I want to give a huge shout-out to Pierson at Ace Hardware in Ripon, CA. His customer service is truly exceptional -- the best I've experienced anywhere. He consistently goes above and beyond the call of duty, and it never goes unnoticed. Most recently, I called to ask if they had any recyclable boxes available since I'm moving in the area. Pierson took the time to get my information and personally made sure the receiving department would save boxes for me. He was incredibly thorough, thoughtful, and helpful from start to finish. I shop at this Ace often, and every single time I see Pierson, he's doing more than what his job title requires. He's proactive, professional, and genuinely cares about helping customers. He absolutely deserves a raise and would be a tremendous asset in a management role one day. read more

We moved to Ripon 21 years ago. Ripon Ace Hardware is our go to store for home projects. They're helpful, professional, knowledgable, and friendly. Great customer service. A shout out to these great employees, Pearson, Isias, Adam, Sharla, and Carrie. There's also a lady in the garden area who has given great advice and suggestions. Name unknown. Not certain of name spelling, but very certain of the quality service we receive every time we're in this store. Isias has assisted me with just about everything, but memorably a fob battery change. He's knowledgable and a good person. He wants to help. Adam helped with rodents. They've been gone for several years. Yesterday, it was Pearson who assisted with repairing the head of a child's riding unicorn horse. All of these employees are kind and so helpful. Ripon Ace Hardware is highly recommended by us. We appreciate this store. Not all ACE Hardware stores are like this one. Exceptional. read more

They have a racket going on at this store. Won't cut keys that are not purchased from them. Now not that big of a deal it would seem right? Wrong... they don't carry any keys that will actually A fit in my OEM dealer key fob nor do they have a key that will fit in my ignition and turn the car on, came in with a brand new key from dodge chrysler mopar and was told they won't touch it. Reason being they have had people complain that the key wasn't cut properly. How about you train your employees to do their job properly rather then punish the customers for your screw up. With the machine they use the only way the key wasn't cut right is user error, not the key you use. read more

Strand is the only local hardware store in Ripon. It is a good store if you need something quick for the house and do not want to drive to Modesto to bigger home improvement stores. Most of the time, I have no problem finding what I need. However, due to this stores size, they don't always have what I need which forces me to drive to Modesto. I have also found that a lot of times, I am paying for that convenience in money spent. So, if you don't mind driving to pay less, you might want to consider other options. A lot of things here are priced higher than the bigger stores. What you will receive here every time you visit is great customer service. There has never been a time I have visited the store and not received multiple offers of help from store employees. They have most of the things you would find in a home improvement store. They also sell outdoor furniture, Traeger smokers and accessories. They have an automatic knife sharpening station and they fill propane tanks. read more

I love this place... I drive over to ripon quite a bit just to shop here for all my BBQ and other items... Oh a wim I wanted a Blackstone grill to cook a nice huge breakfast this morning... I arrived 20min before they opened and they where gracious enough to let me me instead of having to wait. The prices are always great.... the service is impeccable..... I inherited a Big Green Egg smoker / bbq from my father. It has got to be 20+ years old. I have been restoring it with new parts etc. In the process I have also been buying all kinds of accessories etc. I purchased almost everything from this store including a couple special orders. The staff was very helpful and called me promptly when my orders arrived. The other day, I realized that one of the parts I bought was not compatible with one of the accessories I was going to use that day. I called the store and they had exactly what I needed on hand. After hearing of the nightmare I had with the Stockton (Ben Holt) Ace Hardware, Derrick made sure I had my Traeger Ironwood 885 secured before Memorial Day. There was an older gentleman that helped me out on the floor today but I didn't catch his name. I appreciated him going above and beyond to help. ACE is really "the place". My Orchard Hardware store in Manteca, is closing in a few weeks, so I figured that I had better look for another store where I can find my hardware items other than Home Depot. I visited Schemper's Ace Hardware this morning looking for some special wood stain. I was greeted by a friendly person at the door who directed me to the paint area of the store. As I was walking down the paint aisle I was again greeted by a middle-aged gentleman named Joe who asked if he could help me. I told him what I was looking for. Joe walked me over to the paint stain display where I found the exact product that I needed. Joe said that he would be happy to put the can in the shaker to get it ready for me. While in the shaker Joe gave me a can opener and two paint-stir sticks. Once finished Joe asked if there was anything else that I needed. I said no, and he then walked me over to the checkout register. He told me to have a great day and a great weekend. The girl at the checkout register was equally as friendly as Joe, and I sped through the checkout process very quickly. Overall, I am impressed with the friendliness of the employees at Schemper's. The store is large and well-stocked. I will definitely be a loyal customer of this store for my future hardware needs. read more

