I like Aldi. This location can be hit or miss for produce and other items. It's ok- relatively clean with a funky bathroom. Worth it for some of the prices, I used to go more before I moved to a different part of town. There can be long lines but they go fast. The worst Aldi I've been to. Cart area was littered with trash and they weren't all returned to the cart stop. About only 10carts left to pull from while they had the back of the parking lot lined up with carts. The inventory was very poor. Lemons rotted, green grapes rotted, mangos looking hurt af. Yes, this particular Aldi is not the cleanest nor most organized one in the area, but it's the closest to our condo. I look past the messy areas that sometimes I see as I walk around and I focus on the items that I want to purchase. This last time, I tried their gourmet soups in a glass jar and they were surprisingly good...the corn chowder one was creamy and very flavorful. I eat low in salt, so I had to thin it down a bit, but otherwise, it was a good quick fix whenever I need some warm soup and I haven't made any at home.... read more

My fave place to shop. Prices are lower than any other store around us. There are not many registers open but they move super fast and someone will come up and open when a line forms. The aisle of shame which is us caw caw Aldi insiders fave area, has all kinds of seasonal and one time deals. Bring a quarter for your carriage , and bags for bagging. It's a no frills market. You won't find beautiful displays or flashy advertisements, but always great prices. I assume the staff is treated well because everyone is always kind and happy. I love Aldi's, but out of all the Aldi's I've been to, this is the smallest. Because of that, they don't have a very big selection of items, which is what I actually love about Aldi's. Just being able to walk down the aisles and find new stuff to try. The store itself was pretty clean, but there was a strong chemically cleaning product smell on one half of the store. It's not a bad store, it's just... okay. It's fine, but lacking. I probably won't be visiting this particular store unless I was in the area and really needed to. I love Aldi! It's got a great selection of organic and health food. They removed GMOs from the entire grocery chain (who does that?!). Healthy food options at an affordable price, what's not to like? This one can be on the small side so it runs out of some common foods. However, I find that with the non-gentrified neighborhood, they get more interesting special buys than some of the others (Cranston St). The parking lot is not for the feint of heart (or a really nice car) but I've never had a real issue. There is also a security guard but I've never seen them do more than greet customers. read more

When I start breaking out in hives at the thought of people earnestly discussing their self-diagnosed gluten allergies while blocking the fancier aisles of Whole Paycheck with their jogging strollers, I come to Aldi. By the way, if you do this you suck. This isn't my fave Aldi in the area (the one on Cranston St. is), so there's some pros and cons to be aware of if you come to this particular Aldi. Pros: - Egalitarian store selection. Given the fact that this Aldi is in a lower income neighborhood, Aldi still carries the regular and organic items I'd normally pick up - Quicker lines than competitors - Good workers - I've noticed that the employees here are exceptionally helpful. - Convenient location Cons: - Parking Lot - can be an atrocity of bumper car like proportions, as bad as Whole Paycheck on Main Street at peak times. - Can get messy and chaotic - Higher likelihood of getting hollered at by the neighborhood shorties - but if you're nice to them, they may run ahead of you to open the (automatic sliding) door for you. ALDI - $2.29 Organic soy milk and $2.49 almond milk - Grocery Near Me - Providence, Rhode Island

I'm not a snob, and I appreciate quality. I split my grocery shopping between Whole Foods, East Side Marketplace, Trader Joe's, and Aldi -- consistently, Aldi is the cheapest for anything I'm buying (unless WF/East Side are having a crazy sale on something). I've been shopping at Aldi in Germany since I was a kid, and they are under the same ownership as Trader Joe's. There are lots of basics I get at Aldi that are comparable to house-brand items from other supermarkets. No, I don't usually buy fresh meat here, and I'm not someone who tends to buy prepared foods, but for things like cooking spray, sugar, salt, and lettuce, Aldi brand products are nearly indistinguishable from stuff you'd find in more conventional supermarkets, for most conceivable applications. And, you seriously can't beat these prices. A few of my regular purchases include Moser Roth chocolates (German quality, American prices), nuts, the fancy lettuces, frozen berries, and the occasional bag of snack chips. The produce has good days and bad days -- come when they have a fresh shipment, and everything is awesome, but sometimes they've been sitting for a few days and they start showing signs of decay. Their cheeses, as one might expect, can be hit or miss; most tend to miss the delicate or subtle flavors of a more expensive cheese. But for basic things, Aldi is awesome. I've even gotten a Le Creuset-esque enameled cast iron Dutch oven that is holding up wonderfully for about $30. Note that the people at the registers are expected to move customers through at a superhuman rate (they will get pay docked if they scan too slowly), so don't try and make small talk. Bring your debit card or cash, and your own bags (no credit cards accepted). read more

