I arrived here after a 3 hour car trip and accidentally stumbled across THE hidden gem of Burnet. This establishment is absolutely spectacular. My party was seated in a timely manner and our server, Michael, was a one man show. He was waiting tables, seating guests, helping at the mini candy shop, and I think once or twice I heard him in the kitchen ensuring orders were accurate. I-N-C-R-E-D-I-B-L-E. Staff aside, the food was also amazing. I ordered the cowboy chicken, and I am so serious, the entire thing was gone by the time Michael made it back just to see how everything was. So I was in town for training and a group of us went to Trailblazers because one of the guys said it was good. Looked it up and it looked great. Pictures looked really appetizing. Walked in and it was a nice little homie place pretty large dining area and had like a general store that served candy. Saw the menu the menu was large and had alot of great selections. Ordered the chickem fried steak and it came out looked pretty good.. Ate it and man it filled me up also had ordered the never ending chips and salsa. Let me tell you I dont know ow if it was the chickem fries steak or the salsa and chips cause it tore my stomach up. Funny thing getting to the end of the chicken fried steak and it smelled like fried fish! And tasted weird Any way I would maybe come back and try the Philly cheese steak or the burger. Great cafe in small town of Burnet. Lots of seating and they accommodated 42 of us on a ladies trip without notice. CR was our server and she did a great job getting our drinks out and taking our orders. Cook also did great as we got our meals within 10 minutes. The food was delicious! I had Chicken pot pie with a homemade crust and it was loaded with chicken as well as seasoned just perfectly. The burgers looked juicy and cooked to perfection. Sweet potato fries were tasty and fried okra was plentiful. Coffee and tea were perfect. The peach cobbler was served warm with frozen ice cream and that's worth the trip back. Emmalee from Junk Shop Adamsville recommended we try The Trailblazer Grille for lunch and she was spot on! The Chips and Homemade Salsa are really good with just enough "kick" to be noticed. We ordered the Avocado Chicken and a Lonesome Club sandwich with side salads. The salads were fresh and they make their own dressings and they were delicious. The club was solid and loved the use of a sweet ham and the aioli versus the standard mayo...perfect but get some extra on the side to really enjoy the flavors. This place is easy to access on the square. They can get packed on weekends. I've not had anything in there that wasn't great. I've eaten most the items on the menu. We went to Trailblazers Café in Burnet last night after the Bethlehem show. There were seven of us total (two families), and one of those seven was a baby. Unfortunately, the experience was very disappointing. The food was average at best, but the biggest issue was the service and billing. We split checks between two families, and the waitress was extremely evasive about showing us the itemized checks. When I was handed the iPad to pay, the first thing presented was the tip screen. My bill for four people was $103, so I added a $10 tip despite the poor service. After we finished and I asked for a receipt, I realized why she had avoided showing the check: an automatic gratuity had already been added. I unknowingly tipped on top of that. The automatic gratuity was $14, added without explanation or consent. When I brought this to the owner's attention, I was told that automatic gratuity is not added unless there are eight people or more--which makes no sense since we only had seven, including a baby. Nothing was done to correct the situation. Between the poor service, lack of transparency, and unwillingness to make it right, this was not a good experience. I wouldn't recommend this place. Honestly, Whataburger would've been a better choice. read more

Jessica deserves a raise. She handled a 23 top straight off the train with ease. Multiple tickets going and everything came out correct. We didn't want for anything. So where do I begin. We took the Austin Train from Cedar Park to Burnet. On the train website they recommended TBG. Recommended reservations so I called and got a reservation for two. We showed up about 15 mins after the train stopped and they had a table. That was 11:15a. The place was packed as a lot of others from the train went here as well. Ordered a glass of wine and a beer. Currently it is 12:05p and beer n wine gone and no food. Train leaves at 1:00p. Waitress said "it's gonna be a few more minutes as there are bigger orders ahead of us". Great. 12:10p and still no food. Mgr said it was on its way.12:15 got the food to go. We'll eat on the train. We wanted to spend some time in the town square. I'm so pissed. Mgmt knows what's coming and should be prepared. I guess since we don't live here and not a regular, oh well. No idea what the food is like. Kinda beside the point. So, tip, if you choose to eat here and are on the train, run, don't walk. And wife being in a wheelchair made that difficult. Ahhh read more

