I will give them kudos on their fatty toro with caviar, which was delicious and actually a substantial size. The salmon and eel hand rolls were mediocre. A Carafe of their cheapest sake ($40), five (5) pieces of sushi and two (2) hand rolls ran us $150 without tip, which in fairness might be very low if you receive the same service that we did. I had a very odd experience with two friends at this business that left a sour taste in all of our mouths. Our party of three attended a wonderful omakase experience at the chef's counter (not that it truly matters, but we each spent triple digits on omakase and cocktails). When the meal ended, we wanted to hang around the bar and we were told that no, we couldn't stay, and that we had to leave the premises. I want to clarify that we weren't (and aren't) rude or disruptive in any way. The business told us that because we hadn't reserved an actual seat at the bar, we couldn't stay. We told them we were more than happy to just stand by the jukebox but they told us no. No explanation, just that we needed to leave. Spending a hefty price tag on dinner and then being kicked out of the bar was equal parts jarring, hurtful and infuriating. So, one star. Don't recommend. read more

Truly the only good thing about this place is the whole look of it. Its so so cool inside and its a shame the drinks and service dont complement it. I had an un drinkable espresso martini a while back and thought I'd give them another shot tonight. We showed up around 9 on a Thursday and understandably its their policy they dont do standing room during dinner service. So as instructed by the host, we came back at 11. We then were told we still could not be admitted inside and were told to come back in 15ish mins with attitude and no other suggestions/options. From a service workers point of view you would think having 6 girls take the effort to come back to your bar hours later would be something that would be appreciated and not just dismissed immediately. Horrible service! Most of her review on google are her family, friends and even staff!! There not real and she photoshops her pictures, please look at her pictures and blow them up! Nails- can see the gel is uneven the shape is off or she claims it's not her work but it is! Came to this spot originally just for drinks. My girlfriend had made the reservation for 5 of us and didn't realize they required each person in the party to purchase $60 worth of food when you make a reservation. Admittedly that was our fault, but strange policy of you ask me. We explained the misunderstanding to the server and she pretty much shrugged her shoulders so we asked if we could speak with a manager. She proceeds to grab who I believe was the door person or the host, not really sure what her job was. The lady starts yelling at me and pointing to their policy on resy. I tried to explain that we were happy to pay for our drinks and leave but we were not going to pay for food we weren't going to eat. She proceeds to complain about how they were losing reservations because we had taken a table, mind you when we were sat originally, they placed us in a corner haphazardly squished at a table with a 10 person birthday party so not sure where all these reservations were considering the place was not full AT ALL. She was incredibly unprofessional and disrespectful. We ended up paying for our drinks and made to feel like they were doing up a favor. This is my favorite hang in downtown NYC. The room is so beautiful that it makes you want to come back again and again with your friends. The sushi is fresh and delicious, there's always amazing music and the cocktails are great. My favorites are the ones that come in the fancy coupe glasses with the gold rim ! I love that you can come earlier for a chill time for sushi with friends, and on the weekends later on it always turns into a party. I came here last night for an event friends were involved in. Even though I was awake for the last 48 hours working on deadlines, I came out to be of support. However, the ambience of this place got to me: dark rooms illuminated by red light bulbs, languorous music, soft chairs, and a chatty crowd. So I dozed off. However, a female bartender woke me up somehow and then got in my face to tell me that sleeping isn't allowed and to get out. Then asked me if I came with anyone. She ended her scolding by telling me to go outside and get some air. Then stormed off. By the time I felt ready to get up and share her antics with others, good laughs were heartily shared all around. Interestingly, she kept repeatedly running over to where we were standing by the DJ booth to wipe it down while throwing more dirty looks my way. I know this place is trying really hard to give off that sexy and underground vibe but it won't work when the staff act like a bunch of touchy grandmas who don't want you getting too comfortable in their space. It's a sprawling second floor den of dark lights, ambient tones, and dancing that even the most incredulous detractor from club life can appreciate. It definitely has a pre-Giuliani feel to it, and it's a nice respite from the usual club experience. Perhaps one of the best features is that drinks won't cost you a 20% down payment on a coop - each vodka/soda I purchased was just $10, and while that's by no stretch a bargain, it sure is for a nightclub. I was looking for a unique experience for a birthday celebration. Studio 151 delivered. We sat at the sushi bar and ordered the omakase. The bar only seats four to five people so the experience is very intimate. It was amazing! Everything was so incredibly fresh and had a little something that made it stand out from a typical hand roll. Whether is was smokiness, a little salt, or a garlic chip. To be clear, it is not sushi with a bunch of sauces and avocado (which I also love). The cocktails were also amazing as well as the music and overall vibe. I will definitely be back. read more

The music was mainly Disco and most of the people enjoyed it. The music selections where excellent. Although it was very crowded, I enjoyed myself. The only two downsides with this venue are long wait times at the bar and the restrooms. The prices were consistent with cocktail prices in the city. The restroom was clean and fairly roomy. studio 151 is such a cool space, with a fun bar, great music, and interesting people. however, after last night, I won't ever be returning. the hostess was so incredibly rude and condescending after looking my group up and down multiple times, she deemed she could do us a favor and seat us since we were a group of girls and as long as we promised to be quiet, I'm sorry but what?! she continued to cross her arms and glare at us for the next ten minutes. we had multiple chairs open at our table, so we invited a friend in the area to come join. the hostess walked up to me and yelled in my face for 5 minutes about how she did us a favor even though we don't "deserve" to be there and that I should have begged her first to see if our friend could join. Such a bummer, because the bouncer and waiter were SO kind, but the hostess is the face of the lounge and studio 151 is entirely accountable for the kind of nasty behavior they chose to put up with. read more

Someone tried to steal my jacket and when i confronted her and took my jacket back, she attacked me, i defended myself and someone separated us. Asked the bouncer for help and instead he thought my friend was the girl I was referring to and kicked her out and I hadn't realized. When I asked for help again and to call the cops, the manager told me to get the bouncer and he asked the lady to leave-- as she did she attacked me again and I defended myself once again pushing her away, at which point the bouncer then put me in a choke hold while she got away. I had to scream for minutes for him to let me go and try to tell him she was the one who attacked me and was trying to steal property. On top of all that, in the beginning of the night at the door--even though it was dead inside-- he charged us twice what my male friend paid to get in (yes, you actually have to pay to get in-- but they should be paying you how horrendous this place is). Do not visit this place if you value your safety-- when I called the cops the management denies everything and stated they didn't have cameras inside to review and didn't even apologize instead ran away. read more
