Fantastic little gem in Wareham. Eclectic decor with a 60's / 70's vibe. Small restaurant serving up wonderful creative food cooked to order. Not your typical fried food type place. I had grilled swordfish topped with jumbo shrimp and scallops served with a delicious and unique rice pilaf and ratatouille. I wanted to give them 5*s because the food was very good, but there were too many minor issues. I had never been here before, so I made a reservation on line. I gave them my email and my cell phone number. I got an email confirmation right away. When we got there we were seated right next to a live musician. I asked for a quieter table, and was told there were no seats available in the other room. If I was told in advance about the music, I would not have gone. It was very difficult to carry on a conversation over the music. I would only go back if I could be assured of a seat in the other room or on a non-music night. On the specials list, there was a Crab Bisque with lump crab. This might have been the best crab soup I have ever had, and had it not been advertised as having lump crab, I would have been pleased. However, if you say it has lump crab, you need more than a few measly pieces of crab on the plate. No complaints about the service. My wife thought that the chips on the bread plated was less than prefect. I had sword fish for my main dish. I has asked beforehand if it was fresh, and it was. It was listed as Cajun style. I did like the taste, but is wasn't very Cajun. The portion size was a bit on the small side. We had a bottle of red wine with our meal, unfortunately it was served warm (slightly above room temperature). One appetizer, two main dishes, and a low end bottle of wine totaled $100 before tax and tip. I think that at that price point, you need to pay more attention to details. read more

Great place for lunch. They have a fantastic drink menu. The service was excellent and very accommodating. I had the lobster roll. It was perfectly grilled with butter the, lobster salad had the perfect amount of mayo and the greens looked beautiful. I'll be back soon. read more

I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant. I must admit when I pulled up I debated going in because it looked like a house from outside but I am so glad that i did. I dined alone and the service was top notch. The restaurant was small and quaint with Beatles and Phish decor because of the owner's love of music. The restaurant was clean and neat. I had the stomping greens salad as an appetizer and it was one of the best salads I ever had. It had toasted pine nuts, Brussels sprouts and lemon vinaigrette. I had scallops casserole for my main dish and it was so delicious. The scallops were covered with Gruyère cheese. It usually comes with bacon but I asked for it to be made without it. The scallops were perfectly cooked and plentiful. Jasmine rice was served in the side along with roasted beets and squash and were very tasty. Absolutely delicious. Leanne was our waitress and she was incredibly accommodating. We had a few special requests and everything came out of the kitchen perfect. The steaks are yummy The chocolate lava cake was molten and decadent. The strawberry and blueberry shortcake was soooo fresh. This restaurant checks all the boxes. Family run, clean and cozy, 60's rock memorabilia, and has absolutely great food. Finding great places to eat in the upper cape can be a challenge which is why I am happy to recommend the Stomping Grounds Grill. We view it as a must-go-to regularly on our date night. We are always stunned by how good the food is! We have been four times, and every time everything we order is superb. Charlie's Chowder is the best I have had, and I am a chowder snub! The cod dishes are fabulous, and the steaks are perfect. I can not say enough good things other than the consistency and high-level cooking makes this one of the top restaurants in the area. I wasn't impressed. I ordered take out because we had our dog with us. I spent almost $100 for 2 cold lobster roll sandwiches and 2 bowls of seafood chowder. Chowder was good but the lobster roll was a disappointment and it came with no butter. We had to melt our own butter. The bread which was toasted and buttered hamburger buns was the only highlight of the sandwich. Very disappointing I expected a lot more based on the reviews I read here. If it wasn't for the chowder I would of given less stars. read more

Visiting from CA with local friends we happened to go to Stomping Grounds Grille on Cape Cod Canal for lunch. What a lovely, cozy spot. Cindy, our server, was professional with personality and an absolute hoot! Really enjoyed chatting it up with her. "Charlie's Chowder" did not disappoint and the turkey/blt sandwich and pastrami were good too. Small, cozy, 5-table restaurant/bar was adorable. Check this one out for sure! read more

