I left a poor review last year and the issues I had then have not changed. In fact things seem worse. Again, produce does not look fresh, as well as limited items that are not replenished. It's available but you have to ask someone, and good luck with finding someone to help. Now in addition to the higher prices than other stores, you must bring your own bags or pay for bags. Very rarely is a real check out person available. so you're forced to do self checkout with one poor worker trying to manage 8 to 10 people at a time. Personally, I believe the unhappy staff are overworked and underpaid. Not to mention the organization (stop and shop) is decreasing staff for the sake of increasing there revenues. An instead relying on there customers to take the place of workers because there's no one available at a real check out aisle. I'm so sorry to leave a bad review but Stop and Shop has really gone downhill. Prices, poor produce, lack of quality service will surely have its impact on its survival. My experience at Market Basket has been so satisfying that I will no longer shop at stop and shop. The workers at Market Basket seem satisfied and happy, there are plenty of check out aisles, and brown paper bags are available at no charge. Shelves are always full, and if not there is always someone available who is happy to help. It's a bit out of my way but worth it, as I don't walk out disappointed and dissatisfied. I believe it's all part of the organization that doesn't see they are losing customers because of their greed to satisfy themselves not their customers. In life I learned if you have nothing nice to say don't say anything. Wont be going back here anymore. A few years ago they installed a hand held barcode scanner device near the entrance that NEVER worked like its supposed to so everyone gave up on it. Now it just sits there collecting dust as a reminder of what a failure of an idea it was. Then they fired most of the cashiers and just assumed youd be fine checking yourself out with the incredibly inconvenient self checkout machines. Giving me anxiety every time i picked up an item that didnt have a barcode like fruit or prepared food. I guess they just hoped youd just train yourself on how to operate these machines. Cause you work for Stop n Shop now if you want to eat today. The straw that breaks the camels back is this RIDICULOUS, monstrosity of a robot that they have patrolling the aisles. The thing beeps incessantly, like your car when you forget to put on your seat belt. Its maddening. Every chance these guys get they shove a failed attempt at 'modernizing' the grocery store experience down your throat. I JUST WANTED TO GET SOME FOOD! I didnt want to be part of your misguided attempts at competing against Amazon. They say this robot rolls around the store looking for spills but it actually collects data on where you spend time, how long you stand in a spot and is recording EVERYTHING. There's a camera every 2 inches on this thing. Stop lying, you burned your good will somewhere along the line of your other failed attempts at trying to stay relevant. Heres an idea, maybe you guys can offer some fresh food in the prepared food section that isnt DRENCHED in mayonnaise. Of all the Stop & Shops I've visited I feel like this is the worst. The staff is rude and lazy. They always act as if I'm bugging them by asking a question. After the last incident I had I decided to never visit this store again! I was in self check out and buying Tide which was on sale. The sale price didn't ring up so I asked the women there. She looked in the flyer and said well its not in the flyer so it's not on sale...I told her to go look there is a sign. She rolled her eyes and called over a guy, who was putting up candy. He went over got a price that was a sale price but higher then the one I saw. I told him that...he said he saw that sign but it was empty (BTW, this wasn't said professionally, he was upset)..ummmm..I purchased the last one....sooooo...not sure why he didn't look at what I had before he went over there... So the women told me I had to use the digital app..which was fine but I never used it before and told her so. She actually huffed..again like I was bugging her..WTH. She also didn't know how to use it so had to call over yet another guy. This guy seem younger then both of the previous employees yet was the most professional. I must at admit nicer then anyone I ever experienced there. I'm writing this because this isn't the first time I encounter staff here being rude! It's happened so many times that I decided not to spend one more dime here. I believe if management cared it wouldn't be so many that act like that. I HAD to write a review of this place because it was crazy when I went in on Sunday I tend to shop at the Stop and Shop in Attleboro because it has a larger natural section but I wanted vegan cheese and knew this place had it and the other Stop and Shop seems to no longer carry it? Who knows- nothing makes sense at Stop and Shops in RI.. Anyway, the place was totally ransacked, product everywhere, shelves were bare- Even in the cosmetic area- I needed tweezers and it was very strange to see the state of the place- Never seen anything like it before in my life. Another really bizarre and stupid thing was that I went to go buy the vegan cheese and some idiot with a pen wrote " GOT PUS" on all the milks (AND RANSACKED THAT TOO!) Went to get my GF bread- there was pretty much nothing in that aisle either- Literally just two loaves. Same for the traditional bread aisle. Luckily, there was one left of the one I was purchasing for my boyfriend. What I want to know is-- 1. Why do you keep the vegan stuff with real milk? Makes zero sense. 2. Why do you keep the vegan cheese, the vegan creamer, the vegan milk and the other vegan items (burger stuff/ tofu) on TWO TOTALLY OPPOSITE SIDES OF THE STORE? In the other Stop and Shops the tofu/vegan items are in ONE PLACE- WHERE IT MAKES SENSE! 3. Prosecute people who deface your products/ ruin your store It is frustrating living in this area with minimal shopping for groceries and dealing with the states of these stores. Ive lived in MA most of my life and frequented Stop and Shops in my area- nothing like this- it has to be a management problem. read more

