After many talks with my…read moreneighbor (who felt it would someday fall right through his roof), I finally decided to see who could remove it and how much it would cost, etc. Long story short ... I wanted to find a company who is relatively local (i.e., support my community). The first company I called, a very reputable one (who shall remain nameless), called me back and told me that due to just how dead the tree was, they would not take the job. Too much liability they said. I was surprised because I was thinking "Don't MOST tree removals involve trees that are pretty dead?". I asked this company what I should do now, and they said just to keep calling people until someone said yes. So, my next step was to go to Yelp. Thank goodness for Yelp! On 22 October, I get on Yelp and happened upon Hedy's review of All American - which was written just the day before! I called All American and Maggie answered the phone. She told me she believed All American can do the job and told me that Matt and Mike will come by my house to look at the tree within a day. Sure enough, Matt and Mike showed up in less than 24 hours. They figured out what needed to be done and gave me a reasonable quote on the spot. Two days later, Matt, Mike and two more guys showed up with a massive crane, a big truck and chainsaws. Like surgeons, the crew removed the tree piece by piece. What was impressive was not only the big machines, trucks and chainsaws, but also their attention to how to do the job safely and intelligently. Two days later, Tony came in to grind up the stump. I don't foresee having any tree issues in the near future (well ... I hope not). But if I did I'd just go straight to All American Lawn and Tree Service - a very experienced, competent, hard-working crew who also happen to provide great customer service (i.e., the little things like answering the phone, answering my nit-picky questions, etc.). Thanks again, Maggie, Matt, Mike and rest of the All-American crew! Marc

I had asked them to take down half of one tree (with 2 large trunks), but they advised to just trim several of the branches from one side to make sure we kept the tree alive, which made perfect sense. Mike and Matt are top notch and do whatever it takes to make the customer happy. They even came back to take down one more tree limb that I forgot to point out to them. They really saved me as I was in a time crunch as I needed to have DirecTV install a new dish.

As of this week, when I had to have my lawn aerated because most of the sod they laid had died, I can say this was the worst sod job I have seen (of 5 that I have done over 40 years). The person who aerated my lawn agreed. Whole pieces of the sod came loose; it never took. Lousy job, lousy sod, and too expensive. And when I told ERL about this they never responded. Buyer beware!

Working with the Woodlawn Tree Service team has been an incredibly positive experience that I'm…read morelikely to recommend them if ever anyone is needing trees removed/trimmed. Since fairly recently purchasing our property, we needed to remove some overgrown and very large trees from our front yard, including a giant shrub that almost conceals our floor to ceiling bay windows. Seriously, we've had friends and family having difficulty finding us because you could barely see our house, let alone the house number, from the street. So I found Woodlawn from those weekly coupons we receive in the mail. I got a free quote from Jim Nelson (owner) after he came by the property to write down the estimates for tree and root removal. When I had other questions about some other smaller trees and shrubs, Mr. Nelson was able to come out again to take a look and answer any other questions I had. I had been in contact with Lauren most of the time since she was able to send me a copy of the estimate, which itemized each tree and their cost for removal and a separate cost for root removal. It had been noted that if I decide to do partial work that was quoted, I would have been given a 15% discount. You get 20% off if deciding to have all the work done as quoted. I didn't sign with them right away since I was also getting quotes from other people but decided ultimately to go with Woodlawn because their contract was detailed and their years of service, as well as great customer service and reviews gave me the piece of mind knowing I'd be in good hands with them. Lauren informed me of the timeframe of when work would begin, which was about 3-4 weeks out due to their high demand. Sometimes weather could be a factor for delays and/or emergency calls from fallen trees and such. I was in no rush to I didn't mind the wait. Prior to the scheduled work, Lauren puts in a request for Miss Utility to come out and mark utility lines. On the day the work is scheduled to begin, I had to come out to confirm which trees needed to be removed. It took them 2 days to complete the work but honestly, they started around noon the first day and ended around noon by the second day. Like I said, we had some very big thick trees and a lot of roots were above ground. There was a whole team of guys doing work on removing trees and roots, hauling away the big lumbar and making sure the area is clean. Another make thing I truly appreciated was that I didn't have to pay until the work was completed and Me. Nelson did a final inspection. He found two small trees that hadn't been removed and had the work done within a week at no additional cost. Also, since I decided to pay by credit card, Lauren was able to come by the property so she could swipe the card directly. Excellent service throughout, from beginning to end. I thoroughly enjoyed with Mr. Nelson, Lauren and the rest of the Woodlawn Tree Service team. I highly recommend them!
