The most requested rotisserie chicken left on Chicken Wars is Market Basket. They have 95 locations, primarily all in New England, and they have SOLDIERS. My comments have been flooded with Market Basket requests since I started this journey. For full transparency, I didn't know MB existed until I started DOGGIN these chickens. I walked in with my production team, and was so caught off guard. Employees smiling from ear to ear while being dressed to the nines, floors squeaky clean, a fresh popcorn station, a delectable looking hot bar, etc. There is just so much soul in here. This is what a family run grocery store looks like before they sell out. You can just tell, this is their baby. They care so much. They put their heart and soul into running these stores, and it shows. I felt like I was in a Bucee's, and I don't know if I could give a higher compliment. Perhaps the most surprising thing of all was the $4.69 rotisserie chicken. This marks the cheapest tissi Chicken Wars has ever seen. Cheaper than Costco and Sam's Club. How are they doing this? My one concern was that the chicken came in saran wrap, which I thought would make the skin all soggy. The other 32 grocery stores I've tried all came in a plastic bag or plastic container. However, I respected the confidence. They're not scared to do something no one else is doing. Talent hits a target no one else can hit, genius hits a target no one else can see. We got this bird and took it to a park down the street, and I began consumption. The skin was ideal, a perfect golden brown with a slight crisp. The saran wrap didn't make it soggy at all. The breast was perfectly tender and was delicious. I didn't need one sip of water throughout the whole bird. The leg was operating at a high level as well, falling off the bone. I sat on this park bench in awe. How? How can this be $4.69, a good size, and this good? It didn't make sense. I'm still struggling to come to terms with it. I ended up giving it an 8.9/10, which makes it tied for 3rd with the Fresh Market. My only critique is it didn't have as much flavor as Fairway or Publix, but it was right there. I was so inspired that I went back in and tried to buy a hat, but they didn't sell any smh. I was especially thankful for this, as we needed a road win in New England. The other 2 birds I tried up here were ROUGH. A nice side effect of this journey has been traveling to try new birds. Every time I travel, I feel like I gain a wealth of knowledge in a short period of time. I grow and learn every time I go to a new place, and to me, that's what life is all about. Yes, the parking lot is a hot mess and the entrance is generally packed with people going in or out or at the take out counter so it's frantic feeling upon entry. And - the selection is great, prices are better, and quality surpasses Stop& Shop's by leaps and bounds. The fruit & veggie selection is excellent to me, the bakery products are excellent, and the pre-cut fruit bowls are always a hit when I bring them to friends' (and rival Whole Foods for variety - at about 1/2 the price). The lines of the store can be pretty intense usually but if you go during off peak hours, then you can have the grocery store mostly to yourself. We go on Tuesday evening at around eight. They close at nine so for that hour it is mostly empty. We stay away on the weekend because of how crowded it can be, but their deals are unmatched. They have high-quality foods and super low prices. I like Market Basket. There is no good grocery store for everything. I mean to get everything we want, we have to go to Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, MB and Costco. But overall, you can definitely survive by shopping at only one of them. People are nice and unpretentious. The store is clean and big here. What I like to get at MB is: 1- Vital Farms organic eggs. 2- Local mussels, Halibut and salmon steaks. 3- Halal organic Catelli beef filet mignon steaks and ground beef. Buy as fresh as you can. Once home, consume it. If you plan to refrigerate it for days, do not keep it sealed. Open them, put them on a drying rack in the fridge. Otherwise they will have a gamy smell if kept sealed for days. 4- Oasis Halal chicken: it is amazing! Get the whole chicken! And wings, drum sticks, breasts and thighs. This brand is the best I have found. It is better than chicken from halal stores. 5- Watermelon and cantaloupe when it's season. 6- Lindt white chocolate. 7- Organic A2 Bulgarian Trimona yogurt. This is so good. No junk added. 8- Organic aged cheddar shells Annie's Mac and cheese. 9- Kousa: it's a type of Levantine Mediterranean zucchini. I was in the area of this Market Basket and I decided to try their prepared salads. They had a large selection of them and all of them looked very fresh and the greens were all great looking. Their prepared food section also had rotisserie chickens, pizza slices, sandwiches, etc A very complete prepared food section, which will give you something to eat for a fraction than other places, especially when you are on the run and want something quick and easy. read more

