We dined tonight at the Prime steakhouse and had a fabulous time. They now offer different selections of the filet under the petite menu, which I enjoyed Oscar styled. While pricey, everything was presented beautifully and our server was fantastic. Tori recommended the dry aged steaks to my husband and he has never cleared his plate so fast. Baked potatoes are a little salty, but apparently are baked in a salt bath. Cocktail service was slower, but worth the wait. read more

We took a drive out to Kingsland based off a recommendation to check out Junction Prime (for a birthday) and am happy to report it was a wonderful experience. Nestled in a rather striking building, what awaited us was a wonderfully moody interior with large booths. Lots of tasteful touches and theming with a retro flair. We started with the bread (which was huge) and came with butter and roasted garlic bulbs. Also ordered the Caesar salad which was garlicky and improved with the grilled lemons and the calamari- Which tasted awesome with the aioli. Presentation was immaculate and the servers and restaurant managers were on point! They offered pleasant chat and stories. For entrees we got ribeyes (16oz!) Which was offered cut, Peter Luger style and split it. We ordered a ton of sides, and they were excellent. My favorites were the amazing truffle fries (generously thick cut, crispy) and the beets & cream (sweet and acidic) which complimented the steaks really well. The Brussels sprouts were excellent as well, not too sweet and roasted perfect. For the birthday the managers brought us complimentary desserts and a signed card which was a nice touch. Its not a cheap steakhouse by any means, but on average with any other steakhouse in this day and age. For how expensive this restaurants is you would think the kitchen would be able to read the servers instructions. The servers were very nice and fast but unfortunately multiple people at our table had incorrect orders come out where items were asked to be removed from their food and they were not taking out. When looking back at the receipt...the servers had put the order in correctly but it was not made correctly. The sides were very good but the chicken was gross and smelled slimey. I would recommend the steak or mac and cheese. If you have any accommodations (allergies etc) I would not recommend going here because the kitchen doesn't listen anyway. Amazing dining establishment and I highly recommend. I would give "five stars" but a couple of issues I'll address. I heard of this place from a friend and we were in the mood for trying a new place. Easy enough to make a reservation online. Not that much signage so we did end up driving past the first time. The outside is very appealing and the inside is just as beautiful. Unfortunately, they seem to be a bit understaffed. I'm assuming they have recently opened; when we walked in, there was a line of people waiting to get checked in and there seemed to only be one person to answer phones and check people in/seat the guests. She was very nice but seemed overwhelmed. When it came our turn to check in, we were informed our table hadn't been cleared. It was odd to see that she also had to clear, clean and set a table. We weren't sure if this was indicative of how the rest of the evening would go. We were seated in a large booth and they are quite spacious and comfortable. Nice solid table and right next to the bar. The whole restaurant even when full isn't too loud. Our server was fairly quick to come and ask for our drink orders. I wasn't sure if they would have what I wanted to drink, but it seems they have just about everything. So, whatever your favorite cocktail, I'm pretty sure you are going to find it here. Whenever trying a new place, we love to try as much as possible. So, for the Starters, we had the House Bread with whipped butter, the Charred Prawns and the Sashimi. Okay, the bread; it's good... if you like cold bread. It comes in a miniature skillet and while it looks quaint, it came out luke warm and was cold within minutes. They really need to just bring bread out in a warm basket and cover with hot napkins to keep the bread warm. Otherwise, I would pass on the bread because you just going to get cold bread. Speaking of cold, the Charred Prawns tasted as if they had been sitting for awhile before served to us. They weren't ice cold like cocktail shrimp, but they were very cold and almost undercooked. I would not order again. The Sashimi was tuna with coconut milk, peppers, cilantro and red onion. This was excellent and would surely order again. For dinner, we were all in the mood for steak so we all ordered the Filet medium rare and a side of béarnaise. For sides, we chose the Asparagus and Truffle Fries. Hands down, one of the BEST steaks I've ever had! All three of us had steaks that were not only cooked to perfection, but the quality of the beef was a quality that I've rarely enjoyed. Dip the meat in the béarnaise sauce and it was absolute heaven! The asparagus and truffle fries were also amazing. We were pretty full but still managed to sample the cheesecake and pecan pie, both of which were amazing. This is a restaurant I would expect to find downtown Austin. It's a beautiful place and quality food! I hope they will bring on at least a second hostess to avoid the long wait at the front and surely a busboy to clean, clear and set tables would be better than watching the hostess all dressed up in a spectacular dress cleaning tables. They absolutely need to invest in plate warmer. Getting cold bread and cold "charred" shrimp was a huge disappointment. Even the side dishes and steaks would have been nicer on hot/warmer plates. We even have plate warmers in our house and routinely serve meals on plates that are 180 degrees. If we can do in our home, certainly they can do in the restaurant. But there is no question, we will be back. Simply the best steak I have since moving to TX and we have dined in San Antonio, Dallas, Houston and Austin but this is the best steak. read more

