My husband researched movers for our move from Endicott to Cortland after selling our home. Based on the research and the excellent reviews, he contacted OB Moving to handle the move for us. Their response and communication was quick and professional. Their rates were reasonable and we scheduled the move for early December. We had a large home with all types of packed totes, boxes and large furniture, including a piano and pool table on three floors. We were moving the majority of items into storage, and some into a temporary apartment. Their crew arrived promptly and started working; they loaded their moving truck, as well as a flatbed truck we borrowed from family. The guys were very polite, friendly, and efficient. They asked questions when needed, to separate out storage items from apartment items. They were extremely careful when moving the heavy furniture, piano, pool table and very strategic when loading items on the truck to efficiently use the space. They worked all day and unloaded their truck and our flatbed truck into storage, and also made a trip to unload items for the apartment. It was clear that they all worked as a team and communicated well with each other. Overall, the experience was EXCELLENT!! Everyone involved helping us move that day was VERY impressed by their work, professionalism and friendliness. This move was temporary and when we purchase a new home, we plan to contact OB Moving again because they were GREAT! We would HIGHLY recommend them to anyone looking for reliable movers. My wife and I just had OB Moving do a job for us, and we were impressed with them at every step of the process. They gave us a very reasonable quote. Phil was responsive to our emails throughout. When they couldn't guarantee us the time and date of our first choice, they said that they would call us if they finished their other jobs early; sure enough, we got a call on that day, and they came by and did it for us. Four of the nicest guys you ever met came to move our stuff from our storage unit into our moving truck. It took them all of 30 minutes to unload a 10 by 10 unit and pack a 16-foot truck perfectly. They even used our broom to sweep out our storage unit once it was empty. Absolute pros, and total gentlemen. More than that, we were impressed with how much care they took with our belongings. Here is one small example: when one of them had to pause while carrying a rather heavy tatami mat, he rested it on his foot rather than let it sit on the ground. Phil and his crew were smart, professional, gentle, good-natured and quick-witted. When I expressed trepidation at the prospect of driving a truck on an interstate for 8 hours (having never driven anything larger than a pickup before), they were very reassuring, giving me some tips and really helping to build my confidence and reduce my stress... so they can even provide therapy! My husband and I hired OB Moving to help us move from one apartment to another in the Ithaca area because I was 8 months pregnant and couldn't help move large boxes (much less furniture). These guys are amazing! It only took a few hours for them to move everything, even though it was a very hot day in August. When we arrived at our new place, the landlord was still sealing the floors and we had to wait an hour before we could move in (we had confirmed what time we would be moving in with the landlord, but they were running behind schedule). OB Moving very graciously took their lunch break and then came back to move us into the new place. My husband and I had set aside a few, very fragile items that we thought would be easier to move ourselves than to safely package for others to move. We were intending to go back later in the day with our car to move those items, but OB Moving very kindly moved those items for us, too (using one of the mover's cars). OB Movers are excellent, without a doubt. Personable and professional, the four men who came to help move from one apartment to the next--Ithaca to Newfield--were quick but careful. They were a little late, but let me know ahead of time due to some truck trouble they were having. I appreciate the heads up, and they were only a little delayed! But no delays once the furniture starts moving. And once the unpacking started, they were patient as I instructed them where to place the bed, dresser, etc. They even pointed out a problem shelf in our bookcase (already there) and that there were some spider eggs in the garage of the new place. It took them one hour to gather my things, including a large and heavy plasma television, and get from point A to point B. $140 for the hour is a reasonable price, which was just the icing on the cake for my experience. I have had such good luck with their service that I recommend them to all of my closest friends, including my friends in Rehoboth beach DE The couple was moving 10 miles from their old home. Did a three day move with lots of stuff and I was very pleased. They said what they were going to do and then they did it! They handled all items with the same care you might expect from the big national brands. They wrapped everything fragile or that was prone to scratch damage. They were extremely careful and cautious with both properties; protecting floors, banisters, walls, etc. The teams communicates very well. As I watched I often heard them talking and planning at each step of the way for complex pieces or difficult maneuvers BEFORE actually moving it. We have used OB Moving for the past several years, with the most recent move for our daughter... Phil and Greg are, hands down, the best moving company that we have ever encountered! For this move, the team had to unload a large POD container into the moving truck, drive to the new house, and then unload the truck at the house- a LOT of work! A fine experience. Polite, flexible, pleasant young men who handled my belongings with great care. This is was a complex local move from an office to three different destinations. I didn't see anything bump into a doorway or corner even once, around some tortuous turns with, at times big, clumsy pieces. They fastidiously placed furnishings on palettes and casters I provided to protect from potential damp on the concrete floor where they'll be stored. They carried unwieldy pieces up a long driveway uncomplainingly (on a hot, muggy day) rather than have the truck tangle with a narrow, irregular driveway. I highly recommend this moving company!!!! They are very professional and polite and friendly! They get the job done. They moved my 86 year old Dad from one apartment to another, these guys made the move so less stressful for myself and my Dad They loaded the truck and within 2 hours they were done! We used OB Moving for our move at the beginning of the month and we couldn't have been more pleased. They were right on time, loaded and unloaded the truck in record time, and nothing was damaged. We had several nice furniture pieces, including a dining set and a few antiques, that we were concerned about, but they took great care and wrap and load everything carefully and nothing had so much as a scratch on it when they were done. I have used professional movers several times and this was, by far, the best experience. The entire crew worked well together and were great working with us. They were careful and managed some fairly complex challenges including several large, curved glass display cabinets with apparent ease. The owner contacted us several days before our initial move date because there was very poor weather forecast for that day, and offered to do the move a day early. Phil, Greg, and team were extremely professional, efficient, and reasonably priced. The main motivator originally for going with OB Moving was the fact that they bring their own truck so you don't have to deal with renting one. You tell them a date and time, and they do the rest. These guys will do more than just move furniture in and out of houses. After completely moving our possessions into our new home, they took the time move a large pallet of pellets from my garage to the back shed. I used OB moving earlier in the week to move me from Brooktondale to Dryden. I can't tell you how happy I was with the guys. Phil, Phil and Greg (I think it was Greg...sorry if I'm wrong!!) showed up exactly when they said they would and were incredibly careful with all of my items. The three of them even made moving my elliptical from the second floor to the ground floor look easy. He was fantastic, gave me detailed answers, and even emailed a quote in writing at my husband's request. I appreciate these guys very much. We had to move some pretty big, heavy and expensive furniture from an upstairs apartment to a small opening above a garage for storage several miles away, today. I only expected them to drop off the furniture in the driveway but they put it up in the garage anyway. They showed up five minutes early, they worked very fast yet careful. I was SO impressed by OB Moving. They showed up on time, were professional, and were easy to work with. The team worked well together, and I could tell they all take their job seriously. They were very careful with our belongings, and even took apart AND reassembled a big wooden bed! No hidden charges- you pay for their time and they will pretty much do whatever you need. I could not recommend this company enough and would give six stars if I could. These are strong guys, and they really know what they're doing. They moved some very heavy furniture from the second floor down a narrow staircase, without ever dropping the furniture or touching the floor or walls. I was expecting the move to take two to three hours. The whole move took less than one hour! You'll end up saving hundreds of dollars because they are so efficient. Make sure to tip accordingly and book at least two months in advance. read more
