We stopped at Storm's for lunch coming through Burnet Easter Sunday. We had never eaten at a Storm's before. The food is pretty good. The cheese burger on a sourdough bun and it was very good, with the 1/3 pound Pattie and all the veggies. We ordered fresh cut fries and they were over done and had no seasoning. It's a drive in so there is no ambiance to speak of, but the food servers were friendly. One nice addition was an added outdoor area with tables and restrooms. More than just a burger joint. The burgers are great though! Almost got the special today, chicken fried steak and two sides. Instead got the quarter pounder with fries, both my wife and I. It was great. You come in, order, seat yourself or use the drive through or pull up to the outdoor eat in car kiosk and they will bring your food out to you. First visit to this location. Both ordered double cheeseburgers with grilled onions and shared a large French fry and unsweetened iced tea. The burgers were made fresh but very little grilled onions. Would have liked more grilled onions. Surprised at how thin the meat patties are but I understand it's their signature. The hand cut fries were very tasty - nicely cooked and seasoned with plenty of ketchup provided. Unsweetened tea seemed fresh rather than from a soda gun so nice flavor. Ordered a quarter pound cheese burger with jalapeños, fries, and a small chocolate malt. The malt was generously-sized for a "small" and very tasty, The fries were crunchy but good. The burger was overcooked but the veggies and fixings were awesome... just an old fashioned griddle-fried mustard burger, basically. I noticed that service was slow but not tragically so. Driving into Burnet in Hwy 29 I saw your billboard advertising over 70+ years of service. I figured if they've been around that long, they must be doing something right, so I ordered some takeout. I'm disappointed on a couple of counts. First, the online menu as well as the one inside at the counter are wrong. I wanted a lemon pie, but I was told that you no longer serve that. Next, the CFS dinner was messily packed. There was gravy on the top and bottom of the container and that made a mess on the plastic bag. That included the handle so it got on my hand as I picked it up. The taste of the food was good, but overall it wasn't a good experience. read more

Storms is a definite stop on the way too and from if you end of being in the vicinity of this place! So much flavor. Fries were great and I asked for a drink and got a BUCKET of doctor pepper. I wanted to like this more as we had been to another location that was very good. This time tho the service was just ok. It was hard to speak over the intercom and she could not hear us well. For some reason, we got two bills for our meal instead of one check. My fries were salted into oblivion and I had no sauce on my burger...being in a lettuce wrap doesn't mean to omit the condiments. Our specialty gouda burgers had no cheese or grilled onions. After I showed the employee my burger, he wanted to see my receipt before he would do anything about it. He said that he would bring out the cheese for us, but never did, even after reminding him as he walked by. They left off the grilled onions, too, and didn't apologize or offer to fix it. I ordered a club with cheese, fries and a drink. The bacon was so old, like it had been cooked in the morning and just out all day. The lettuce was wilted looked old as well. Fries were definitely NOT FRESH. They didn't put any salad dressing or Mayo on it, we had to call back and ask for it since I was eating in the car. Super skimpy on the amount of ingredients.The Club sandwich was not cut in half, so weird I've never had a club that wasn't at least cut in half. DO NOT EAT HERE, SUPER DISAPPOINTED. We went here because from where we live it's closer BUT Lampassas Storms is a million times better. If I could give it a zero I would. I have gone to this establishment for the past 10 years but this waitress should not be working for this business . What really irritates me is that I gave her a 20% tip before this happened. Been here a few times over the years when we come back to Texas visiting family. It's one of those have to go to places as it brings back all the memories. The food is just ok but they have a few items that different you usually can't get at a fast food burger joint and they have a wide selection of sides so everyone can get something they want beyond fries. This is an advantage cause their burgers are simple just ok. Wife explained it's their style to give you a what I call a smashed down bun and burger but to me it just feels like it sat for a while before they served or to you. Car hops are cool and their patio area is a nice setting for the family to gather and eat as a group. Also a nice added feature. We'll be back every time we visit, not so much the food but because it's what we do. read more

