I have been gong here since it was Hobo Junctioin in liberty hill. Since the new owners took over the breakfast has gone down hill. Ordering eggs over easy most time they are cooked way to long I even get them with the yolk broken and cooked hard. Before if a yolk was broken you were offered a new egg cooked just right. The ham portions have decreased by half and many times the bacon is crispy in the middle and the ends don't even look like they have hit the griddle. I have even had the home fries hard seemingly uncooked in the middle . Just as a note these things have happened when there are just a few of us there not like the cook was slammed with orders. Makes me wonder if it is a matter of skill experiance or just don't give a darn as far as the cooks are considered? read more

We ate lunch here today and it was absolutely worth the drive from Leander! So glad we decided to try something new. I had the small Chicken Fried Chicken (enough for two meals) with mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, and a side salad to start. Water was my drink of choice. My husband had the Chicken Fried Steak with fries and corn, along with an iced sweet tea and let me tell you, it's hard to find good sweet tea these days but they nailed it! He was thrilled with both his meal and his drink. Everything was delicious, comforting, and perfectly cooked. We saved and then shared some homemade banana pudding later in the evening to celebrate the Longhorns' win It was exactly what we needed! Returned for breakfast and was able to say it was good ! Not scratch made gravy, biscuits, or hash browns, but the portions were good sized and worth the $. The biscuit was fluffy and warm ! Best Little Mom & Pop Cafe in Central Texas This place opened up as a second location for the now defunct Hobo Junction Cafe in Liberty Hill who lost their lease. My family eats here multiple times weekly and the staff is always absolutely golden. Most of them have become our friends so a visit to The Junction Cafe for us is almost like family. It doesn't hurt that my Pastor's wife works there too. The owner and kitchen manager met in culinary school and the latter is a transplant from Louisiana so he brings a Creole perspective that is often quite evident in the specials and daily side dishes so the results are Emeril and your Grandma cranking it out bad there. It's so good it makes your tongue want to jump out of your mouth and slap your brains out. I can't say enough good about the place. I think I just talked myself into a Hobo Omelet, Hash Brown's and an English Muffin, crunchy from the griddle for breakfast today. Some others have complained about slow service but I only see this on really busy evenings and delays can occur any place that is packed wall to wall like this place on Friday Nights when they have their Catfish Special with all the sides and Fried Shrimp as an optional add on. Sometimes we can't get into the parking lot on Friday Evenings so we head across the street for some of the best Tex-Mex and the worst service you ever had but that is another restaurant review. Give The Junction Cafe a try. If it's breakfast or lunchtime ask for Jenny or Susan as servers, I love them both and there are none better! read more

What a great meal and service! I believe our servers were named Melody and Abbey, but don't hold me to it. They were so friendly and welcoming and the food was so tasty. We all had chicken fried steak smothered in gravy (AKA the soup of the day LOL). We had side salads, which were a nice mix of spring greens and not just your typical iceberg lettuce. Mashed potatoes were outstanding as were the green beans. We decided to get dessert, cause we're dessert people! All of them were great! We tried the Apple pie a la mode, cherry pie, and the chocolate pie. All amazing!!! It's a great place to cool off and eat after a long day. They have been in business for 27 years, and I see why! Junction cafe is not the typical spot that I would stop and eat at. But, my friends and I were hungry and needed some grub. So we took a risk and tried this cafe. I am not sure why the reviews are so low. This spot definitely deserves four stars. There is nothing fancy about this straight-up casual local neighborhood cafe. The place was clean and the service friendly. The menu offers your typical cafe comfort food options. I tried their cheeseburger (minus the bun) with sweet potato crinkle fries. The cheeseburger was a good solid average cheeseburger, but the sweet potato fries were epic! My friends kept stealing them from my plate. Incredible fries! You cannot beat the prices. Wife and I paid this establishment a visit on Sunday morning. There are not a whole lot of restaurants in the Liberty Hill/Bertram so I was really hoping this place would work out. The restaurant is located just off Highway 29 on the west side of the city so if you are not paying attention it's very easy to pass and miss it. They do have a sign posted on 29 however for me it was very difficult to read at 50 miles an hour. We arrived about 9:30 AM, they were not too busy, looked like mostly locals. We were call Bugg one of the waitresses to sit wherever we liked. Our drink orders are taken. I ordered a ham and cheese omelette, my wife ordered scrambled eggs with a pancake. Our food arrived very quickly. The omelette was cooked perfectly and the hashbrowns we're extremely good. My wife reported her scramble eggs were also fit perfectly in the pancake was giant. This is definitely a be back location and I can highly recommend giving it a try read more

Due to my being disabled It's been just over four years since I've been able to go out to eat. After driving me to get some lab work done at the doctor's my roommate asked me if I'd like to go get some breakfast. He let me choose between a Mexican place to the right and the Junction Cafe to the left. I chose left. After receiving a friendly welcome we were able to pick our own seats and we didn't have to wait long to be served. First off the coffee was excellent. Second, our food didn't take long to arrive and when it did it was fantastic. I had a giant Junction pancake (with melted peanut butter all throughout), eggs over easy, and sausage. Wow-the pancake was SO yummy! Light, fluffy, and more than thick enough to have enough left over for another meal later on at home. The eggs were cooked just right as were the sausage patties. In my 48 years, I've been to a lot of small, unassuming little eateries, and hands down this is one of the best.
