I usually shop at the PriceRite in Providence, but sometimes I come to this one in Johnston when I am in the area. I love the store for its produce...usually very fresh and well priced. I get my bananas, celery, carrots, chayote, onions and cabbage at about 20-40% off than at other mega grocery stores. I am not too crazy about their meats, I have bought them before and the quality of them is not as good as Shaw's or even Walmart. So I don't buy meat here...except if it's prepackaged like in a Cryovac....so it is actually coming from a meat processor like Hormel or Tyson. I am going to keep it simple. Not a bad store BUT! The deli service is HORRIBLE. Zero customer service training. Rude, slow......

The absolute WORST customer service if you ever call by phone. I called to ask about Jamaican Beef Patties in the big box. They're $12 each. The person who answered the phone BRANDON went to check, came back and gave me descriptions of three small boxes. No big deal. He obviously didn't see the large boxes below. I told him, 'no, I'm looking for the extra larges boxes below those boxes.' His response, "I don't know, I only saw the small boxes. I can't tell what they said on them." I said, "it's the large cheese box right beneath them." Brandon did what most stupid customer service people do. He hung up. The phone has been ringing now and someone will pick up and hang up. Brandon should not be working there at all. Thanks for being the absolute most rudest worker at the store. I'll be sure to go in and complain directly to the manager. Location, parking, access is very easy. It has a deli which is an added star! It's organized and people working are friendly and helpful. The produce is fresh and a good variety and prices. The only reason not 5 stars is not enough employees and registers open. We are almost forced to do self checkout. Self check out is hard on elderly and takes longer if in a rush. More people would use it if you gave a discount of 5 or 10 percent off cost or free bags. An incentive for us to do the work for you. Checkout time is way too long. ​​ read more

Why? This is going to be short. I went into PR thinking that the items in the store were seriously discounted compared to my other local supermarkets. I go in and the place has a morgue-like atmosphere and I look at items and they aren't even on sale compared to my other stores. So, I stopped and looked at myself in a store mirror and said to myself, "why the hell am I in this terrible store?" Answer: no idea, I walked out. Once I moved to Providence and started going to the Valley Price Rite, my prayers were soon answered as one was constructed in Johnston, about equidistant from my place. I love this shiny brand new price rite. They apparently took the best and brightest from local stores to staff this one. I have never encountered an unpleasant cashier or clerk here. They do unfortunately still have a security officer, but he almost seems bored at this location. The flow of the store is a lot better than that of the Valley st store, and the produce is arranged in a much more logical manner. I have noticed this store carries a lot more name brand products and has slightly higher price points for the name brand products, but I assume that is more because this is a suburban store near the affluent town of scituate. This store doesn't have the selection of the Valley st. store but it has all the heavy hitters you would want. They also have added a deli since opening, and while they don't take orders for pick up they do have a case of pre sliced deli meats and cheeses in 1/2 lb and 1 lb containers. Again, they have an impressive quantity of UTZ snacks, and their layout is much more similar to a conventional grocery store than other Price Rites I have gone to. Plus, when I leave this store, if there were any items they weren't able to provide me with, I can swoop by stop and shop on the way back. read more

This is a great addition to Johnston. I know a lot of folks may not go in because it is considered the discount grocier and in some locations, a little dodgey to look at. This is not one. This is new with a great selection of store brands and brand names. It is cheaper then going to WallyWorld and I have to admid that their store brands are not too bad. They also have some odd one off selections. E.g., Being from Texas, and a Longhorn Alum, it was surprising to see some Earl Campball Sasage on the shelf. This is almost exclusive to Texas shops. So I was very please to grab some. So the shop is fresh, clean and well layed out and organized. I think you would be very pleased. read more

SO CHEAP!! Never go to a regular grocery store again! There is NO reason to pay a lot of money for quality groceries. We are talking produce, meat , seafood dairy even a deli! The selection is great. You will find brand names, reduced fat options and healthy items. They even have Perdue free range chicken! I find things like hummas and reduced fat wheat thins. Things I would never expect at a discount store. Chobani yogurt and all. Good stuff. You'll also get store brand name for REALLY cheap. You will need to bring your own bags, cloth OR pay 10 cents for some big bags (which work great for trash bags) All and all its clean and nice and you'll be amazed. Don't expect organic stuff or Whole Foods, but you'll be surprised by the selection. Happy shopping and savings! read more

I want everyone to know the horrible service me and my friend experienced today at Price Rite. We were waiting with four other people at the Deli. At the time there was 2 people working the deli. And then with four people waiting for service both workers went to break, while patrons are waiting for service! If that wasn't bad enough my friend was called a negative name pertaining to his sexual orientation! I am appalled at the treatment by staff at Price Rite . Something needs to be done. I don't want to shop there until they are made accountable for there actions!! We called the manager to handle this problem. What ever happened to service with a smile! Customer is always right! arrived early one morning during covid-19 crisis,granted,and checked out at express line with a dozen or so items and was immediately and rudely informed at point of sale that I had to bag groceries outside.With nothing to place my groceries in or on outside of a flimsy plastic bag which would not open, I grabbed my things and proceeded to the exit .I placed the items on an unoccupied bench near the door and fumbled with a bag to begin placing my things inside and there was no one else even remotely nearby and once again I was informed by the same rude employee to go outside.There was no sign warning anyone of such a policy that I had never encountered before and had no idea I was expected to IMMEDIATELY proceed out the door as there was no sense of urgency at that moment so early when area was practically deserted.Use your head.Leave the attitude at home.Will never shop there again read more

New Price Rite in Johnston = good. As with other Price Rite stores (and mentioned in below reviews), selection is limited. However, the prices ARE great and selection has been expanding as of late. I have to put in a good word for the staff at this new store. The cashiers are very professional and personable. They are the main reason I was prompted to write this review. I really miss my Shaw's which closed a few years ago, but am VERY happy that this store has opened. The Stop & Shop down the street on Atwood Ave has sorely needed some competition for some time now...they have always been overpriced and the quality of the staff is dicey. Plus their day-old bread is often DAYS old and hard -plus sometimes has flies in it! Not kidding. Word of advice: bring your reusable shopping bags! Or buy one of theirs. Negatives: 1. Price Rite does not accept coupons, but that's what you get with such good prices. 2. Management needs to better learn how to staff employees. Management refuses to open up additional registers when there is a large line of people trying to check out. When asked why they don't do this employees employees will not answer. Corporate refuses to answer you when you ask them. read more

CAN NOT beat the prices at this place. You can buy the exact same brands you would buy at Stop & Shop but on average pay at least 20-30% less. Even their own "Price Rite" brand is packaged/manufactured by most of the name brand companies so its still the same products. You do have to keep an eye out for some of the meats & poultry, they may be close to the sell by dates. read more

Great new store to Johnston. Prices will amaze you in comparison to Stop and Shop around the corner. The store may not have the variety its full price competitors but what you do find will be around half the price. The staff is very friendly and accommodating and the store is immaculate. Special props the Vinny V. who I met in the produce department, he went out of his way to help with his knowledge of the produce selections, a throw back to true customer service! read more

me and my wife went here yesterday,there was a middle-aged woman running the register who was obviously brand new and had no clue what she was doing,it took like 15 minutes just to check out...today I looked at my bank account and I was charged 227.56 TWICE.......being a person who keeps all receipts etc....I return to discuss the matter with management with a printout from my bank and said receipt....."we will have to wait till Tuesday...its a holiday weekend"....really? this happened on a Friday..... read more
