These guys are outstanding. Simply put - hard stop! We had them out to cut down a medium sized pine tree that had died. When the tree hit the ground every pine needle came off. My wife said, have fun raking when they leave... next thing I knew they had the tree cut up faster than I can cut up a steak then the rakes came out. They cleaned up perfectly. Dean did that job himself and was able to get right up to the fence without damaging it. More recently I called the crew to trim a huge silver maple from my roof and my neighbor's. However, I became dissatisfied when they didn't show up at the appointed time and began to play with the pricing. Strictly Stumps did a thoroughly professional job, from start to finish. We are big believers in yelp reviews. So when we needed to have 2 large trees taken down due to age, we found 3 companies with the best reviews and asked for estimates. Strictly Stumps came in right in the middle in price, but were willing to match prices and were the soonest appointment. Now having used them, I will use no one else. They are communicative, friendly, and have a hardworking team. They work quickly, courteously, do everything they say they will, and more. High weeds around the base of the tree, no problem, they mowed it. Entrance not large enough for machinery, no problem, they moved the fence and put it back carefully and sturdily. Dog to be careful of, no problem, they were friendly, didn't scare her and made sure she was inside before they started to work, and all of the fences were closed, so that she was safe. They even removed 3 large piles of old rotting wood, for a very reasonable price. When I offered to pay more than the estimate, because they had done more than I expected, they refused. They quoted a price and stuck to it. No nickel and diming, no upping prices. They left only the firewood I wanted, ground the stumps so well that they are mulch ready, and helped my neighbor move the extra firewood that he requested. They were also very polite and appreciative of any little courtesies we offered, like putting out cold sodas for them. I can't rate Strictly Stumps high enough, they will be back to do additional work soon. read more

If you are a long-term home-owner you are probably always trying to maintain a list of quality reliable contractors. I have a few requirements before I recommend a contractor to friends and neighbors. First, they have to have integrity. I don't want anyone who is going to recommend unnecessary work (e.g., gotta replace that AC unit when a cheap fuse only needs to be replaced). Second, price has to be reasonably competitive for the type and amount of work (I don't know anyone who is made of money), 3) they have to do quality work in a professional manner. If the contractor meets all three criteria then they make my recommended list. Note: I had used Strictly Stumps many years ago for stump grinding with favorable results. I'm happy that they branched out to do complete tree service. I'm happy to say that Strictly Stumps is now my go-to company for tree work or stump grinding. I had a fair amount of tree work to do and so I solicited three estimates from three companies including Strictly Stumps. The first contractor (begins with a T) recommended taking down 3 mature maples. I was a bit surprised and asked a friend who is employed as a landscape architect for a second opinion. Bottom line she thought the idea was crazy. Perhaps the fee was fine for the amount of work but bottom line the work didn't need to be done. The second contractor (begins with an R) didn't recommend that any of the maples be cut down. However, they presented additional optional work that was ridiculously priced at $300 (I did it myself with a pruner in 5-10 minutes). Pet peeve - I made an appointment so that I could walk them through the yard and discuss the potential work. They showed up on a different day and just left their proposal. Strictly Stumps came out when they said they would for the scheduled appointment and discussed everything that needed to be done. He recommended heavily pruning one maple but noted it was still healthy and worthwhile saving. I decided to go with Strictly Stumps. They came out the following week and took care of all the trimming of various trees. Branches were taken out of the yard; ground up; and hauled away. The team came through picking up smaller pieces and blowing away saw dust. I'm very happy with the results and intend to use them again whenever the need arises. I'd have no worries recommending Strictly Stumps to an 80yo grandmother in the neighborhood. read more

These guys are excellent! We had 7 large oaks that needed trimming and requested quotes from 6 area companies. Mark came out the very next day and was very personable and knowledgeable. He took the time to answer my questions without treating me like a dumb female, and his bid was the lowest of the bunch. The trimming crew was excellent. He did not bring any bucket trucks, saying that they didn't allow the best access to canopy so they climbed each of the oaks! It took about 5 hours (exactly as estimated) and they did an outstanding job. No damage to our lawn, and prized plants were unscathed. Just an outstanding job. I cannot recommend this company enough. They did an absolutely amazing job cutting some broken branches and trimming the 30+ feet tall trees in our back yard. Very professional and quick performance. Just by observing their work - you could tell they have been in this business for a long time and definitely know what they are doing up there. Licensed and fully insured (Yes, including workers comp. insurance, general liability, etc.), very friendly and super easy to work with. Using only ropes to climb up (following the code requirements precisely), no spiked boots, and no damage to the bark of the tree. I thought from all the reviews that I would try them. Buyer beware!!!! We were definitely taken advantage of! Mark called and was very responsive; he let me know when they were coming which I thought I was going to get good work with the responsiveness and professionalism up to this point but that's where it ends. They showed up on the morning agreed and as if they had a giant saw literally cut straight up a tree - didn't make sure the work was even on both sides as I had written on the on-line request. The large branches that had fallen were left, branches fallen in the neighbors yard were left and a pile of leaves that were raked by them were left. My husband called when he got home from work, spoke to someone who was argumentative, played the blame game and they never called back. BEWARE and use someone else!!!
