Absolutely delish! Closed out our #vacation2021 at Stripsteak Waikiki, and we were not disappointed. To be honest, this was probably on of the best dinners that we had wile visiting Oahu. From the moment we arrived, we were pleasantly greeted, to our server who was awesome, and even the managers checking on us to make sure we have everything we needed. Stripsteak Waikiki has next level service. A+ to the team! Plus, the restaurant is spotless, and follows all COVID safety protocols. As for the food...OMG! Everything was so good! While we were enjoying our 1st round of cocktails, we were delivered complimentary french fries. And who doesn't love fries?! They were perfectly salted and so good. We started off with cocktails and appetizers. I of course had sparkling rose and my husband his old fashioned. The instant bacon is a must try. I am not a pork belly fan, but my husband is. This dish was so good, I even loved it. We split a Caesar salad, and both ordered the 8pz filets. We ordered the garlic fried rice for our side to share, and it was so tasty. Again, it had pork belly, which as I previously stated , am not a fan, but wow this was so good. Stripsteak has convinced me to like pork belly...lol! But of course, my favorite part of dinner was the Kona dark chocolate cake. Chocolate cake with yummy layers of a mousse like filling...YUMMY! Best brussel sprouts of my life. CUSTOMER SERVICE IS THE BEST I'VE EXPERIENCED IN WAIKIKI. My husband and I shared the 20 oz bone in ribeye and ordered sides of brussel sprouts and charred broccolini. They also offer complimentary fries fried in duck fat with 3 sauces, garlic aioli, ketchup, and a tonkatsu sauce. We came back a second time just for the brussel sprouts and steak. Each time we interacted with like 6 different staff members and every single person is on top of it. Great attention to detail and attentive to the small things. I was feeding our 6 month old in the bathroom and the waiters waited until I came back to bring out our food at the same time so my husband and I could eat it together. a small considerate detail I appreciated. Also one waiter (not ours) noticed I had some crumbs on my table before my food came and quickly came over to clean it up before our food arrived. Initially thought we'd do happy hour, but after looking at the HH menu, hubby decided to keep our table reservation. We haven't been to STRIPSTEAK for about 5 years, so this was a wonderful reintroduction. Right off, we felt like regulars. We were warmly welcomed back by Buddy who had served us before. He knew our drink/food preferences and was able to recommend something in line with their updated menu. (Yes, I know it's all in their computer system, but it's a nice touch to connect with patrons ). Both versions of the old fashioneds we had were on point. Hubby also ordered an aviator, which most establishments can't make because one of the liquors in it is uncommon. Yet, STRIPSTEAK had a bottle on hand. Also, had a beautiful glass of Cabernet recommended by Buddy. Although their menu has an Asian flair to it, we enjoyed every dish, plus the extras graciously sent from the kitchen. For appetizers, they started us off with complimentary truffle fries and oysters. The oysters were so fresh that we considered ordering more. We ordered the the crab cake and truffle hamachi. Crab cake had just that right crunch, top-quality crab flavor, and was a perfect size for two to share. I completely drooled and devoured the truffle hamachi. Although the truffle scent was strong, the light taste of the fish still came through. Entree we shared the washugyu steak... perfectly medium rare, tender, and well-seasoned, with a side of mushrooms and a complimentary dish of miso brocccolini. Every dish complimented the other. Each bite made us question why we hadn't come back sooner. Ended the meal with a tableside experience of pineapple flambe. I was so full by this point that the dessert didn't wow me as much as it did hubby. Service is impeccable. They have found the balance between upscale and neighborhood friendly. You know it's fine dining, but never is it stuffy or uptight. The ambiance and energy are warm and inviting. They really work on forming a connection. We were looked in upon frequently, but not too much to interrupt. The manager, Diane, stopped by our table and conversed with us about the missing lobster pot pie from their menu. We had dinner at this restaurant on May 26, 2024 and had quite a memorable experience. We arrived close to 5:30 PM and already had reservations. Both indoor and outdoor dining areas were available. Walking indoors, I was really