Well-when something is good for years and years-when you go back on the fly it can be very disappointing. Lucky for me, that was not the case with Storms. They have a great history and have been operating in the Burnet area for many years. When we moved to Burnet in 1981 they were not there but arrived in 1984. When we left in 1989 they were still there, the thing is they had been open and serving customers long before we ever moved into the community in 1981. They actually served many that rode the stagecoaches in Texas. Their first property-was not the Burnet location! I had a western burger with a nice juicy burger patty never frozen, cooked on a flat top, topped with cheddar cheese, bacon and smoky barbecue sauce! Delicious! I also had an order of hand cut fries. There's just something about it when they're freshly cut and thrown into the fryer and then salted immediately when removed that makes the inside just as tender as can be and the outside salty and crispy, no greasy feeling or taste here!!! Take a look at the menu, yes you can read it right from the driver seat. Press the button on that old speaker system which still works like a charm and Storms comes to the rescue! They have all the standard drive up fare-and the menu is pretty extensive so everybody in the family from your toddler to great grandma will find something delicious to eat. I took some photos including a shot of the story of Storms history and their Menu Board so take a look, read the history- it's truly incredible, and drive on out to check them out! Kind of an old place. Heck I was a car hop here in 1972/3!!! back then it was called Buster's Dairy Cream. OMG that was a long time ago. They had pool tables and the best burgers for miles. Mrs Farris left the back door to the grill open and teenaged would file through to get to the front. It was the hotspot turn around at the north end of town. Roller skates were used back then by some of us. Storms carried on the tradition and the burgers taste the same! Hand cut fries are really good. Just an all around good hamburger joint! I can't even imagine how many hamburgers have been cooked in that building! Let's see 53 years at least! at say 250 a day for 53 years: that's 4,750,650 burgers at least and that's prob a conservative figure. read more

We LOVE STORMS! It is a local favorite. It's like the county version of Sonic and burgers are made with 100% TEXAN BEEF. You can get fried okra, fried mushrooms, fried pickles, chicken fried steak, and even a catfish platter. My favorite is the steak finger basket- it's like a chicken fried steak cut into strips. If you read other posts and are worried about soggy fries, get the sweet potato fries, they are always perfect! Too cold inside? lol then stay in your car or sit outside where it's 100 degrees or you can control the temperature. You can also get mayo or mustard on the side, instead of on your burger. Idk why anyone would trash talk this small business about these little things then go to McDonald's??? It's like overrated definitely that's the word I'm looking for overrated you go in the dining room looks like it's I don't know ragged I guess the employees are nice the coffee was old and yucky their breakfast tacos are right on the mark but I wasn't impressed with their hamburgers they got a really large menu but I don't think I'll be going back. I mean how hard is it to make a fresh pot of coffee I bought two cups of coffee one for me one for my husband come to find out that coffee must have been sitting there since 6:00 in the morning and it was already like 11:30 12:00 in the afternoon it was old and burnt and still like yucky coffee if you can do coffee right you can't get a cheeseburger right and your dining room looks shabby and run down and yeah whatever interest your own risk but for those outrageous prices I expected more. read more

Our first time in after hearing lots of great things from locals. We chose to dine in (all of the drive-in spots were taken). The dining room was bright, clean, and uncrowded at 3:30pm. The food came out quickly and everything was very hot except the sweet potato fries. The curly fries were described as spicy in the menu but were lightly seasoned and not spicy at all. The best side dish were the onion rings- very hot, nicely battered, with large tasty rings. My son had the double burger (patties are very thin- recommend the triple for big appetites). I had a grilled chicken sandwich. Both were prepared exactly as special- ordered and were delicious. My son went back for a root beer float, a specialty of Storm's, and he enjoyed its generous portion of soft-serve ice cream. My only disappointment is the prices- the burgers and sandwiches are ala carte, so with sides and fountain drinks our bill for two was $30 before the tip and float with no leftovers. At these prices, it will be a special treat to return, but we do look forward to trying more of the menu options next time we are coming through Burnet. read more

Solid performance from a cheeky hole-in-the-wall burger joint. Plenty of parking, and plenty of seating for a decent crowd. Old-school touches included vending machines (and I think I noticed video games). The malts and shakes are great, and they are so thick that it may take a while to get it through your straw. There is an 'extra thick' option, which we guessed was solid ice cream. Use a spoon if you order the extra thick. French fries were basic, not too greasy, but not quite as crisp as I like. Condiments are in the dining area. The hamburger almost pushed Storm's to 4 stars! Three patties on a regular burger?! Wow! I wondered why she asked 'how many slices?' when I ordered cheese!
