My Husband and I stopped here because of a hankering for some delicious bbq. Um, this was the WORST bbq I've ever had. I have no idea why it has such great yelp reviews and why (dear lord WHY!) it was so packed. We ordered bbq combos, the Hubs had tri tip and I had the cobo with chicken and ribs. ALL of it was disgusting. It tasted like the meat had been boiled (there's no way it touched a grill) and then bbq sauce was just slathered on after the fact. It was so bad, we couldn't finish our food. The breadsticks were the saving grace of the meal and delicious but I wish we could have had more of them. I know that you'll read my review and then you'll read all the other great reviews and you'll still go there thinking I'm crazy and for that I'm truly sorry. You will be fooled as I was so I leave you with one last plea: Stay away - this is NOT bbq. Go to Lucille's instead. It's at least much better than here. read more

Cheese Garlic Bread - cheesy, hint of garlic, and soft break ^_^ Tri-Tip - tender & juicy Ribs - meat falls off the bones :) also a little bit sweet, too! Avocado Pizza - you don't even taste the avocados! Avocados give a slight creamy texture, red onions give a slight crunch, and then the softness of that pizza dough *o* Salmon - buttery & melts in your mouth. I've heard the commercials, and finally had a chance to try Stonefire Grill. I think this location once was an Ethan Allan's. I was there for a party, and we sat outside. I was told by our hostess, that I'd have to go to the front to order, OK. I got the tri tip and ribs combo. The ribs are dry and the were clinging to the bone. ! They're supposed to be tender, and flavorful. The BBQ didn't come with sauce, I had to ask for some. then later I learned there is a self serve sauce dispenser at the self serve fountain drink station. Not only do you have to place your own order, get your own drinks, condiments, and silverware...the service is kind of slow. The tri-tip was OK, just OK, not sensational or fantastic. Great food, great service - a combination that cannot be beat. We visited the restaurant to celebrate an achievement. We arrived early for approximately 40 people. The food was outstanding: tri-tip (roasted medium), roasted chicken, fresh vegetables/salads, and pizza for the kids; and wine and beer. All great tasting and flavorful...the best part? The staff was quick, efficient, and very patient and understanding to the whims of the group. So would I return? It's casual - you order before you are seated and get your drinks and utensils by yourself but once you sit down, the atmosphere is so warm and cozy that you forget you just did all that. I have been in this place for couple times because of the good reviews. But the last time l went there for BBQ chicken to go. Let's say I was very disappointed when I found out my chicken was not even half-cooked. It was kind of disgusting!! I would not want to get salmonella from eating raw chicken. (PLEASE SEE PHOTOS.) I just do not know how they even serve raw chicken to customer. They have to make sure to check the chicken before they serve the customers. How can you trust this place when I spoke with the manager about a month and half ago that he said I will received a refune check and apology letter in the mail. So far I have received nothing. So disappointing. Came for a birthday party today. Tri tip was like leather. Couldn't bite it. Got a refund. They don't know you have to cut against the grain. 10 minutes after we left one guest had diarrhea very bad. Had to buy a change of clothes to drive back to San Diego. Another person was so nauseated but didn't puke. Ridiculous don't eat here. The place is messy. It took a long time for someone to clean tables. We had dirty tables to look out. The food is amazing here!! Everything tastes fresh and is prepared with excellence. I've had their beef, chicken, salmon, pizza, sandwiches, and even salads ( and I'm not a salad guy). Best part about this place, the bread sticks! Kind of sad, but its true. Amazing bread sticks. Makes me want to try their pizza. The tri tip was tough, super hard to eat/swallow. The baby back ribs were ok. Probably the most OK ribs I've ever had at a "BBQ" place. Does that make sense? Service was ok. Good for big parties. If you are looking for BBQ, dont come here. Go to Robin's down the street. If you are looking for good Tri Tip, dont come here, go to Wood Ranch. Consistently delicious! My husband and I usually dine-in at this location but this past weekend we were feeling lazy so I placed a pick-up order online (first time doing this with Stonefire, super easy!). I like that you have the option of choosing to pick up "ASAP" (they give you an estimated time of when you're order will be ready, which was pretty spot on for us) or to schedule your pick up time. The person who was taking care of the pick up orders made sure to go through all the items in our order (and did so for people who were in front of us too) to make sure what we were taking away was accurate. This was appreciated, I can't even count the number of times we've made to-go orders elsewhere and get home only to find that something is missing! The portions are really generous - we always have enough leftover for at least another meal, sometimes even two. Love their golden state kale salad, breadsticks, mesquite BBQ pizza (get both chicken and tri-tip together!) and their ribs!! read more