I'm partial to Whole Foods and Dave's Marketplace but this S&S is just down the street. And I have to say I'm never disappointed. Items are always in stock, the prices are reasonable and the only employees I ever come in contact with are very nice. The organic/gluten free section could be a bit bigger. Thats where I find many of my groceries. But I'm glad these are actually well stocked a special call out to the Meat Dept. always willing to help you find what you need or try something you're unsure of. read more

Have driven by this S&S location a number of times lately, but have never stopped in until this evening. This is a well organized, clean and orderly store. I was surprised to see that the location was running on a skeleton crew by about 7:30 pm on a Monday,and in a couple of instances, I had to hunt down folks for assistance. However, the staff members whom I did find were helpful and attentive. Looking forward to visiting again during a prime time to get a better sense of the rhythm of this location. read more

I live closer to the Lincoln store but prefer this one. The staff is very friendly, and sale items are in stock 95% of the time. It is clean and the big bald manager (sorry) is usually within sight on the floor and very friendly. I love this store. It has a neighborhood feel. read more

I seem to have a problem with Stop & Shop. I stopped at this store as it was convenient, and I only needed a couple of things. Though the store is clean and well stocked, some of the employees were rude and immature. They need to learn how to treat strangers and behave like considerate adults. They will drive some customers away. As I said in another review, I do the bulk of my shopping in Market Basket and Aldi. This is a big main reason why. Yesterday I bought the Stop and Shop Thanksgiving turkey meal for two and I must say that it was a terribly disappointing meal. The turkey was over done and so dry that it was almost impossible to cut. I was given 2 jars of "chicken" gravy rather than turkey gravy. I tried reheating the turkey according to the instructions provided by the deli department and it made for the turkey to be even more over done. Prior to reheating, I could not cut it at all. Having paid $24.99 I didn't expect a gourmet meal but I did expect a meal that I could eat but could not. I would not recommend others to buy this and I certainly plan on contacting the corporate office tomorrow to request my money back. read more

Maybe its because I've lived away from New England much of my life, but this store bothers me. I just have trouble with Stop & Shop to begin with, and this one just seems to set me off. There are always tons of seagulls in the parking lot, so it gives off a dirty feeling to begin with. I go in the store and it seems alright, but the restrooms are filthy and that's an understatement. The prices (like I said I have lived outside of New England much of my life)are outrageous and I don't get it. The neighborhood is obviously low income. So where are people getting this kind of money to pay these rip off prices for food. That signals me a lot of food stamps and welfare at this Stop & Shop. The staff is made up of to many young kids as cashiers. I got tired of having to swipe my debit card more than once everytime I go in this store. Today I swipe it and the transaction goes all the way to the total of my purchase. The cashier looks at her register confused, and says you will have to swipe again. I said it's giving me the total on my screen and its waiting for the cashier. So I had enough and left my purchase on the counter and left. I won't be going back to Stop & Shop anymore. Personally I think they are on their way out, as more completion finally arrives in New England. This location can be the first to close for all I care. After running around to many stop and shops looking for soy baby formula(which most of them where sold out) my husband had called this one and the clerk on the phone said yes we have plenty of soy formula and would you like me to set it out for you, my husband said that wouldn't be necessary because I was already on my way. When I got there I went to the cashier who very rudely informed me that the customer service desk wouldn't be open till 8 so I would have to come back after that. Mind you it was already 7:40 and the store had been open since 6. I explained to her my husband had just gotten off the phone with someone who said it would not be a problem and her response.. Tough luck. The whole reason for me going to the store so early in the morning was so I could go before my husband took off for work and I wouldn't have to take my newborn and toddler out in 10 degree weather. I ultimately drove to the stop and shop in East Providence where they had no problem selling me formula before 8. I only gave this stop and shop 2 stars because like the other reviewers have said it is pretty clean and well stocked but it gets 0 stars on customer service. read more