We never have any issues with our money before and it passed everything stating it was real this was very unprofessional and uncalled for I definitely won't be returning to this establishment anymore. 4 stars now that the store is cleaner, better organized and has an organic selection! Many improvements were made to this location in the last year. Can't beat the prices, lots of no-name brands though. Select organic products, today I purchased organic brown rice, organic quinoa, 2 organic frozen pizzas and organic spinach. I also purchased a 99¢ pineapple, concentrated bleach, TP, green juice, and trash bags. Everything was less than $29. Be prepared with your own reusable shopping bags, or use the free boxed Aldi provides, or buy a plastic bag at checkout. Parking lot is much improved as well, rent-a-cop security detail driving through periodically. I can't do all my grocery shopping here (we prefer organic meats/dairy and Aldi doesn't have that option...yet) but I will certainly stop in a few times a month to stock up on select items! read more

This place fits my budget perfectly. I'm not the one who does the grocery shopping - that's my wives passion. When I go with her I noticed not only the great values, but the quality of their items has improved over the years. I recall shopping Aldis when we lived in Ohio years ago and their generic items were low grade quality. I'm pretty impressed with present day Aldi's. You have a great selection - with great prices. It seems like people go crazy for Aldi, so I knew I had to try it out eventually. Now, I do most of my shopping at Price Rite, so I'm definitely not a snob about grocery stores. But I'm not a huge fan of the selection or service at this particular store. First of all, the store is pretty tiny. Also, a good amount of space is devoted to random household items like luggage and small appliances. Again, I'm not expecting a cornucopia of ingredients from a budget grocery store. But I couldn't even find basic items like tofu, berries, and sweet potatoes. The produce section is particularly meager. And it's really hard to ask someone for help, because they only employ just enough staff to keep running. Of course, the prices are low. But they weren't any lower than at Price Rite, and Price Rite actually has brand name items. I did enjoy the knockoff granola bars and ground coffee I got from here! But I definitely couldn't do all my shopping here regularly because of the paltry selection. If you do come here, make sure to bring reusable bags and a quarter to borrow a cart! read more

I like this Aldi just fine. In some ways it's like a lower cost Trader Joe's, though not everything is top quality. The comparison is easy to make since TJ's and Aldi are owned by the same German parent company. I would not necessarily expect to find things such as whole bean fair trade coffee, coconut oil, fairly nice cheeses and good frozen fruit there but these are all things I have bought there and been happy with. There is a small selection of sometimes decent packaged produce. There tend to be some flaws and dents when you get things like bags of apples but it's mostly just cosmetic issues. They do have a selection of gluten free items called LiveGfree, or something like that, but I have not tried anything in that line (a lot of things have eggs in them). The prices are very reasonable for specialty items but I buy staples elsewhere when doing my normal day to day shopping. My favorite thing is the aisle of random stuff in the middle of the store. I've gotten wire shelves, outdoor chair cushions, small bins to organize things in my cupboards, pots for plants, some sets of small drawers for hardware and probably a few other things that I'm not remembering right now. In terms of prices and quality for non-grocery items, I think it'd be fair to compare it to what you can find at Ocean State Job Lots (although Aldi is in a much smaller space). The store itself seems to be cleaner recently, which is nice. It's a little inconsistent in terms of what you will find so I tend to ask the very courteous staff a few questions while I am there since I realize things are not always where I expect them to be. This lack of consistency drives some people crazy, including my husband, but I like to browse and it's not a big market so it's not like you'd have to wander too far to see everything. The parking lot can be cramped and chaotic on weekends but not as frustrating as the larger lot at Whole Foods on N. Main. It still feels odd to have to put a quarter in a chain to get a cart but that's not the worst thing. I like that it makes me have to remember to bring my own bags to make it easier to take things out. Overall this Aldi is a fine place to browse and get some things even though it's not somewhere I'd want to do all my food shopping. read more

