I am so happy we stopped in and met Jonas! He was so sweet and knowledgeable. He say and listened to what we wanted and he gave us suggestions on how to do our planting properly. We bought a shade tree from him and came home to dog the hole to put it in. I couldn't get the water to drain so I went in the next day to see him and show him pictures and ask his advise. He told me how much further down I needed to dig and also what else I needed to do to make sure his tree survived. I will happily be going back In February to get a Granny Smith tree when he has them and many more! I highly recommend anyone to go and see him and pick his wonderful brain! Not a lot of selection for flowers and when you just show up, they escort you to all the plants. I was looking for a specific one which they did not have. Wish they had more selections and allowed you to browse. read more

They have every unique tree and bush you could ever find. So if you want to save money buying boring trees or bush, then go to Lowe's. We went here the other day looking for some Phormiums for our backyard. This review is mainly for the prices of the plants. The man that helped us was very nice and super knowledgeable. Customer service was great but he wanted $49 for 1 Phormium and we needed 2 of them. It was pretty pricey. We went to Stan and Bevs nursery also in Manteca and we got 2 for $29 each! I think this place needs more competitive pricing we won't be back. read more

LoVE this place. They have great plants on display, you can tell this guys loves what he does. When i had a problem with my plant i called him send him some pictures, he gave me some advise and was very very supportive, and full of knowledge to the needs of my plants i bought from him. It was better than kaiser advise line. I know when i buy from here iam getting the best. What an amazing place. Everyone who works here is so helpful and knowledgeable. It was a pleasure to come here and I can't wait to continue on my landscaping projects so I can return . They have a huge variety of plants to fit anyone's needs. I was able to have all my questions answered quickly and without confusion. Stopped by on a whim while visiting my parents. This place is great! The selection is wonderful and the layout is easy to navigate. They have two huge tortoises, birds, and a rabbit running around. This spring we made a medium size purchase of multiple plants including green bananas, red "lava" grasses, hibiscus shrub, day lillies, and more. I'd consider myself a intermediate grower and have purchased tropical breeds for the last 10+ years. I really like buying nursery plants vs local hardware stores typically for quality. The pricing at Rainforest was a bit high so I didn't get everything I wanted because my primary nursery prices were better. (Know your plants and what they're actually worth before buying) I'm newer to the area but I also know what will thrive in this zone vs what he's actually selling. I love the variety at Rainforest! I'm a little upset with the quality however. So far out of our purchase, 5 plants have completely died with 1 more looking like it's on its way out. We did have a VERY hot summer but these plants should've been fine. If the rating was based off variety it would be 5 star. My rating is based off quality so it's only 3 star in my book. I'll probably continue with my primary nursery but I'm a plant guy so I wanted to try Rainforest out. I hope this review helps other green thumbs out there! read more

I love this place! Normally, I get my vegetable plants at a bigger chain store in town and I count on several plants dying before the vegetables grow. This year for whatever reason I chose to check this place out. Everything I bought has thrived, my vegetable garden looks great and summer isn't even here yet. This place has the best product selection of anywhere around this area! The owner is so very knowledgeable. I come to him with a problem and he always has a good solution. I wanted a colorful and pretty yard and I got it. The prices are not the lowest but they are not extreme either. I went here last May and spent close to $600 on plants. I was pretty happy until August when both of my Japanese maples that i purchased, which I was told were perfectly fine to plant in full sun, were curling up and looking miserable. I went to the other nursery in town, Stan and Bev's, and the guy there told me that you cannot plant Japanese Maples in full Sun!! I was totally misinformed. Then come February, I noticed that all me Geraniums (which was told were perennials) were completely dead, never to return. After some research I learned that these are only perennials in zones 10 and 11! (NOT MANTECA) LIE #2. That's about $300 lost. So be careful, If you shop here do your research and don't trust what they tell you. (it was the shorted chubby-ish Kid that helped me). Also, I gave this same kid the name of some trees i wanted along with my number and asked him to call me to let me know if he could get them for me. He never called. I was very disappointed. read more
