I love the deals at Market Basket! That being said, this place gets crowded and hectic but is overall clean. Their sushi I go back and forth on- absolutely great selection for a market place though and it usually hits the spot! Great selection of frozen foods- I love that they have the White Castle sliders. Overall, recommend this market but I know some friends who won't go here because it gets too busy. My one note is I don't love the way they organize produce. For example, there will be like 3-5 places where they have celery and it's difficult to compare prices and what you want. Very big market with a great selection- they usually have live lobsters at a decent price! I like their bakery items, prepared foods like Italian subs and sandwiches, and selection of frozen staples. It does get very busy but they are likely to have everything you need and want from a typical market, although their deli is not my favorite (I think Dave's has one of the best supermarket delis in Rhode Island). I overall recommend this market. There is a nice spot to sit and eat prepared foods if you like to do that. The bathrooms are generally relatively clean. read more

I think by far this is my favorite supermarket, lately there's been rotten Foods in other stores but there's Place always has fresh meat and vegetables. This is a huge grocery store...plenty of parking and very convenient to route 6 in Johnston. The best deals are found on their weekly flyer which runs from Sundays to Saturdays. This time we also saw lots of Halloween candy on sale as well as lots of decorations for that holiday. I had a small mixed up on one sale item that I got, and the cashier was very nice and very patient, calling the manager. When she came, she offered to get the right product for me. I said, well...thank you. She came back shortly with the right item and off I went. Great customer service. read more

This market is a new addition to the Johnston area. It's large! They pretty much carry anything you could possibly need, and even have their own brand name. of merchandise. The produce, bakery, meat and seafood sections are well stocked and some of the price points are much better than competing markets in the area. In Fridays I usually treat myself to a grilled steak and cheese grinder, made to order at their grill counter. For $6 it's huge!! They also make pizza to order as well. My only recommendation would be to add those laminated sheets of products that are listed in alphabetical order and the corresponding aisle to find it in! Love this market. read more

The aisles at Market Basket is very full stocked and organized and you'll be able to find what you are looking for. There are fresh produce, dairy, canned goods, baked goods, international aisle, sandwiches, pizza, cafe counter, and so much more. There is even a seating area to enjoy your food purchases if you like. Market Basket has many discounts and is a great place to shop for what you need. We saw they were making fresh pizzas. The 19" pizza consists of 4 slices. I got 1 slice of their 3 Topping Pizza. It had sausage, pepperoni, and bacon. The slice was $3.99 and it was huge, practically 2 slices which they cut for you. Great selection of steak cuts! My go to market for steak. The produce is so fresh and they have more exotic items aimed towards Asian culture: ginger, bok choy & Thai chilis based on season. Fair pricing here and the Prepared foods is pretty good. Sushi hands down is the best for a market store. They also have frozen bubble tea. I've noticed Hispanic offerings as well. Has a good seafood/deli market area as well as a meat counter. Very well stocked and clean, can get busy so cart traffic inside can get annoying but lines move fairly quickly. I love that they have prepared ck cutlets, ck strips, meals like pasta and all you have to do is reheat for convenience. They also have a prepared soup section. read more

