My dear friend and I had spent a wonderful day of antiquing and made a stop at Forestwood Antiques. After shopping we wanted a small bite to eat since we were having a large dinner, so we stopped by Street's Fine Chicken, which was across the parking lot. Nice atmosphere, friendly counter service and the food spot on. I had the grilled chicken salad with cilantro vinaigrette and my friend had chicken tenders with apple slaw and green beans. I don't understand why this place makes it to the top of everyone's favorite fried chicken list. I hate to be "that person" but you can look at the chicken alone and tell its not going to be good. Its pretty, light in color, and not a speck of seasoning in sight. Round trip to YUCK-Ville. My last visit, I ordered the Double dark (2 quarter pieces), greens, mashed potatoes and gravy alongside a biscuit. YES to: biscuit, mashed potatoes, bread pudding sauce HELL NO to: chicken, greens, gravy, chickarones (I can't say anything about the bread pudding because they forgot to put it in my bag--super annoyed with that). The gravy was watery, the greens were super tough, and bitter and the chicken was just awful. I could taste the grease from the chicken and knew immediately it was old. THE CHICKARONES WERE GHASTLY REPULSIVE! MISS THEM ALL TOGETHER! The biscuit was soft and flakey; I used the bread pudding sauce for dipping and made for a yummy dessert. What a disappointment! I had not eaten since 9:30 Friday morning; and I was extremely hungry! Got home and I was disgusted of how the chicken looked. I ordered SIN KILLER PERI PERI; Their website says two pieces of thighs. No way! It was one thin piece that looked like a small thin breast! It looked nothing like the photo! The biscuit, which was wrapped in paper and was soaking up the sauce. The brussels sprouts were overloaded with vinegar and overly burnt! The restaurant smelled of urine and some of the tables had dishes from previous customers. Why I'm not sure, because there was one customer, no one in line, so it wasn't as if they were busy. In addition to disappointment in my order there wasn't any utensils and napkins! We're remodeling our kitchen, and everything is packed. I was at an antique mall and met a woman who had just eaten at Street Fine Chicken. She said she drives from 3 cities over to eat there and then come into the mall. It was her special treat. That peaked my interest, so me and my husband went there for lunch after that conversation. And it was very good! There is a quality about the food that separates it from other chicken places. There is praise on the walls in their restaurant about the humane care for the chickens served at their restaurant, and I appreciate that. The only critique I have is that their fries are too salty. We usually go to the Streets on Cedar Springs as it is a great place to have brunch after church on Sunday...close by. Today we tried out the one in North Dallas at Forest & Inwood...and was very pleasantly surprised! Let me start off my stating this location is really nice and clean with a nice dinner decor. Customer service was absolutely good, cashier was very pleasant and suggested different options based on what I was telling him I had a taste for. Their menu consists of fried or grilled, with an array of options for your sides to choose from. So, here's my honest opinion the Mac & cheese was good and the mash potatoes gave good ole grandma while to them very good. Biscuits came out hot and fresh and delicious. Actually, everything was made to order fresh so there will be a wait for your fried chicken . Street Bites were okay to me , came out fresh batter on both chicken and tenders is good, however once you get through that the chicken is okay. No taste to the chicken once you've gotten through the skin. I definitely wouldn't do the fried chicken again at all but would order the sides for sure. I'm going to give them a second try for the grill chicken and see if it has that flavor to it. I'm a fried chicken connoisseur and it's a no for me... looks amazing and comes out hot and fresh but very blend once you've gotten through bite it. Do not waste your time or money. When they 1st opened they were great. The past few times I've been very dissatisfied. I paid $25 for this meal delivered by DoorDash and it was awful. The food was lukewarm the biscuit took up most of the tray. Due to an episode of the outsider, I had a sudden urge to find a great fried chicken place. I'm in DFW, so my options aren't limited. That said, for our first stop on this fried chicken pilgrimage, we landed here at Street. Good reviews, found in multiple articles as being the best. The restaurant is simple, order at the counter. They offer brined chicken either roasted or fried, and we were there for fried, so that's what we went for. I got a quarter white, hubs had half a chicken, and my kid had a kids chicken sandwich. So here's the deal. The breading on the chicken is delicious, and