This place is my 2nd home on the weekends. It's a full service bike shop. Great location, fantastic service with restrooms for cyclists and a post ride espresso bar. I look forward to my daily post ride break at Strictly for some great coffee and socializing. There's usually a decent crowd of cyclists hanging outside of the shop, as quite a few group rides start from here. The owners, Nelson and Joanna, are the best. Always greeting customers with a smile and are very knowledgeable. The bike mechanics are great at providing emergency service whenever I have a mechanical, which is fairly frequently. Excellent bike store. Nelson does know how to run this place. Got a Cervélo P2 and fitted by Paul (included with the purchase and a must for any serious cyclist). Great detail orientation, good customer service, overall a very good shopping experience. Any triathlete in NJ or NY should get their bike here. As for the price: Yes, is a high end store, but they also got deals on previous years models, and at the end of the day, this is not a cheap sport. read more

I purchased a Trek Madone five years earlier from a mom & pop shop with a great special and a lousy bike fit. I was a "newbie" and didn't know much about the sport. I rode in pain but thought it was just natural. I made my own little tweaks over time. After a horrendously painful 50 mile ride, I was going to purchase my 3rd saddle in a year. I stopped in to Strictly on the way back and finally decided to spend the money for a thorough fit. Paul asked me a few questions and strongly recommended a bike fit, as did my friends and just about every magazine. Paul was very thorough and explained each adjustment. He didn't just change things up and send me on my way, his explanations made me feel good about the investment right off the bat. Furthermore, he saved me money on yet another saddle which was not the problem. Conveniently placed bike shop on the way to Piermont/Nyack. The bike shop staff is available, and the coffee shop staff is always ready to fill your bottle with water which is very appreciated. Unfortunately most of the bike equipment is expensive. I bought some bike tubes because I had a flat on the way bike home and it was way over an acceptable price, losing one star for that. read more

The merchandise seemed great, and they mechanics prolly know bikes inside out, but the one time I was there, I got shit for customer service. Spent $70+ bucks for a simple wheel fix, and I regret having wasted my money there. Reasons: 1) They didnt really listen to my concerns, and just kinda said "sure, we'll tune it up" 2) 3 days later I come to pick up my bike, and it takes a good 15 minutes for them to find it. 3) When given my bike back, not a word of explanation about what they did. 4) When pressed for an explanation, counter boy doesn't know what's up, so reluctantly goes to find the technician. This dude too didn't seem like they had the time of day to listen and digest my concerns about the problem. Dude actually snickers as he walks away. 5) Wheel has same problem again after a week, so I'm back to square one, without having a real solution. Gotta find a new repair shop. Too bad cuz this one was close to home. Then again, I was the customer with the shitty old school bike, and didn't look like a serious biker, so if you've got a gem and and spandex on, maybe they'll be really nice to you :) read more

Bought a Cevelo last Fall, have been happy as a clam since getting it. The people who work here are fine, Nelson, is terrific. Understand that if you come here on a Sunday or Saturday, it is the busiest shop in Northern New Jersey and you may have make it clear you want help and not just bask in the reflections coming from one of the best inventories of high end bicycles in the Metro area. A lot of us come here to relax after a long ride and so there is a lot going on. But make it clear you need help and you will get it, even if its only to purchase some minor item. As for shopping, there is a wide range of prices to fit most categories and the equipment here is of a high quality. So I recently brought in a 24 year bicycle (the one I gave my son for his YMCA ride out West) and now use for riding to work in the Bronx. I asked about repairing it and whether it was worth it (I know it probably isn't). Of course Nelson would have preferred to sell me an inexpensive Hybrid (and he's probably right) but I am into sustainability. So its in the shop. And I know I will be happy for a while. And then I'll kick myself for not buying the new one. But that is life and guess what - at least I can pass it on to someone else when the new one arrives. read more

