Patel Brothers is an awesome supermarket, with an incredible selection of South Asian items. Honestly, it took me a few hours to walk through and look at everything I wanted. There seemed to be a range of pricing, from what felt like crazy cheap to expensive. We left with a cart full of staple items and frozen foods for a total of $65. Very huge store! The aromas from the spices and herbs throughout the store is intoxicating! I picked up some tandoori masala seasoning mix for making tandoori chicken. I was also able to find frozen chicken tikka! There's so much to explore and see here! Was my first time coming here today and it won't be my last! Patel Bros is a very unique and well stocked store. Compare prices elsewhere before buying anything here. Wesson canola was selling here for 8,99 per bottle. The same item was selling in Walmart (Walpole) for $5.42. They also sell batatawadas labeled "fresh". I feel they were made earlier and refrigerated. read more

I'm African American and came in for hair products and it was honestly the worst experience Ive ever had. the cashier kept following me, had other guy workers following me since I was the only black one in the store. at the register she was super rude. Always a solid run! It's located right on Route 1 so the access is so easy, especially if you're in the area running other errands. There's plenty of parking and the hours of operation are great! We come here often for many Indian snacks, ingredients and fresh produce. They also have frozen Indian meals and produce available - all prepped and ready for purchase! A lot of the other Indian stores in the area are more hole-in-the-wallish. This place, in comparison, is expansive with wide, clean aisles and plenty of stock! I like they also make fresh batches of their own snack mixes. These are in large bins and you can measure out how much you want and pay accordingly. I find the prices fair and the workers are helpful. Overall - def recommend this place for the selection, access, and affordability. read more

Great one stop place for everything Indian/southeast Asian that you might need. Pretty big store with good amount of parking. They have all the local vegetables that you won't get at most supermarkets around here at reasonable prices. Huge selection of frozen foods to choose from. Overall it's a chain supermarket and is similar to other Patel brother stores. All the PANEER you could ever want and more! Very large, clean and well organized grocery store. Extensive selection of produce! We visited on Saturday evening and it was not particularly crowded. Huge assortments of spices, beans and lentils. Lots of parking in the lot out front that neighbors the Dollar Tree (one of the best Dollar Trees in the area, IMO). I enjoyed perusing some of the beauty products, particularly those including rose water. They also have an extensive selection of delicious looking frozen foods. Also, lots of oils and incense. I was amazed that I picked up some tea tree oil for only 3.99 in a size that would have been about 9.99 at Whole Foods. Prices on the produce and bulk items like rice, beans, etc. were good but other items like nuts and dried fruits seemed overpriced compared to other local grocery stores like Market Basket. Also, the selection of kitchen wares such as pots and pans seemed very overpriced- better deals at Target, TJ Maxx or even Dollar Tree on these things. Another caveat, check all the packaged items for chemicals and dyes. I picked up a number of things that looked intriguing but put them back after determining they contained food dyes. Definitely will return here for the paneer, produce and essential oils. If you're conscious about not consuming food dyes though, I'd stick to the basics / whole foods when shopping here. read more

Really conveniently located and well stocked with everything Indian. The fresh produce included fresh pigeon peas in their pods, which are a dear component of Puerto Rican cuisine as well, and which is called Toor here, and fresh cane stalks, gourds of all kinds, and many forms of coconut, and sweet and sour tamarind. Any one from the West Indies/Caribbean and Central America would love their spice and rice/bean selections. Their prepared frozen food selections are also extensive. In general prices are comparable or lower than in local chain groceries. Check out their paneer cheese selections, including gigantic slabs weighing several pounds, and very reasonably priced! read more

This is the largest and in my opinion the best Indian-focused international grocery near Providence. There are very few things at other Indian markets nearby that Patel Brothers also doesn't carry. Costs are comparable or lower than at the smaller shops as well. Love it! This particular market also carries fresh fruits and veggies and some prepared food as well. Two notes of caution: 1. parking is abundant but I would suggest parking far away from the main entrance or at least backing into the space when you park... the massholes in a hurry plus people acting like it's Mumbai traffic out there makes it a total clusterfuck when trying to get out safely without human roadkill in the lot. 2. This Indian grocery store opened in mid 2016 a few blocks south of the Emerald Square Mall. The produce is fresh and very nicely priced. There are lots of Indian spices, rice, noodles, etc. The store also has a nice frozen food section where you can get many Indian and Asian prepared food. I'm a fan because the prices are competitive, they have a great selection of items that you can't find at other grocery stores (like varieties of chutney, curry, etc). read more

Absolutely fantastic Indian Grocery. I am glad Patel Brothers made its way into the south shore area. The store is extremely clean and very well lit. Excellent selection of high quality fresh veggies and herbs. The first thing I noticed when I walked into the store is the pickle station on the left. They had a station bar with a variety of pickles that you can buy by lbs. I got the spicy mango pickle for myself and fell in love. The isles were very well organized and easy to find what you need. Obviously you can find all the groceries but additionally they stock various snack mixtures too (check out my pic). I got the sev and it tasted delicious. They also have various Indian health and beauty products. The store covers all your Hindu religious needs by stocking items like idols, incense sticks and other religious necessities. The only thing missing is the Fresh meat. If not for meat this would have been a 5 star. Definitely a good addition in the south-shore especially serving the needs of Providence, Attleboro communities. read more

Hello, Keeping in mind that it is a grocery store, but would it hurt to observe basic cleanliness in the store and the bathroom? This is not my first time here, I have been shopping here since they opened in Attleborough. The store's bathroom is always a mess, no toilet papers, no hand soap, no paper napkins, and dirtier stalls. I'm concerned because if they don't clean their bathroom, then what else do they not clean? I can not begin to imagine how filthy their frozen or cool storage is? It's my sincere request that they maintain basic hygiene and store etiquettes. Thank you!! read more