Party Platters Order - I placed an order for food platters for a post-funeral service. I can't speak highly enough of the quality of everything. I ordered the hearty sandwich places, sandwich wraps, chicken Caesar salad, snacker's delight (it even came with crackers), and potato salad. All the trays were carefully packed in boxes, the condiments for the sandwiches were included. I kept hearing people say how good the rolls were or they loved the wrap. I didn't eat until very late but the Chicken Caesar Salad was delicious and the wrap was just as good. Everything just about went. Kudos Market Basket Johnston Team. This market has just about everything that I needed. I just wish they have more Asian ingredients so I don't have to drive into Providence to go to V-Mart or any of the Cambodian grocery stores. I went in here on a Monday afternoon. Since I know Market Basket has a reputation for always being insanely busy. Well a Monday afternoon was no different... holy shit! The amount of people here at 3:30 on a Monday was crazy! The amount of times I had to say "excuse me" just to get by in aisles was too many to count. I haven't been to a MB that much, but I wanted to make it a point to buy something this time. The prepared pizza from the pizza station is very good! Has a nice thick crust which I prefer on a pizza! It's cheaper than Dave's pizza and almost has a Papa Gino's taste. The employee behind the counter offered to heat it up which was nice! I did accidentally drop a glass jar of butter chicken sauce while I was in line, and had to run back and get another. Apologizing profusely. The lines are still very long, but the store brand foods definitely make up for the hectic bustle of this store. I'd definitely go again but I'll try to go when it's not too busy. This is the nicest Market Basket I've been to so far, after have shopped at 2 other locations. The store is HUGE absolutely overwhelming amounts of everything. The layout is setup in a good way where it actually makes sense which is nice and pretty easy to find what you're looking for. Lots of prepared food, the produce and meat departments are well kept and very fresh. They have a cafe, made to order pizza/subs/ hot food etc. this store literally has it all. Plenty of parking. Only downside is how busy it can get but other then that a decent place to shop. read more

"Storm is comin'! Go get ya watah!" is what I heard over the intercom at this new Market Basket located where the old BJ's used to be. You just don't get more Rhode Island than that! It's a little crowded, but if their stores are due to the great selection and fair prices. There's definitely a local touch here. Well staffed for opening/hurricane weekend, everyone seemed friendly and happy to be there. Shelves were constantly being restocked. There's an old-fashioned feel but modern selection and technology. Another conveniently located Market Basket in Rhode Island! This one is a great spot because it is close to Route 6 and 295 so there are SO many people closer to it. This store is a typical MB stop with all the fresh produce, some prepared foods, and classic setup like other stores. I really love that Market Basket has such an extensive selection of brands and items. The ethnic aisle is one that I always find different treats like European chocolate and candy (recommend milka chocolate!). Rarely you can see something overpriced here at MB. For example, I think a lot of the premade foods are a tad pricy for their quality. The meat dept can sometimes just be okay, a lot of inconsistency in the sell by dates of meats. One thing I ALWAYS get at market basket is staple foods. Where other competitors charge 2-3x more for something MB has everything as if it is perpetually on sale. I love it! My husband is gluten intolerant and they gave a wider selection here than any other place. I have always loved Market Basket and was thrilled when they were going to open up a location in Johnston, Rhode Island. I have been faithfully shopping there since they first opened. I go in there quite frequently might I add. I had an incident that took place there in the "prepared" food area. This area here is the worst area in the entire store. Try and avoid it if you can. The prices are fantastic but sadly, it's not worth the drama and stress it will cause you. There are a handful of employees there that are not too kind and highly unprofessional. Unfortunately, I will no longer go there. Such a shame that this type of ignorance has become the norm. Luckily, there are other markets where this type of behavior is unacceptable or allowed. When you're the only game in town, you can afford to understaff. Many times. I've walked in, lines not too bad. 15 minutes later, you are ready to check out, and lines are through the roof, with half the registers closed. This seems to happen any day or hour. Depending on which foods you a buying, prices can be better than other stores or they can be higher than other stores. Quality of foods are fairly decent. The prepared items are horrendous except for the Roasted Chickens which are usually fantastic. Frozen food items are very well priced but they never stock the items where the name of the product is suppose to be. They stock the shelves haphazardly and get the items all mixed up. Plus, they are always out of many of the items that we are looking for. The fresh fruits and vegetables are priced well but of lower quality. Meats are okay but the quality meats are on a special meat counter. Very nice deli and seafood counter but always crowded and the air temperature in that section is freezing because of the open dairy aisles being right there! Bring a jacket if you plan on waiting. The dairy aisle has many great prices and if you have kids the milk and butter is very affordable. You will not find many specialty items at Market Basket but you will save some money. The checkout area is slow and many of those who bag have no idea how to sort and bag groceries. Maybe that is because they don't speak English, so I always have to pull my carriage over after paying and re-bag most of my groceries. As an elderly woman, I ask for the the bags to be "not heavy" and they have no idea what I am saying. Maybe this is why the shelves are stocked incorrectly because they cannot read English either. I have asked for help finding items and they actually stand there with a cell phone trying to find an app that will translate. My time is valuable and I should not have to spend my time explaining to people who get paid to know their job! Corporate offices don't really care about the customers as they would fix this problem and teach the workers some skills. I should get my groceries cheaper for having to put up with these inconsistencies. Bottom line, you earn your savings at Market Basket! read more

