I really like Trader Joe's in general but it's also something that I can easily get sick of. This place is perfect for 'bachelor' type meals, but also ok for family meals.... I sometimes crave the flavors in here but again, other times I lose my appetite because I am sick of it. If you like Trader Joe's , this is a good one. The staff are polite without being over the top and it's not as crowded as the ones in L.A. or even the one in Warwick. Trader Joe's in Fox Point, Providence is the one to go to! They always have the latest releases and consistently have a good stock in store. The latest craze is the Trick-or-Treat Mini Canvas Totes. Trader Joe's is known for being a busy market. This is a fairly new location near downtown. The entrance is on a one way street and a little challenging to get in, find a parking and get out so be patient. I love Trader Joe's for their flowers. I get all my Eucalyptus for my shower there, they are fresh and full for just $3.99 a bunch. I also make arrangements from time to time and love their selection and price points are reasonable. The line rather long moves at a steady pace. Many friendly cashiers and there is always someone in the front letting you know what cashier you can checkout with. One question I have is why does the person directing the cashier line whether it's a male or female when I go always seem to have a Hawaiian style shirt on at this location ??? What I love about Trader Joe's are the different brands that they provide to the customers. There are very few grocery stores that can compare to a Trader Joe's in my opinion. The service is always on point. The variety is phenomenal and the quality is always top notch. Don't get me wrong - I LOVE TJ's! Three stars because, in compliance with Ri's blue laws, there's no alcohol sold (and there was a corporate-level decision, despite contracting for the space during construction, to not open a liquor-only space in the building. So, two TJ's in the state, zero opportunity to pick up Three Buck Chuck. Not good. Next, the parking lot is so poorly designed. Too small, too narrow, too dangerous. Oh, and too hard to get into. Many folks have to make an illegal left turn and circle the full building to enter this scary space too. Not good. The food choices are generally excellent (though the cheese selection is a bit less diverse than in other TJ's). The frozen foods I look for (I see you mandarin orange chicken!) are usually in stock. The dark chocolate peanut butter cups are still devine. So 5-stars for the company. Subtractions needed for the small footprint of the space, and for not working around puritan RI regulations. read more

This East Providence Trader Joe's is probably one of the best Trader Joe's we've ever been to. I love Trader Joe's. Prices are reasonable. You can get high-quality organic products over here. Trader Joe's hire pleasant and professional staff. The building is brand new. It is spacious, modern looking and clean. The neighborhood is so nice over here, definitely of the most growing and developing ones in Providence. You can enjoy the Riverwalk. What to get here besides produce and Vietnamese strawberry sparkling drink? They have one of the best garlic sauces you can ever buy. I have been going to their stores all over the US for years, either while living in those areas that were lucky enough to have one or while on vacations. Today I went to the new location in Prov. With my sister. We found so many great items to take home and try and also many of our "we always buy this at Trader Joe's". wait bye i'm a regular here and i've never swooned over this location. i have done snack runs and full grocery runs and specialty runs. great service. there was ONE person in my almost 3 years of coming that was sooo mean to me when i tried buying a sourdough loaf but then i never saw him again so maybe he's gone or maybe someone heard him yelling at me for moving the bread drawer and reminded him it's not nice to yell. obviously a quiet restocked trader joe's is my favorite but also i did wait in a short line for the pastel totes. and i love that this is not one of those crazy trader joe's in other cities where people grab at each other. most recently i got kale, caesar dressing, the sourdough rye chips, and the beef prosciutto thingy, and made the best caesar salad i've ever made in my life. so there. come hither. read more

