I first visited this restaurant 5 weeks ago and have been there almost twice a week since. Here's why; We sat down and ordered coffees that we slowly sipped to an old southern vibe, serving largely to a clientele of old regulars who clearly love the place. Our server, Cadence, connected to us and her other patrons very personally and individually steering us into breakfasts we thoroughly enjoyed. Our subsequent visits have not disappointed. I am newly obsessed with this spot. Get this. They have apple fritter french toast and cinnamon roll french toast....made of actual housemade fritters and rolls...not just with the flavors of them. They may still be good for breakfast but not so much for dinner anymore. Ordered at about 5:30. Already out of mashed potatoes and only had 1 dinner roll left in the cafe. The stuff they called gravy was more like dirty dish water. No consistency what so ever. Literally was almost a clear runny brown water. Not cream gravy at all. The name is a little scary and with the Halloween decorations made me wonder what I was entering. I will say this, my server was kind and cane back several times to check on me. Additionally, I received my food within 10 minutes after entering. My western omelet was huge and completely filling. It tasted good along with the sour dough toast. Server was great. Cook was pitiful! They put the wrong sauce on our appetizer, the chicken bites, server took it back, the cook washed the chicken and then smothered it in the correct sauce. Wife and I went for lunch on a very cold day....20 degrees....she had liver and onions and I had farmers omlette....unfortunately neither came out hot....omlette was supposed to have cheddar cheese but none was found....service was friendly and pretty good...demerits for no topo Chico and toast which came slathered with 'whipped butter' which appeared to be butter cut with crapola oil....food was barely tasty....they get points for breakfast served all day (until 4) and a broad and varied menu....this place is well known for house made pies and we didn't order that....they have done better on previous visits... read more

This was ridiculously over priced and NOT good. The ambience would lead you to believe that this is home style from scratch, it is all over processed and pre packaged. Anything that has been in the fryer tasted like rancid oil that hasn't been changed in quite sometime. The drinks weren't even palatable. I was only able to choke down half of my food because I was absolutely starving, didn't bother saying anything about the food because we were the only people there and it felt extremely awkward. The waitress did provide good service, but 2 sandwiches and 2 drinks should not have been over $40, and having to pay an extra charge for using a credit/debit card is ridiculous in this day and age. I always enjoy my visits to crazy gals Café in Burnet, Texas. The staff is friendly. The food is great. I usually order the chicken fried steak breakfast with eggs over easy and hashbrowns. Unfortunately, this is the only place in town that serves breakfast on Sunday morning. Terrible service, mediocre food. Over $61 for 3 people. If the service had been better, we might go back but it was horrible! Would not recommend at all! Took 45 minutes to get our food, 10 minutes to get silverware, rude waitress, all staff seem miserable. They were busy but you couldn't tell by the waitresses! If I could add a lower rating I would. Had a delivery out of town and stopped by this place for lunch with 2 co workers. I asked for the pot roast and mashed potatoes with NO gravy please and my other co worker asked for the chicken fried chicken as they advertised is "the best in town", and the lady said they didn't have any. Meanwhile it's 11:45am. So he substituted that for the meatloaf. When got our food approximately 18 min later , I received a Ruben sandwich with what looked to be extra gravy all over the plate. So I sat there while my coworkers ate and halfway through his meatloaf ( which looked liked prison food) he found a big hair. So when the lady came to check on us we told her the issue and she said in front of us and I quote " don't worry about the bill you guys." So we all finished our drink and walked back to our company truck. 25 min into our trip back to our work, my boss calls and asked if we dined and dashed because the manager said we did and they called the cops. Unbelievable. So us, as good people went back and confronted the lady in front of the manager and the manager had no idea she had said that and was trying to get us to pay full price. After going back and forth we ended up paying for the sides we ate and a drink. But you would think after their mistake they would be true to their word and comp the bill and learn from their mistake. Instead we wasted 45 min dining for food we barely touched and another 50 min having to drive back for 30 damn dollars. Manager Austin was trying to be a tuff guy and had no people skills and the lady was the only waitress in the whole thing and probably mistook my order for another tables. The fat cooks in the back need to wear hairnets to prevent this from happening again and the bathroom smells like they take smoke breaks in there. 0-10 would not ever recommend this place to anyone. read more

I wish you could give zero stars. To say the food was terrible would be too kind. The potatoes were instant and dry as can be. Zero flavor. The Crazy Gals chicken was dry without seasoning. The toppings on it were burnt. The kids quesadilla is literally a slice one slice of American cheese on a tortilla. For that slice of cheese and tortilla it was 7 dollars and it was inedible. 37 dollars for a kids meal and a terrible barely edible chicken breast with fake potatoes. Go anywhere else. read more