I went to pick up once and waited 30 minutes past the expected time only to find out that they actually had the food ready the whole time. They just gave me the cold food. Next time I was missing multiple items from the order. Third time I waited 30 minutes for curbside, called three times and was told they were on their way out each time, and nobody came out ever. I just drove away. They never called back. I think they were hoping that I would just leave. I've emailed corporate and the manager, but they just offer to send a gift card that you can only use if you go in the store, not for online orders. Hard pass. read more

This place is really good for large parties since their portions are huge and good for sharing. They also have a nice outdoor seating area where they good accodate many people. I recommend getting the tri tip here since it's so nice and tender. I know many people don't like getting chicken but the chicken here is actually really tasty. It's really tender and easy to pull off the bone. The ribs here are just okay. I prefer the other two proteins I mentioned over the ribs. Their Cesar salad here is amazing. It's nice and garlicy and a great starter but beware of you don't like garlic because every bite will for sure leave you with stinky but tasty breath. If you're still hungry you could also order a pizza. Their tomato sauce here is really special. You can actually taste it in each bite you take unlike other places where the sauce just disappears. read more

A lot of people in my high school really loved this place, but I never was a huge fan. Like, it's okay... The garlic bread sticks are pretty tasty, and the salads are actually really good...but you come here for the meat, and it falls really flat. I pretty much always get the tri tip and ribs combo. The ribs are dry and the CLING to the bone. That's terrible! They're supposed to be tender, juicy, and fall off the bone. The tri-tip is pretty flavorless, although I must admit that the texture is pretty good. But it's not enough to warrant coming back. The only thing I actually REALLY like here is the Tomesto pasta. It's half tomato sauce, half pesto sauce on a bowl of rigatoni. This is delicious, but for a grill that prides itself on meat? No. Do yourself a favor and go to Gus's Barbeque or Bludso's instead. So me and the boyfriend have been here a few times and we have returned after a few months and here's my review for tonight's experience. The person who took our order was Justin L (thank goodness the name was on the receipt lol) and he was very nice and very polite, so that's always great start. We got our drinks and sat down and within 10 minutes our Cesar salad sides came out and our breadsticks. The Cesar salad is the right portion and rightfully dressed, which is a plus because some places drown their salads in their dressing. The bread sticks were seasoned well and very fresh. I ordered the boneless chicken breasts with the lemon garlic sauce this time instead of the bbq sauce and this place never disappoints. So delicious! The boyfriend ordered the boneless chicken breast with tri-tip with bbq sauce. All the meat were cooked really well. Then the last thing we ordered was the garlic mashed potatoes and you can never go wrong with that. Everything came out to be $32 for 2 people and I tipped $3 when I first paid at the front. It was Mother's Day weekend and this was my first time doing take out here at the Pasadena location and it was by far, one of the worst food experiences I've ever had. I understand the circumstances with the COVID-19 crisis and it being mother's day weekend, but seriously? This location was lacking in all aspects of quality control and organization. We had put in an order for the Whole Chicken and Tri Tip Family deal the previous Thursday (5/7) two days ahead of time. We were already on the way to pick up the order set for 6:30pm, and at around 5:45 pm, we received an email notifying us about a cancellation of our order saying it was never registered into the system. Ridiculous!! Already this made us pretty upset. We had to place a new order and even then, we had to wait another 20 minutes for our order to come out. On top of that, we were told at the last minute that there was no more bone-in chicken option so we had to settle for dry chicken breasts. Along with this, the staff kept rummaging and confusing orders. They kept looking for a "Jeremy"... I'm not Jeremy for the 5th time ! Don't even get me started with the food! It was the absolute worst part of it all. My family and I usually have a decent time when we dine in, and the food is always consistent in it's portions. You're telling me we paid $73 dollars for what looked to be dog scraps?! They were so bland and burnt. The chicken was extremely dry and the steak was almost inedible, it was supposedly medium rare, but was definitely well done. I'm not kidding, it was so chewy, it made my grandma CHOKE. Usually the tri tip comes with horse radish, but this time, we literally got a teaspoon dollop of horse radish and 2 tiny barbeque sauce containers for ALL the food. Might as well given us some lotion on the side for that dry ass chicken. The ceaser salad dressing was the wrong consistency. The lettuce was old and the dressing was too thick and tasted like hummus. It left