If you're looking for a friendly and fast restaurant, then this is the place to dine at. Ashley B. greeted right away when I walked in and asked me if I've dined before and I didn't. She explained the whole system and was the bomb! Joe then took my order up at the register and suggested some items so I decided to give them a try! Joe was right! Each item was tasty. This is my favorite restaurant!! I am a regular here and I always get awesome service from Ashley all the time! She always gives me suggestions on what I should get if I want to try something new and they're all good suggestions. She's always smiling and has a positive attitude every time I see her, she's the true definition of a good employee with outstanding customer service. The number one thing I get from here is the Tri Tip for 2 meal, and she already knows what i'm going to order cause she remembers me all the time! I first tried this place in Valencia and would drive all the way from Pasadena to service my craving, so Im so glad they opened one here in Pasadena!!!! I just want to say, that I tried their mac and cheese and it was ah-freakin-mazing!! ...and it was on the cold side when i tried it. My school had the fifth grade graduation catered by Stonefire Grill and I just happened to taste it. I was a little late to get food, so all I got was some mac and cheese and a bread stick... but both were soooo good, I can just imagine how good it would taste warm! Number 1, BBQ involves Wood and there is no Wood Here. Now that that's out of the way. Heard about Stonefire and was affraid it was a New Healthy Choice Trendy place for Yuppies and Wanna Be Barbeque Lovers. I was both Right and Wrong. I don't think the exclusion of Smoke makes this Not BBQ. We ordered a Full Rack of Baby Backs, Half a Tri-Tip Roast (Garlic Herb) and Half a Chicken (Lemon Garlic) an order of Cheesy Garlic Mashed Potatoes. Beans and Grilled Veggies with Feta. The Tri-Tip was Tender and Juicy, The Chicken was OUTSTANDING. Most places screw up slow cooked chicken and make it dry and inedible. This was just Tender Juicy Goodness. The Copious amounts of Garlic and Fresh Lemon made this Chicken one of the Best I have found at a Grill. The Ribs w/o Smoke were tender, fall off the Bone and Sweet. The sauce is perfect for the Baked Ribs. Any more Aggressive and it would over power the subtle flavors of the Pork. I like a Rib that come away clean but still has good mouth feel. This was on Point. The Sides were all Really Good. The Mashed Potatoes gave me Goose bumps. I have to figure out how to make them myself. Beans were Good and really Meaty. Veggies with Feta, grilled to perfection. The Surprise was the Brownie. Don't Pass it Up. Buy it, Eat It. Love it For a Non Traditional Barbeque Establishment Stonefire Grill hit a Triple at First Bat. Service was a little concerning but the Food more than made up for the slow service. With Robin's Right Next Door. Time will tell which place Pasadena wants to Support. Stonefire was Hopping and Robin's was Slow. Give it a Chance and Look beyond Purism. P.S. I was contacted by Someone at Stonefire that informed me they use Mesquite to cook their meats. They didn't specify if it was Wood or Charcoal but they wanted to make sure everyone knew that Wood was involved. We've never eaten here before, but Stonefire Grill was recommended to us. We dined with another couple that had never been either, so it was an experience for us all. An experience we all just assume forget. Don't get me wrong, the service was almost perfect... almost. When we first walked in, we were greeted by a friendly hostess explaining how the restaurant works. Pretty simple to understand. We all decide on our dish of choice. Our friends ordered the tri-tip dinner with a Greek salad, and the fresh grilled vegetables, and the tri-tip / ribs dinner. My husband as well ordered the tri-tip (medium-rare) / ribs dinner and I ordered caesar salad and the steak and cheese sandwich. This sandwich is not to be confused with a cheese steak sandwich, as I thought it might be - my err. So anyway, it consisted of about 6-8 slices of steak on a 6" soft french roll, a slice of cheese, lettuce and tomato. No mayo, mustard or special sauce from what I can taste. That's fine, because I was able to get a true taste of the steak, And It Was - BLAH! It had no flavor what-so-ever; no seasoning at all! I was a bit surprised. The sandwich needed help in order for me to finish it, so I added a little bbq sauce, and that did help. As I said, hubby order his tri-tip medium-rare and he received it well done. As well, it arrived less than warm. He waited for a waiter/waitress to come by to advise of the over-cooked steak, but no one did. So, he took it to the counter himself. Of course, they apologized and said that he would get a replacement right away. We were all about half way through our meal, when hubby had to ask where his dinner was! The reply he received was, "No one brought it out to you yet?" The person looked up to where all the completed dinners were placed for the waiter/waitresses, and there it was! Well, the tri-tip was medium-rare and it was tender, but it was still less than warm. As a matter of fact, all of our plates were less than warm when we received them. Our friends thought that the ribs might be boiled first, because it just didn't have that bbq'd flavor. Also, the fresh grilled vegetables looked over grilled as they were all pretty black. I can't comment on the flavors of these items because I didn't try either of them. Although the steak/tri-tip/ribs were all pretty tender, they all lacked in flavor. We all ended our meal with the same unfortunate conclusion - we more than likely will not be returning to Stonefire Grill. read more