Best bike shop around. Biggest selection, most knowledgeable staff who are cyclists themselves. They are honest, patient, and will go the extra mile to keep you around. When all other shops wouldn't even consider sending pictures of my broken Cervelo frame for a warranty review Nelson and his team took the time to document the broken bike (which was purchased elsewhere) and got it sent in for warranty. I've had many friends purchase bikes here and it's obvious why, they have the best selection and staff bar none. I will come back here every time and I happily recommend this place to beginner cyclists and seasoned vets, this shop is the cream of the crop. read more

This place is everything I wanted in a bike store and more. I just found them by chance on my 53-mile ride from West Village to Piermont and back. My seat was too high --after a very expensive bike fitting from a store in Manhattan-- and it was killing me on this fairly long ride. I went in and they were really friendly and knowledgeable and adjusted it to the perfect height. I have been in lot of bike stores and this place has a great selection. Definitely worth the stop on the way to Nyack or Piermont or anywhere. Good selection of bike nutrition, bike clothes and a much better job of bike fitting. Friendly. read more

Had my bike stolen this week in in NYC-a fact of life but always a sad day. Anyway went on line to Strictly Bicycles, check out their weekly specials, saw one that fit my needs and purchased it pronto. Here's where their superior customer service and professionalism showed. Winds up my choice bike frame would have been a size to small for me. I come down to the shop Max and Mike show me bikes in my price range and size. Million bikes with prices all over the spectrum, they don't hustle me, or try to push me up market, instead make me feel comfortable, fit me to the bike, take her for a trial spin, pick up a better lock for next time (heavy duty U shape) and "Voila" I'm on my way home on my new bike! I was in the market for a new bike with disc brakes but just couldn't justify the scratch for a new Pinarello Dogma F12 Disk. Besides the fact that my wife would kill me . Nelson went out of his way to find a Pinarello Dogma F10 Disk frame in my size. He built the bike with a Shimano DI2 electronic drivetrain and Zipp 303S wheelset to keep me within my budget. I couldn't be any happier. The bike is so quick and responsive and I enjoy riding it so much. You always feel like part of an extended family when you go to Strictly Bicycles but now I feel even closer. While they do have a wide selection of bicycles, they are all too expensive and out of my price range. Same goes for the kits. They aren't my local bike shop. As a result, I don't frequent them, although I do ride by pretty regularly. I haven't tried their coffee or expresso, but I know they have. I went there once, per the instructions of my wrench, to pick up a part for my BMC (a screw in the seat-clamp had stripped) and they did not have it. Strictly has great selection of very high end and very expensive bicycles and clothing.if you are looking for deals not your place if you don't care about price this is your place. With regard to repairs I would keep away. I took my bike in for repair for my freewheel hub which they said needed to be replaced along with Barings at the time they said we only sell ceramic which cost $150 as apposed to $50. The next year I went back and with the same problem ( I have mavics) I was told the free wheel hub ha to be replaced again along with bearings.. This time they sold me metal bearings. Less tha a year later I had a problem with my cassette. I took it to a different bike shop and the opened up the free wheel and told me that who ever worked on it before never put back the gasket and that mavics have to be cleaned once a year.. Not replaced ( when the are not cleaned they screech) I since had a problem with my wheel which they told me I need a new one he so happened to have a new one in stock for $900 .. My other shop they tightened and lubed the nipples.. Good as new. I had them install a cadence sensor and they told me it wasn't working and I should buy a new one ( I just got this from a friend that barely used it. ) inoticed the battery was low on the computer I stopped by my other shop$4 and a new battery... Voila .. Working. My advise.. Find another shop for repair.. And if you use them... get a second opinion. read more