I usually go to aldi in Johnston and they are fantastic. 5 stars. This smith hill location should be shut down. They're not wiping down carts. They're not limiting the amount of customers in the stores. Aisles are crowded, impossible to social distance. Customers aren't wearing masks. Employees are just hanging out. This is a new location and it's by far the cleanest Aldi store I have ever been inside. The employees are helpful, and the aisles are easy to navigate. They have all of the usual fare you'd expect to find, but they also sell their own brand of soy milk for just a little over $1/quart. They also sell a lot of fresh fruits and vegetables for cheap. Remember to bring your own bags (they charge for theirs) and a quarter so you can get a cart. Don't worry...you get your quarter back when you return the cart. read more

I first experienced the joys of ALDI in Germany. (Mein Mann ist Deutsch.) I fell in love with all the snacks, and even more in love with the prices. The store there was incredibly clean and well lit. Imagine my surprise when, on a recent jaunt through Providence, I encountered one. It did not disappoint. Ooooodles of snacks - including Peanut Puffs (aka: Nut Flips) - line the store, as do inexpensive cereals, and other good stuff. I'm not sure how they do it, but everything is dirt cheap. I almost didn't want to review this, as I consider this location a well-kept secret, but at the same time (maybe it's the Brooklyner in me) I'm afraid it'll close unless more people shop there. Oh, what to do... The missing star is for the less-than-glamorous lighting and too-quiet atmosphere, which, when combined, leads to a somewhat bleak shopping experience. A lil' more lighting and some upbeat jams would work wonders. But I digress, I will definitely be back to stock up on the regular. read more

I went here for the first time today and I was pleasantly surprised. Cheap pizza was what I was after (don't ask why) and they had it for $2 a pie. This store is good for basic food items where quality might not be an issue. A can of evaporated milk is pretty much the same no matter whose brand name is on the front. However, I'm skeptical about produce and meat here. The guy at the register was super nice. I forgot my pin number- they only take debit and cash FYI. He held my groceries aside until I came back with it and even put the pizza in the freezer until I returned. So nice. Lastly, I'd rather have all the stores charge for bags. It means less waste! Places like Target or Shaw's will give you so many bags for no reason- it's nice to see one store not doing that. read more

Sure they may not have the largest selection of things, but they carry the basics, which is important. The only problem I see with this place is the often impatient person in the checkout lines who may get annoyed that their card doesn't go through on the first try. (I had to wait about 5-7 minutes one day for it to go through, having to swipe it a few times, but I didn't really mind. I wanted to love it! Maybe I'll try another aldi location, this particular one seems to have a rodent problem. I was strolling down the aisle feeling good about the organic selection and very reasonable prices when a bag of tortillas jumped out at me. While considering whether or not this was a sign that I should buy tortillas for the week I heard another crinkle of the bag. I thought, "Did those tortillas just move?". Upon further inspection a mouse was just hanging out there chowing down on some flour tortillas for his mid afternoon snack. Now I assume most grocery stores have a rodent problem from time to time, but I've never seen one on the shelf, eating the food. Seems like he was pretty comfy there, as there were a lot of people around and he didn't seem phased, just kept munching. Think of all the things he must've been on! Little mouse feet touching all of your produce, taking a bite, and a tiny poop when needed. Hey I wash my vegetables, but not enough to sanitize them from mouse poop. ALDI is a market, not a supermarket. (Owned by same folks who own Trader Joe's.) Small with wide aisles, it is easy to navigate. Almost all products are private label. I find the quality to be mostly very good. If you aren't happy, returns are easy. Not much selection - especially for fresh produce. Prices are insanely low. Service is minimal, but friendly enough. The Store usually has only 3 employees on duty. They do everything from restocking to register to cleaning. You must bring your own bags and bag your own groceries. (Frankly, I prefer both.) oh... And a refundable quarter to get a carriage. Our neighborhood was without a grocery store for a long time, so I am really happy that ALDI is there. read more

I saved quite a bit of money as opposed to grocery shopping at other big name supermarkets. That said, what impressed me the most was how professional and kind the staff was. Found this place to be dirty, hard to navigate an an overall pain to get in and out of. I go at night and often they are stripped clean of all produce. Often fridge items I have picked up were on their sell by date. I can't tell how the store is arranged and I don't find their prices to be any better than those at price rite, and they don't except credit cards. read more

I came to Aldi's last week and I had my 2 young children with me ages 5 & 1 & when I got to the register the cashier had a very terrible attitude and he was extremely rude he could have been gay I'm not sure & not that it matters but when I said something about him being so rude he became extremely agitated and began swearing at me & threatening me in front of my children & other customers along with security in the store.
