I went abroad this Semester and found that their service was efficient and the people who picked up my boxes were extremely nice! I had limited options since there are often more people who are willing to store over the summer, but I was satisfied with the in-room service and how quick everything was! I did have to wait about an hour into my allocated time slot, but for me, that was fine since they gave a window of time and arrived within that window of time. Practical advice for the storage process: - I recommend to people who are using this service to use their boxes that they provide so that they aren't able to argue about the prices of your items. - Don't be last minute (i.e. book the appointment right before your flight) - I wasn't able to carry my things out of my room (and I don't have an elevator), the in-room pick up is worth the $20 if you need it! I have yet to comment on receiving back my items which other people have talked about but will update that in the future.

This is my first review of anything in my life. The reason I took the time to write this review is because I believe that I was wrongly charged and Storage Squad is not giving me a good reason why. I wanted to store my mini fridge and I thought it would be considered a "Standard Item" according to Storage Squad's website. My fridge is 3.764 cu/ft and the Standard Items are considered anything that's 2-4 cu/ft. That being said, instead of being charged $37.00, I was charge $57.00. That might not seem like a lot, but for a university student who is going to use summer storage for many more years, the extra charge adds up. The only reasoning they gave was that "The standard cube fridges are the same height as a mega box." The Mega Box has the dimensions of 24 by 18 by 16. Through my research of different brands, I have not found a mini fridge with a height that short. Even when I asked them for an example of a fridge that can fit in the Mega Box, they simple said "A standard cube fridge would be one that would fit our mega box dimensions, 24 by 18 by 16." I understand that the boxes were designed to make the most profit, but I don't believe it is right to wrongly charge someone, especially since my mini fridge is considered a "Standard Item," and should be charged according to what they state on the website. Instead, my fridge was charged as an "XL Item," which makes no sense since XL Items are anything that's 5-7 cu/ft and my fridge is 3.764 cu/ft. They even said on their website under Storage Squad's Core Principles that they don't believe in "unfair fees." I am disappointed and for my first time using summer storage, this has created an unfavorable first impression. I would have let this go if they had given me a good reason. Even when I argued that my mini fridge is a "Standard Item" they literally copy and pasted a previous email and resent it to me. The reason I gave any star was because the people who picked up my items were polite. I will post another review when I receive my items after the summer and check in with my friends to see how their items were handled.

We use Storage Squad every year, and they do a wonderful job. The customer service is really good, and the prices are reasonable for a semester of storage. During one semester, I needed my stored items four days before Storage Squad officially began delivering, in order to move into my new apartment by their mandated time. When we emailed Storage Squad about our situation, they made an exception for us and were able to deliver our boxes to us. Easy website to use and friendly staff - I will definitely continue to use their service and recommend it to others.

Just some of the boxes they destroyed

Worst company I've ever dealt with. I'm not just talking about how late the moving truck was in coming to pick up my boxes (4 days late, right before my flight took off) or that they were 8 days late in moving my boxes to the destination ... OR that my boxes were all but destroyed. I am talking about basic communication skills. I kept trying to get a straight answer as to why my moving truck wasn't ready to pick up my items, but they kept putting me on hold, transferring me to someone that would never pick up, or basically lying to me. I would ask, "obviously you are running late, but can you tell me what day my moving truck will get here--?" And they would never respond with a clear answer... and that is because they are so incompetent that they themselves had NO IDEA. What a mess. Spend the extra money folks.

Shattered TV screen next to the box clearly labeled as fragile.

Large boxes. Reasonable price. Good Service. You can pay $15 for room service where they go up to your room and do all the heavy lifting.