I have been shopping at this store for 24 years and have always been impressed with how friendly and helpful the employees were. I went in today for the last time. Long story short, only about half of the employees were wearing face masks (per the state order). When I tried to speak to Derek, who claimed to be the manager, about it, he refused to speak to me. He just stared at me with his bandana around his neck. I asked him if he had anything to say and he said no. Can't really think of a better hardware store in Northern California. Everyone that works there is friendly, helpful, and professional. They have a great selection of various wares for a store their size. Not to mention fair prices, this usually isn't the case for smaller shops due to their reduced buying power compared to the big box stores. They offer some tasty locally made pies as well. I really like small businesses, it's great to see people making it happen on their own. But when they team up with another small business, that's just awesome. I also like the fact that it is located in one of the best small towns I've been to. Ripon (pronounced Rippin) is worth the side trip. If you don't reside in the area that is. Awesome customer service from Chris. We drove to Schemper's Ace hardware to get the fire pit that was a really good deal. Everyone I came across greeted my wife and me. We were asked if we needed any help finding anything and it was meant not just rushing by meeting the rigmarole of having to greet guests, a real good feel from this store. I got my fire pit and Chris even loaded into my van for me. This Ace hardware really gets the customer service aspect, I would travel here again from Lathrop to get hardware items as they know how to treat their customers and make them feel like they care about their project and will try to find the item for you. Also a lot of really cool stuff like homemade jellies 5.99$ and homemade pies 12.99$ these are items locally made and not shipped from all over the world. I haven't been everywhere in the world, but I have a hard time believing any other store on earth has better customer service. From the minute you walk in, the girls greet you and always have a wave or high five for our 3-year-old and someone is always available to help you find what you need. Last week we were building a scarecrow and One of them walked around with me for 15 minutes while I kind of described what I was looking for. Who does that?! We've bought bbq's and power equipment here and they always offer to assemble and deliver it at no charge. They even fill equipment with gas and ensure it's working right before you leave. Who does that?! Even big box home store employees have told us that if they can't find something, check Schempers- and if Schempers doesn't have what you need, they'll order it. And they sell nail polish and pies. Who does that?! Long story short, we love this place. Their service and selection is second to none and they are the quintessential small town store. read more

Just wanted to say, awesome customer service! A few weeks ago I purchased a garden hose and unfortunately it failed. I didn't keep the sales receipt, and I knew they did not have to honor the warranty without it. I thought I would give it a try, and not only did they honor the warranty, but it was also on sale and I received money from the difference of the new purchase price. I explained that I only wanted to exchange it, but they insisted I keep the difference. I've been in sales for 35 years and that kind of customer service earns all my business. I literally was inside of the store for 1 minute and 45 seconds and came out with the individual nuts and bolts that I needed. If I were to go to any big box Home improvement store, this errand would have taken me at least 30 minutes to find all of the necessary hardware and staff to make sure I was getting the right thing. Schemper's Ace Hardware is by far the most helpful and friendly hardware store I have ever been to. You are always greeted by some helpful employee within 10 seconds of entering the door. The store is always kept clean and again there is always someone around to give you a hand. They also have some good coupon deals once in a while. Their prices can be slightly higher then the big box store; however, you wont find nearly the level of customer service at those type of places. read more