impressed with the decor of the restaurant. Our waiter, Julian was excellent. He went over all of the menu options in a very efficient manner. I ordered the Chilean sea bass which was cooked to perfection! My husband ordered the filet mignon which was grilled exactly the way he wanted. The baked potato with all of its toppings was precut to make it easier to eat without the potato falling apart or the toppings spilling out. The staff was very good about keeping our glasses filled and making sure that the table was always cleared and wiped down whenever a new course was served. Julian gave us some history about the restaurant and its 007 architectural theme which was quite impressive! The restrooms are tucked away down a narrow hallway within the restaurant and are very clean. The French fries that were served as a complimentary appetizer were delicious with types of sauces. When you splurge on Waikīkī you want everything to be perfect. And that's what we found at Strip Steak. Our waiter, Richard, worked with our quirky style. We enjoyed some fabulous happy hour specials alongside the main menu items. They served us a special French fry arrangement with three kinds of sauces while we waited for our food. Nice! The Lili koi mai Tai was a wonderful drink. Brussel sprouts and garlic fried rice tasted as delicious as they looked and smelled. The stars of the show were the Happy Hour steak special and my husband had the Mahi Mahi from the main menu. It was an unforgettable night, from the flavors to the presentation to the wonderful service. All topped off with an amazing dessert. Special thanks also to Julian and Isaiah for the terrific service as well and to Chris the General Manager who paid us a visit. We felt like rock stars. Rock stars who go home with doggy bags and have a wonderful leftover dinner the next night. I would take someone here when it absolutely has to be a great memory. This place was great. Everything we ordered was SO good. Tends to be a little on the expensive side, but when you taste the food you'll know it's worth it. First of all it was my birthday and we were served complimentary glasses of rosé which was really unexpected and nice. They brought us the best tasting DUCK FAT FRIES with 3 different dipping sauces (our fave: truffle garlic aioli!) But then we ordered Instant Bacon and were FLOORED at the taste! I'd come back just for that. We also split the Caesar salad which was really good too. Ok wine, fries, salad and bacon. I'd come back just for that. But then... Omg the ribeye, which I split with my daughter, was SO TENDER and juicy. So then maybe when I come back I'd have to have that too. Wine, fries, instant bacon, Caesar salad, ribeye. Then we also got garlic mashed potatoes, which my daughter wouldn't share with me so we got TWO. And they're huge. And wonderful. And we also got green beans which went well with the potatoes and steak. And we had a ton of leftovers. The hostesses at Stripsteak are in a class of their own, as in completely oblivious to the value of a paying guest. The two gals at reception acted as though they were themselves VIPS who couldn't be bothered by questions about the restaurant and the seating. Why they want to be in customer-facing jobs is an enigma when they telegraph how much they disdain the job of answering questions about the establishment that employs them to interact with guests. I dunno. Maybe there is a shortage of friendly staff who enjoy people politely asking about the food and venue. Management really needs to secret shop their front line. We were totally turned off by the bad vibe and attitude extended to us and we are locals who frequently entertain in Waikiki. These meals average $150 and up per person and with today's economy it should warrant a polite and perhaps friendly interaction instead of something borderline hostile. Just sayin'. To Michael Mina's Stripsteak in the International Marketplace in Waikiki. I've dined at their namesake restaurant in Las Vegas. Outdoor dining was perfect, as was Brian my server and Justin the GM who welcomed me. I start with a Hamachi tasting from the Chef. Beautifully presented. I heard the Instant Bacon was a Yelp review favorite. Instant Bacon? Nope, pork belly and wood smoke! Very rich as expected and far too large a portion for one to eat. Gotta love the complimentary duck-fat fries with three dipping sauces; truffle, herb and furikake. Ordering a steak in Hawaii doesn't make sense to me. I followed my server's suggestion. I love chicken pot pies. So I'm a sucker for Michael Mina's Kona Lobster Pot Pie. Supposedly Mina's wife came up with the original recipe. They use deep cold water off Kona to raise lobsters like those from New England. I loved the table side presentation, but it's over priced for what you get. read more

