Rain Forest Nursery is the cutest little nursery. I was looking to see if there were any nurseries near by where I lived (Tracy) and found Rain Forest in Manteca which isn't terribly far. I found the staff very friendly, a nice variety of plants and succulents. I loved how they also had a huge warehouse where you can buy bowls, plant decor, dirt, lotions/soaps, and outdoor wall decor. I more so went there to just browse but ended up leaving with a few plants, and a garden bowl. I felt their staff was very knowledgeable when asking about certain plants and caring for them. I felt the prices were reasonable, nothing that caught me by surprise. Rain Forest Nursery will definitely be my new go to nursery. If you haven't gone, It's worth checking out! read more

First I was over charged on a Magnolia tree, I was quoted for a 25" box $450 then charged $475 and I called another nursery after I had paid for my tree, the same tree was $295. I already paid and my tree was ordered. Ok my first mistake. I was given no information on how to care for my tree. They did not give me enough dirt to plant the tree, did not tell me how often to water, said it needed no vitamins, no B1 no master start. After it rapidly started dying I had to go to Morris Nursery to get help. It's been 3 weeks and my tree is finally showing signs of life agin. Do not go to this Nursery, drive to Riverbank and get top Knotch service from Morris Nursery. read more

Went there today and the LADY who works there was not wearing mask over her nose so I felt uncomfortable and asked her to cover her nose because we do not know if she is COVID carrier or not and can spread the VIRUS. She was SUPER RUDE and did not cover, refused to help me. Is the called customer service where people like her make customers feel unsafe. POOR SERVICE. Response by Rainforest is unacceptable because she wore her mask without covering her nose. Customers can see how you all at Rainforest treat customers and worry about customers safety. Your cameras can also show you that she was not covering her nose with mask. Her mask only covered her mouth. CDC protocol is to cover nose and mouth. As a business owner you should be aware of this thing. read more

The owners know into detail about every plant and helped me decide on plants and how to create them to be more unique. I was charged $7000 for landscaping beautification. When project was completed wasn't what what I expected. Probably $3000 worth work. It's a beautiful nursery, and I love the fact owner built a beautiful bird sanctuary. Must see! When I told the owner I was not happy with quality of plants, and entire landscaping work completed. I experienced horrendous treatment from the horticulturist here the other day. She treated me like I was an idiot, and her condescending tone and comments were noticed and very appalling. She told me I needed to have a yard plan, and scoffed and laughed at every question I had. I have a yard plan. I paid over $1600 for a landscape architect to design my yard. I was given a list of plants, and I had measurements. She told me every plant I was interested in wouldn't fit in my yard, that my plan was poorly designed, and they were out of every plant I inquired about. She told me she wouldn't sell me anything and wanted me to bring my design plans back before she would. Well, she sent me away and made $0 from me because she thought I was too stupid to be there apparently. I know I am new at gardening, I paid for a designer to help me, and spent weeks online researching lighting, seasons, planting zones, etc so I would have some knowledge. I went here looking for additional guidance and input, and what I got was shamed and mistreated for having questions. My advice...go elsewhere! I ended up at a Golden Valley Nursery in Tracy today that actually had every plant in stock (lots of them), and a nice man who gave me exactly the type of guidance, encouragement and input I was looking for. I explained the spacing I had for my gardens and he presented me option on top of the list of plants I had from my designer. read more

OMG where have you been all my life???I was in Manteca , feeling planty , and googled nursery's in Manteca.I was happily surprised when I pulled through the gates! Impressive fountains , beautiful outdoor topiary , ect ect. Then I went into their shop and honestly they just have anything you could want.From cute gifts , pots , speaking of pots!!!, OMG they have more pots than anyone around!, to all the best soils, plant foods , and some unusual plants that I haven't seen around this area ever! Depends on what you are looking for. Outdoor topiary is food. Indoor plants kind of slim. But plenty of inventory.

If you're having a bad day, come to this place, it will absolutely change your mood. I could fall asleep at one or more of the shaded areas at this place. The employees are phenomenally nice and helpful. Look no further. My wife and I suddenly regretted going to home depot gardens all these time. Their prices are way lower than the big stores too. My wife and I went there looking for some Alice du Pont Mandevilla vines of which they did not have any (as nobody in the surrounding area has and they are not available online either). We were driving past and saw this nursery and went in for the first time. They do have a very good selection of healthy plants. We ended up getting a tray of Ajuga groundcover. Thought I might be paying a little too much but they were so healthy I couldn't resist. A few days later I was at Home Depot and decided to check out their garden shop and see if they had any Ajuga. They had several trays that were not as healthy and actually would have cost more. Lesson learned! Rainforest Nursery will be my first choice going forward even though I live out of town. It is worth the drive. They people there were extremely knowledgeable and helpful. We had a very pleasant experience. Thank you Rain Forest Nursery!!! read more

