Saw this place on Texas Hill Country reporter. I love a good drive in burger. Did a nice little drive out thru the hill country. Got there around 1230pm. Very busy. Would have gone in but had the dogs in tow. Wasn't too long a place opened up. 1/4 lb burger, Jack cheese, bacon and japos. Of course onion rings. Solid burger. OK, so Storm's used to RULE the small town Central Texas landscape well before the days of Sonic. So what happenned? On this particular day, the food was really off for us. While my Club sammy was very good - the nachos were acceptable, as were the tots. The hamburger = terrible. The THIN patty that was overcooked and just unacceptable. Store Manager; you have the technology - and you can do this. You need to keep your standards HIGH and expect more of your cooks - as the service with a smile can only take you so far. read more

Alright, now as a resident of this area I feel like I SHOULD love this place. BUT I don't. Don't get me wrong, i'll eat there if I must, but if I have a choice id rather eat down the street at mcds. This is one place you DO want to stop for take out if you find yourself in the area. Fresh burgers cooked properly and friendly service. Just ask anyone in the area where to find a good burger, they will most likely mention Storm's. I recently had the fish sandwich and was impressed. It came out piping hot on a nice roll and really hit the spot. I was actually watching the cook grill burgers outside on a charcoal grill! We go camping out here quite a bit but have never stopped to check out any restaurants in town. We had the dogs with us so we decided to find something local with a drive thru and Storm's seemed to fit the bill! I ordered the club sandwich with sweet potato fries and my fiancé got the fish and shrimp dinner with fries. My sandwich and fries were delicious, absolutely no complaints there, I would definitely recommend it if you're looking for something lighter than a burger. My fiancé wasn't too thrilled about his fish and shrimp meal though. The fish was very thin, overcooked, and had a funny flavor. The shrimp didn't taste like shrimp to him, the fries were cold and soggy, and the hush puppies were so burnt they were mostly black, he didn't touch those. I didn't try them myself since I'm allergic, but he's not usually one to complain. I reminded him that they are known for their burgers so we both decided we will definitely give them another chance and change our review accordingly. NO FACE MASKS...AGAIN!!!! EAT at YOUR OWN RISK I spoke with the manager about staff REFUSING to wear face masks and informed my server she needed to get a mask on and she smart mouthed me. She delivered my food with no mask. They are young and without supervision. The owner defended that his staff in the back did not wear masks when preparing food because it's hot. How about some sweAt and body fluids in the cold lettuce and condiments they are placing on your burger after they do what any human would do and wipe their forehead and nose off. He did say however. That they were supposed to wear their face masks when delivering food. I returned and AGAIN...and AGAIN my food was delivered to me by a long haired blonde girl (describing so if you care at all you know who she is) with no face mask!!! My girlfriend and I always stop here on the way home from camping in Colorado Bend State Park (we live in San Antonio). Not sure if it's just us being so hungry from hiking, the tradition, or what, but we love it every time we stop here. I've tried a different burger every time and have enjoyed them all. If you're looking for a sourdough burger that resembles the Jack in the Box sourdough burger, don't order their's. At Storm's the sourdough burger is more like a roll burger. You can't miss with the premium sides. Fried pickles, fried cheese, fried jalapenos. They are all good especially when you feel like you earned them with a 7 mile hike at CBSP. I sure wish they had one in San Antonio. Then again I may end up there too often to stay healthy. read more