a bad taste. The only decent thing out of this whole meal was the garlic bread sticks, but even so, they turned soggy. This was so disappointing. We were just trying to make the best out of Mother's day during quarantine. My mom hasn't been feeling well and we thought this would've made her feel better, but it just made all of our jaws hurt and almost killed my grandma. If you're ever looking for jawzrsize, look no further. Anyway, please consider training your staff to be more consistent in quality control and also don't cancel orders the very last minute. First time I tried the food it was terrible. Just bland and no flavor. Decided to give it another go a few years later and the food still tastes terrible. This review is for the way my order was handled and to forewarn others regarding the lunch special with the chicken breast. I am taking out 1 star because I don't know who would order the petite chicken breast+salad+bread stick lunch special, pay $7.29 and be satisfied with it. What I got was a large box with a couple pieces of sliced chicken breast, a side salad and bread stick. I would need a second lunch just so I wouldn't go hungry. My coworkers saw my lunch and was shocked at what I got. We all thought the box was switched where the salad should have been in the bigger box and chicken breast in the smaller one. I called the restaurant and talked to the manager Samantha. She confirmed my order was correct but sounded like this complaint was normal. She was acommadating to take back my order and let me order the petite salad from the lunch special. The food is usually good and portions are large, even the petite sizes are pretty good size portions. I normally order the petite salad with salmon+bread stick and thought I would get a similar size salad especially since I was getting chicken instead of salmon. I booked Stonefire to cater our wedding this past weekend. I had some trouble with other caterers, but not this one. First, we ordered dinner from their restaurant and was pleased with the quality of the food (I HIGHLY recommend the BBQ meatballs), so then we made the decision to call their dedicated catering line. It was so easy to speak to someone over the phone and provide all the necessary details. The price they quoted us was very affordable as well. The catering staff did a great job on the day of the event. Since they were a preferred vendor of the venue, they were familiar with the space and knew what was expected of them. I'm going to start this review out with a personal anecdote: It was the fall of 2015. For some reason, extended family was visiting my family at a high rate that year. We needed a place that could accommodate all budgets but still had tasty foods in portions that could be shared amongst a lot of people. That place was Stonefire Grill. I swear, I think we went to Stonefire at least 12 times in the span of 2 months that year. I almost got tired of it... almost. First, the ambiance: It's casual and often very busy. Sometimes, it's hard to get big groups in there but the outdoor seating is perfect for special occasions. The portions are large, great for splitting, for a great price. The salads are always tasty and filling. My favorite thing to get is the Lemon Garlic Salmon. It's so tender and delicious and I could eat a whole pound of it myself. And please, PLEASE, for the love of everything that is good on this planet treat yourself to some of their breadsticks. You will not regret it. 12 for $5 is a steal. I'm a regular at the Valencia and Northridge Stonefire Grill. This is my first time in this branch and did not fail me. Their service is consistently good with the other branches. The ambiance may be better. The fountain area may just need to be tidy up a bit and ice teas refilled faster, but that may just have been the day I was there. read more

I couldn't taste the seasoning on the tri-tip, so I put some bbq sauce on it. Then, the garlic lemon chicken seemed undercooked and lacked flavor. There wasn't enough lemon garlic sauce for the entire bird. I'd been here last week and the food tasted so much better. This time was just disappointing. A let-down. I've come to this restaurant about three times and the food never disappoints. They have great tasting bbq and pizzas. I stopped here today after a short hike in Eaton Canyon. I chose the mesquite chicken breast with a salad and breadsticks. The pricing is not bad but service could be a little better. The waitress that served our food never came back to see if we needed anything else. The garlic bread stick are fresh, warm and tasty. The chicken is cooked just right in which it is still soft and juicy and not dry. As of right now 4/5 is what I'd give this place. Considering I've been in Pasadena my whole life I never ever heard or have been to Stonefire Grill. Out of every ordinary day my uncle and I happened to catch up for lunch. He has mentioned this before but it really didn't spark my interest until I was able have the menu right in front of me. I was greeted with happy smiles, Nicole who helped my uncle and myself to our order and really answered he questions we had. As well as Jacob, who checked up on us every other minute to make sure we were doing great. I'd definitely come back considering it isn't far from the college campus.