The entire 2 day move was more stressful as a result of the services rendered by BSB. We have had expert movers move us across states so we are aware of what to expect and we communicated our needs clearly to the owner Eric and throughout the move. We even had to help and be a part of the move to get it done. Most of the crew did not follow our instructions or Eric's. Eric himself caused damages. The service was not as promised and definitely not expert, there was less care taken than we have experienced with day movers hired from UHaul. One item that was damaged was partially remedied with a good resolution but when I provided Eric the list of additional damages, including damages to the lawn, large ruts, and tried to work on a resolution to reimburse us for damages he showed up unannounced to our home with an officer. I was never provided the certificate of insurance which I requested prior to the move. I understand our move was complex but we were charged an additional $2,233. The discussion about damages went from civil to no discussion at all. The move was not complete after the 2 days and he promised to finish it on Saturday but he reneged and instead showed up with an officer and was not willing to discuss the damages.

I hired Zolar Moving to unload my rental truck in Ithaca on a Saturday at noon. By 1pm, I had left several unanswered phone calls at the only phone number I had for Zolar Moving (the one that is listed online) asking where their movers where. By 2pm, I had given up hope of them ever showing up and decided to go for a hike. They called me at 2:30pm saying they had just finished a job and were ready to head over to my apartment. No sign of apology for being 2.5 hours late and failing to return any of my calls. In fact, when I said I had just gone on a hike and might not be able to get back until 4pm, they told me they couldn't do that late and I'd have to wait until Monday. I decided it was better to unload the truck and abandoned my plans to hike. But they never apologized or remotely acted like they cared about me at all. I got back from the hike at the same time the movers showed up. A number of them were smoking cigarettes. The lead mover was particularly rude to me, my family, and the landlord (who happened to be there at the time). The movers punched a big hole in the wall of the entry hallway while trying to get the couch into the house. It was a tight fit, and there might be no way to get it in without damaging the wall somewhat. But the movers never showed any sign of remorse, only barely saying "our owner can fix this no problem". It sounded like this sort of thing happens a lot to Zolar Moving.

Unfortunately, this company does not work. My experience with Monica at Strong Hands LLC as well as Justin and Danielle from The Clean Team--has been a garish, Aligherian nightmare one that I imagine even Dante would've rejected. In the beginning, I was told that Strong Hands LLC's subsidiary, The Clean Team, would assist me with my move in three parts. Given my moving needs, I was told my move would require a "pre-clean" day, scheduled for Saturday February 11th, a "pack + move" scheduled for Monday, February 13th, and a "post move-out deep cleaning day" scheduled for Tuesday February 14th, 2023. We all reviewed the images of my studio and agreed to carry out the move over those three days. The contract was written by Strong Hands LLC and agreed to by me, the one who hired them. Nothing promised was delivered. Danielle did call me to let me know she was happy I had found another company to do the move so, should you also choose to look, elsewhere, your business will not be missed. I've attached photos of the apartment, the contract and communication indicating that there were no issues in moving forward with the move until it was time to actually do the job. Shame on you Strong Hands LLC and The Clean Team for refusing to do your job in the eleventh hour, inconveniencing me simply because you did not want to work and imbuing what has otherwise been a lovely moving journey with unprofessionalism, poor value service, unresponsiveness, incompetence, neglect, disrespect and blatantly wanton ableist disregard. We had them pack for us, which was another mistake. Over half the boxes they packed were unlabeled, boxes were mixed, the contents just dumped into boxes seemingly randomly. First the positive…read more To my knowledge Big Red Shipping Services is the only service that can actually come to your dorm room to take away your boxes. This is a significant positive and may mean that you will still want to use them despite the many negatives. Negatives. 1. The place is student run and the response to phone calls and emails is sketchy at best. 2. If you have ever used a moving company, this is going to be very different. 3. The web portal is very rudimentary and it is hard to know what you are ordering. In fact because there is essentially no explanation you will most likely not get what you were expecting. 4. If you order packing, they will be very confused. Packing usually means the movers bring the boxes and you point and they pack. Big Red Shipping expects that you bought all of the boxes in advance and know where everything goes. Almost no one would ever correctly guess the number of boxes that they need. So the onus is on you to over buy boxes. If you don't have enough boxes, it is not going to storage. My suggestion. Only use BRSS if you are happy to pack your own stuff well in advance and only need movers to put it into storage. The packing service isn't what anybody actually would want.
