I try to support small businesses whenever possible as do my neighbors. Group of 10 went for breakfast and had called ahead to this restaurant. There was ample parking in a strip mall lot. Tables were pushed together to accommodate our group. No other customers. Inside decor was pleasant. There was a plastic basket with a few napkins and some unwrapped knives and forks on the tables. Seemed unsanitary. Everything became a process for us as patrons. Coffee cups were tiny and refills were not gotten unless requested. Then wait. Refilling at one end of the group of tables and passing refilled cups down the table was the process. . Had to request coffee creamer. The ordering at either end of the table by 2 waitresses. Food delivery was chaotic. One cook (owner) who made the food - about 2 entrees at a time. Servers came out with plates held up in the air that we had to figure out whose breakfast it was. Dysfunctional. Several were not quite right - meat, egg prep or potatoes vs fruit. Being respectful, ladies waited a bit to eat since not everyone was served. When it was clear food service was not going to make it possible for everyone to eat at the same time, those who had food were encouraged to eat while their food was at least warm. Servers didn't provide or offer syrup, butter and sufficient utensils. At least we were able to visit despite the chaos created by the inept servers. My meal was one of the last served and I'd lost interest. By this time - more than 30 minutes after first ones were delivered - I felt awkward then eating when others were long finished and ready to leave. Owner came out and apologized for service issues bc of hiring/training. Small business enigma. She was more focused on explaining buffet type meals offered on different days and catering ops. Time to go and no checks - individual or otherwise. Had to pay at a counter where the 2 servers stood trying to attribute their order tickets to each of us after we listed our order. Baked goods at the register but servers didn't try to promote. Issues with credit cards so most used cash. Sorry but I can't recommend. read more

I had the chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes and sweet corn omg was the only word I could think of after I had taken a forkful of everything, my husband had a cheese burger and what they call grilled potatoes omg the potatoes were seasoned well, he stated his burger was good as well. Well.... This one makes me a little sad. I had very high hopes for another dining option. We entered and sat down, and there were 4 other tables with guests in various stages of dining. Our waitress took our drink orders & brought them back, but then it took almost 30 min to take our orders. Then another 15-30 to be served. It was on a Wednesday around 1:00, so not exactly rush hour. The waitress was very young, and covering all the tables. She was definitely overwhelmed, but was very sweet. I think the kitchen may have been short handed too. I ordered a chicken fried steak sandwich that was supposed to be on Texas Toast. It was more like skinny sourdough. It was oily, tough, and generally not great. My friend ordered the hot ham & cheese stacker. It came without tomatoes, and had zero appeal on the plate. It looked like grocery store ham with a partially melted piece of American cheese on top. My other friend had the grilled shrimp tacos & was happy with those. We came here for Friday breakfast/lunch and definitely were in love at first bite! We had the Texas horseshoe burger with fried cabbage and Mac n cheese. Every bite was absolutely delicious! The seasonings are out of this world and the sauce on our burger still makes my mouth water remembering it! We had the additional pleasure of meeting the owner, Denay, who was so friendly that we felt even more at home. This is definitely a spot to come for some amazing home cooking! Keep in mind that in order to make this all so yummy, it is cooked when you order it so there may be a wait, but I'm telling you, this food is absolutely worth the wait! I really had high hopes for this restaurant and have heard wonderful things about it. We went in tonight and decided we probably won't be returning. The owner and the waitresses were very friendly and helpful but the whole process seemed disorganized. The drink selection is very minimal and what they did have was odd....like a key lime pie lemonade drink or green tea but not unsweetened tea. Then we got our food which looked good but you couldn't taste anything past the salt. My husband got the fried catfish and I got the chicken fried steak. I seriously still have a salty taste in my mouth and he said the same. The Mac and cheese was the best part of my meal....you could tell it was homemade. As far as the restaurant seating, it was different. A bunch of long folding table and folding chairs scattered around. All in all besides the Mac n cheese and complimentary brownies we weren't sold. I am not a coffee drinker- I asked for Diet Coke and the only drink option our server said they had was unsweetened tea because the night before was busy. I am not sure how a restaurant can have nothing but tea and coffee. The server did not advise us that we could order off the menu also- she only offered the limited buffet, which is 13.99 for about the same quality as a hotel breakfast. We later saw another waitress bringing menus and talking to her customers about all of the options. The sneeze guard is opaque- so you have to lean under it to see what is on the line, which completely defeats the purpose. I feel like we very much wasted $30 on breakfast and would never return. I haven't been to this location but had the pleasure of tasting a pecan pie tart at the Georgetown 4th of July celebration. Best I've ever eaten. Flaky crust. What a delicious place! We finally got a chance to give them a try, and the food is made with LOVE! I got chicken fried steak with cabbage and mac and cheese, and wife got chicken fried chicken with mashed potatoes and creamed corn. It was all phenomenal. I could literally eat an entire plate full of any of those 4 sides. They are all that great. The cabbage is sauted with bacon, the creamed corn is sweet (maybe has honey in it), mashed potatoes seasoned perfectly and covered in delicious gravy, and creamy cheesy mac. Wow. The CFS and CFC were dynamite. The chicken was so tender ya didn't need a knife. The steak was seasoned just right. Nice portion sizes, too. The menu has a lot of choices and we look forward to trying more and more. Got a couple desserts to go, peanut butter cheesecake and cherry tart. Look forward to giving them a try when I'm less full.