Fairly well run organization. Prices are average, nice bakery section, good variety produce overall fresh, clean, better than average friendly staff. Not my go to, but I like coming here occasionally. Fresh pizza is a 6 out of 10, and that's a decent score for me. Tried the Sicilian and it was only 5 out of 10. This is a splendid supermarket. I am particularly fond of the fresh seafood department with such a wide variety of fresh fish to choose from, better than in any specialty store. Same for the meats and produce. It's also a nice place to have lunch or a snack before or after you shop. The hot food plate, with changing entrees every day, is a bargain and you can enjoy it in their spacious cafe, as you can with a snack. Good pizza slices too. And where else can you get a coffee and a donut for around two dollars total? Each checkout has a cashier and bagger, mostly courteous and cheery and there's none of that self-checkout nonsense! And no ridiculous roaming robots beep-beeping you! If you shop here regularly, you've made a good choice. Oh, and if you don't have a car, the #28 RIPTA bus goes right to the door, where you can sit on a bench to wait when you leave. read more

I had been very happy with this new supermarket and customers need to be wary of TWO things. The first is to check the item being pulled from the shelf as in many cases, the item shown under that product is not the same price as the actual price of the item. Since the store hates the idea of ANY bare shelf, they frequently shift items on shelves to make it seem like there are no gaps or empty spaces on the shelf. And even though they do sometimes block out the shelf price tag under that 'moved' item, sometimes they don't. So, you run the risk of paying more for an item that you thought was a different price. Secondly, check your receipts to make sure you are NOT being charged twice for an item, particularly an item that has been reduced. This double charge has happened TWICE to me now, but I do scan my receipts before leaving the store. What happens is that not only do you get charged the original price of that item, but also the sale price. They claim that they "forgot to scratch out" or "forgot to remove" the old price. But still, they need to be more diligent about getting their reduced items priced diligently so that no one gets charged twice for the same item. Thank you. read more

Discovered that the milk I bought was past its expiration date and when I asked the bagging people not to make the bags heavy in fear ful of them opening up Well the bag split open causing the glass items to break and stuff over the floor- Went back to the store spoke to someone at the customer service desk the rude person responded well you can use the milk nothing to worry about and when it was mentioned about the bags being heavy they responded well our people are new here give them a chance did not seem to care about the bags breaking and glass all over the place.Would have thought I would have been treated better. I am sick and tired everytime I come into your Johnston,RI store there is always a probelm. I have have enough Today 6-6-22 I decided to try you again this was a mistake. Just about every aisle I attempted to go down was blocked with merchandise- One of the people who was stocking this aisle complained he could not get his work down with everyone coming down trying to get it- He said something to me in a rude manner. and I almost got into a verbal situation. You milk was not fresh every milk I checked was past the expiration date a few was 12 days. I did not get everything I needed to get- When I noticed only 1 register open with a large line I decided this was enough I left. I attempted to speak to a employee who was rude and just looked at me and said If you don't like it leave I don't want to listen to you. Going to your customer service was worst I was told there was no one in charge that could speak to me. Well there had to be someone in charge- I will be taking my business elsewhere were I know i will be treated better.