There is always a lot of people there, so they must be doing something right. None of the other bike shops Ive checked out are this busy. Staff doesn't know what bikes they have in stock, or could get. It took three visits to try the bike i wanted to see, first time i went was o a Sunday it was too packed, so I went back during the week on a rainy day, the staff was polite and tried to be helpful, they weren't that helpful but they tried (hence the second star). The bike I wanted to see was supposed to be built and ready on visit #3, and they offered for me to try another customers similar bike who happened to be in the store the same time I was. Prices are above average.They do sell shirts with the store's name on it, and they sell espresso shots and coffee so if you like that, it's a great place to buy a bike. This is sort of place to go to for high end road bikes, Or hang out with other people who did. read more

i don't know a lot about bikes but i know when I'm being treated poorly. I came in because my rear tire was shot. i came in for a temporary fix but it was very obvious he was trying to make me buy two brand new wheels from him. Anyways, to make sure it was safe to ride, i asked him if I could ride it. He said he would not ride it and looked at his friend and said "it's garbage". Very obviously trying to pressure me into getting new wheels. Absolutely abysmal customer service. If you new to bikes, do not expect good service here. They are nice to the people they made relationships with and are not interested in people who are not in their "bike club". They will take advantage of your lack of knowledge and go out of their way to make a profit off of you. read more

Went in with my friend to get a seat, a seat post, a valve adapter, and a lock. We Waited politely for about 10 minutes to be acknowledged. The guy at the counter asked me what I wanted, and as soon as his buddy customer walked in, he blatantly ignored me and proceeded to help him. I waited another few minutes before realizing he had no interest in helping me, as I watched him and his buddy joke around about peeing in the sneaker he brought in to show him. I was pretty appalled at that point and we walked out disappointed at their negligence. Never coming back here again. read more

Simply tired of back and forth of pretentious conversations about "priding themselves on customer relationships", but still compelled to let others know about my poor experience. On a second-chance business, I took in my bike for a crank swap. I just cannot believe 3 consecutive reps quoted me $50 for the task. In the end, I received an elaborate, after-the-fact explanation of why an extensive $50 service might be warranted and a thorough cleansing of the bearings sealed inside bottom-bracket is definitely needed. In the end, the swap without the added-on service costed $15 and no more than a couple of minutes of the downstairs guy's time. read more

I've been to this shop about a dozen times and have never been asked if I needed help. Only reason I continue to go there is to see the equipment i'm interested in, in person, then I head over to Cosmic Wheel and have them order what I want. It's a cool store with plenty of displayed road bikes etc but I guess I dont look like a real biker or something. Six bikes purchases later, I wouldnt even buy a spare tubes from those guys. read more

Came in with my wife to purchase a bike and was told to "go upstairs and wait" with about 4 other couples standing around looking at each other. HORRENDOUS customer service. I don't know how they're rated #3 best shop. Def BS. If you're not an avid cyclist and don't know anything about the sport, they kind of brush you off. they'll start off by trying to make you feel special and important but honestly they're just doing that to get you out of the door and give more respect to those who are religious within the sport. it's all about making a final sale vs keeping a customer happy. Go somewhere else. they overcharge for the bicycles and justify it with their "free" fitting and "free" service up to 1 year. other bike shops in and out of NJ offer these services free unlimited times as long as the bike was originally purchased from that store. if you buy any gadgets and they install, make sure you get the original packaging. they "forget" to give it to you and when you go back asking for the missing parts that came with it they re charge you. read more

With the pandemic going on, I imagined it to be difficult to purchase a bike. I called ahead before coming to the shop, the guy on the phone was super sweet and said we can look on the website and also swing by. As we arrived, the guy at the cashier was nice - he then asked another gentleman to walk us to the hybrid bikes. Now this guy made a dirty look, scoffed, and turned around walking upstairs. He didn't introduce himself, ask us what we were interested in looking for, just saw two young girls and most likely assumed we would waste his time. I guess another guy who works there noticed us standing there a little confused, so he spoke up and said we can follow the guy up the stairs. As we followed he said here are the hybrid bikes, without giving us information. He just wanted to walk away and leave us. I asked him what the price range was and he loudly said $1200. I asked if there were bikes available for 400-500 when he rudely interrupted me and said NO. He spoke as if we were an inconvenience for him, said that we're not going to find anything less than $1000 here. I didn't want to waste the guy's time, that's why we called ahead but he made us feel really low. This worker can really use a communication course and just be more respectful of people who come in, even if we look different from their usual clientele. read more