That plus the servers are not well trained thus ignore their tables, even when they have no other tables-- I was a server and head of house for about a decade so it's obvious they need more training. As a burger joint there's not all that much to distinguish Storm's from a million others, although it does have that down home, locally owned, nostalgic burger joint feel to it. You can drive up, park under the awnings and order from your car, or be seated inside. It's NOT McDonald's which is distinction enough and a reason to recommend it to the burger & fries crowd. It's consistantly good but nothing to write home about. However I really appreciate their breakfasts. If you want a good satisfying breakfast selection of grits, eggs, omelets, biscuits, bagels, bacon, sausage and pancakes to start the day at a reasonable price, this is the place. A complimentary newspaper is provided, and the waitress will keep your coffee cup full without prompting. And if you need your breakfast to go, try their breakfast BLT, tacos and breakfast biscuits. Breakfast is served from 7 - 10:30am. It's every bit as good a breakfast as you would get at the infamous Bluebonnet Cafe in nearby Marble Falls (without having to endure the long lines). But of course they don't have those signature Bluebonnet pies... :^) Storm's in Burnet has a pleasant outdoor deck seating area, so if you prefer fresh air and/or like to take your dog along and kick back for a leisurely meal, sit out under the trees. Alright, went to Storms per "The Best Places to Grab a Burger in Texas" article, blog or whatever the hell its called. Storms is #2 on the list & a #1 disappointment. The Storm Special is a $6.99 half pounder with hand-cut fries but can be subbed for tater tots for a $.50 charge. I basically paid for a dozen or so Ore Ida tots. Add $1.69 for the small drink & I was out $9.94. The burger was 3 skinny ass pre-formed patties on a sad barely toasted bun with a hint (maybe) of mustard with a thin slice of a small tomato. Oh, wait, there were two slices of tomato. My mistake. They were cut so dang thin I missed the other one. Anyway, the bun was toasted but to no avail; hardly any taste to it. What it could've added to the burger was lost in the bun being so damn FLAT. My goodness, it reminded me of a panini. They don't serve those here, right? Ok, just checking. Just to remind me how sad looking was my burger I took photos but I can't seem to upload any to prove to y'all how bad was my experience. The only thing committed to memory is how BAD and emaciated the burger looked. Really?! Three thin patties? It eludes me how small places like this can make $$$ serving such drivel. Maybe it is as simple as "a lack of options" in the area. Either that or Central Texans have no idea what in the hell makes a great Classic burger. Along with Storm's I have paid a visit to Crow's Burger Shop in Belton so my opinion borders on the latter. My goodness, the attendant who took my order, when asked what makes this place so great replied, "Well, you're here because we're the BEST"! Like I said earlier - it's a lack of options. I previously reviewed the Lampasas franchise, so I won't repeat everything I said there, as the food was of similar quality. For northbound travelers on highway 281, I would go the extra 15 miles for the Lampasas location, as it is on the right-hand side of the highway and has more drive-in parking spaces. If you are traveling southbound or have a little more time to stop, then I definitely recommend the Burnet location. This store has an interior dining room that is finished-out for guests to enjoy, so it is not exclusively a drive-in. Fountain drinks always taste better with crushed ice. read more

This time I got the Cordon Bleu Burger and it was dry with no flavor. The patties were about two-thirds the size of the bun and they just looked really overdone. We went a couple of months ago, for the very last time. Only chance for me is to try the Lampasas location, as reviews, and fellow humans, inform me it is the better one. What I got, for the Storms Special, at almost 10 bucks, is just appalling. The 3 thin, dry overcooked patties were as tough as shoe leather. Don't know why they do that, speed, maybe, as I guess cooking a thick third-pound patty would take a minute or so longer. Visited on Saturday, 4/8/17. Had the Storm's Special (I think that's what it's called) which included a burger and fries. Burger was as good as I would expect and I was very happy with it. The fries were disappointing, under-cooked and the portion was surprisingly small, about what you'd get with a happy meal at McDonald's. Had to ask twice for the sweet tea to be refilled. It took a good 15-20 minutes. May seem like a small thing, but waiting that long for a drink in a fast food place seems a little long. Overall good and I would recommend to others, but come on Storm's why be so stingy on the fries and be sure the tea is topped off. Also got pooped on by the birds while enjoying my burger on the deck outside. That was actually a positive as we got a good laugh. read more

Cheeseburger was great, just drenched in mustard. Not even ketchup, just mustard. Luckily I don't have a problem with mustard but it was a bit bitter. Ordered the spicy chicken sandwich but it turns out it's just a McDonald's ground chicken patty drenched in franks red hot sauce and the bun was soggy from all the mayonnaise. My medium fry was less than a small fry at McDonald's and they were soggy and undercooked in a greasy pile. Couldn't even eat them. When I mentioned how long it had been the employee handing me my food simply said "well, it's been busy today" and they did not offer to give me a discount, let alone an apology. We stopped here after visiting Longhorn Caverns on Labor Day around 6pm. We didn't have internet, so we couldn't check Yelp first. This place is a greasy spoon. The sourdough burger bun was a bit too thick. I felt like it had more bread than meat. The fries were soggy. The cherry milkshake was good. The main reason for the one star was the condition of the dining area. It was filthy! We had to wipe down our own tables and there was a pile of crumbs all along the long bank of Windows which makes me question how often they clean. read more

Let me start by saying STORMS in burnet IS THE BOMB! I have experienced almost all Austin has to offer as far as local burger joints, fast food garbage, as well as food truck gems. I've passed by storms hundreds of times while visiting my extended family in Burnet and every single time i cruised by the burger establishment always wondering (aside from wondering why their sign resembles thunderclouds sub's sign) if storms was any good. after several years of driving by, unsure, i finally stopped.