When we walked into the building they refused us because we didn't have a reservation. I would understand this if it were full but majority of the seats are empty. Not to mention once we opened the reservation app/website it said that the reservations have to be made 2 hours before entering the building. Great experience overall. Sat on the converted patio during a thunderstorm and it was the coolest thing. Food was a little overly salty for me but still ate it all. The food is still decent. But for the price? There's been a change over in staff. But the one thing I can't understand is the place outside looks terrible. The grass is a foot high around the building, including all of the weeds. The parking lot has tons of weeds growing up between the rocks and the whole area to include Hoopers look run down with all of the weeds and grass. Sydney the bartender is top notch. My steak was so salty it was inedible and when redone it had no seasoning at all. If I am going to pay $50 or more for a steak I expect a fabulous steak! Also, no sides included in the price? We've been looking forward to trying out this place for a year now and finally were able to get a rsvp in their enclosed garden room. It is air conditioned but the flies were bad and the setting sun were blinding us - you sat at family style picnic tables and benches - not what we were expecting for a high end steak house. The bar area is very nice but our cocktails were pretty average. We ordered the most expensive steak which came back a little tough - the flavor was ok . The Cesar Salad was good and the loaded mash potatoes as well. Our waitress was pretty busy and we had to ask to have our water refilled a time or two. Food was amazing, ambiance is beautiful, quaint and lively! Grilled oysters were incredible both flavors, but the Cajun butter slightly beat out the rockafeller. The Caesar salad was flavorful but not too heavy of dressing which I love and prefer. Brussels sprouts lightly crispy but not greasy and the cranberry and Parmesan added a nice extra balance of flavor to the balsamic vinegar. Chicken Marsala was good and lightly crispy and moist. We ventured back to Junction Prime last night after a less than memorable experience not long after they first opened. In short, the food and the service have improved dramatically! Given the Austin-like prices, we expect a similar experience to similar restaurants there and that is what we got last night. Our server Cole was excellent! Very attentive but not overbearing and very knowledgeable about the menu and the wine list. Additionally, multiple servers assisted in delivering food and clearing plates. It was a very well-orchestrated experience. After salads, my wife had a filet, and I had the pork chop both of which were delicious. The only reason I am giving four stars vs. five is that we both ordered our entrees medium rare and both were cooked medium to medium well. Given that Junction Prime is promoted as a "prime steakhouse", I would think that they would be highly skilled in cooking their meats to order. They should err on the side of rare because you can always take it back to the grill for a minute or two. Once it's overcooked, there is no going back. That said, it's great to have a high-end dining option in the area. We will be back but will likely order our meats rare just in case. read more

WARNING an 8oz filet is now $85 and our menus said $49, online says $49. Just the steak, no bread, no sides which I understand in high end steakhouses and don't mind but not for $85. Reviews over the last six months certainly tell the story (sort the reviews by newest). Food and service has really declined and prices gone WAY up. We were there for a family birthday with 10 people. Requested patio were put in the dining room. Had to wait while they prepared a patio table. Steaks cold and not prepared as ordered, baked potatoes cold, cheeseburger blah. Also had higher hopes for this place being local and wanting a nicer and better option for dining. We have been many times but visit before this one I got violently ill from the scallops and emailed, they couldn't have cared less. Tried again sadly but won't go back at this point. read more

Having now read the reviews, I would have held firm to trying somewhere else to eat. My wife and I joined two other couples for a nice evening out. My wife had made the reservation which is something different from normal restaurants. This was our first time to try this restaurant. We had a nice booth in the main room close to the bar. For our drink order I noticed that they had an allocated bottle of Weller's so I ordered a double neat. When she came back with the rest of the drinks that had been ordered, she told me that there was only one pour left and it is an allocated bottle. Well Duh, I knew it was allocated, but she made no offer if I wanted the last pour. Strike 1. So I made it simple and ordered a beer. Others have mentioned the flies and they are not over stating the problem. One of our friends had a fly go into her wine after maybe taking one or two sips. It was immediately replaced. We continually throughout our entire meal made movements to move the flies away from our appetizers and food. From where we were seated, we could see the flies in the kitchen. As we were leaving my wife commented to the manager about the flies and she said that this had just happened and had no idea where they had come from. The highlight for the night was the food. The steaks were prepared perfectly and they were excellent. The fish was also prepared perfectly. The presentation on the plates was par of any high end restaurants. We were all pleased with our meals. Service, well it left a lot to be desired. Our server would just disappear to not be seen. We would have to ask another server to bring what we needed. At the end, we wanted to split the bill 3 ways, which has never been a problem at any of the other nice restaurants we frequent together. Our server immediately went up to the front and brought us this letter sized framed document and at the bottom in a smaller font was a statement saying that in an attempt to improve time, they would only split a bill two ways. This was never mentioned to us, and again this was our very first time to dine here. Her actions really upset our group, and my wife told the manager about this and that it wasn't appropriate or appreciated. Strike 2. There was a mandatory 20% tip for large groups. Trust me when I say that we have no issues tipping our servers and many times we will tip in excess of 20%. Our server didn't earn or deserve that kind of tip. This only promotes the poor service that we all experienced. Even though the food was excellent, the service and the flies are just too much to put up with when you pay the prices that are charged. Just left the restaurant after my daughters birthday diner and I am horrified. She always goes to high end restaurants and gives amazing tips. She still did this time too even though the meal was sub par and honestly horrible for 1000 dollars. She would have let it go and enjoyed her birthday if the staff and owners had not been rude and argumentative and they were. I am 81 and have never been spoken to that way. All the entrees were truly terrible. The hostess/owner was mean and unwilling to accept the facts.
