Stopped here for a quick polish change because I was in City Centre Mall and thought it would be convenient. I should have read the reviews first. Unfortunately I have little positive to say about the experience other than there is no wait to get in. But perhaps that's a bad sign.... I wanted a polish change but ended up with a pedicure. I admit that's my fault...I could have insisted not. The technician didn't shake out the hot towel before applying it so it was placed on my legs straight out of the oven, thank goodness it wasn't a lasting burn. The technician cut me with the cuticle cutters. She didn't address the cut until another technician came over with antispectic and cotton several minutes later. Just don't go in this salon. I was on my lunch break and wanted my acrylic nails removed. The technician cut them first with a ginormous clipper, then sanded with an electric drill , it felt like. She didn't offer any clear nail polish to make them look like a manicure. Then charged me $21.00 I could have chewed them off for free. Never had I experienced such poor quality work, I will never ever return. Worst salon, shouldn't even be a salon, more of a unsanitary dump. Made me think of that stand up comedian, Angjelah Johnson, look for her on you tube, she will make you die of laughter, just saying. read more

I would NEVER go back. Not only was the service OVER PRICED it is a NAIL FUNGUS waiting to happen. The tools DID NOT go in the autoclave for cleaning after use instead they were spayed with a bottle labeled hydrogen peroxide,but who knows what was really in it? then rinsed them in the sink. The lady answered her cellphone while doing my feet which was gross, she went back to work on my feet with out cleaning her hands. She REUSED toe separators, and didn't fully (for lack of a better term) de-callous my feet. Also it wan't a full manicure she just clipped my cuticles and threw on some polish, which peeled off in sheets, before its time! There are as many nail salons in this city as liqueur stores. Nothing about this place was at all relaxing or even calm to be in. I got my junior high "graduation" gel nails done here and I couldn't have been more disappointed with the outcome. Once I arrived I was not welcomed nor shown where to sit to begin the process, so I ended up sitting wherever I felt was "probably" the correct place. The lady who was doing my nails hardly acknowledged me and my mother and she was talking almost the entire time to her co-worker beside her. This is the only salon I will go to to get gel nails done. First of all -- it is inexpensive ($40) and second of all -- they have never messed up my nails. I always get airbrushed white tips (just like the last reviewer) and sometimes they chip on me too. I just touch it up with a little white nail polish and it is good as new. I also like that you don't need to make an appointment here. They always have room for you to drop in. They also have a TV here that you can watch while you get your nails done and they usually have it on something half interesting. read more

I just needed a upper lip wax. I have done this for me for years and I don't think anyone CAN NOT do it. Not only she was not fast, she made a scare next to my lip! Good for a quick emergency fix but maybe not a relaxing or luxury experience. This place is more about the convenience and lower prices than anything else. I came here for a quick fix on my peeling acrylic nails. I didn't have an appointment but they take walk-ins whenever. I asked for a French mani and the technician was quick and efficient, I was actually surprised at how fast she was going. She wasn't very chatty or warm though, even when calling me "hon" several times. My French mani cost $40 which wasn't bad, but they use cheaper stuff which is very hard to remove. I only learnt about this when I went to another nail salon to take off the stuff. The technician there practically had to take a chainsaw nail file to get this stuff off my nails, and even then she didn't get everything off. I had to walk around for weeks with this weird hot pink tinge on my nails like I had some sort of nail disease, until it eventually wore off. I think I'll just stick with DIY or spend more somewhere that will give me my money's worth with less hassle. read more