He was also patient & helpful, allowing us to taste several wines before deciding which ones we wanted to enjoy by the glass. My husband and I were really excited to try Stripsteak Waikiki. We were seated outside and the atmosphere was great. We were brought a serving of French fries with three different dipping sauces. This was our first introduction to food from their kitchen and it was awful. The potato fries were cool and seemed as if they sat out under a heat lamp for a long time and then taken out for a while and THEN brought to us. Yuck. We didn't have high hopes for the food after that, but when our main dishes were served, I was happy that my filet was perfectly cool and delicious. My Husband's fish was also seasoned well and cooked to perfection. The mashed potatoes were way over-salted and my asparagus was mushy, not fresh and not very good at all. I am so glad that our main choices were great, but for the price, I expect for all of the food brought to be equally excellent and overall, this place just didn't do it for me. Some of us sent them back to be cooked again, one of us sent it back twice. None of them were adequately cooked to our preferences even after sending them back. I know med-well is considered burnt to some but if that's what the customer wants...The waiter didn't charge for 2 of the 3 entrees but it was still $800 for 6 people. My hotel concierge suggested here when I could not decide between sushi and steak... So, I looked it up, and saw they've got very reasonable happy hour deals at the bar section! The restaurant setting was very nice. Three bartenders were working at the bar - they were all friendly and polite. I still could not decide between sushi items and steak...but as soon as I saw people across from me were getting a nice steak dish, I decided to go with the mini course which comes with spicy tuna hand roll and 12oz NY Strip Steak with duck fat fries. The hand roll was a good appetizer item. The steak was done perfect medium-rare...tender and juicy! I asked for aioli sauce which went well with the fries. I heard about Stripsteak when they first opened a few years ago, and hear amazing things about it, but was turned away by the price. Luckily, they now offer a happy hour menu from 4-6pm, and I knew I had to take advantage of it. The ambiance was very chic and classy, perfect for a date night, plus they validate parking for the International Market Place. **** Food **** Ahi Poke Tacos ($11) Two tacos made with crispy wonton shells and stuffed with the Ahi Tartare. I loved the unique combination of pears, pine nuts, and ahi in the dish because it was unlike anything I've ever tasted before. The wonton shell, although a little difficult to eat, brought a nice crunch factor to the dish. Baked King Crab Dip ($14): My favorite dish from Stripsteak, made with spinach, mozzarella, and chunks of king crab, topped with garlic streusel and served with four pieces of grilled bread. If you've ever raved about CPK's spinach artichoke dip, drop everything and try this dip, because it'll be your new favorite. It was so creamy and hearty, with generous portions of king crab in every bite. We basically fought for the last bite. Sashimi (2pc; $6): We got three orders of sashimi; Maguro, Salmon, and Hamachi. They were all super fresh and soft, and presented very nicely. 12Oz NY Stripsteak (Part of the Stripsteak Sunset Supper, which also includes a Tuna Hand Roll; $40) Garnished with shaved sea salt and served on a bed of garlic spinach and a side of duck fat fries. Went to Stripsteak the other night (Christmas Eve) w table of 15 with family. Restaurant served a fixed price ($150) menu w several other Ala cart sides and other appetizers. Unfortunately, the food and service was very disappointing. The ceasar salad ($10 extra from prix fix menu) was drenched in dressing, yuk! My 93 year-old mother was too polite to complain. Unfortunately, things didn't improve. Mom and Aunt's Mahi Mahi entree from prix fix menu was very tough and overdone. Both mom and auntie had two bites each, stopped eating it even though they were hungry. After I let wait staff know, they demurred and didn't offer to do anything about it. My father's and my and my filet mignon was not medium or medium rare...it was RAW below 1/8 inch of the 2-inch thick 8 oz piece. After sending back it came back just a raw! We gave up and took it home to consume another time. The two desserts (cheesecake and