Great cafe! I have had salads, homemade dry battered onion rings.. (not the carnival dipped kind traditional is best in my opinion*) and the burgers are delicious. Don't let the outside fool you, or even the inside. There's lots of stuff on the walls. Wacky country decor, but it makes for great conversation while you wait for food. Once food comes, silence will take over. I think the chicken fried steak could have been better, but yes, for the price and size, it hit the spot. The onion rings on the other hand are the biggest, bestest, and thickest I've ever heard of. They are super yummy. My mother in law said the burger was surprisingly really good. Wow, we were very happy we found Crazy Gal's which is a brightly colored establishment on Hwy 29 in Burnet. Not good for large groups but excellent for a couple or two. There are several booths and several tables. We called in to see if they were still service breakfast (it was after 11 AM) and was told, yes but no waffles grits or oatmeal, we are all out. Good coffee. I couldn't help but order waffles. She said no waffles. Then I said, how about oatmeal? None of that either. Then I said, Okay then I'll just have the grits. LOL I had such fun with that lady, she was a good sport about it. Hubs and I ordered a breakfast taco each. Trust me, all you will need is one. When it was delivered, it was HUGE and couldn't even close. It had to be eaten with knife and fork. The bacon in mine was amazing. The salsa the waitress brought is home made and perfect. All this for $5.50. I thought the prices were excellent and the quality and quantity of food was very good. I'd stick to breakfast and maybe lunch here and we will definitely be back. read more

Just went there for breakfast. Nice waitress came over and took my order. Place was empty except for two other couples. About 10 minutes later she walked into the kitchen and yelled "you know you have an order here??" Apparently hadn't started my order?? She decided this would be a good time to go outside and sit in her truck to smoke and use her phone. Really? About 15 mins later my food finally arrived over cooked and dried out. You would think that finding a good chicken fried steak in Burnet, Texas would be an easy deal; unfortunately not so. After visiting some local eateries in search of a good CFS, I was disappointed with 1) CFS served raw and bloody; a CFS which was cooked in oil which was WAY past its usable life, and a CFS which was a small island of gristly mystery meat surrounded by a sea of breading. At Crazy Gals, my quest came to fruition. The CFS at Crazy Gals was plenty big, although I did not opt for the large size. The meat was about 1/2" thick, and went all the way to the edge of the breading. It was tender, but not mushy, and the pepper gravy was excellent. Fries were really tasty... Seasoned but not overly so, with that just-right crispness. Go to Crazy Gals.....you'll be glad you did! read more

Let me see... Now, I have been here multiple times and I really don't know what to think of the place.. Decor is a bunch of random items. I always find myself playing I-SPY with whoever i'm there eating with. (REALLY) The Food isn't anything too special at all.. It is pretty much all fried. Their breakfast is delicious. I got their pancakes which were great. We also ordered a whole strawberry rhubarb pie which was terrific and really special since it's so unusual to find a place that sells anything with rhubarb (great fruit). The staff was very friendly and helpful. read more

My wife and I were camping at Inks Lake State Park for a few days last week and the weather wasn't great for cooking breakfast outside, so we ventured in to Burnet. We tried this place based off the yelp rating. After talking to the waitress, we settled on a #2 (pancakes, egg, bacon) and the chicken fried steak with homefries and eggs. The eggs were fine (kind of hard to mess up over-easy eggs) as was the bacon. The pancakes were unbelievable! Probably the best we've had anywhere, and we've had them at some great places. The chicken fried steak was great as well. The only downer for me was the "home fries", and especially since we requested "crispy". They are large chunks of potatoes that are fried. Upon getting them they were not only not crispy, but some appears to be not cooked all the way through. Overall however, the service, atmosphere and food were mostly great. We will be back if ever in the area again! read more

First stop on a girls day trip. Our waitress was super friendly and very efficient. We had breakfast. Food was quick and hot. The biscuits were fresh but the cream gravy had sausage patties cut up in bits in it instead of being crumbled. Could be the way I like it but it didn't add anything to the flavor of the gravy - just left it sort of bland. We all agreed the bacon was some of the best we had ever had. We split a pancake because we all like good pancakes. I asked if they were homemade and was told yes. Not real sure about that. I make mine from scratch so maybe I should have asked that instead of "homemade". We were each given a small sample of a cold bean salad which we all enjoyed. Stopped as a recommendation from Gwen at Willow Point Resort for a great local breakfast spot. She wasn't lying! Small town cafe feel, cute country chic decor and sweetest older waitresses who welcome you with a sweet "Morning y'all, whatcha drinkin this morning"? Atmosphere was very nice and comfy. Our drinks were great and our waitress did an excellent job of refilling our coffee. However, after an hour of sitting there visiting, we inquired about our food and were told that it had been lost in the kitchen. Our waitress offered to "turn it in RIGHT NOW". This is the second time I've gone there. I swore I wouldn't go back after the first time. I thought it couldn't be worse...But shame on me, and $38 down the drain later.... I was craving liver and onions. I know, some of you were forced to eat it as children and therefore cannot stand the mere mention of the two words together. When it finally arrives it is covered in tasteless brown gravy and soggy overcooked onions. All two baby pieces of liver. I try scraping the gravy off so I can taste the liver but it has absolutely no taste! Our waitress must have been related to Houdini, because after she gave us our food she disappeared until she thought we needed the check, which was conveniently about 15 before closing time. She could see I obviously hadn't eaten my food (okay, 1 bite) and didn't seem concerned. I asked her where the bread was that came with my meal and she said they ran out. (Do they EVER have bread? ) No discount for the missing bread and almost $3 for coffee that never got refilled. Sorry, I'm not going back again. Nope! Review from 05/17: Ate there two weeks ago. Here's my review: I had my heart set on a nice juicy steak. They don't have steaks. So, I got liver and onions. The liver and onions was good stuff but a small portion. Cole slaw-disgusting. Not tasteless but yucky-eww. The soft drink was disgusting as well, and I could not identify the flavor as anything from this planet. Daughter in law got the fish. A shark must have attacked it cuz it was the size of a small McDonald's meat patty. For $14. Forgot to bring our bread. We were unable to ask for any until after we were finished with the meal. Our waitress was MIA. Woulda been nice to have bread WITH the meal. Bill was over $32 for two people for a not so good​ dinner. After a weekend at the lake we were looking for a quick stop for good food that wasn't whataburger. We chose Crazy Girl's because it has great reviews. The restaurant itself is very cute but a little hot with everyone being so close together. Our service was a bit slow due to two cooks being out sick. I had the Reuben which was really good but kept falling a part. The fries were the best part but having to pay extra was not worth it! A friend an I met in Burnet for a golf outing and we're looking for some good local flavor for lunch. I have to admit, we were searching for bbq first, but every interesting bbq joint was closed in Monday's (?). Then noticed Country Gals Cafe on the search list and thought "with a name like that, we have to check it out. Maybe they'll have a good chicken fry". Sure enough, they did. It was the best chicken fried steak I have had in a long while. The real deal, served with mashed potatoes, good cream gravy and a choice of green beans, okra and a few others! Very friendly and fast service and got to hear about the white bass running on the lake from a regular customer.
