all the while he was doing my legs and feet, he kept looking out the door and at other customers. I only had one coat of nail polish. Overall, I left with a feeling of being robbed. I felt, I definitely didn't get my money's worth. I also question the cleanliness of their foot soakers. The other places that I have gone have used plastic liners, which they remove after using the bath. Will not return! read more

The salon was not clean. They told me to sit in the furthest station and there were nail clippings on the seat! I told the nail tech that and he said to move to a different one. Nothing to suggest that station was any cleaner. They did an okay job on the pedicure but the customer service is terrible. The guy who did my pedicure kept pushing me to get gel nails even though I said no continuously. Then had the nerve to ask if I wanted my nails done even though it's clear they are freshly done. When he asked me to go over to the dryer to dry the polish he asked me if I could pay first. I can't believe he expect me to pay before my service was done. So rude. So I am standing there holding my belongings and had my jeans rolled up trying to juggle my stuff and pay, and I asked him if they normally ask people to pay before their visit is over. He said yeah and tried to make it sound like it is easier on me so I can get up and leave when they are dry. Nothing eAsier about trying to juggle my belongings while paying. At least when you pay at the end you have your jacket, purse and shoes on. At a closer look at home the nail Polish is painted on crooked and doesn't even go all the way to the edge of each toe. read more

Me and a friend recently got gel nails here for a rediculous price first of all some nails were put on crooked and mis-shapen my nails are peeling just after a few days and both of our nail sets look as if we bought a box of fake nails from the drugstore and glued them on ourselves but I'm giving them to much credit drugstore nails probably would have looked better than these things on our fingers that seriously took max half hour to do . And to top it all off they were rude as if it was my privilege to have them do my nails ....worst experience ever , worst nails ever , worst service ever and that's being kind I DO NOT recommend. Also she cut me with the nail file! :( read more

Yuck! Yuck! Yuck! My cousin and I decided we wanted to go for a pedicure. Since we were in the mall we saw studio nails and decided to try it out. We were rushed into our seats very quickly. Once we were already soaking, we noticed how un tidy the salon was. We thought maybe it had been a busy day and things had gotten away from them. The ladies that did our pedicures were friendly at first, but once we declined all the things they tried to push on us, they became quite rude. we paid for the "spa" pedicure, yet received no massage and one of my cousins toe nails was left unpainted. Once we were finished our oh so great pedicure and were sitting under the lights to dry, we noticed that the ladies RINSED THE TOOLS THEY USED ON OUR FEET OFF WITH WATER AND USED THEM ON THE NEXT CLIENTS!!! We have already tried to call a health inspector, but since it was a Saturday we couldn't reach anyone. We will be trying again on Monday. AVOID AVOID AVOID!! read more

My friend and I decided to get our nails done yesterday (Thursday February 16 2017) and they were horrible. I've been getting acrylic nails for years and I know how its suppose to be done. When I called they were polite and when I showed up for my appointment they were nice, the young lady doing my nails was nice but she kept using the electronic file on my natural nail and kept burning me. Also they put my nail on crooked; the lady asked if i wanted to keep the shape and length I told her I wanted to keep the shape but I wanted them shorter and she rounded them and kept the length. When I went to pay they kept changing the price my friend who had acrylic nails before just wanted them removed and she got just a french manicure and was charged 50 dollars, never ever have I ever seen a simple polish manicure for 50 dollars. When I spoke to them on the phone they said an acrylic fill will cost $40 some how they ended up charging me $50. They had a price board (which was kind of hidden from the cash) these guys ripped my friend and I off and they gave crappy service. Do not go to them. read more