If I could also give this salon no stars I would. I went in after my final, wanted somewhere close to the university. First off, she told me my colour choice wasn't nice. Which honestly isn't big deal. Second, she cut my fingers in THREE separate places. Third, she did them way too fast and smudged my design when I pointed it out, she half assed "fixed" it. When I mentioned that she cut my finger as I was going to pay she just stared at me and then charged me SIXTY THREE dollars. I have heard good things from a friend, so i went on a Friday night .. without an appointment. The good news is, they took me right away (i was getting a pedicure and a shallac manicure) and i was there a total of 1.5 hours maybe. The bad news: 2 days after my shallac polish was on (supposed to last 2-3 weeks) my nails were breaking and chipping and overall looking awful. I also felt that the overall job done on my toes and fingers wasnt anything special, probably along the same lines of the things you would do for yourself at home (remove polish, minor shaping, minor removal of deal skin, repainting). I then went back to the store and complained that my $94 (for both with an $8 tip) was already coming off. The lady told me that 1) it wasnt guaranteed because she didnt know what i did with my hands during the day 2) wouldnt refund my money 3) the manger was away. Have you even been to school? Went in for an eyebrow waxing and came out with half an eyebrow. They were so bad that I cried while still in store, but was told that it was my fault because of how my eyebrow grew. I have had my eyebrows waxed and threaded before with no issues so regardless of how hair grows, I am sure in school you are taught to deal with hair that grows in different ways. Call me crazy. Wow. If I could give this place no stars, I would. I was in Edmonton for a week teaching, and on my last night, I thought it would be nice to treat myself to a pedicure since I had been on my feet 8 hours a day for the whole week. The price was the same as it is back home in the US - $35 for a pedicure - but holy cow was this not at ALL what I expected. I was looking for relaxing and indulgent - this was far from it. First of all, the entire thing took LESS THAN 15 minutes. I paid $35 for about 10 minutes worth of effort. That in and of itself is ridiculous. The base pedicure at the salon I go to at home is 30 minutes. It's hard to feel relaxed when you're only in the chair for 10 minutes. They didn't turn the massage on on the chair either - not surprising because generally the massage cycle defaults to 20 minutes on those chairs and the customer would be aware of how short they sat there if the massage was running. On top of that, they barely scrubbed my feet - my heels were still very rough when the pedicure was "done" and she didn't apply any lotion to my feet. Also, when the technician put lotion on my legs - the part where most nail salons give you a massage - she literally spent 5 seconds on each leg rubbing it in and then promptly wiped the rest off with a towel. She didn't put on a base coat, and I had chosen a darker color which means my nails will be stained, and she only put one coat on my nails. Her topcoat didn't cover the entirety of some of my nails, leaving the surface uneven. As soon as I finished my "pedicure", she took me to the dryer and immediately spent the next 10 minutes playing on her phone...even when my toes were dry and I was standing up at the front waiting to cash out. I was so peeved at this point, I thought about how I could easily walk out and not pay for this crappy pedicure and she was so involved in her phone she probably wouldn't have even noticed. Honestly, I walked out of this salon fuming at the fact that I just threw away $40 on a 10 minute, rushed, crappy job. I thought about telling them how unhappy I was but frankly I got the impression that no one would care. This is the first time I have ever left a review but the service was so poor I have to. I went and got my nails done with gel chrome polish. It was so thick and un-even. I went back a few hours later to get it corrected but they were too busy to do it. Within 48 hours 3 nails had completely chipped off. When I came back to fix it, the manicurist rushed me in and out as fast as she could, doing another really poor job. It is a week later and the exact same thing has happened. No. Just...no. If I could give it less than one star I would. I went in for a quick manicure today. Let's be honest for $20 I don't expect a luxury, amazing, spa quality manicure but what I got today was not even worth $5. I went mid-day and there was NO ONE else in there so it's not like they were rushed. The whole process including nails drying and me paying was about 15 -20 minutes. I wanted my nails shaped, cuticles pushed back and polish applied...that's it. The woman I had kept trying to push me into getting Shellac and also getting a pedicure which I said repeatedly I didn't want. She applied no base coat, no top coat and my nails are all uneven. Just a total garbage job. The place was also not very clean and I don't think they sanitize their tools. I am shocked the health board hasn't shut these guys down. The worst part of the whole thing is that the women who worked there were openly making fun of a young girl who came in for a manicure just as my nails were drying. Making faces behind her back and obviously taking about her in a language that was not English. A crappy manicure is one thing, but being hurtful, awful human beings is quite another. I got a pedicure, no appointment was needed. i just did a walk in with my friend & immediately got seated. the pedicures