I usually do not like to go to the eye doctor, but I had a pleasant experience with Dr Adcock. Because of my good experience, I scheduled an appointment for my 5 year old daughter. Because my daughter had such a good experience, my husband made an appointment. My only issue was that I made my appointment under Texas State Optical, but their building had Stone Hill Optical. They do make an automated appointment for your return in a year. I guess it is one way to make sure you come back, but I'm sure some people do not like that. read more

Hands down the best Optometrist office in North Austin. Dr. Rachel Adcock takes the time out to ensure you leave the office happy and is very thorough with her exam. Not to mention, they use State of the art technology so it's great to really be able to understand your vision. Best part, no need for displaying your pupils with the new technology (in most cases)!! I broke my eye glass arms a couple of times and they always replace/repair them for free. Not only does this location have great frames to choose from, the staff is outstanding from the start! I called to make an appointment quite upset, and not in the mood I had a young lady by the name of Bri answer the phone and she was very upbeat and really took the time on the phone to hear what i had to say, and seemed to understand my frustration which was very comforting, she sounded like such a nice lady, and i feel she is a great person to have be the voice of the phones to represent the business. When it was time to check in to my appointment i walked in to a gentleman by the name of i believe Irving he greeted me right away and really gave me a warm welcome in. I then went back for my exam, and i had the most interesting yet fun experience with Felicia she was outstanding, she had such a personality that is so relieving to have at a doctors office! I absolutely loved how she made me feel as if I was home and comfortable after a long day of work, which is rare if my feet aren't kicked up, and i am not sleeping Lol. it was just a lovely experience all around, and then to have an amazing doctor come in and say "Hey! TSO PFLUGERVILLE HAVE NO CUSTOMER SERVICES AT ALL....really bad ... I call in about 9:00am, this morning to ask for the Rx for contact len for my wife. They said they will email me the Rx after tha doctor sign the Rx. I wait until afternoon, I still have nothing. I call back, and they said the doctor not sign the Rx yet. I told them I need it to buy the contact lens for my wife. Thay said again they will try to have it done and send it to me. 4:00pm, I still get nothing. I call back again, and they still can not have the Rx sign yet. I really don't know what going on. Very bad place to ever come again for the services. All my family go here for the services, but I thing we will never, never come back again. I really need some answer from the management of this place... read more

I went there about a month and a half ago and they did great. The dr was cool. I ordered a box of contacts for each eye. 6 months worth. And I wore the trial pair for about 3 weeks. But on the 3rd week my right eye started to feel very uncomfortable. The contact kept irritating my eyes. I cleaned my eyes and the contact multiple times but I couldn't go a whole day with them in bc of how much it irritated my eyes. So I thought maybe these contacts are old and I should try a new pair. So I opened the boxes for each eye and pulled out one, put them in, and the same problem kept happening with my right eye. So I made an appt and I was able to be seen the same day. I go in and the same dr gives me an eye exam to see what's wrong and they could clearly see that the right eye was more blurry the the left. Well the dr tells me I have an astigmatism in my right eye. Which I have known about forever but I don't ever normally have to tell my EYE DOCTOR since they usually know and they tell me. Well I guess this dr missed it the first time. So he gave me a new contact for my right eye and I could see clearly but it was still uncomfortable to wear. So the dr gave me a whole new brand to try out for both eyes and it instantly made my eye feel way better when I put them in. Well I asked if I was going to have to order 2 new boxes of contacts now and the dr said I could talk to the front ladies about it. So I go to the front and I had brought the open boxes of contacts that I had-which I had literally just opened up a couple days earlier- and she says that they don't exchange or refund open boxes but that she would call and ask. So she left for a few mins and she comes back and gives me a speech about it but said they could return it since they were giving me a whole new brand of contacts PLUS a new prescription BUT I have to pay a 10% reboxing fee for opening the boxes. Which was $14 plus I had to pay a shipping and delivering fee of $5. I know it only ended up only costing me $19 that day but I shouldn't have had to pay anything since the dr is the one who messed up my prescription and I couldn't see out of my right eye like what the heck. Especially since I had already had to pay some money out of pocket the first time around. I just thought it was poor customer service and honestly it makes me not want to go back. read more

I called TSO cooperate office and was asked to email my experience with TSO. I explained everything that happen. I also wanted to know my options as far as getting refund or going to a different TSO office to have frames adjusted. Which I rather do because of long wait. The end result, I could return to (TSO Pflugerville) where I was miss treated by their office manager Dennis. Cooperate representative says she forwarded my email to them and this is their response. I can go and return the glasses and they will credited my card I used. I find this very offensive, I feel they are both implying that I used a credit card and trying to get cash for my transaction. I used my MasterCard flex spending account card, my money. I'm not a trying to be underhanded or beat the system. I just want to be treated fairly and with respect. After waiting for a response and expecting help. I get nothing. No apology from cooperate, no sincere apology from TSO. How is that going to help me? I have been inconvenienced by their bad customer service. And now being forced to go back if I want frames to be adjusted or refund. If I would of known I wouldn't get any help. I wouldn't have wasted my time. read more