chocolate black forrest cake) were nothing special and the chocolate dessert was stale. Worse than what u get at a buffet dinner. While I know it was a prie fixe menu, serving over some tough inedible fish and a twice botched 8 oz filet mignon which are on their regular non-prix fixe menu is unacceptable, and definitely not worth the over $200/person tab (including drinks). My cousins were also too polite to say anything about their meals. Too nice locals I think. Or maybe they couldn't see what they were eating since it was very dark (and noisy) in the restaurant. We would've been better off at Roy's Eating House restaurant a couple doors down or even Liliha Bakery next door! Recommend saving your $ and staying away. Too bad, very sad. The waitstaff definitely gave me a shock, my wine glass was never empty (of course till we finished the bottle) and my water was always filled to when it was half empty (or full, which ever way you want to look at it). Tentative staff no complaints there. Food was amazing. Fish was cooked to perfection. Steak was cooked as requested, not under or over done. Garlic fried rice could use more garlic and do without the mushrooms. The sautéed mushrooms had a bit of spice to it, but honestly it was not my favorite. The sauce gave it a little weird taste to it, but I mean that's just based on my opinion others may think other wise, but I knew I should have gotten the broccolini. Crab cake was awesome. There were a few things I forgot to take a photo of because I went to Stripsteak literally hangry. Seafood tower is a must. And that wasabi aioli was perfect on everything! The lilikoi dipping sauce was my least favorite just because there was a hint of coconut, and I don't care for coconut. I'm not a big fan of old fashioned but since it was a special of theirs I figured to give it try, and OMG IT WAS AMAZING! they also give you duck fat fries, just ask them for more truffle aioli trust me! It's so good! Dessert was awesome minus the fact that there were cherries. I didn't eat the cake of course because of the coconut. There was someone preforming the night we were there which, ultimately when there's a performance, the performer is loud and usually you can't hear your own conversation but it was actually moderate and mellow. It is kinda dark in the restaurant, but it was nice for a more relaxed vibe. My dinner reservation started at 6pm, by the time we were done we left at 845. Time literally flew. The food is not good. At all. I was so looking forward to eating here, especially to try the much talked about duck fat fries. On the bright side, at least the fries were complimentary? There were fortunately some positives. The booth seats are comfortable and provide an intimate and cozy dining experience. The cocktails are top notch. And the service was friendly even though some of the waitstaff started eyeing us after we stayed an additional ten minutes to chat after paying the bill. You have to pay top dollar to keep your fannies in those plush seats! In our defense, there were plenty of other empty tables and we did not see other patrons with a reservation waiting. My friend loved her Bourbon Sunset cocktail. I thought the Whispering Peach cocktail was tasty and looked so floral and feminine. So maybe my friend and I will return for happy hour at the bar just for the drinks. Because everything went downhill once the food was served. Now the bad news. I wasn't impressed with a single dish we ordered. First, the complimentary Duck Fat Fries. They weren't very crispy and I thought the taste of the duck fat could have been stronger. I only liked the truffle aioli sauce. The other two sauces - basic ketchup and tonkatsu sauce - that came with the fries felt out of place in an upscale steakhouse. For you world travelers, try the crispy duck fat fries at Hopscotch if you ever find yourself in Seoul, South Korea. I could barely taste the lobster and avocado in the Lobster Tacos. I mostly tasted the pineapple and garnish. One taco went to waste because I took it home and the next day the wonton shell was too soggy to eat. It wasn't good enough for us to feel compelled to scarf it all down while we were at the restaurant. Pass on this appetizer. The Tokyo Tots and the Mac & Cheese were equally unimpressive. I usually love tater tots but this was a failed attempt to elevate a greasy pleasure best left simple into a fancy mess of a dish. I also usually love truffles, but this truffle mac & cheese left much to be desired. It did not have a lot of seasoning and the cheese to me wasn't that tasty. The New York Strip Steak was the most disappointing of