House prime pastrami plate with fried okra.
    Lori S.

Last night we were actually, headed to another restaurant, but once, we arrived in the strip mall, Barrel & Bones caught my husband's eye. The restaurant wasn't too noisy and had a couple of different games on the TVs. The menu was fun, and we soon settled on our dinner choices: Spicy Pastrami Brisket for me and House Prime Pastrami for hubby. The sandwich was made with Sauerkraut, Jack Cheese, House Pickles, Alabama BBQ sauce on Texas Toast. I chose a caesar side salad as my side, and hubby's plate included Texas toast and his selected side of fried okra. These were so yummy. For me, fried okra can easily be a miss, but these were expertly done. They were hot, crispy and very light, not heavy, oily or slimy. The house pickled onions and cucumbers were tasty. My only complaint was that I could have had more Alabama white sauce on the side. The waiter was friendly, and funny. All the staff was attentive. I had asked for my side caesar to be lightly dressed and so when the server brought the plate out, he included a little extra caesar dressing in case he had dressed the salad too lightly. We enjoyed our evening, and while it was not the absolutely best brisket, we've had, it was definitely respectable and we enjoyed the evening.

Service was fast and great! The place was roomy and well decorated or at least the ambiance was just right for a perfect date night dinner out.. food was on point! Great portions, prices, and recommendations for both drinks and entrees from our server. Had a Garrisons Brothers shot and it was one of the smoothest shots taken, thanks to our bartenders recommendation. It is a $48 shot tho just y'all know. But it's well worth the quick but smooth taste. One personal recommendation would be the jalapeño bites or poppers, I forgot what they called it but here's a picture with my review ..hehe

Solid food. The Al Pastor taco was my favorite and then the Quesabrira was #2. The Chicken Tinga wasn't my favorite but still good. The Avocado Bomb was super flavorful and filling for sure. They have a large whiskey selection and a good selection of beer on tap. Staff was great, got right in at the bar and was taken care of the whole time. The place has a small restaurant/bar feel and was straightforward and simple. All in all a great place and it was worth the walk in 103F heat from the Hilton Lincoln Center, ~15 minutes.

The food is amazing. They have great value deals and super friendly staff, especially Zack. They should definitely be more busy than they are. Nice ambiance to come watch a game and have a few drinks and order dinner.

    Pitmaster sandwich

Came for lunch one day. Service was great. Ordered a half brisket grilled cheese and soup of the day which was brisket poblano. Soup was excellent. Brisket grilled cheese had good flavor but was delivered to table cold and the cheese had congealed. It was just ok. Husband got the Pitmaster sandwich. He liked it. Loved the homemade pickles. Thought they might be sweet which is not my favorite but they were just dill. Very tasty. BBQ sauce was a little too sweet for my liking but the only sauce I really like is Stubbs original so I just prefer a less sweet sauce. All in all looking forward to visiting again and trying something different.

Meal was great. Has the spicy pastrami sandwich and it didn't disappoint. Pastrami was very tender and tasty. Marc took good care of us.

You can tell they take pride in their BBQ; everything had that smoky, flavorful kick you hope for. I'm giving it 4 stars because while I appreciated the idea of an all day happy hour (huge plus), the execution fell a little short. They had a whole wall listing the options, but none of the usual go-tos like well drinks or anything comparable. The selection felt a bit too curated and didn't offer much range for casual drinkers or folks just wanting something simple. That said, I'll definitely be back to try more off the menu--just might skip the happy hour next time unless they expand the options.

But then we walked in... and were greeted by a faint, but very unfortunate odor. Not overpowering, but definitely lingering--like a bathroom situation gone mildly wrong. My favorite bar used to have this smell, and it turned out to be the pipes. And yeah, pipes are a pain to fix... but no one wants to eat while catching whiffs of mystery funk. We sat at the bar (no purse hooks, missed opportunity there), and I quickly realized I'd been to another location of this spot before. Hubbs and I split the fried green tomatoes with pimento cheese & burnt ends - a real winner!! Also we split a brisket sandwich with sausage, subbing loaded potatoes for fries. The sandwich and the potatoes were flavorful but the bun on the sandwich was cold like it came out of the fridge, and the potatoes could definitely have been hotter (they were slightly warm, but definitely not hot). Unfortunately, I'm just not the kind of gal who sends things back to the kitchen either, sooo... The real highlight? Denise, our awesome bartender. She was sweet, attentive, and had all the best recommendations. The locals clearly love her--she knew their orders before they even sat down. When we mentioned the smell, she claimed she didn't notice it but said it's likely the pipes and would pass it along to the owner. So here's the deal: the food is solid, the service is stellar... but dear owner, we know you know about this issue. Please, for the love of burnt ends and loaded potatoes, fix the pipes

I genuinely wish I had read the reviews before spending my time and money here. Let me start by…read moresaying this clearly: the staff themselves were NOT the problem. In fact, they were the only good part of my experience. The bartender took great care of me, and the KJ was friendly, welcoming, and made the night enjoyable. They seem like genuinely good people who are stuck in an environment that doesn't let them shine the way they deserve. Unfortunately, everything changed the moment the owner walked in. The atmosphere in the room shifted instantly -- you could literally feel it. His presence carried the exact same energy you'd see in a bad episode of Bar Rescue: arrogant, dismissive, and unnecessarily hostile. After seeing how he treated his own staff, I felt compelled to speak up because these employees deserve so much better. When I calmly tried to tell him how his behavior toward them came across, I was immediately surrounded by staff who looked ready to escalate the situation. I don't blame them -- it's their workplace and they were defending their boss -- but the whole thing felt unnecessarily tense and uncomfortable. And here's the thing: I'm not the only one saying this. Look at the other reviews. There's a clear pattern, and it's not coming from customers having a "one-off" bad night. This place has potential because of the people working there, but the owner's attitude creates a toxic environment that affects everyone -- staff and customers alike. My hope is that the owner either changes the way he treats people or that people are aware of what they're walking into. Again, to the staff: you are not the issue. You were the highlight of the night. To future customers: read the reviews and decide for yourself -- but personally, I won't be returning.