A gentleman in front of us ordered 1 hot dog. The lady taking the order couldn't understand him. She said another meal, he said no, 1 hot dog. This went on 3 more times. As she's finally making it, she asks him what he wanted on it, and he had to tell her numerous times nothing. My son then orders 2 large chicken noodle soup. He had to say it 3x for her to understand. She then asks another lady if they have it, and it takes them several minutes to tell him they do not have it. I just moved back to the area and I changed my mind of what I said years ago. The prices are significantly better than Stop & Shop who continues to rip customers off to this day. Also Stop & Shop over the last decade has gotten much worse in every way, but I won't ramble on about that place. The food variety is also better than other local stores. I have become disabled, and they don't deliver, so I have to join stores with delivery services which is expensive because NONE of those stores carry everything I want, so I have to pay delivery to several different stores, instead of one! Customer service at the registers is deplorable, Kamila banged her fingernails on area waiting to get paid. Really I bagged my own stuff, did she want me to put the cash in drawer for her. It is getting worse every visit. Please someone give these employees proper training on how to treat customers, maybe have them watch chic fila videos to see how it's done. read more

My wife and I shop Market Basker in Warwick, RI from 2 to 3 times a week. Two days ago I saw a pile of corn on a big table. Purched 5 ears, Took em home along with all our other groceried. Cooked and had the corn along with one of your fine angus beef steaks. I must say the corn was the best I ever ate in my whole life, and, I've been eating local corn since i was a toddler. I'm now in my 80's. My only complaint is you don't have enough of those electric golf carts for our "Golden Years Seniors". Please make it easier for us to shop. I love your store. 5 stars for what appeared to be MB employees surrounding the checkout lane while a situation occurred. My wife & I headed to the checkout and encountered a man hurrying to the same checkout and then quickly & abruptly leaving the cart in the line in front of us. We had no idea what his situation was and when the next person in line was up and he was not there, we moved his cart and proceeded to say hello to the cashier and put our groceries on the belt. An angry man then loudly says "you moved my cart"! My wife responded "yes we thought you left"! He got very irritated and said he was only gone for 35 seconds. It was more like 2.5 or 3 minutes but we weren't counting we only knew at this point he was still shopping while in line. He did not say "I'll be right back" or "I forgot something", he just left his cart. I had a few words with him and my wife asked if he wanted to get checked out before us. He declined and just kept mumbling trying to start a fight. My wife told me to not engage with him anymore and we got the hell out of there. The store was not too busy for a Friday and he could have taken his cart to pick up whatever he forgot and then head back to the checkout lanes but he chose to shop while he was in line and expect others to wait for him. I don't care if it was 2 seconds or 5 minutes. It is rude to expect others to wait on you while you finish your shopping and be mad if they don't. Somehow we were wrong according to this guy? Horrible traffic flow, unorganized and poorly run. I frequent the W. Bridgewater store and the smaller Raynham store when possible, but this one is the closest to my home. Every time I go I regret not stopping at one of the others on my way home from work. -Typical rude kids working registers (when they're working at all). Front end 'managers' often go missing and are as rude as the cashiers. -Items on shelves mispriced constantly either not reflecting current sale price, or showing last week's sale price that's no longer in effect. -Veggies misidentified and mischarged every visit. -Police on-site about half the time I'm there. read more

No doubt there are many reasons to shop here. Today I stopped by for the first time in months. I found a few great deals. Some of the deals turned out to be fool's gold when I got home. The prepared salad looked great in the store. When I opened it, there was one pepper, a few cherry tomatoes and the rest was ice berg lettuce. One spinach Calzone turned out to be cold cuts. I don't return things and in this case I wish I had thrown it out. It was pretty bad. I'm a self check out guy and there are none at Basket. Great prices, but ALWAYS insanely busy. Stockers use large boxes and carts to stock shelves even during the busiest hours. Heard two happy dogs fighting while shopping last weekend - why would they allow people to bring dogs in a food store??? Ick! I am moving to North Attleboro and a new state and neighborhood necessitates a new go-to grocery store. We have to eat right?! Well this place will be the place to be, and the crowd reflects its popularity. It is clean, bright, well stocked with good selections, and the service was good enough (not great, as they didn't smile or speak much and lost a star). But it was soooo much better than the store closest to my house. That would be Stop n Shop. It has stained ceilings and missing ceiling tiles, empty shelves, and a smell that was discernibly bad even through my face mask. It beats Market Basket in the friendliness category but that's it! The parking lot was a zoo, finding a spot was tricky. Many employees constantly gathering carriages from the lot and returning them to the store. Very crowded and busy inside. Very clean store! If you want your Market Basket trip to go smoothly then I recommend going when they first open or about an hour before they close. The amount of customers and foot traffic they have within the store has tripled over the past year making it nearly impossible to navigate the aisles. I love this place! Everyone is always nice, the store is clean and well stocked. The only downside is the traffic and recent influx of people from Stop and