I went to this place for the first time a few days ago. I ordered the rib and tri tip combo, because I was indecisive, and figured I could take some food home as leftovers for the next day. The tri tip was better than the ribs, but the ribs were still decent, just inconsistent. One side of the ribs was dry but the middle pieces were tender. The tri tip was succulent and flavorful. The BBQ sauce was delicious--zippy and slightly sweet. I wish there were more healthful options. The menu was filled with a lot of greasy fare (which was pretty tasty, just not healthy). There are some options, like salad or salmon, but the ratio of unhealthy-to-healthy food on the menu was imbalanced on the unhealthy side. I heard somewhere that there will be some healthier menu options coming soon, so I'll probably give Stonefire another try after the new menu appears. Portions are generous. I would have been fine with ordering the petite tri tip combo, but my curiosity about the ribs made me a glutton. We also ordered a "small" mac and cheese, which was gigantic. I wish they had an option for a side of mac and cheese-- charge me less and give me less. The cartwheel salad was nice-- beets and garbanzos? Yum! I would recommend ordering salad dressing on the side-- my salad was absolutely drenched in dressing and was completely soggy. I almost always order dressing on the side, and I forgot this time. I flagged down a waiter, who was nice about bringing another salad without dressing on it. My friend and I split a mac and cheese. It was pretty darn decent. It was cheesy and creamy, but didn't stay creamy for very long. It hardened up very quickly. La Grande Orange hands-down wins for the best restaurant mac and cheese in town (Wood Ranch comes in second place), but for a quick fare type of joint, Stonefire's mac and cheese is certainly respectable. I don't like that they use Pepsi products here. I wholeheartedly prefer Coke. I'm also not a fan of the ordering up front at a counter and then sitting down afterwards. It makes me feel like I'm at a cafeteria or a fast food joint. It's probably efficient and enables them to keep their prices reasonable, but I like the personal service of wait staff checking up and making sure we're happy with our food and refilling our drinks. read more

I ordered a 7" cheese pizza for the kids and the tri-tips/ribs combo for myself. The pizza was yummy as well as the tri-tips. Not so much on the ribs since they were kind of dry. The total including tips and a regular drink was $25. Kinda pricey so I gave it 3 stars only read more

Not that Stonefire Grill needs another positive review but here it goes. I was a fan of the original location in Santa Clarita. I was EXTREMELY happy when I found out they were coming to Pasadena. They did not disappoint. The food is consistent with the quality as the original location. Their salads are like none other. I am addicted to the Chicken Caesar Salad. The BBQ is really good too. It's such a comfortable place to go. GREAT service & tasty dishes that make you feel like home. This location especially has the BEST SERVICE. I am the regular there, i have never like BBQ too much until i tried stonefire grill. their trip-tip is wonderfully cook, i love it so much becuase it is not too fat and oily, but still can maintain the tenderness, another of my favorite is their chop grill salad with chicken or steak, tried their house dressing, you will love it instantly. their staff is very friendly, one time i ordered togo to pick up, but by the time i got there, they are already close, most restaurant won't wait up, but they have ppl inside with the food ready for me. that's why service is all about. love it love it love. must try. read more