We are like both Aldi and Trader Joe's for cheeses and smoked meats, but this one time we decided to get our provisions at Trader Joe's. Their cheeses are a step above Aldi and their selection of crackers are also more varied. Sure enough, our guests commented on the delicious cheeses we had prepared for them and they were delighted with the many kinds. A great place for charcuterie. This Trader Joe's in Fox Point is an easy walk from our condo and it's a nice clean, well lit grocery store, with friendly people working on the floor and smiley check out cashiers. Not only do I love Trader Joe's but I specifically love the TJ at this location. This store is always stocked and if anything is out I always see the boxes coming right out ready to refill. I started coming here in college and it quickly became my favorite grocery store. I think it's one of the best options for fresh produce and I love their selection of specialty items. Even their regular foods that you could find at an average grocery store taste a million times better to me. Some favorites have to be the pumpkin cold brew, the gluten free blueberry muffins (so amazing), LOVE the chicken soup dumplings, and every single one of their pre made salads are so yummy. It's so convenient to have ready to make meals, the snack options are amazing and the atmosphere is fun and welcoming. Would never recommend coming here on a Sunday though unless you don't get stressed out by large crowds. read more

I was really in the mood for something different and a sweet for lunch during a rainy, day off from work. Trader Joe's came in clutch. I bought a chickpea, kale, salad bowl for only $5 for 10 oz. Very flavorful, tons of chickpeas and well-balanced. Then I got a French apple tart. It was $8 for 20 oz. I almost bought their pecan pie that was a better deal per oz, but I wanted something lighter so I was glad I grabbed the apple tart. The crust was spot on and the apple/caramel top was so good. The staff at any Trader Joe's is always so friendly and if it seems busy in the store, the lines moves quickly. read more

The store itself is clean & typically well stocked, but the parking is a nightmare and not being able to pick which cashier you get it wearing on me. I cant handle getting Ethan* again. Having to correct an adult cashier when your groceries are getting squished, smashed and cold things are left out of your cooler bag, but non perishables are in it...? Cashiering 101. I opted not to post the first time when he was having a full conversation with another cashier while putting heavy things ontop of my burger buns and filling my cooler bag with potato chips and non perishables, leaving my frozen goods for the paper bag, figured he was new or having a bad day, but it almost happened again today, and when I spoke up he gave me an attitude. I shop at the Warwick TJ's location which is closer to me, but wanted to check out the PVD location to see if they had any different items that I may want to purchase. The store is new and well laid out. Clean, wide aisles, very friendly staff. They have a private parking lot behind the building that looks plenty big enough. Drive into the lot near the store entrance and wend your way through the one-way lot. There is one cart return near the back of the building. If you park near the entrance, carts are returned near the front door. This TJ's is a similar size to the Warwick location and similarly laid out although not exactly the same. I have shopped at TJ's in AZ and WA states and they offer products I wish we had in this area, but I am sure they stock based on demographic and west coast items may not be a big hit on the east coast. At the time of our visit an Avenue Concept mural (see their website and/or my Yelp review) was in process and I love that! TJ's model is to be part of the local community and this fits right in. I would definitely stop in to shop at this TJ's again without a doubt. Big produce area, dairy section like the one in Warwick, plenty of frozen items, baked goods, meats, snacks, dog treats, supplements, etc. All the items RI TJ shoppers have come to expect. read more

Decent selection of food including seasonal items but note that this location does not sell alcohol. You'll need to go the Massachusetts locations for the beer and wine. Staff generally friendly and lines move quickly. I come here all the time on foot because parking is tight in this area- they do have a small lot but it fills up and it's hard to get in and out easily. read more

