The nursery doesn't look like the yelp pictures. Maybe they changed owners or it's stating up again. They mostly had fruit trees and nothing else. Some bare root trees and some potted. The staff were friendly. But not much of inventory. read more

For a "rain forest nursery" they have no tropical plants that grow in rain forests. Came looking for monsteras, pothos, bromeliads and the only thing they had was succulents and fruit trees. Pretty false advertising. read more

This place is great! In honor of Earth Month we decided to check out the Rain Forest Nursery and pick up a plant for our home. This nursery is well stocked with beautiful, well kept plants and trees as well as an imaginative selection of garden decor and a variety of fountains. They carry a broad selection, from plants that are indigenous to the area to exotic varieties that will need special attention, and there are new arrivals throughout each season. The staff is laid back and friendly too, and you can tell that they love what they do. I'm going back soon to pick up a Calathea Roseopicta. The Boston Fern (Nephrolepis Exaltata) that we got from them is thriving and beautiful and it has many fronds still unfurling. Can't wait to go back for some more plants and maybe even a little fountain. read more

Everything is great about this place and I'm really looking forward to them reopening soon(still trying to figure out where they are relocating). Any time we have visited this place, it's an experience, not just plants. It's easy to forget what you went there for as you become load in the landscape. Rain forest nursery is absolutely gorgeous. As you wander through the nursery, there's surprises at every corner. The serene pathways are filled with up cycled antiques and so many fun things to look at. Love turtles and koi around one corner, and a bird Avery around the next. Also, if you wander to the far back... you'll find a large tortoise and a bunch of friendly goats! The owner is super friendly and greeted us with a grin as we walked past. Their variety of plants is pretty impressive for this area. Vegetable garden starts, herbs, roses, shrubs, trees, succulents, various green house plants, and an entire new area dedicated to house plants. I scored the cutest little zebra plant, an aged terracotta pot, and some unique succulents to add to the collection! I have a feeling I'm going to become a regular here! read more

Went to Rain Forest couple days ago and spoken with Jonas, the owner in length about the plants I had questions on. End up buying two medium-sized plants from him and he showed and also helped me separate out my plants into different pots that I wanted since I haven't done that before. Great customer service! Check out this local plant store first instead of going to bigger chain ones. read more

I would love to know their secret to hiring great employees! Everyone is so friendly and helpful There is a small parking lot but plenty of street parking as well. They have a large variety of trees and plants, really something for everyone. They also have everything you need to be successsful - dirt, mulch, supplements, vitamins, planters, accessories and garden tools. Their trees are a good quality and they get regular shipments. If you are looking for something special, just ask. They will take your name and phone number and try to locate it for you. read more

I found this gem while visiting my mother. I have over 60 house plants, and I'm very experienced on how to care for them. I had purchased the last three variegated ficus triangularis, and was very excited to get them home. They have had the same amount of water and sun. Two of the plants are thriving. But one has been losing its leaves since I brought it home. The plant is obviously diseased. I called today to see if they could do anything for me (if i could return in this particular situation) and was told that once the plant leaves the store they are no longer responsible. Then the girl that answered the phone proceeded to try to school me and how to take care of plants. And that they might not be on the same watering cycle and I may have overwatered it or under watered it. I had to sit and listen to her before I told her that I would no longer be coming to the store. I understand if I killed this plant. But it's very obvious that I did not. On another note, all other nurseries that I go to, some being higher end and a lot more expensive, have a absolute wonderful customer service. If anything goes wrong with the plants, they take it back for a full refund. Regardless of what happened. I will no longer support this business. That's slimy and just a really bad way to run your business. Very disappointed. read more

This nursery is awesome! Jonathan and his team / family business located in Manteca was able to locate a Pudica / Mimosa plant for a special gift. I have been looking for this plant for 6 months with no luck or it was very expensive to ship. I've called them each month until they were able to locate this plant and they found some for me, as they said they would do on the request for supply demand. Another name for this plant is called the shine plant due to when you touch it the plant leaflets close and open up again after 5 minutes. The price for one plant was $10, man I hit the jackpot, let me order the whole tray since you guys went out of your way because the kid's school can have one in Botany class to study. I picked a really hot day to explore the nursery. Which was a shame because everywhere I loked, I saw something interesting. It probably bigercthancyou think. I didn't realize the space was so deep. They have a nice selection of everything you would expect from trees, to pots, to gardening tools and acessories, to both indoor and outdoor plants. It's clean and welcoming and the staff ( at least on the day I was there) is young and energetic. Recomended. read more

