Our waitress was Amanda and she was pleasant and helpful. She often returned to our table and wanted to know if we needed anything. The restaurant had a full bar and offered all varieties of liquor. We also saw an enclosed patio and courtyard with a bar and tables. Partially on green grass. A place was there for live music. My wife and I both ordered chicken fried steak with two big orders of French fries. This was for lunch and the orders of fries were large. The food arrived hot. We were given home made dinner rolls. The soft drinks that we got had free refills. The food arrived quickly. The bathroom was clean. The parking lot was large and it filled up by 12:30 PM. It seems that everyone wants to eat there and this was a Monday. We liked this meal. The price was reasonable and we will return, the next time we are in town. read more

Arrived at 12. They opened at 11 and were out of onion rings. Ordered a simple cheeseburger with grilled onions. Guess what I did not get? Hamburger patty was cooked beyond well. Our waitress was more concerned if she charged me. No offer to bring the grilled onions. Mac and cheese was my side and I had never had COLD Mac and cheese before. They did not bother to heat. Hubby had a horrible looking grilled chicken sandwich with the creamed corn. Also cold and def not tasty. I made a poor choice based on reviews. Do NOT STOP HERE BECAUSE ITS CONVENIENT. Well, there is a lot to be said for the name, it catches your attention for sure. My wife and I stopped there this past Friday after leaving the Lavender Festival in Blanco. The name caught our attention and so we stopped in to eat. Neither one of us was very hungry so we split the Pattie Melt and it was great, very tasty and cooked perfectly. On our return home trip to today from Georgetown we looked for something different to try, but some places weren't open so we headed back to Mamma's. A little more hungry this time I ordered the Chicken Fried Steak and my wife ordered a burger. The steak was over cooked and therefore "tough as a boot". Mamma obviously was not in the kitchen today. I could tell because the batter was past the golden brown stage and you could smell the grease. Feeling hopeful I cut the steak directly in half and the batter fell off the steak. It had shrunk to half its original size. I looked for our waitress but she was no where to be found. My wife's hamburger was the same, over cooked, even though they asked her how she wanted it cooked. FYI to mamma's cooks: Commercial fryers have a timer to prevent over frying. If you've been doing it awhile you can tell by site. About the service and this was noticeable on both visits. They don't team-wait helping each other out, this is a mistake. Our waitress on Friday and the one on Sunday was never present in checking in on us once they served the food. It's important to wait 3-5 minutes then check with your table to make sure the food is correct and the customer is happy. Team-waiting can help in curtailing issues. If your waitress happens to be too busy someone else should be aware and helping out. That's all I'm going to say. read more

We've been residents of a county over since 1996 and I can't tell you how many times we've passed this place but never stopped in! Tonight, we did. I had the grilled chicken with sweet potato fries. Husband had chicken friend steak, fried okra, and loaded baked potato. My chicken was so incredibly juicy and tender. I LOVED the crispiness of the sweet potato fries! Great little small town cafe. Was craving some pies after dinner and this did the job. They had multiple pies but we went with blueberry and whiskey pecan. We ordered for take out and they were very welcoming and kind in taking our order, giving us silverware and napkins. The pecan pie was great. Not overly sweet but just right. The blueberry did not taste like out of a can. Crust was great and not too doughy. They also made it warm so it was so good eating it fresh and hot. Nice local spot if you're in the area! read more

I was on my way to go camping when I got hungry. I found this random place in Burnet Tx and was excited to eat there. When I walked in a was greeted and walked to my seat. There, I had a very sweet waitress come and say hello. I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich with French fries. The only problem with that is the French fries were not as crispy as I wanted. It wasn't the most clean bathroom, but it was working correctly. Overall this place is reaching the limits of a classic American restaurant. read more

She even helped get my lunch partner a right sized meal by suggesting the smaller order of chicken tenders. I had the pulled pork sandwich special of the day with onion rings. The pork was tender and flavorful. The onion rings had a light crispy batter and were the perfect sized onions, not too thick and not too thin. We ate here once before a couple of years back and returned because of the great food we had then. Boy, things have changed! The prices are still OK, but the food was generally bland. The Chicken Tenders had no seasoning, so dipping them in the cream gravy was a prerequisite. The fried okra also had no seasoning. Mama's has absolutely amazing food! Everything we ate was delicious. We got the fried pickles as an appetizer to split and they were great. Served with a large side of yummy ranch and the breading was perfectly crispy. I got the pulled pork special and creamed corn as a side. Both were great. The rest of my group got a french dip with onion rings and a patty melt with coleslaw. Neither of them had complaints. The onion rings weren't anything special, just typical thick breaded rings. Other sides were better. only thing to note- service was very slow and our waitress kept getting side tracked with other tables. They are looking to hire according to the sign outside, but it still did take awhile to get our waters refilled, place our order, and get our check. would definitely recommend stopping in! read more

The chicken tenders are the best I've ever had. They are huge and juicy! I used to always get the honey mustard for dipping, but I think they changed the recipe in the past 6-9 months. It used to have a bite of horseradish but now it is meh. Anyway, their Italian green beans are also amazing. They are cooked with bacon! Yes, bacon! Yay!!!! Fantastic service!! I wish I would've gotten our server's name, but he was one of the few dude servers. Anyways, he was very attentive to our group!! We had just finished the Spartan Beast 10K Obstacle Race and one of our team members was having difficulties with his blood sugar, so we asked for "emergency bread" at least twice. Both times, our server quickly brought it to us along with anything else we needed.