I have been in here a few times and have found the staff to be friendly, helpful, accomodating and efficient. Although a previous reviewer was turned-off by the first floor with clothing and accessores, I was very happy to find one store that has everything I could possibly want for my bike or my ride for that day (sunbolck, cold drinks, free air, clean bathroom, etc.) when I walked in the door. The selection of bikes, bike accessories and women's clothing is better than any store I've been to in Manhattan. The mechanics work quickly to get you right back on the road and I recently purchased a custom-fit bike that I rode out of the store in less than 24 hours. I definitely recommend this shop for your everyday bicycle needs, repairs, or a new bike! read more

Friendly staff, top notch selection, and the perfect location for any bike ride headed along the NY/NJ 9W route. Bike pumps are ready outside and restrooms are available to all. There are plenty of bike racks along with indoor and outdoor seating. Any bike shop with a cafe inside has the right idea. I ride for two simple reasons, the guiltless consumption of pastries and socialization with good people. This is hands down the best and coolest LBS you can find. The staff are all friendly and make you feel welcomed, no matter how advanced a rider and enthusiast you are. The owner Nelson is also almost always there to greet and discuss your bike with you. I brought my sirrus elite in for a tune up and some adjustments. They handled everything perfectly and even made a few follow up adjustments for me just to be sure my bike was performing in tip top shape. Lifesavers! I was on 9W, about 8 miles north of the bridge on a very very hot day when I blew a tire. I then blew my spare tube and used all my CO2. I was stranded. I called Strictly and they were there within 15 minutes to pick me up (in a nice Mercedes). They took me back to the shop, new tire, new tubes, and some other random stuff I purchased, then I was back on the road. They were awesome and helpful. read more

Had a great experience with these guys today - on the way back to the city from a ride up to Piermont, I blew a spoke on the front wheel. Of course, I don't have a spoke wrench or anything to fix it myself. Thankfully with the help of my riding partner I was able to limp down to Strictly. Walk in, and 20 minutes later they had been able to true the wheel enough to stop it rubbing the fork. More than enough to get me home. On top of that, they didn't want to charge me. If you read my previous iteration, you are aware I was not happy with being sold an outdated helmet for above market value. Mike, one of the great employees at SB took the time to call me back concerning my complaint and explained it was very likely an issue with the distributor. Although I have no idea what actually happened, I greatly appreciate Mike's efforts in correcting the possible error. They have offered to replace the helmet which was damaged in an accident. Although I am not pleased with my initial experience, it is hard to fault a business that has employees who are willing to correct errors and mistakes. Bought a bike here when the store was still on Main street in Fort Lee. The store has since moved to Hudson Terrace/River Road. It is now in the best location it can be. The store has everything you could possibly need for cycling. If Nelson (the owner) doesn't have it, he can either get it or you really don't need it. The store features a juice bar with coffee, energy and fitness shakes which is a good thing because the store is located on the metro NY/NJ's most poular cycling route. I really like Strictly Bicycles. I have been riding bikes for over 35 years. I have lived in many cities in both the United States and Australia. Honestly I have not been to a better shop. Nelson and Joanna, the owners, are great people. They are honest and friendly. They have a real passion for cycling. Strictly is a big part of the NYC cycling community. The employees are nice and know their stuff. Many shops suffer from high floor staff turnover and inexperienced mechanics Strictly does not suffer this. It seems the employees are happy and they stay for years. The sign of great management. No problem is too complex for the mechanics. They care for bikes as they would their own. Very detailed service. No sloppy rush jobs here. Nothing better than a bike that works correctly the first time. The quality of bikes Strictly carries are excellent. The bikes are across all price points. Open up any cycling magazine. Strictly will probably carry any product in the magazine. The location is excellent. Long overdue review. Strictly Bicycles is simply an awesome bike shop. The staff and mechanics are all very knowledgable and the store has a nice inventory of higher-end bikes. This shop is the jumping-off-point for many Manhattan riders, which means a lot of riders milling about, but not buying anything. But the shop seems to encourage this and the atmosphere is amiable.