are regular price $35? i believe & designs were $5 . They were fast but accurate at painting the nails & cutting them. The downside was, they kept on talking in their language - when they asked if i wanted a mani i would say no and they would say something in their language. I went to Studio Nails because I had heard they do eyebrow and lip waxing and the place I usually go do didn't have anyone working who was able to take me. I am having trouble writing this because the women who did my eyebrows did a really good job but the cleanliness of the room was absolutely disgusting. Which makes me wonder how they clean the rest of their nail materials and business. I entered the studio and asked if anyone could take me immediately. The woman who was talking on her cell phone outside the studio was summoned in and she took me right away. She did not wash her hands before we entered a little room in the back. She asked me to lay down on the bed with white sheets and visible old stains on it. The bed was covered in a roll of paper that is in doctor's offices so I thought it would be ok. I told the lady I break out really easily so could she really clean my face before she did my eyebrows. Language must have been a barrier as she started to apply the wax right away. I didn't realize this because I had closed my eye thinking she would do what I asked. I periodically opened my eyes to discover she was double dipping the wax with the same popsicle stick. - bacterial and germs! She did a very good job on my eyebrows there was little pain; however, I was VERY red after the procedure. She only put oil on my face to remove the excess wax but nothing to sooth my skin. My upper lip on the other hand was ripped in the procedure, which took a week to heal... and my skin I assume is still in the wax as they double dip. When I got up I realized how discussing the room was. The walls were filthy with finger prints and visible mud smears, there were a pile of sandals shoved in the corner. The wax machine was covered in dry wax and so was the wall behind it. I would highly recommend you ensure they have cleaned up their business before having anything done there. I am sure diseases could be spread easily if they are not cleaning their metal nail picks and the drain in their foot soakers. In fact, I would suggest asking to see the filter off the foot soaker to ensure it was cleaned before sticking your feet in it. read more

I paid 79 dollars to have a really nice nails but I guess not. I wanted longer nails and she cut the way I wanted it and when she filed it it looked a lot shorter so I told her I want long nails so she used gel on top of my nails and she said "I can't take off your nails because I already put powder and everything" I was willing to pay more to get them off and get longer nails but still she charged me 10 dollars for her "really good job" she could have done better. I have been to place where if your not happy with the length of your nails then they take it off and redo everything. IT IS NOT WORTH THE MONEY. read more

This is one of the worst nail salons I have ever been too. They rush way to fast and it shows overall looks sloppy. I have only went to this salon when I am in a rush as I work dt with my fingers crossed that they will do a good job. It is a constant let down and everytime I leave dissatisfied paying for top quality and receiving extremely poor. They charge 45 for a gel shellac and 40 for a half fast pedicure that you will need to get re done in less than a week - do yourself the favour and go down the street to All Style Nails. The so-called "technician" cut out sections on each side of the big toes and then pulled out a piece of skin which caused bleeding! I said that it hurt and she didn't apologize, but instead claimed I had an "ingrown". I may have more than an ingrown now! Stay away from this place...am surprised they are in business. :( read more

I have had sculptured nails for at least 20 years, I just recently developed an allergy to acrylics and I hadUV Gel nails done wednesday, by thursday morning they were peeling and separating, Went back the next for them to fix them and I am disgusted at how they look. I had the worst manicure experience of my entire life. Right after she filed my nails only with two strokes for each nail, she half-hardheartedly worked on my cuticles (Because, she did not do a good job on this task either I had to ask her kindly if she can do some of my cuticles again). Next, she moved onto nail polish! I was surprised that she even did not clean left overs. I HAD TO CLEAN INSIDE OF MY NAILS MYSELF! The worst part is I did it in front of her, and she even did not bother to say "hey, i can do that! after all that is what you are paying for." They make you pay before the procedure ends, and I tipped her 15 percent. Instead of being motivated- she entirely cut her service after I paid. Do not tip before she actually finishes the work. Believe me you will not want to tip