The staff are very friendly and helpful with any questions about storage or for borrowing their equipment to help you haul your items within the storage complex. I recently left the storage unit that is next to them. They raised the rent almost 2-3 times a year and without fail. A 10x15 unit there started at around 119$ and went up to $240. Wild right! This place got me for 2 reasons so far. 1) Price 2)Customer service. Miss Nicole and Nesiah were on top of my worries and concerns and helped ease my mind a little when it came to what to expect from this company. They deserve a shout out. I can understand a slight increase in storage fee so my rating will absolutely depend on how that goes in the next few months, but as of now, the employees there are awesome, the facility is clean, and the price was good. BEWARE ! ! ! These people are CROOKS! They will falsify your bill. If you pay in full, they will then claim that your next bill is due just days later. Then they will lock you from the gate code. After that, they will claim that you are behind and owe much more than you do. If you file a complaint, they will auction your belongings without even notifying you! Incompetent employees. Everyone is a manager and nobody knows what's going on. Elevator is always broken or the gate won't open. Ridiculous.

Avoid this business because they mistakenly send out hostile collection letters to customers who are all paid up. It happened to me -- twice! My account was set up to charge my credit card. Everything was fine until December when it abruptly stopped working -- unknown to me. In January I got a hostile, nasty phone call from Storage King saying I was in arrears and my contents would be thrown away. I rushed to the Ft. Lowell address and the woman apologized and re-created my account, which had been mysteriously DELETED. The new account was definitely linked to my credit card. I made sure of that. I also asked for an apology and never got one. Today, March 30, 2022, I got a threatening email saying, "You are hereby notified that you are in default of your Rental Agreement for the failure to pay rent on the above referenced storage space at the facility referenced above.  As of the date of this notice, the following sums are due and owing to the Operator: Date    Description     Charge  Tax     Payment Balance Total Due:     0.00 Storage King sent a hostile collection letter demanding $0. I called 520.399.8334 and the operator said my account was up to date, and my next payment was not due till April 7. She said my card was linked to the account and she had no explanation why I got the hostile letter. I am still waiting for an apology. read more

Please refrain from storing items here! My valuable possessions were stolen, and no one bothered to inform me. Not only was there a complete lack of communication, but they also went so far as to weld the broken latch to access my unit without my knowledge. I had no idea about the break-in or the attempted repairs until I visited on October 28, 2024, to store more items and discovered the damage. When I reserved my unit in August 2024, Sandra asked me for a 5-star review on Google, which now seems quite telling in light of my experience. I will be pursuing legal action due to the negligence and corruption involved. read more

There was a fire at this facility on 7/21/2021 and they did not notify any of the unit renters about it. I had no idea this happened until I happened to stop by there today (8/7/2021). We have extensive loss of personal property because of water damage from TFD putting out the fire, and our things were soaked and covered in mold. Storage King did not notify anyone about this damage, and when I asked about that the manager told me she was upset that corporate didn't let us know, and stated she had heard several complaints from other renters as well. I have no idea why the people managing this facility didn't tell anyone themselves. Had we known sooner, we may have been able to salvage some of the irreplaceable family heirlooms that were lost. BEYOND HEARTBROKEN... UPDATE (8/8/2021): My wife and I found a new storage unit facility today and went into the office to close our account with Storage King. I asked Dolores (the assistant manager) for copies of our lease agreement and the insurance information to file a claim. She was not able to find either, and after a few minutes began YELLING at us, saying how stressed she was with her work (listing off all the things she's been dealing with) and then berated me for asking for the insurance information. I tried to tell her several times that I would talk to the manager Chris in the morning if she couldn't find what we needed, but she kept interrupting me and yelling at me, accusing me of having a poor tone of voice. I swear I began this conversation professionally and respectfully... If I sound sad it's because we just experienced huge loss the day prior!! I told her to stop yelling at me and her response was "I won't stop." I then told her I was prepared to record her interaction with us for evidence of her behavior, and she accused me of being childish and told me there were cameras in the office anyways. If this is the case, I ask Storage King corporate to review this incident. It took place at approximately 12:10 pm today. I've never been treated so poorly by anyone, in ANY capacity as I was by Dolores today. All we want is the information to file a claim with insurance. Again, I began this whole interaction professionally. Still don't have any way to file an insurance claim. What a heartbreaking and frustrating weekend. read more