Went a few months ago and wanted to give a review... It's one of the only places open early on the weekend for breakfast in Burnet. Nothing really special about the food. Wanted scratch made gravy so that was a let down ! Biscuits weren't on point the day we visited. Tough and dense, tge effort was there for homemade it just didn't seem like the cooks best day. Portions were large. Prices were higher than expected. Waitress and staff very kind, generous, and attentive. Oh, don't skip the brownies that are for sale at the register ! Homemade and delicious. I won't lie I LOVE the food here, I adore waitress Deb, your cooks are good-take care of them they carry your place seriously. I will say we have been going here for years now and it's gotten hotter in here to the point if its above 50F outside we won't stop in. yalls prices have gone up so much and y'all want your staff to die while your customers sweat waiting for their food. how are y'all in the black with this mindset? you keep customers flooding in by offering amazing food at a fair price in am ambience they WANT to come into --NOT hotter than outside in the summer in texas! you also keep customers coming back by keeping good quality staff on by not making them gave heat stress or heat stroke from working in those temps. I honestly worry for your kitchen staff with those ovens and griddle on considering how hot the front end always is and the wait staff look like they are about to pass out locked inside the oven that is your building. shame on you! read more

We've passed by here so many times and we finally were able to try Crazy Gals Cafe today. We were immediately greeted & found a seat. Friendly & prompt service. My coffee was never empty! Very cute country decor with retro/antique kitchen items on the shelves. I had the #2 and My eggs, sausage & Texas size french toast were perfect. Large portions. Husband had biscuits & gravy and I snuck a bite. that's the best gravy I have ever had! I would love to come for lunch or dinner next time b/c they had a large selection. Wow!!! I dont know what to say, really. We have been going here for well over 10 years. Followed them to several locations, but tonight was horrendous!!! My mom got the chicken strip dinner, they were so tough that my husband could not cut them with a steak knife , which is shocking due to how thin they were. I got the chicken fried steak, that had to be the absolute worst one I have ever had. It was like eating battered, extremely thin leather. The gravy was basically white water, rolls weren't hot, mashed potatoes were meh. My husband's burger was fine. So sad, I guess we will stick to breakfast. read more

The table was dirty. But the worst was the food. The 'homemade toasted bun' for hamburger was hard, tough and did not even taste good. The meat was overcooked and dry. The 1 piece of lettuce was extremely wilted and unacceptable. Service was not very good. The cafe including furniture was not welcoming and looked old and tired. This place wasn't original on my list for lunch but I took a chance that they had and good salad and it ended up being great. I had the chef salad and everything was very fresh, not a piece of brown lettuce, the egg was boiled perfectly, and I feel like they make their own ranch. Great Hill county hole in the wall resturant. I had a huge omelette with all the meats, onions peppers and cheese that was very good with sour dough toast. It came with a little cup of cold bean salad which I thought unusual but a good counterpoint. My partner had huge banana pecan pancakes which he loved. I tried a bite and liked them. I will go again when I'm back this fall. PS the four working guys at the next table all had huge chicken fried steaks and eggs which they said were great. read more

The food was great. The staff has knowledge of service dogs and we're in NO WAY rude or hateful about my service dog! The staff also seems to get along well and work well together. My waitress (Misty) was knowledgeable about the menu and just as friendly as can be! My food came out quickly and exactly how I ordered it. I HIGHLY recommend this location over the Kingsland location, which is basically the opposite as described above for this location. I will drive right past the one in Kingsland every time to get to this one in Burnet!!! read more

We stopped in on our way to sweet berry farms. We were told to seat ourselves. We never had an actual "server". Someone came by to eventually get our drink order. We sat directly outside the kitchen And got to watch/hear the manager yell at the staff our entire visit. Said manager finally noticed we hadn't gotten food yet and took our order. 35 minutes to get some pancakes, a waffle and a breakfast taco. The girl who dropped off our meal went to get us syrup, mysteriously never returned. I can't for the life of me figure out why we must be so forgettable. Manager returned to the kitchen to start berating wait staff some more. Husband had to interrupt the powwow to get someone to cash us out, poor girl looked relieved. If you can get past all the yelling and the super long wait for food, knock yourself out. 2 stars only because the pancakes were yummy. read more

A couple of us was driving in after attending a beautiful wedding in the Hill Country when we decided to stop into Crazy Gal's Café for breakfast. Wow, you won't be disappointed. Let me put it this away, if you order your eggs "over medium" and the waiter/waitress asked you want that means, you'd better find another place to eat. My eggs came out great; I wished I'd taken a picture of the chicken fried steak I had. If you order it, bring an appetite, it was amazing but huge. Food was terrible. Overcooked meat, stale pancake mix (rubbery pancakes). Hamburger was WAY overcooked and the bun was hard. Fries were hard and cold when we our food. Servers weren't really paying attention to their customers. Had to get up from table twice to find our server sitting down bullshitting with other employees. Me and my wife were out doing some antique shopping so we dropped in. It was open so that's why we stopped. We stood in the entrance trying to get someone's attention to tell us if we seat ourselves or not. Finally a kind customer said, you seat yourself. I had got breakfast here visiting from San Marcos, Texas and it was actually pretty good, but man oh man the customer service was something else. First of all felt super hectic and unorganized. Our server was rude both in a physical manner and mentally. Not a very enjoyable environment to eat in. If you would like to see a reality tv show unfold in front of your eyes this place would be the place to go. With coworkers arguing loudly in front of guests, and one of the guests finding mold in the syrup and the employees not even really concerned, it really does make me question what else is just slid under the table here.