I don't recommend this place to anyone. I was told I would be placed on a waiting list for a weekend appt. When I called back I was informed I was never on the list. Then I was told if I wanted a weekend apppointment I would have to give a $20 deposit! Are you kidding me? This place is rediculous. read more

Prescription Held Ransom While my story may be unique, I feel it necessary to voice this grievance and warn prospective customers. Had my experience with Texas State Optical ended at the eye exam, I would only have glowing praise. The facility is top-notch and professional; the staff knowledgeable, engaging and humourous. We joked of my need for yet another year to accept bi-focals, then proceeded to talk of contact usage. Unlike most, I rarely wear contacts -- a fews hours on the weekend, or just long enough to look good when going for drinks. Their recommendation was silicone hydra-gels. The fitting went well, I removed the contacts and cased them for the next weekend. On a Texas Hill Country getaway a month later, I chose to wear my new contacts the entire trip....Within 6 hours my eyes were extremely bloodshot and burning. My eyes were so painfully sore and oozing, that it lasted for another 2 days. I chalked it up to fatique until the next time I wore them to worse results. After doing some web-searches on silicone hydra-gel, I found that MANY people are having this problem; some so bad as to result in eye hemorages and ulcers. I didnt blame the optometrist for contacts that disagreed with my system -- perhaps I have a silicone alergy that I was hereto unaware. I contacted TSO and their response: it is passed the 30 day trial period, and I'll have to pay another 200$ exam fee to be issued different contacts. I doubt my eyes have changed that much in the intervening months, so I attempted to purchase my original contact brand with the new prescription on-line, only to be told that I am only allowed to buy those contacts as assigned by the optometrist. So now my prescription and sight is held for ransom by TSO -- for another 200$ I can buy contacts that dont ulcerate my eyes. Here's is my warning to all: Either wear your contacts regularly in the first 30 days, know if you have silicone allergies, or take your business elsewhere. It's been almost a year that I've been without contacts, and time again for an eye exam. Perhaps this time I will get the bi-focals, but I guarantee that it will not be through Texas State Optical. read more

The wait was long. The store itself and the follow through with finding frames felt chaotic. The doc services were great, fine, no problem, but she left the place. Then, when I called to get my prescription one year and two weeks after paying top price for it, they said it was no longer "valid" (?) and refused to give me my medical information. What a scam. Come in every year, whether you need it or not, or forfeit what every other doctor will gladly give you upon simple request. I find this practice highly unprofessional AND unethical. Screw TSO. There are too many choices to go to medical extortionists. I went to the office off Medical Parkway in Austin. I assume their "policies" are the same in all branches. read more

This place was amazing! Super clean and with updated technology which is a plus especially when dealing with something as sensitive as the eyes. Dr Scott S (I cant remember his entire name pleases forgive me lol) was very nice and easy to work with. Made it very easy to ask questions if I had them and didn't make it seem like the questions were stupid. I've had doctors like that and it is not pleasant. Staff was super friendly and helpful. What I really like is they weren't pushy! They gave me my prescription and I told them I wasn't able to get frames that very day but I'd be back and they didn't try to force anything on me. Just said "that's totally fine! Whenever you're ready we'll be here!" Then as I was looking at glasses no one came up trying to sell but was there if I had a question. I appreciate that cause I'm a very quiet shopper. Just wanna get in and out don't really want to talk to anyone unless I HAVE to lol but they made it all super easy! Knowing how a good Optometric operation operates, I am very impressed with TSO's operation and staff. front desk staff are totally incompetent, they called a week before the appointment kept me on the phone for 20 min asking questions about insurance, getting all information pertaining to appointment. at the end of the phone call i was told ins was verified appt was set on the actual day of my appointment when i arrived at 3:00 pm i was told they did not take my insurance and could not see me. i asked why was i not called since the appointment was at 3 pm they had all morning to call and of course the answer i got was "i don't know" and this was from their office manager. if the office manager can not answer the question what then is his job.....at this point i was not given any other options just that they could not see me . lousy service especially since i had to take the day off of work i would not recommend this to my worst enemy read more

You know those people that try to get any money out of you for any little thing? yea thats this place...they will try to take from your insurance too, they are not very honest with you when they explain their plans. Oh and they will FORCE you to get "trial pairs" even if you say no and they will make you pay for them. The contacts you thought you ordered have not been ordered even if two months have gone by. This place is just horrible i dont recommend to anyone, i ended up going to Georgetown. After all of this i asked for just my prescription since i had already payed for my appointment, of courseeee they tried to hold it out on me and tried to get me to pay for it AGAIN. I informed them that at this point its a hippa violation, plus i payed for it the prescription was mine. I am sad for weaker people who cant say no, this place will be all over you.