Traveled by train from the Austin Steam Train Association Museum in Cedar Park to the town of Burnet. There was a two hour layover, so we stopped by Trailblazer for lunch. It would rate 5 stars from me but for the terribly (glacially) slow interval between pacing the order and getting the food. 20 minutes is on the low side We recently waited over 30 minutes. We probably have eaten here 30 times since arriving in Burnet in 2018. There has never been an instance of even moderately fast service. Patrons will enjoy their meals and the moderate prices, friendly service, etc, but bring a good book to read while you're waiting. This restaurant was just amazing. The country ambience has that kind of "Cracker Barrel" feel with the little country store attached. The hostess was friendly and the waitress was just the sweetest person. But the best part was the food. I was impressed by the portion sizes but the food itself was very good. Tasted like it was made on site not just taken out of a package from a food distributor and heated up. The prices are about what you'd expect to pay, not cheap but not unreasonable either. I arrived for breakfast around 7:30am. I was quickly seated and asked for my beverage of choice. I chose ice water which was brought quickly along with a straw. I later decided on unsweetened tea. I chose to order the Main Street Omelet with sausage. When my meal was brought the cooks had included a couple massive pieces of bacon which I hadn't anticipated, but greatly appreciated. This review is after my second time coming here. Both times I've been here, I arrived around 12:30-1:00 and the restaurant was plenty busy both times. This doesn't disturb me one bit, it actually tells me that the food is worth coming in for! That couldn't be more true for Trailblazer . My first time here I had the smothered hamburger steak, I just had the chicken fried steak. Both dishes were very tasty and the portions were more than generous. In fact, this might have been the largest chicken fried steak I've ever seen! The service was great and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. Came here for lunch during the 2 hour break on the Austin Steam Train. As plenty of reviews have mentioned, highly recommend getting a reservation if you're doing the same. We had a pleasant experience having lunch here. The service was quite friendly, they seemed to turn tables over pretty quickly to accommodate the crowd on a relatively short visit to town. The food was nothing spectacular, but fills you up at a pretty good price point. The chicken pot pie seems to be their staple dish, I enjoyed it but certainly don't think it stood out quality wise compared to others I've had. For those taking the train I will warn it did take a while to prepare. Totally understandable, but you may want to steer clear if you want to prioritize any other activities in the area before going back. We saw other tables fully go through their meal much quicker than us who did not go the pot pie route. I had the quiche on the side with my pot pie. It was pretty dry and lacking in flavor, id recommend going for the more traditional southern comfort type of sides. It was a very soupy feeling day, but they unfortunately didn't have a soup of the day available. Overall, I think this spot is worth checking out if you're in town for the steam train and don't have other activities in Burnet that immediately catch your eye. On 2/19/2026 we arrived at the restaurant at approximately 3:30pm. We were greeted by a young gentleman and young lady. He advised that she was in her last day of training and would be attending us today. Both were very nice and done a good job. Our complaint is with the food. We have been here numerous times and have always been impressed with the food and service. After ordering, they left us and in a very short time, she returned with our Chicken Fried Steak with mashed potatoes and green beans. I commented about the short time span of food preparation. We were splitting the large CFS and we're disappointed that it was luke warm. We also found that the rest of the meal was also luke warm. We did not complain since she was training and was a very nice person. To top it off, we ordered peach cooler. It also was luke warm. First our appetizer, Cowboy Queso was really good. We had the grilled and fried catfish and both were great. Coleslaw and fries were just right, but hushpuppies were greasy and over cooked. We tried this place last summer for supper, mostly because we were wanting to try something different from Bluebonnet Café, we've lived in the Hill Country 40 years and though we really do like Bluebonnet, we wanted to try something a little less touristy and more relaxed as Bluebonnet's business has really grown especially in the last 7-8 years. Trailblazer cafe was a really nice surprise, they have a little store that has vintage candies in it, and the food was good, especially the homemade fried pies. The mark of a great restaurant is consistency. Although we have had 3 previous experiences that were excellent- sadly, that ended today. Service was horrible. We were ignored and had to ask to place our order, and it was not busy, nor was the restaurant short-staffed. The food tasted old- as if it had been reheated from earlier.