My first and last experience with this company. I rented a unit in July 2021 that I needed for just three months. In that time, the manager changed three times, the elevator was out of commission four times due to rain, and I was never able to reach a representative at this location on the first try (either in person or by phone). I was never given the opportunity to read the contract when signing up (my fault, I should have pushed harder) and never received a copy of it. The unit itself was fine. The flat beds were nice for transferring boxes from my car to the unit. Fast forward to October 3. I requested that the account be closed as I'd moved out of the unit and left it in clean condition. Predictably, no response. Followed up on the 8th, finally got to talk to someone who said they'd check the unit and close the account. Didn't get the email confirmation I requested so followed up again 10/23. Found out the account hadn't been closed, another month rental was withdrawn. I asked for a prorated refund -- only fair that I pay for the 2 days after the payment was made. However, when I followed up AGAIN about the refund, I was told that they don't do partial refunds. Just too bad. If you choose to do business with the company, know that they will take as much as then can -- even if it's not part of the agreement -- and never treat you with the respect you deserve. Avoid this place at all costs!! The staff are absolutely incompetent, don't care, and have no problem solving skills. I rented a unit online Tuesday. Signed a rental agreement, was charged the full months rent on Tuesday. Was sent the full accepted rental agreement, given a unit number and the gate code. Show up Thursday with trucks loaded to put in unit, code doesn't work. I head into office where I was met with such an incompetent employee, I was shocked. They began to blame me, told me I was at the wrong facility, I must not have really completed an agreement. BTW I have 2 emails from Storage King stating the exact opposite! Then proceeded to tell me I was emailed and called to tell me there was a computer glitch and that's why I was able to get a unit online. But I definitely was not charged. Well I was charged the full amount and now need to deal with my bank to get that resolved. Again, please go somewhere else!! read more

I made arrangements to store some things at this Storage King on Ft Lowell and paid in advance. I called the day I was to move in because I was to pick up the lock and key from them and I told them the movers and I would be there in 2 hours. When we arrived, the whole place was closed and locked up. There was a note on door with a phone number to call, but the man who answered stated he did know why people were calling him. I was panicked because I was going to have to pay the movers more, and it was over 100 degrees. The key locks didn't work; we were told by other frustrated renters that this was a frequent problem. I called the National Storage King office but no one answered. I had to leave because I have a chronic illness, cannot sweat, and I had heat exhaustion which could have turned into heat stroke. I was sick for two weeks after the Storage King disaster/fiasco. I had to pay the movers an additional $279 for the extra time, and they were pretty mad about the whole experience. They were later able to enter after a renter got another door to work, but it was far from my unit and wasn't locked. I was worried it might get robbed. Called Storage King's national office, did get one woman who said she'd send a message the next day; they weren't open anyway. Got another woman who was clueless about the company and wouldn't help. Called the next morning, talked to manager Angela (not sure of her name), who said she was told to leave by the "regional manager" because the A/C wasn't working, which is another frequent problem. Angela argued with me, said phone number was correct, that there were no messages from me (she hadn't checked messages), and she was leaving for a vacation that afternoon. There is only one other person who works there; called next day, he was frazzled because so many customers were there complaining. Key locks, A/C, and elevators were broken. He did put a lock on the unit at my request, and the keys would be at office. I sent many messages to Storage King describing my horrible experience and requesting reimbursement for the extra money I had to pay the movers because of Storage King's ineptitude and disregard for their customers. The only response I ever got was a computer generated form letter from a Vanessa, which was identical to responses that they sent to other unhappy renters. I never received any phone calls in response to my messages. I tried sending a message again, got same response, which said to call that facility again. I called again, requested a phone number or email for home or National office, was told they "didn't have that information." Then they raised my monthly rent; might have been a coincidence but I am still so angry it just upset me more. Why didn't I just go somewhere else? Well, I had paid in advance, I already had to pay the movers the extra $279 (which I have tried to get reimbursed for by Storage King, but have received no response other than the rent increase), and my belongings were already in the unit. Also, I couldn't find another facility with A/C and it was already late afternoon, and many self-storage units close at 6pm. I was lucky my movers came back for one last try, or my belongings would have been on the street. Storage King on Ft. Lowell in Tucson, AZ, is horribly run, has no consideration for its customers, and basically doesn't care. All I ever received were those form letters in response to my concerns. I tried calling the Better Business Bureau of Southern Arizona, but never got any response. I have considered asking my attorney to help me get reimbursed for the $279, but that would end up costing me even more! This whole experience has cost more than money; I lost two weeks of my life recovering physically. Been to Storage King only once, to get the keys and inspect the unit. Don't want to go again. Needed a short term storage facility during a move. When I came in to secure the unit they found me a better rate than what I found online. I also didn't need it as long as I expected and they made it easy to get everything taken care of for the early cancellation. The facility was extremely clean and easy to navigate. You need to communicate what your hours are more clearly. If you're open until 7pm, stay open until 7pm. And why allow access through the gates if you can't get into the building? Send an email or something if you're going to institute a "last entry time" policy. Not doing that is just rude and disrespectful of your clients. read more