even pay 3 bucks for their service.I agree with others' comments below. It is very dirty place and they do not take their work seriously. Truly the worst nail salon. The woman was extremely rude and she started muttering in her language when I kindly asked her to shape the nails oval without sharp corners as I cannot have them sharp for work. She rushed through everything while not paying attention, including while drilling. She cut me a few times and left my nails looking rugged. After she partially removed the old gel, the gel bits were still all over my fingers and hands. Instead of dusting it off, she went ahead and applied lotion with the dust and bits still on my skin making it uncomfortable and gritty. When I chose my polish colour she told me it was ugly and to choose another one. At that point I told her thank you for your time but I've changed my mind on having anything else done. When I got up to leave and pay (not sure why I even paid for anything) she tried over charging me for service! I will never go back there. Also, I should note that while I was trying to pay, I noticed her coworker soak a clients nails in a bowl of acetone and once she was done she poured it back into the container. What the hell! Rudest service I have ever received! I came in because I broke one of my artificial nails (had them applied else where) and was able to match the shellac colour. The lady? Flat out rude. She was face timing someone the entire time! I get that it was dead but she could have called them after we were done! She applied the nail sideways and when I told her it was shaped wrong? Filled the wrong side! Didn't even apply a base coat and I had to specifically ask for a top coat! I came in with a full set of nails that had been filled once already. One nail had broke so I wanted to get them removed and a full set reapplied. On the sign it said a full set included removal.. but when I sat down she insisted an additional $20. She was very rough with the removal and had ripped two of my nails pretty badly and they hurt instantly.. she also slipped with the electric file three times onto my skin.. decided not to get nails done by her and just got the removal done. She did make an effort to fix the two nails she ripped so they wouldnt hurt as much, which was nice.. The Bitch who did my nails filed very close to my nail bed so when they grew out they were literally broken into two parts. I applied nail paint on top of them because they look so bad and they keep moving back and forth so i just cut them so that my broken and horribly damaged nails can finally grow back. I was scared to death because i could see that my nails were broken under my acrylics. So i went to some other place to get them removed as my pinky hurt so bad. The girl who removed my nails soaked my nails in acetone for an hour but still couldnt get it off, cheap quality stuff of course!! So, i paid $65 to break 7 of my nails; yes, and i only have 10 fingers! So not fucking worth it. They are no nail technicians, bunch of quacks who sit and bob their heads speak in their language you dont even know what is going on and voila!! congratulations you have spent half n hour of your time and paid these assholes money to ruin your nails till they grow out again. Dr said do not go there as they have even managed to infect your nails! I went there today because it is closer than Vos. Poor judgement call. I just wanted a gel polish change. I was told to look through the colours while they filed the black colour off...i didnt notice until i chose a colour that she had filed it all off- WITHOUT using acetone! i was scared....the entire thing took 10 minutes. the uv lamp was ontop of the table and my hands were propped up on it. ghetttttooo. and each hand was in there for as fast as she could paint the other hand. not like any experience ive ever had at Pinklime or Vos. the colour is uneven (light pink) and the nails are not filed properly, some of the gel polish is on my skin AND my nails are NOT strong like they should be. They feel like a regular mani. she kept asking me if i wanted a pedi or my toes painted. i felt like i was being herded. anyways, i called back and told them i wasnt happy and want it re done. this time- acetone and arms propped on the table and not the UV light. i hope that my nails arent fucked up from the filing. Or o might just get them to take the polish off and head on over to VOs. i have my fingers crossed that they only have one nail tech without a licence. read more

Stopped in here with a friend to get our shellac nail color changed. She didn't bother to let my nails soak in acetone and just grinded the old shellac off ,which left my nails feeling very weak and brittle after she was done. Also there was employee sitting in the chair beside me sleeping. Very unprofessional. After a couple of days my friends nails started breaking and bubbling. She went to a different salon and was told her nails were all wet underneath the shellac (which can lead to fungus growth) and were grinded down way too far. Very scary! I would not recommend this place to my worse enemy. Stay far away! read more