I had originally posted a review years ago but I was intimidated to remove my review by both the owner and a "friend" of his who harassed me over Yelp for a whole week before I blocked her. I said I would never go back here after my first terrible experience, but I decided to give them another chance. That's when the owner spotted me and said he wanted to "talk." I left instead. He had years to "talk" to me over Yelp but didn't. Instead, he tried to intimidate me in person. I felt bad and removed the review but honestly, looking at the other reviews, it wasn't just a fluke. If he likes you, he likes you. If he doesn't, you're on his black list for speaking the truth. SUMMARY OF OLD REVIEW: The short of it is, make sure you get charged the price listed and that they give you correct change. Friendly and great customer service! They are constantly smiling and greeting you each time. Every time I visited you can always count on Jonah, Kathy or the others to help you. Kathy helped me make some real life plant decisions :) You can either easily get what you need right away or get stuck there looking at everything. They have such a wide selection and if they don't have it they'll get it next week. This nursery is very organized and clean. They do a great job with maintaining it. Oh and you have to check out the birds! They also created a new section for the indoor plants. Tip: they provide plastic covering for your car. read more

What a beautiful nursery! We are currently exploring options on what trees and flowers to plant for our backyard project at the end of April, so we decided to visit the rain forest nursery. This place did not disappoint! We even came home with two indoor plants. They have so many great tree selections. I think it's helpful that they have tags on how tall the trees would grow (mature size). They even have signage of different fruits for different seasons. Their staff was super helpful and friendly. We've gone to a few nurseries before, and I must say this is my fave of all. Even my toddler loved it here. read more

Love this place! Just across from Kaiser where I work. Some days, I feel like leaving work early just to go visit all the beautiful plants and the birds...just to lift my spirits up. We purchased 20 Japanese boxwoods for hedging towards the entrance. We bought 4 out of the 6 that were available and the owner needed to order 16 more. The 16 arrived as promised, and they were full of life. Customer service was friendly, prompt, and genuine. It's no wonder they are always busy. This was the 1st nursery I've ever "purchased" from, as I've always been a cheapo and purchased from non-nurseries. Every time I've visited (so far 3-4 visits), staff has been very attentive and so friendly. My family and I enjoy seeing the bunnies, birds, goats & the tortoise :) I was hunting more low maintenance plants (ZZ's & smaller snake plants). Unfortunately they are all sold out, but the nice gal / cashier kindly took my info and will let me know when more come in. Oh, and of the 2 plants I have purchased, both were of pristine quality and didn't need to be quarantined when I brought them home. I will be back for more plant babies! read more

Owner is rude and a liar and doesn't know how to talk to customers. The owner was in store and lied to us that he is not the owner. I purchased a large order and they were asking me to pay around additional 50$ only for using credit card. California has a law, California Civil Code section 1748.1, that prohibits retailers from adding a surcharge when a consumer chooses to use a credit card instead of paying by cash. The owner wanted me to drive home and get the check or cash. I also asked if he could collect the cash or check when he comes to deliver goods. Zero flexibility. With no option left, I paid the extra $ and came home and gave a 3 * rating. I updated the STARS from 3 to 1, because the owner collected payments for goods and then 2 days later called and declined to deliver ONLY because I gave his nursery a rating of 3. read more

With COVID-19 happening I was really wanting to support a local nursery for my outdoor plants, by the attitude these people have I'll take my business to a big box store. *edit* I actually called several times all day. Spoke to someone in the morning, got told she was too busy with customers to check a price and to call back later. I called about 4 times after that. Left a voicemail before noon. Was on my way home at around 4:15, decided to call since it was about closing and maybe someone was free. Decided since your nursery is on my way home, I would swing by. Out of my window asked a gentleman what the hours were and that I've been trying to call all day to his response, very rudely was, were busy. I really enjoyed my visit here. Two gentlemen helped me when I needed help picking out my vegetable plants and getting a cart. There was a huge selection. I did however feel the young lady at the register was a little rude as she just seemed overall irritated and unpleasant.. maybe we didn't unload our cart quick enough or she was having a bad day. ‍ It made check out a bit uncomfortable. If you need plants, trees or just advice, this is the place to go! Jonas is about the best there is and I'm really, really picky! I gave him a list of must-have trees and shrubs and he found not only everything I wanted but so much more than I even knew existed. He and Ray (the miracle worker who did all the work) come back regularly to check on things and tweak what isn't working to Jonas' standards. Jonas is easy to work with, funny and an all around great person. You won't believe what he's made our yard look like until you see the photos I'm posting. We have people coming over on a regular basis to see our backyard. You cannot go wrong with Ran Forest and Jonas. If you go somewhere else, you will kick yourself for the rest of your life. I used to shop at another @big box store" for plants and such...and I swear I would pass by Rainforest every now and then, saying to myself" I'm gonna stop there one day"...Well finally, I did... and I'm so happy I did, cause after the first visit I came home and told my wife about it so emphatically, that she said," let's go have a look"... we walked out of there with a huge water fountain and various plants! This is my getaway once a week to see the different plants and succulents. I love this place, the staff is always friendly... I've never experienced anything bad from them, and the owner is always great to talk to. This is a great nursery to visit for all your plant and landscaping needs... knowledge help, and very friendly service... I started planting when I we bought a house in Lathrop. No plant ever survived under my watch lol! After 3 years, i have 3 citrus trees that are now baring fruits.