First and last time I will be visiting a nail salon while traveling to YEG! Ladies, if you enjoy being treated as nothing more than dollar signs then by all means visit Studio Nails. I promise you, you will leave disappointed and disgusted. The woman who runs the joint seemed inviting and friendly, which is expected in any business I guess. However, my nail technician was very cold from the moment I greeted her. As if she'd been forced into the job. I explained what I wanted and she nodded (infills and shellac) she started. Perhaps my Aussie accent was a barrier between us or perhaps she hated her job so much she needed to take it out on me. Awful experience. Finger tips swelled up, red and sore. Nails look like an amateurs job. She was rude by her actions not her words. Throwing my hand away when she was done and grabbing the other hand with full force. I kept my cool and when she was done I spoke to the boss/owner and before I even finished my sentence she had already written names of two nail technicians she recommended I see the next time. I couldn't believe it. There will definitely not be a next time. I tried to explain further but she didn't want to listen she just kept saying, "Oh okay, okay, have good day! Have good day!" So I left it. There was no point. Poor training, poor hygiene, poor customer service throughout. Just really awful. My poor fingers :( read more

Worst Nail salon ever I was so disappointed, I went to get my nails done there and the lady that did them did them so horribly they were crooked uneven they just looked utterly disgusting, she was super fast and rude, before I started the service she quoted me a price and when i went up to pay, it was more. As I was paying I told her I did not like them she was arguing with me saying that there fine and that nothing is wrong with them i showed all my friends and they told me to go back they looked so bad, I went back and a male fixed them for me they weren't the best but he was still so rude he screamed at me saying "what do you want." I will never go back there and I don't recommend anyone going there either. Worst service ever. read more

I went for a pedicure before a trip to Florida and decided to have a manicure too. The technician suggested Shellac which I had no knowledge of but she explained that it would last longer without chipping. I agreed to the Shellac. The mani and pedi were both beautiful when finished and lasted the two weeks. Two weeks later I wanted to remove the polish. I ended up having to do some online research to figure out how. I had told the technician that I was from out of town and we did not have Shellac services where I live and that I had not heard of it before. After hearing this, she should have explained to me how to remove the shellac. Big oversight in my opinion. Also, as a read tons of stuff about Shellac, I realized that the technician is not certified in shellac application. When preparing my nails for painting (they did not have any nail polish on them), she used a dremel on my nails. At the time I figured it was part of the process. Buffing of any kind is NOT part of a shellac mani or pedi. I also see in another review that the dremel was used to remove the old shellac. Also, NOT proper procedure. When I removed my shellac properly (with acetone and nail wraps), the damage to my nails from the dremel was very obvious. One of the great things about a proper shellac manicure is that there is no damage to your natural nails. Because I loved the durability of shellac, I bought my own lamp and polishes. I have had great success doing my own shellac mani. The new growth part of my nails in strong and healthy. I am still growing out the part of my nails that was damage by the dremel. If you do get a shellac mani here, I strongly recommend that you insist that they do not buff or use a dremel on our nails at any time during the mani, If these ladies would spend some time watching training videos directly from CND available on YouTube, they could learn the proper application/removal very easily. read more

I went to get a pedicure at Kingsway because my daughter was getting a facial at the Dior counter in The Bay. There was no wait, the place was not that busy for a Friday evening, but it sure seemed like the girl giving me a pedicure was in an awful hurry. She put my feet in cold water with hot water running and as soon as I put my feet in she asked me to put one up in front of her to work on. No soaking? Really? And she told me the water will get hot in a minute. The ledge you put your feet on for her to do her work is hard plastic and she had a small towel folded in half which did not take anything away from the hardness so it was uncomfortable to rest your heel on and when she went to scrape my heels she asked me to hold my leg in the air myself. All the while the workers are talking to each other in their language as I sit there. Not sure if it is Chinese but it most certainly is an Asian country's language. Don't they know that it is rude to speak in a foreign language in front of your customers? Especially when you know your customer will not understand? I for one found that very rude. Then they look at your feet and then at you. Just what are you saying? So, all in all it took her 30 minutes to do the pedicure and put the nail polish on. Fastest, most uncomfortable and rudest pedicure I have ever had. I spent more time sitting there letting my nail polish dry than I did have my feet pampered that's for sure. When you decide to splurge for a pedicure treatment for yourself, DO NOT GO HERE!!!! You will regret it.... read more