you can taste that it is definitely brined, so, flavor through the entire piece. My chicken tasted great. But. When I chewed, the chicken did the squeaky thing that only dry chicken can do. I don't know how to explain it, the chicken looked juicy, but as I ventured further, I could see the meat was stringy and shreddy. So, definitely overdone. The brine gives it the illusion of being juicy, but it's actually not. From a sides perspective, the Mac and cheese had the same issue, it tasted good, but I might as well have had a can of chef boyardee because the noodles literally fell apart and you couldn't even pick them up with a fork. Zero stars for the Mac. Hubs had greens, and he said they were ok, but when I tried them, I didn't understand why they were sweet. That didn't seem normal to me. The biscuits really seemed like frozen biscuits, with some honey butter smeared on top. Mashed potatoes had way too many skins, but I guess at least they were rea and well seasoned. The gravy was very much not real gravy, most like something from a packet or a can. A lot of places do that though, and I don't think most people care. I, however, am a southern girl, and gravy matters. My daughters chicken sandwich was in a different breading, but she liked it. I selected the 1/4 chicken dark with the maple glazed Brussels sprouts and a biscuit for $8.95. My dining guest chose the 1/4 chicken white and green beans and a biscuit for $9.45. I read that they brine the chicken in herbes de provence. I love cooking with that herb so I was excited to try this chicken. The flavor of the chicken was excellent and it was nice and moist. The Brussels sprouts were excellent as was the biscuit. My only complaint was the amount of chicken I received in my meal. My 1/4 chicken dark was mostly bones! Four of us had lunch this week each had a different item and all agreed everything was very poor. the best thing we had was the deviled eggs and mac and cheese, other than that I'd be embarrassed to have my name associated with it. Although they provide large chicken portions, I was unimpressed that the turnip greens weren't in a full container. The container was small to begin with and only half loaded with turnip greens. I was absolutely impressed with the flavor of EVERYTHING!!! but come on guys - please don't be stingy with your sides! Was craving some good fried chicken because lately I've been let down by some of the newest chicken shops in DFW. Luck had me nearby the Forest Lane location, so I ordered a couple of pieces, along with deviled eggs, chickarones, biscuits, brussels, mac & cheese, and bread pudding. Mind you, I was looking for a light snack to go, but everything I spotted on the menu intrigued me, so I ended up with a heavier lunch than planned. Good thing the chicken was "fine": crispy battered, moist and well brined. The deviled eggs were tasty, but pickled just isn't my taste, and these were heavily flavored with pickle juice. I got a heaping portion of chickarones (which surprised me), and glad these were well dusted and seasoned, because the texture just seemed slightly flat and not crisp...maybe I waited too long on the drive to sample them? I was also craving honey butter biscuits, but Street's was just okay, likely because I needed more honey butter sweetness that day. The brussel sprouts were excellent, reminding me that pairing this veggie with maple syrup really makes the dish. Mac & cheese was also good, but perhaps I'm always fond of shells and the brie gave a nice salty punch. Bread pudding was a cold puck in a cup, that didn't soften when microwaved. Whiskey sauce helped a little, but I'm just not a fan of dense, dry bread pudding. Overall, good chicken and some noteworthy sides. read more

We order a kids meal with the chicken sandwich and a la carte fir the chicken, sides, etc. The jicama salad that I was looking forward to had big slivers of onion in it even after I asked if it had onions in it and being told no. The sandwich was big for a kids portion but since when do we not season our chicken? The Mac & cheese was another thing I was excited about (as im a Mac and cheese snob) however one bite and I was pushing that to the side. For the cost of the food I was expecting more but honestly I could have gotten better at a chain restaurant that sells honey butter biscuits. Winner, Winner, Chicken Dinner!!! Had an urge for some fried chicken tonight. I knew Street's was close by and headed over. Before going in, I checked them out on Yelp and reviewed their menu. I almost missed one of the best fried chicken meals I have ever eaten. There were so many wonderful options on the menu I missed seeing the fried chicken, twice. I was about to just settle with a burger next door, and out of nowhere a pic of a fried chicken meal popped right up. Sure enough, it was from Street's. Took another look at the menu and there was the gold, or should I say "golden" fried chicken I was searching