My recommendation is to avoid this place at all costs. Two days ago I had a pedicure there. It took less than 1/2 hour. She rushed as if she had someone waiting for her. I was the only customer. I see why - For $40.00 I received a pedicure that was not professional - and a painful INFECTION. You may go once - but I doubt you will be a repeat customer. I just called to tell them about the infection - and the girl who I spoke to said - "oh - we are sorry - I will speak to the girl who did it and we will try to be cleaner." Not sure how she knew who did it unless I was the only customer that day!!!! That did not instill confidence in me. Now for a doctors appointment! A person often gets a pedicure before leaving for a trip. I am not very happy right now - I can only imagine how angry I would be if I had to leave on vacation with this mess. Absolutely aweful. I will never step foot into a Studio Nails again. Went to the one in millwoods, told them what I wanted and she kept saying no to everything. It was very simple to point out. So I had to pick different colors now because she wouldn't do what I wanted. She got mad at me for taking 3 mins to pick a nail color. When I picked my color she had nothing good to say. EVerything was negative. She did not do the length or shape I had asked and to top it off she did a design on my nail that I could have done. It looked like crap. $70.00 later i was not happy so I went back and simply said I have never had a problem with them before and I have always loved my nails but this set I am really not happy with. I asked if she could replace them or fix them as I did not want so spend $70.00 on something I hated. She gets in my face tells me I am giving her a headache and I said that is no way to treat your customers. She then goes on to say it is my fault they look like that. I was so excited to see that the Studio nail salon finally opened this past Thursday. So yesterday (July 17) I decided to treat myself to a manicure; I was greeted by a young lady and I sat down at the chair near the entrance and I waited 10 minutes even though it was early and they had only two other customers (4 aestheticians and a young preschooler running around). Then a young woman came to remove my nail polish, took a few calls and then left me again when a mature customer entered as a walk-in. 10 minutes later the young lady who greeted me earlier came to give me my French manicure. She did not say much but appeared a bit stressed. I asked her if she had been busy this morning (it was 11am on a Saturday), she said no. I asked her if she had been doing nails for long since she looked young. She explained that she was helping her sister out and was still in high school. I am new to getting my nails done, but from my limited experience they should all be licensed aestheticians (right??). At this point she was applying the white nail polish on my natural nails and I allowed her to finish as it was not her fault she was made to work for her sister. I allowed her to finish my French manicure; she did an okay job except that her nail polish transferred on to my nails. She had a dark colour on her tips and when she corrected her errors with her nail, the nail polish came off because of the acetone (this is why aestheticians usually have no nail polish on their nails). It was a disappointing experience in that I felt that the lady who started my manicure thought it was okay to leave me for another customer and have her teenage sister finish my manicure. If all went well I would have gone to thissalon 4X over the past 3 months . I have gel nails and get a fill every 3 weeks, Initially I had a fill and laquer polish. The polish $43.00 should last min 3-4 weeks/ Lasted 2 days.. I returned and the girl who originally did it repaired it. lasted 1 more day.. returned again and someone else stepped in and repaired ( not lil chips here but entire nails .. and its laquer u cant fix at home! ) .. made it through to 3 weeks ( now at 3 trips) had someone else... lasted 3 weeks till I returned as my nail bed had grown... again had the 1st person a soriginal.. thought maybe a fluke. she did again and from Tue to thurs 4 nails fel apart.. went back.. sorry come back tomorrow.. couldn't so I had to leave it 3 days till I was back downtow... went back.. sorry too busy pls come back tomorrow as I* have an appt coming in.. Went back again for the 3rd time ( 3rd lunch hr wasted waiting) .. Today I go in and they dremmel off 6 of the 10 nails ( almost 1 week from the 1st visit) ... replace the same polish and apologize because the person who has done my nails never " roughed' them enuf to hold the laquer.. So today I get 6 of 10 nails redone and guess what happens?? My thumb peels back and 1/2 my nail is exposed and I cant fix it since its Laquer!!!!!!!! Urghh!!!!!