Came in on a Saturday afternoon just before dinner rush. This was our first time here and was overwhelmed, a little. Seems quote chaotic and popular to have the ordering system they do, but I guess it works for them. I liked the self serve drink area which includes extra plates napkins and condiments. However, I felt I had to keep looking behind me to make sure I didn't knock someone over once I had my hands full of drinks and napkins. We tried the Asian chicken salad, the roasted garlic chicken, the salmon, the Pesto chicken sandwich, the half rack of ribs (dry) and the mashed potatoes. Oh my god and the breadsticks holy Toledo. All the food was delicious only the ribs came out decidedly dry and flavorless. I'm inclined to say that they rely on their BBQ sauce to flavor the ribs entirely and this shouldn't be the case. If I order dry ribs I expect no sauce but I do expect flavor. Will definitely return! Service is 5 stars everyone is super nice and friendly. Excellent service, bbq tri tip is good (get it Medium or Medium Rare only or else it'll be super chewy), mac and cheese is cheesy nomness, garlic mashed potatoes are ok, baby back ribs are below average (dry and tough). Plenty of parking and conveniently located next to Trader Joe's. read more

I come here often but the last experience was unsatisfactory. the salad and breadsticks were up to the usual standards but the tri tip.. the tri tip was cold, chewy, and lacked any flavor. If you cant get the flavor right at least serve me the food hot. Isn't the tri tip suppose to be what they're known for and also the most popular item? how could you mess up on that? I see other reviews complaining about the cold tri tip and i suggest they do something fast about it or else they will continue to lose business. Apparently this place got a lot of good reviews by people who didn't eat what I did. People are nice but the food was not. Kale salad tasted like dust of kale and the salmon on top tasted like it was thawed and re-frozen a thousand times, so it was like mush in the middle instead of firm. Never again!! read more

Where to begin this the first time at a Stonefire Grill had the salmon w/lemon and garlic. Be aware that they lots of GARLIC chunks gods but somewhat all the same flavor. So yummy here! My sisters and I got a small cesar salad, 1lb of tritip, 6 pieces of breadsticks, and a small pesto pasta. There was more then enough to feed the three of us. Everything is so well seasoned. The tritip is moist and tender. The breadsticks are so soft and chewy. The cesar salad may of had a little to much dressing but it was still great! You seat yourself and grab your own dishes and utensils, but they do clean after you. Overall we will definitely be coming back. read more

I've gone to Stonefire about 6 times this year and the food has been great each time. We'd order ribs, chicken and the pesto pasta. However, this visit was a major disappointment. I've never returned a dish before until today. The ribs were extremely dry and tough; usually the meat is tender and will just come right off the bone. I had to return the ribs and they brought us a new order and it was not much better. I was debating on whether to ask for a refund or not. We couldn't help wondering if the usual cook had the day off for Father's Day. The food is usually 4 star, but today was just bad. read more

Terrible! I placed a big order and was so excited for my family to try this place my husband and I rave about. We picked up the food and came home and started serving our family and the minute I opened the tri-tip I saw it was over cooked. The meat looked boiled. We ordered it medium rare. My husband said the chicken had a funny smell so he didn't bother eating any. I was so embarrassed. I have eaten at Stonefire grill many times, but tonight they missed a mark. Not sure if they have a new cook or what, but the Tortilla soup was so salty that I could not eat it and the bread sticks were not done. When I looked at the bread sticks they looked different very flat no fluff at all, broke one in half and it was very doughy. Would have taken them and the soup back but I did not feel like driving back over there. Hopefully next time will be better read more