Always a great experience. There is always many new items for our vegetarian and vegan household to enjoy. We never feel judged or looked down upon for being rather uncultured white people trying to read products and taking our time in the isles. Prices are fair, you have to take your time to shop around for the best prices on certain items due to the assortment. Staff is always professional and keeps the store rather clean and well stocked for how busy they are. Our last visit a staff member saw us overstuffing our reusable bag (we always get more than we intend on, of course) and gifted us one of theirs on the house. read more

I found this place while Christmas shopping in the area, after the mall I needed to go to Dollar Tree for stocking stuffers and noticed this store.. I guess its been awhile since I've been in that area.. so after going in Dollar Tree, I went in and walked around to check the place out.. The store was very clean, wide variety of produce and other items.. unfortunately I have no idea what most of the other items were, or are used for.. I found some teas that looked interested and some cookies/biscuits.. didn't even check out the frozen foods since it would be hours before I got home.. but since I do like to cook on occasion, i'll probably check out some recipes before my next visit and go in somewhat more prepared! I suppose I could have asked someone, but I like to shop on my own.. I say excellent customer service since no one bothered me! Will definitely be back! read more

I have never experienced blatant racism in a store before I came here, almost immediately after me and my friends walked in this women that worked there walked over to us as we were picking out mangos and literally stood there watching us didn't offer any help or anything we weren't even greeted with a hi, hello or even a smile, but we continued shopping anyways brushing it off but the more time we spent there it was like they wanted it to be known that we were not welcomed they didn't even hide that we could see them talking about us we asked for help looking for certain products and they were so rude to us, when it came time to checkout the clerk was so rude we thanked her anyway and she just acted like we weren't there no one deserves that kind of treatment I'm honestly shocked that I would be treated that way from someone who literally is almost the same skin color as me. horrible experience never shopping there again. read more

I came in because I had been waiting and waiting for this "farmers market" to open, not realizing it was part of a chain of supermarkets focused towards Indian and other Asian and some middle eastern cultures. I was stunned by the produce items I have never seen in my life. They may not have cherry tomatoes but there were 15 types of melons. All the produce was super fresh and very affordable. Having never been in before I walked every aisle, and there was so much I picked up and at prices far below Other grocery chains in the area. Cans of hummus and tinned stuffed grape leaves for under $2? Thanks! Those run you 3-5 at a stop and shop. A very large variety of banana and plantain chips? I couldn't pick just one flavor. Spices and snacks in bulk, and a pickle bar make this stand out just a little more. The frozen foods section was fantastic as well, left with several frozen halal and whole 30 compliant protein options for those night you just want to pop something in a frying pan or toaster oven and toss it over a salad. Americans take note though, only chicken and lamb meats were there. Inside is very bare bones set up, very reminiscent of a SAMs club or price rite, plain shelving no frills on end caps etc. no fresh meats as well but you can always get that elsewhere. They do sell some American groceries (pastas, sauces, condiments) but don't waste your time on those here. read more

All I came here for was basmati rice and $100 later we left with a full basket! I had read about this market opening up and was excited about getting the chance to finally stop in! The produce section is extensive, well-organized, and everything was fresh and beautiful! All of your typical supermarket vegetables and then some...white and yellow turmeric, okra, fenugreek leaves, all kinds of squash, melons, and eggplants, mango and curry leaves. The dairy section had lots of paneer, different butters, and both chicken and duck eggs. There is a pickle station in the front, and I got both the spicy lime and mild mango pickles to try at home with some samosas...delish! The rest of the store is extremely clean and organized. Again, all the typical supermarket items plus tons of bulk spices, pulses, an entire aisle of basmati rice, chutney, pastes, pickles, and sauces, and a large frozen food section. Great prices! To complete the experience, the cashier was incredibly friendly and sweet. And the other staff we interacted with during our time here was friendly and helpful. I will absolutely be coming back when I need Indian ingredients. And again...although Indian-focused, you could absolutely treat this as an all-purpose market. Easy to get to, tons of parking. My friend and I were going to the Toys R Us when we saw the newly opened Patel Brothers Grocery store. We love Indian stores so we had to go in! Really fantastic selection of items. Fruits that you don't often find plus all sorts of Indian wears like figs, specialty chips and a huge assortment of baking goodies. We picked up a few of this and a few of that! Got some Lays chips that were so spicy and good. Burfee selection was amazing and tasted super fresh. Even bought some frozen items to make later. Probably one of the best Indian food marts we've been in. Plenty of parking, reasonable prices and huge selection. read more

The cashiers are completely ignorant and incompetent. I have been in here a few times and I have found the check out process to be painful. This last time, I was in line behind a group with a large cart and the cashier asked another employee to wait on the couple behind me instead of taking the next customer in line which was me. They really need to train their employees to pay attention to service and not start a new check out line without taking the next person waiting. I ended up waiting for several minutes and watched several people behind me get checked out before me all because of this rude cashier. cultural food is what southern MA/Northern RI need. This shop has a beautiful array of fresh, unique produce. I wanted to buy one of everything in the store- Indian food is so much more complex than traditional American food and has so much to offer the area. The stock staff helped me find what I needed (lentils), since I'm a white boy and didn't know what they were called (it's Masoor). It can be easy to be intimidated by food you are unfamiliar with, but I implore anyone to give this shop a chance and explore outside of burgers and chicken wings. read more
