Today I decided to venture to Shaws in search of a particular IAMS dry cat food that I have been searching everywhere for the past two days! Guess what?? THEY HAD IT!!! I Was so thrilled that my on going search ended here! I hadn't been to Shaw's in quite a while because the location that was closest to our town closed several years back. I have to say I miss shopping Shaws! Overall I was impressed with the selection of food and their bakery looked wonderful! I'm at Shaw's a lot, and I must say this is probably my favorite one. Surprisingly, because you would think it's in Fall River, that it wouldn't be that great, but it is. The store is always clean. Staff and employees are mostly friendly, and so far have always been very cheerful and helpful whenever I've been looking for items. I've seen a few women managers or assistant managers, I'm not really sure, really handle business like bosses, while being very pleasant and not condescending at all. Whatever their job is, even if they are just cashiers, they seem to be doing a wonderful job running this store. The only complaint I can think of, is that perhaps the deli area gets a little too crowded and also understaffed. So I took off a star for that. If you think that you might avoid this Shaw's because of the location, you are missing out. I actually look forward to shopping at this Shaw's location whenever I'm in the area. For the past year that I've shopped here, it seems to be very consistent in how well it's run. read more

The prices are kinda high, the selection is mediocre, and the employees all seem dead inside. So, you know, pretty average Shaw's. If you're looking for an exotic ingredient or a great sale, you're looking for a different store. But if you just need to snag a Redbox, or maybe grab some flour or a can of cat food and don't want to pay gas-station prices or swim through a Market Basket crowd, this'll do. Check the clearance shelves between the meat and dairy in back - there're often some good finds there on dinged-up soup cans or discontinued tea! read more

Senior shopping Tue and Thurs is terrible. Arrived early to shop for specials. Empty meat displayed. No chicken, no pork chops and no steak. This is NOT new to this Shaw's store. Why arrive early for senior hours when the meat shelves for advertised specials are empty. What's up with that? Moreover, the direction arrows should be waived for seniors. I am 74 years old and have so many steps. Why should I have to walk up an aisle that I do not need product and do a u turn to walk down the aisle I want. Could not have had a worse experience. Spent 110 dollars and left with nothing. Bagged all of my own groceries while the bagger in the aisle next to me texted on his phone. The woman cashier treated us like we kicked her dog. Needless to say I am on my way to stop and shop to purchase the remainder of my groceries I couldn't find or afford at this Shaw's location. read more

Definitely overpriced on most items if you compare to the largest retail store in the world... That said, this store was fairly clean, well-organized, and not horrible to shop in. The magic is in their sales, for sure. The circular (which can be viewed online -- score) can have some awesome sales. Like, better than the deals we had back in Texas and Missouri. They make it clear which of their foods are gluten-free which is really helpful. They have a small but sufficient section of those type of special/healthy frozen foods. This is a good place if you just want to shop sales or if you need to pick something up in a hurry. I'd recommend it for those purposes. read more

Went to Shaws which has just been renovated. The store is clean and we'll organized but will take some getting used too since all the sections were changed. Unfortunately for Shaws their prices are high and if you drive a few miles to the old Harbor Mall you can shop at Market Basket for a third less. Shawn also puts conditions on sales items. To get the sales price you may buy five or you must buy ten to get the sales price. I don't call that a sale. I purchased their fresh bake Toledo rolls for sandwiches, they cut them down to a size smaller than a hotdog roll and even though I purchased them in the morning they were on the verge of being stale. While on the subject of sandwiches, don't buy their deli meats, I found them to have a strange taste. read more

I went to this Shaw's location (I usually go to Stop and Shop which is closer to me but I wanted to compare the two) yesterday and I was pleasantly surprised. The good: I was able to get everything except two things on my shopping list for almost $10 under budget! My coupon was doubled. An employee noticed that I was having a hard time bagging my items and offered to do it for me (I am physically disabled so bagging things is difficult for me)!! I did not get her name, unfortunately otherwise I would have called her manager to tell them what a great employee she is. The cashier was very pleasant and answered my questions with kindness. The bad: They do not carry Dole brand salads- only Fresh Express which I find their quality to be sub-par. I noticed that their pet food is a few DOLLARS more than other locations. Overall, I will shop here again except for my dog/cat/kitten food and salads. read more

This is the closest supermarket to me but I will not go there unless I absolutely have to. The selection is terrible and you have to be VERY careful not to pick something up that is expired. It is also very expensive. read more

This store is ok. They are the closest grocery store to where I live so I go here sometimes, but it is a little expensive, and they dont have the best produce so I prefer not to go here if I'll be going by another supermarket. They are big but I feel they dont have as much of a selection of items as I like. read more

Time is important to me, as it is to everybody else, which is why I got so annoyed when I went to Shaws, Fall River, MA today, March 22, 2021. I planned to buy some fried chicken, a couple pounds of seafood salad, and most importantly, some prosciutto from the deli, for a wonderful recipe I had for my daughter's engagement party. There was only one person in line ahead of me, and he was being served, so I didn't expect it to be a long wait. There was only one person working the deli, but there was a manager nearby also, instructing another employee, a young lady, how to put store-made pizza under the heat lamp. While I waited, an elderly lady got in line six feet behind me. She wanted some pizza and, for some reason, the manager served her first and then went in the back room. Oops, right? No big deal. The lady realized that she had gotten served out of order and apologized to me. "No worries!"I told her, "Honest mistake." She smiled sweetly at me. After a few more minutes, the manager came back and....asked the guy behind me what he wanted. The customer seemed surprised, but put in his request, which the manager promptly filled. I was going to complain but I realized I haven't got time to teach an inept deli manager how deli lines work so I left my carriage exactly where it was and walked out of the store. Market Basket is on the other side of the city but they understand the complexity of line dynamics better, so I spent my money there instead, and will do so from now on. The staff is here miserable. And I can tell it's not the staffs fault ( although they hire a lot of teenagers who just really don't care ) but it's the corporation that creates the misery. Half of the time they don't say hi at check out they don't look at you and it's just horrible customer service but once again if they got paid better their employees would probably be a lot more willing to do their job well. read more

This store must be about to close. If not, it should. Only one checkout was open while 3 other "employees" were gabbing around this one person who was working at the checkout (as the line got longer and longer). Finally, Matthew M came and opened another checkout line. I hadn't been to this store in a year due to high prices. Now I have 2 reasons never to return, high prices and terrible service. read more