all because this was the main entrée that my friend and I decided to share. We ordered it to be cooked medium but it was still tough and flavorless. It lacked the right amount of seasoning. I liked the greens on top of the steak, but too bad there were only two strands of scallion, or whatever it was. I realized after my first bite that my boyfriend cooks better steak at home. His is so tender and juicy in comparison to the $60 piece of rubber flesh that was served to us. Yuck. I also remember that I was much more impressed by the steak I ate at Cattle Company in Pearl City. It was juicier, the steak comes with two sides, and it was for less than half the price of a steak at StripSteak!! Take the drive out to Pearl City. It'll be worth it. I don't have much of a sweet tooth, but my friend likes dessert, so we'll usually share one whenever we dine out. It was very surprising to see her pass on dessert because she was so underwhelmed by our appetizers and entrée. I realllly hate to leave a bad review. But my goodness, out of all the fine dining places I've ever had this year... this is by far the worst one. Checked in at 9pm which is near their closing, which is understanding. We had reserved for 17 of our family/friends. Took us about a hour to even be sat down because we had to be relocated... yet nothing really to drink but water. Then let alone, another 20 minutes to get there complimentary fries which is a lil mediocre. Fast forward, we got our meals and it was alright, my friend next to me got the tomahawk steak and had to get it redone 3 times because it was'nt cooked the way they asked for... They got a complimentary sashimi after that with gold.. whoopty do. Fine dining, almost closing, and slow service? Really? Applebees coulda done a better job than that. We celebrated a birthday last week, so my ohana decided to go to Stripsteak at the International Market Place. It was a first, for the entire ohana as none of us had been to Stripsteak. What can I say about my overall experience? Service was definitely lacking that night, when you go to a restaurant like this and spend over $400.00 for a meal for 4 persons, there are some expectations for the level of service you should be receiving. I will get into more detail later......... As for the food............. overall the food was pretty good, they had some interesting dishes with some pretty unique flavors. If I had to say one negative thing about our meal, one of the cuts of steak we received, the cut of meat had a lot of gristle & fat on it! Unfortunately I forgot to take a photo of the mound of gristle & fat we cut off on that piece of steak! Yuck!!!! So much for quality meat............ Items we ordered that night - For appetizers we ordered - 1. "Instant" Bacon - Pork Belly, Tempura Oyster, Black Pepper Soy Glaze ($22.00). The ohana loved the dish, good flavor. 2. Rainbow Roll ($19.00) - which had Avocado, Crab, Tuna, Salmon, Yellowtail. Nicely done, fish was fresh, no complaints here. Complementary - Duck Fat Fries with (3) dipping sauce - Truffle Aioli, House made Ketchup, & Katsu Sauce. People rave about this.........and I can clearly see why. Deeeeeeeeeeeelicious! Love the various dipping sauces that they provided. Our meal - We ended up ordering from the "Ohana Menu" $75.00 per person at it requires participation of the entire party is required. Items on the Ohana Menu were - 1. Makimono Rolls 2. Michael's Ahi Tuna Tartare 3. Lobster Tacos 4. Blistered Shishito Peppers 5. USDA Prime Rib Eye which comes with chef's selection of sides Sides - 1. Truffle Mac & Cheese 2. Baby Garlic Spinach 3. "Tokyo" Tots with Yuzu Aioli, Bonito Getting back to the service, as we got seated it took awhile before someone showed up to our table to greet us & drop off menus. Apparently the service has (2) persons, the "main waiter", and an assistant who does the small things like dropping off the food, and refilling our drinks. Basically, the entire night the "main waiter" was non-existent, and didn't even bother to check up on us. As we finished up our meal, it was late, and we wanted to settle our bill & head out the door. We couldn't even flag down our waiter to get the bill, as he was "Mackin" some chicks by the entrance area, while we were seated by the wine cellar area. I could tell the assistant was fairly new, and tried her best to make up the lacking service we received. Tried the Happy Hour at the Bar. Servers are attentive and friendly. The Happy Hour menu had drinks and food selections that were great pricing for this high end restaurant. Everything was delicious and fresh. Will definitely return. read more