Dont, just don't even bother going in the parking lot-its one way and took 15 minutes to go through and I didn't even end up with a spot. Instead, I got a spot on Pike Street, which is behind the building. I just didn't like this Trader Joe's as much as the one in Warwick or even the amazing one up in Foxborough. It was so crowded and everyone was on top of one another. there were several cashiers so when you were ready to check out that process was nice and quick. I was kind of excited when I heard the province was getting a Trader Joe's. I kind of still am since, they could improve it. Granted, the location and the parking lot is effing insane. But the thing that really bothers me is that I've gone to many locations of this chain over my life. This is the only one where I've never ever seen one organic fruit offered. What the hell is up with that???!! Do the people of Providence not deserve organic produce? I don't buy any "demographic" argument either, because this area is becoming more and more expensive and he population is very well educated. They are the demographic who would organic produce. Is it simply another food place taking advantage of the fact that they have the captive audience of students as their customers so they don't even have to try? I love Trader Joe's and was so thrilled to finally get a second location in the state but holy moly was this a rat maze to get to by car. I would recommend this location to pedestrians or bicyclists, if your driving to this location I'd recommend going early to avoid traffic. The store itself is clean, spacious, and similar to other Trader Joe's. The staff were also very friendly and prompt. First time visiting this store since it opened. I noticed in all the pictures online, there wasn't any photos of the parking lot. Surely I would assume this place has a lot that's big enough to accommodate Downtown Providence. Well. Not so much! This parking lot is one of the most narrow and claustrophobic lots I have ever encountered!!! I stay away from places that tend to have tiny or weirdly angled parking lots, it's almost like a phobia and an avoidance of mine. I almost didn't go in the store because of how crazy this structure is. You think Providence Place is bad? This place makes PP seem like a parking euphoria! With how aggressive & absentminded drivers are in Providence, and RI in general. This is a train wreck waiting to happen. I really wouldn't suggest going here on a weekend or before a holiday / storm. It will be guaranteed chaos defined! The employees were super nice though and the selection of products was vast! The prices weren't so bad either! The store was a bit crowded so having to say "excuse me" over and over does get tiring. There are some foods from TJ I really really love! Like the frozen spaghetti Cacio E Pepe, and the frozen Butter Chicken. But I think I'll stick to the Warwick one and make the extra drive. Putting a popular grocery store in the middle of Downtown PVD was a good thought. Just not well executed! read more

I love having a Trader Joe's in Providence! Their prices are pretty affordable compared to Stop & Shop and you can always find something new to try. They keep up pretty well with their stock as I am sure they get a lot of customers daily and the size of the store is on the smaller side. This review is mostly about the parking lot. I am currently trapped in this parking lot, so I decided to get on Yelp. If you are old enough to remember when Eddie Murphy decided to have a singing career, then you probably thought that was the worst idea anyone would ever have. But that was before someone decided to put a Trader Joe's with a parking lot on this tiny piece of property. It honestly feels right now like I'm in a parking garage in Boston on the same night that there's a Celtics game and a concert. The snaking path through the parking lot is one lane wide, and anyone who wants to get out has to back out into this long line of cars, which means either that people are going to keep you trapped in, or if they are nice enough to let you back out, you are just contributing to the mess. And all of this is compounded by the challenge of getting out of the parking lot into the very crowded traffic right near an intersection. If they are trying to force everyone to start riding bicycles to this location, they might be onto something. They might be equally successful at just getting fewer people to shop here because they don't want the frustration anymore. I feel bad giving a two star review, because all of the employees I encountered in the store were lovely, just like they have been at every Trader Joe's I have ever been to. But the person responsible for designing this parking lot... I think they must just not like people. read more

A failure. Parking is a struggle trying to get in and out of a poorly designed entrance and lot. As is the poorly designed check out area where cashiers have only one place to merchandise that needs to be stacked on a counter after scanning then moved again into a bag. I was thinking this system is error prone as it occurred. When I got home I found I was charged for an item not placed into my bag and also double charged for one item. The rest of the store is also a bit strangely laid out making it difficult to move around at times. Strange considering it seems the store was built from the ground up to TJ's specifications, not shoe-horned into an existing space. The merchandise is the same items found in a typical TJs. Strange also that I have decided to pass by this one on the way to Warwick or Foxboro when I want to shop at TJs. read more

Came here on their opening day. I was impressed by the variety and quality and, often, uniqueness of their offerings. I only bought a few things and was impressed by their overall prices, especially on basics like milk and eggs and coffee. As an older person, I was afraid I would no longer "fit into" their typical customer profile. I need not have worried. It's really a well-run grocery store that has something to offer customers of all ages. I have since returned two more times, buying more with each visit. I am especially enamored of their fresh home-made soups in plastic containers. I like their well-selected fruits and vegetables and their small but well-chosen packaged fresh fish. The English Blue Stilton cheese is fabulous and their herb teas will be regular purchases. Check-out is a snap with all the work done for you and with everybody in the place cheerful and helpful. read more