Took my 93 year old grandma there recently to looks for some plants that she has been searching all over for, for several years without luck and she was beyond thrilled to finally find them at Rainforest Nursery. She just loved it there & being able to sit and watch their beautiful birds and see their very unique car & truck planters full of flowers/plants. A gem in little ol' Manteca! They have an array of houseplants, succulents, trees, vegetables, etc! Love the staff for being kind & helpful! Was able to find one of my wishlist plants (colocasia escuelenta "black magic") sitting in the greenhouse in the back! I also like to come by to see their house plant selection because they usually are in such amazing quality! In response to Carmela's review, learn to take a joke, or at least gain a sense of humor, at the very least. Jonas is a jokester and a family man, and his making jokes about Obama have absolutely nothing to do with his racial preference for anyone. He made the same joke with me, and I am not "African American." It's pretty sad when someone feels so completely self-conscious about themselves that they resort to using the race card. This nursery is wonderful, and that includes the selection as well as the ambience. Every time I have stopped in to either purchase some more plants/trees for my yard, or just simply to say hi to Jonas and the family, he has always been busy and surrounded by regulars who all seem to genuinely enjoy his company. My landscaper told me to come to this place to purchase a particular tree. He told me the price of the tree, and when I got to the store, the owner gave me an increased price. Now I know that landscapers get discount prices from establishments like these, but that wasn't the owner's reason for giving me an inflated price. He went on about how he has kids to raise, family to provide for, etc. In my opinion, that's not good reason to increase the price for some customers and not others. I'm not one to carelessly play the race or sex card, but after talking with him I began to consider the idea that I was being given the African-American price...or maybe the "female" price. After ringing up my purchase, he asked me to pay cash since "President Obama is going to take 3% if you pay by card." After that comment, I began to place some serious consideration on me being given the African-American price. Before I left, he mentioned President Obama again, and as I was leaving he exhaled with a smirk on his face, and told me he was going to check on his "Obamacare." Now I know I was initially given the African-American price. I didn't initiate any conversation about President Obama, and felt totally uncomfortable with him doing so, in that context. Anyway, that's my experience. Needless to say, I won't be back there. read more

Huge selection of healthy plants at a great price! I have been to this nursery a few times and have purchased plenty to help start and grow my Zen/tropical garden. In one of my visits I purchased a black bamboo in a 10-gal pot from Rainforest Nursery and requested Joel to divide and repot it. I ended up with 6 pots of bamboo, and plan on keeping them contained so I will be asking Joel to divide again when they're ready to be repotted. He's quite helpful and accommodating, and knowledgeable. And if I'm looking for a specific plant and he doesn't have it, he can find someone who does and try to get it in for me within the week. I am looking forward to the retail store that they're putting together in the property, as well as possibly two greenhouses full of succulents! Their plants are all healthy, and the layout of the nursery makes it fun and easy to stroll around to find what I am looking for. My son loves the fountains and birds/chicken coop on the property. read more

This place has a great selection of plants and the vibe there really does transport you to the rainforest in a way. The owner Jonás is very nice, energetic and extremely helpful. If you have a picture of your area to plant he has great ideas to fit your wants and needs. Prices are competitive and his plants are in very good shape. First things first. We needed help designing our landscape and Jonas is the best. After dealing with a bunch of "order takers" , it was a pleasure to find someone that could create a beautiful space. That said, one needs patience in dealing Jonas. He works on "HawaIian time" , showing up as he gets around to it. He wad even a week late collecting his final payment. Not only do they have plants that are not seen in other nurserys but the husband wife team owners are very very kind knowledgeable and the best ive seen in a very long time. Along with the great variety of plants and friendliness, they have two amazing tortoises in an open area that you and your children can interact with! And a small aviary. Amazing so with the sound of water features soft tasteful music throughout an Array of plants this is a wonderful place to relax amongst plants and even learn and share knowledge with the owners. Edit: 7/19/19 If I can give negative stars I would give the manager of this company a -5 stars. So after my post of the horrible service from the manager she came over on the first to give me a quote on my backyard. She called me a few days later say "she hasn't forgotten about me and was still working my quote." I went in on 7/18 to see what was going on with my quote. She was on lunch. I i left telling the young lady that ill be back. 5 minutes later I get a call from the manager telling me that she was there and i should have talked to her about the quote. Then I ask if the diagram of my backyard was ready. She proceeded to to lie to me telling me that, that was not what we agreed. That the $75 was only for to come out look at our back yard and to gives me cards of other different landscapers. I then told her what was said on the day I came in and asked for her services. Then asked for a refund. She said she would have to call the owner the Rainforest nursery for a refund. I said ok and that I would......she hung up in the middle of my sentence. So I came back an hour later for my refund. Right off the bat she was defensive. And basically said that I would have to return the next day to talk to the owner and he will be here at 830am. I asked for his phone number so I could talk to him she said no, I cant give out his number. I asked if she could call again she said no, she cannot disturb him when he us on a jobsite. I went in at 832am to talk with the owner. Guess what he was not there suprise, surprise. I again asked when he would return she didn't know. So I am here asking the owner to please call me or my wife. All I want is my money back and to resolve this issue. Well she did Horrible!! Made 2 appointments for a person to come out and look at my backyard for a quote. Both times the person didn't show up or call to reschedule. read more

She asked if we knew how to use them (it was our first time buying ladybugs) and she proceeded to give us detailed instructions on how to release them in our garden. I am so happy we stopped in and met Jonas! He was so sweet and knowledgeable. He say and listened to what we wanted and he gave us suggestions on how to do our planting properly. We bought a shade tree from him and came home to dog the hole to put it in. I couldn't get the water to drain so I went in the next day to see him and show him pictures and ask his advise. He told me how much further down I needed to dig and also what else I needed to do to make sure his tree survived. I will happily be going back In February to get a Granny Smith tree when he has them and many more! I highly recommend anyone to go and see him and pick his wonderful brain!