Came here a little before 10 on Sunday. It was pretty busy. We had called ahead to reserve a table. Coloring books for kids. That is thoughtful. Ordered the prime rib hash crisp, scrambled eggs, and whole wheat toast. The hash did not come out crispy, though. Two others at our table asked for their hash crispy, too, but did not get it. If the consistency had been crispy, I think I would have liked the hash a lot more than I did. My girlfriend loved her benedict. My order also came with sliced fruits, which were a great healthy option. I wish it came with potatoes, though, because I tried my girlfriend's potatoes, and they were fabulous. I am from Hawaii, and we love our starch. As for service, the waitress was quick to take order, but it took a little while to get our food. It is summer, so they were probably busy. I've only written a few reviews. Mostly negative. But not this one...... We were heading to the Cape for the day and was looking for a place with outdoor dining. Of course most of the places on the Cape side of the canal were booked. Stumbled upon this place doing a Google search. made a online reservation a few days prior and got an immediate confirmation along with a follow-up conformation earlier in the day. Now I'm a clam and seafood snob. But the seafood chowder was the best I've ever had! Salad was fresh. Bread was warm.. And the meals were exceptional. My wife had a meal that consisted of three of here favorite things: Scallops, bacon & cheese. And finally the service was incredible. We did discover it was one of the owner who served us. Wow! First of all we called last min and they accommodated a reservation for us on a Saturday for 6:45 pm. Amazing. Environment was cozy homie and a bit psychedelic! My fiancé is a musician so we enjoyed it. Mussels were excellent and tender, delicious sauce. I got the filet subbed with the peppercorn crème sauce delicious and cooked perfectly medium! My fiancé ordered the filet with lobster, also cooked to a perfect medium and he said the lobster was cooked perfectly and tasted fresh. Dessert was great. Service was excellent. I knew when we pulled up to the place, the ambiance alone was right up my alley. The front porch with the lights greets you like you are walking up to a good friend's house. Inside, it was warm and the waitstaff, chefs and other patrons were very welcoming! The menu is small but complete. I had the Scallops baked with Gruyere and bacon and my wife had the Swordfish. Both were cooked perfectly and the portions were a really good size. The chef came out of the kitchen to chat and told us she made the mashed potatoes with cream cheese, so I switched my side and it was a good decision, they were delicious. I wanted to order the Key Lime Pie but they ran out however, the Flourless Chocolate Cake was also very good. I asked about a kid's menu, as they serve lunch and the waitstaff told me that they would make whatever we wanted, mac & cheese, hamburgers, hot dogs. I liked the easy going mantra they had for this. There was a man playing music that was the perfect volume for dinner. I didn't even realize he was live, until he came around the corner! I almost forgot, the poppy seed fresh baked rolls were really out of this world. This will be a definite "go to" for us when we are down the Cape. read more

In the middle of another Covid surge this restaurant made us feel comfortable (outdoors) and with very reduced capacity indoors. The food and service was excellent. Lobster/shrimp tarragon pasta was delicious- scallops and bacon/gruyere were pretty good too. We weren't starving but finished almost all our main courses - skipped appetizers and dessert this time. This was the absolute best food I've had in Massachusetts. I wish I took pictures of my food but it was THAT good! We got the muscles, and super fresh hot delicious lobster rolls. Alyssa was a fantastic waitress and was happy to help us think of fun things to do and was very attentive the whole time. The atmosphere is clean, funky, and eclectic without being "too much". There was a bunch of hippieish Grateful Dead memorabilia tastefully peppered throughout the place while still feeling classy. The beer, liquor, and wine list was vast and delicious. We came with some friends on a busy Cape Cod Summer Sunday. The super cute outside tables looked like they were packed and we were lucky to get a seat in the dining room. The room had a real "home" feel, it was nice. The menu gave a ton of options and I really enjoyed the corned beef hash that I ordered. You could have the hash with everything from sausage to spinach, crab cakes and avocado. I had the spinach which tasted light. Come on, it is hollandaise, so who am I kidding? The sauce was lemony, which I love and the potatoes were perfect and crisp and delicious. Our youngest table mate was able to color and enjoy his awesome chocolate chip pancakes (the order was gigantic and he really only ate a couple of bites). I wanted to get hash, and I tried some of my boyfriend's, it had a nice flavor, but was a bit on the soft side. The peppers and onions were a nice touch and I hope to order myself another time. read more

I have taken many people here . It is a nice place to eat and visit. The food is very good .There is usually only two to three people working so it is not a face food place. The staff all work hard and remain very nice .there is a few seats at the bar and the two rooms of tables. In nice weather you can seat of the front deck. A hidden gem. They've been in business I think fir 8 years and my friends and I just happened upon it. Food was delicious. Clam chowder was more like a fish chowder that included lobster and fish.