Shop...but I think they're just realizing how much more they save here. The parking lot and traffic flow are bad and sometimes dangerous. The pizza they make and bake there in store is great with a good price. You can get a big slice or a whole pie. A slice of cheese is $2.25 and is 1/4 of a pizza. There is a coffee shop, sushi, pizza, sandwich station and hot food station at the front of the store and is great for picking up a lunch for a fair price. The store prices are fair without having to have coupons or a loyalty card. There are usually plenty of cashiers and baggers so the lines are reasonable. The store stocks good produce which is hard to come by. I like to shop for fruits and vegetables at local farms in the summer but this is where I go during the rest of the year. The managers and staff are helpful and professional. You don't have to look far if you need assistance. There is always a full staff. It is a very busy location. To me that means nothing is sitting on the shelves for a long period of time. Exceptionally large store which I feel is fantastic! One stop shop. They have prepackaged meals to grab and go. There also have a nice bakery, sushi shop, pizza, and subs at the front of the store where you can actually order something yummy freshly made to order! I love the freshly popped popcorn! Worse ever service in the Deli dept. I do not go there to be schooled over and over on the pronunciation of Soppressata. After repeating twice after the old grump in the glasses and dirty market basket baseball cap behind the counter, he should of just served me as he obviously new what I was asking for, but he had to say it a few more times as I tried to repeat it. Not so easy when I have a speech impediment. I may have pronounced wrong, over and over, but I was also pointing to the product, and he was saying it the way I would spoken it if I didn't have a speech impediment. He also never asked me how I wanted it slice, that or the cheese I asked for, and I certainly didn't expect my sliced chicken to me such a mess. I probably wouldn't have notices how filthy his Market Basket baseball cap was, but I was looking for a way to identify him. I am shocked that they even let him wear that cap now that I think about it. Supposed to be red, but more black than red on it,,,,, geesh, nasty. My husband wanted to ask him for an ounce of Market Basket courtesy. I did go to the service desk and told the women there, who said she would let his manager know. Hmmm, wonder if she really will, and wonder why she didn't call him to let me speak to him. I will make sure in the future to get a few random tickets at the deli, so if he is the one calling my number I can wait till he serves someone else and next the second person behind the counter. Good company, but this store has some problems. Every time I go shopping there always out of items. I always ask if they have any in the back room and the workers always say no. They tell me that the manufacturer went out of business, production problems, etc.... This review is specifically for the bakery. I ordered a cake for my husband's 30th birthday. When I mentioned it was a beer themed party, they were super accommodative of my decoration request. I wasn't really sure what to expect when I got off the phone with them after ordering but was blown away when I finally picked up the cake. There's Stop&Stop, Shaw's- but it's MB that's the real MVP. I am a huge fan of this grocery store! The prices are MUCH better than stop&shop, the produce is good quality, and the aisles are all clean! The have a good selection of cheeses too. ;) I usually have no problem with the MB brand of things - with one exception, the MB tomatoe paste was a bit to acidic-tasting. I bet the Hunt's brand would have tasted better. The service is also always wonderful and everyone has a name badge with how many years they've been working. Let me begin with: I do not live anywhere near a Market Basket. Sad. When I am in an area that has a Market Basket, I make it a point to stop. (The closest one is about an hour away.) They have such a great selection and the prices are so good. I picked up some celery salt here for $0.99 - same item was almost $4.00 at my local grocery. (Arrgh.) I hope the folks who live nearby appreciate what a gem they have in their own back yard. My only disappointment is the organic produce section is pretty thin. When we travel, we'll stop and pick up some pre-made meals to heat up in the microwave of our lodging. So many choices. Full bakery, cafe, prepared foods, wine and beer, so much food. This is a great market. It's massive, so, I've dubbed it a hypermarket. Market Basket seems to have just about everything you are looking for, and a dash extra. Their is a diverse ethnic food section caters to many, but suspiciously lacks foods from the UK, which are readily available at Stop & Shop. That kind of bummed me out. The employees are super friendly, snappily-dressed, and marked by their commitment to service. After hearing about CEO's vision to create a company where all are valued and well-compensated, you can see his investment working. The only reason I assessed a four-star rating is because of what I feel to be a bit of disorganization. Eggs and milk should be grouped together, bacon should be with the meat. It seems there is was too much segregation of items that should be grouped together and items, on occasion, randomly strewn about: sriracha sauce in multiple endcaps for no reason? Overall, the experience was wonderful, the prices were really compelling, and store was quite tidy, despite the blitz of the public.