This property is poorly managed. I would avoid it! I signed up online for a parking space for my trailer at a promotional rate. When I got there the space they rented me was occupied. Manager moved me to another. Screw up with billing because they now had me as office sign up at higher rate and I lost the online sign up rate. When I took my trailer on vacation for 7 days my keypad number was invalid on return. While I was on vacation they rented out my space 10 days before my rent was due since it was empty without checking with me or saying anything. Now they say come in we have another space but you'll pay the higher rate and no compensation for the 10 days. What a @#$%^&* company and service. read more

In Jan 2023 I received notice we were overdue and penalty charged. It appeared to be our fault since our bank auto-pay wasn't updated for a rent increase. My bad. It isn't easy for me to travel to the physical location. I chatted on the Storage King online service to get an account question clarified and she couldn't tell me the details/composition of the balance owed and said the manager would call me. NO CALL. I paid the penalty. In Feb 2023 I again contacted the "CHAT" online because my payment they were not showing as received, though the bank had it as cleared. The representative in the chat took my phone number and said she would contact the manager and I would get a call. I told her I had little faith that would happen since the month previous I was told the same thing. She said she can't say why I wasn't called just that she can only make the request to the manager. NO CALL. On March 6th 2023 I called Fort Lowell at 520.399.8334. The automated answering service only allows one the option to leave a message for the manager and they will call back. My phone message to the manager included my cleared check number so I can be credited for it. I am trying to avoid the inevitable next problem of being charged a late fee next week for a payment they have received and have not credited my account. STILL WAITING, NO CALL. This should be a simple thing to clear up. I have a copy and date of the cleared check I can provide. I will find a way to get there during office hours to clear this up but I am so irritated by the several hours of time between Storage King and my bank spent trying to just be communicated with. I'm a CPA, I recognize why payments can be received by an organization and not credited. It usually means shortcomings in their cash receipt controls . . . which is not comforting for a customer. This is exacerbated by what appears to be an unorganized or incompetent manager/management. read more

The staff is nice to your face but very dishonest. Staff destroyed one of my paintings in the unit worth almost 1000$, insurance won't compensate us. Staff didn't tell us the latch was faulty on our unit until after a staff member opened our unit to "check if it was open," entered it, and proceeded to knock over items in the unit causing irreversible damage to an expensive oil painting. They admitted they knew about the latch issue before this happened but opted not to tell us because they were scared people might steal (they could solve this by simply replacing the faulty latch and providing new locks and notifying us), and instructed us to get the wrong type of lock for the unit that wouldn't prevent it being opened, either by strangers or staff. They told us the right lock to get after the painting was already ruined and we called to report what had happened. The management at storage king would not help us with the claim, nor provide us information as to what they told the insurance company that resulted in a denial of our claim, but we are moving forward with a police report and legal action. Do not rent here if you want your stuff kept safe, they are scamming you and the insurance they force you to get with the unit has horrible reviews and doesn't compensate you for damage. read more