for. Went right in and was in love at first sight. I was only going to order a leg and a thigh but goofed and the words "Double Dark" came out of my mouth without even realizing. Added fries as the side. When Pat brought the order to my table my eyes almost popped out of my head. I then realized I had ordered the Double. My good! (Did have to resort to a take home container, though as the portions were huge) I first went after the biscuit. Wow! The absolute best. Covered in honey butter and crispy on the outside, it was a perfect starter. Next came the chicken. It was still very hot from the fresh preparation. The golden crust was crispy, flavorful, and not an ounce of excess grease. The chicken was wonderfully cooked. Just right and seasoned perfectly. It must have been the 24-hour brine marinade. Loving it. I had full intention of the to go box for the second piece and that didn't completely happen. Just had to have the other thigh. The food was just so good. I did manage to save the second leg for later. The fries were good, and I think I'm gonna try either the Brie Mac and Cheese, mashed potatoes, or Black eyed peas on my next visit. (Yes, there will definitely be a second visit!) The icing on the cake is the above and beyond service from Pat. I truly value extreme ownership in every undertaking. For all I knew by Pat's demeanor and professionalism, he could have been the GM or Owner. The food was excellent, but the real reason I will be a frequent customer is because of the way Pat welcomed and treated me. I'm not one that thrives off of red meat. You'll rarely see a big hunk of red meat on my plate...maybe once in the proverbial blue moon. And sometimes, even a good catch of fish doesn't float my boat. But when it comes to chicken, I honestly could eat it most every night, if it's properly prepared. I don't know where my love of chicken came from. Maybe it's because my grandmother often prepared a big cast iron skillet of fried chicken, back in the days when we didn't think about fat and cholesterol clogging up our arteries and dispatching us to an early grave. Or perhaps, my life-long affair with chicken was a result of my encounter with the Colonel himself sitting at the next booth at a KFC when I was five-years-old. These days, my chicken choices are confined to joints that offer roasted chicken or as an integral part of a dish. No fried chicken any longer for me. (The worry about being dispatched to an early grave is now a real worry.) Not too long ago, on a search for roasted chicken, I stumbled across Street's Fine Chicken. While I would have preferred to visit the Cedar Springs location since, I believe, it has table service, I instead opted for quick and easy and called my orders in to the Forest Lane location. The Forest Lane location is a walk-up to the counter and order affair with some casual seating. So, it's not a joint for that big night on the town. (That is, unless you're going to follow your meal with a big night on the town.) To date, my orders, have all been the same...a half roasted chicken and a side of collard greens. (Yes, I can be predictably boring.) So I can't tell you anything about the fried chicken option, and other selections like the pot pie, meat loaf, and chicken fried steak. I've enjoyed my selections; however the last time, the chicken was just a tad too fall-off-the-bone moist for my preference, but it was otherwise flavorful and good. At this point, I'd predict that Street's is going to placed on my hallowed Chicken Rotation List. But next time up, the crystal ball is saying that the next chicken review will be from the Cedar Springs location. Anxious? read more

I've been here three times now over the past couple years (yesterday was 3rd visit). Their fried chicken & roasted chicken are both FANTASTIC and extremely well priced. Maybe best bang for your buck in Dallas for high quality fried chicken. Their whipped potatoes & gravy are excellent. Very good, crunchy fried chicken. We came for lunch on a Saturday and it was moderately busy. That being said, very nice service (order from the counter) and the food was brought out quickly. They did not have the brunch menu available...my wife, best friend and I were very disappointed because we caught an Uber from the airport just to try their chicken and waffles. So, what did we do? We called ahead spoke with the manager "James" to confirm they had brunch. We caught another Uber to the forest lane location after speaking with the James. When we arrived the setup was very different but we did not care. The staff were warm and welcoming. We ordered three chicken and waffles, fried green tomatoes, mimosas, and macaroons sandwiches. The fried chicken was unbelievably delicious!!! The crispness of the chicken skin, flavor and tenderness was worth the extra Uber rides. We're sitting in the back of our Uber now heading to the airport thinking of when the next time we'll return for some chicken and waffles!!
